Customers are saying
Customers appreciate the exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and strong bass response of the 5.1-Channel Acoustimass 10 Series Speaker System. However, some customers found the wiring system and subwoofer size to be less than ideal, while others noted the lack of included wall mounting hardware. The price point was also a source of some negative feedback.

Bose is piece of crap
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with these speakers. Bose is overrated. Sound quality is not at par. I returned them and purchased Klipsch speakers which are way better than Bose. I give Bose zero stars.

It's a BOSE !!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me say I've ALWAYS wanted to own a BOSE system. I've read all the reviews and I could care less about the reviews that say BOSE is made cheap and is overpriced. I only care about the most important thing; THE SOUND !!! If that means the speakers aren't made like other brands then WHO CARES?? It can be made out of cat litter for all I care; as long as it sounds amazing that's great for me. I can tell you I was blown away by this system. I bought the package deal that came with an Onkyo 5.1 receiver and the Acoustimas 10 series 5 speaker system. I'm not an audiophile perfectionist but I still want my music, games and movies to sound amazing AND IT DOES. If you are looking for a system that is not only aesthetically pleasing and is able to accurately reproduce the full spectrum of sounds then look no further, BOSE HAS IT ALL. The second concern people have is the price of BOSE systems. Yes, they are costly and yes you can probably get a cheaper system with more speakers and different capabilities HOWEVER NO AUDIO MANUFACTURER CAN BEAT A BOSE WARRANTY AND OVERALL SUPPORT!! NOBODY. I have around 8 BOSE products and have had issues with a couple of them. BOSE REPLACED BOTH at no cost to me!! Yes, BOSE is expensive but you get the whole company that stands behind their products 200%. I only have two complaints. First, the wires that come with the system end up in a bunched up pile behind my entertainment system and it just looks messy. Second, I want to buy additional individual speakers. I want to expand my system to 7.1 or 7.2 and BOSE doesn't sell individual satellite speakers. I was told I'd have to buy an entirely new system just to get two Accoustimas satellite speakers that I'd need so they will match the rest of the system because BOSE doesn't offer anything above a 5.1 system. They use to offer a 6.1 surround system but they don't anymore. The bottom line is the BOSE Accoustimas 10 Series 5 system sounds amazing especially for the speaker size. No, they aren't cheap, but aside from sounding awesome you get peace of mind knowing that if something ever goes wrong with your BOSE home theater investment you've got the whole company that stands behind their product(s) to make things right. THAT you can't put a price on. BUY IT!!! You'll be smarter if you do!!

Not what you would hope for
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I knew of Bose before we purchased this set and am well versed in audio having installed it for more than 15 years. We were looking to get a small foot print speaker system for theater and music listening in the living room. When you go to the store to listen to this system they only have it set up as a theater and were not able to let us here music through it at all. We have owned it now for about a year and have never been able to get satisfactory sound from it. It works ok for theater but music listening is horrible. There are pieces of the music that sound mono or are in your face while other portions are distorted. It lacks high sounds and throws mid sounds offensively in your face. It also varies from type of music greatly! any rock music sounds bland while anything jazzy sounds good. speaker placement is very much an issue as well. We have spent hours moving the front around to try for better sound. I have Polk bookshelf that sound better at a quarter the cost. After having tried for a while we are now getting rid of the set at a loss and going back to a tower system. The music quality from the speakers is just too low. The direct reflecting Bose makes it too difficult to place for good sound and causes distortions issues and missing parts of the music. I would not recomend this system. There are better at less a price. The wiring for them is also a I confidence. You have to run all of your speaker wires for every channel into the sub and then back out of the sub to the speakers. They give you wire but you have huge bundles of wire behind everything due to all the extra connections needed.

Going on 30 years old
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this set from a dealer named Barretts in Orland Square Mall in 1990 don't remember what I paid but I think it was about $400 back then. My set-up only has three swivel bookcase speakers and one large (I think its a subwoofer) and it still works great no plans on replacing these speakers they put out the same power as when they were brand new. we can vibrate the living room with a DVD running. The theater I'm using to power these guys was a Onkyo 909 that I bought new in 1990 but replaced last Christmas from Best Buy with almost same model. Allen

Nice sound system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a bose theater system for 20 years and loved it. When it came time to replace it of course I bought another bose system. Naturally the sound is great, but I just couldn't give it a higher rating because unlike my previous system, bose does not make ceiling mounting backets for this system. In fact, only way to set the speakers up is to buy stands to place them on or buy flat wall mounting brackets. Considering where the speakers need to be placed in my livingroom, stands are out of the question. And if you read all of the instructions provided with this system, you'll find that flat wall mounts will not allow you to rotate the speakers for optium performance of the speakers. So the sound just bounces off whatever it is facing and that creates an inbalance in the sounds you are listening to. To correct this problem I had to improvise. Using my old 20 UB ceiling mounts, I drilled a hole in a small board (big enough to put the screw from the ceiling mount through), screwed the board to the bracket, and zip tied the new speakers to the board. I pray it holds... Now I can move and adjust the speakers to the desired locations within the room to get the best sound possible. Now they sound like they are made to sound. By the way, you can still buy the 20 UB ceiling mounts. Just be warned that you will have to make adjustments to make them work for this system.
