I am a 'later' affectionado of this movie, having seen it for the first time only 13 years ago at age 49. There is no need to compare other versions, or to even watch any of the other versions. Seeing this 1951 classic is all that is needed, others will pale in comparison and not be entertaining or effective as this.

This Christmas classic has been updated with color. For those of you with younger family members who refuse to watch a black-and-white movie even around the holidays, here is a solution that may work for you.

As a child that to an adult i always look forward to this movie at Christmas. I think it is the best of any movie called A Christmas Carol. The story is great story and the acting is great.

I had the black and white version on vcr which was no longer usable. This colorized DVD version was great and matched the original as far as quality.

This is my all time favorite version of "A Christmas Carol". Alastair Sim gives a great performance as Ebenezer Scrooge. He doesn't play Scrooge as a "mean" person, so much as one that doesn't care about anything or anyone. When he's transformed after the visits of the 3 spirits you can feel that giddiness/happiness with him. You can also feel the remorse he has about how he has treated others & the resolve he has on changing his life by helping others. The only acting that is too over-the-top for me is Michael Hordern's Jacob Marley.

There have been numerous versions of the Charles Dickens' novel A Christmas Carol but none have ever come close to its gravitas like the 1951 version, at least in my humble opinion. Alastair Sim IS Ebenezer Scrooge and the film explores a possible backstory to its origin and the reason for its misery. Leonard Maltin, the film critic wrote that the movie was to good to be only seen on Christmas time, so do yourself a favor and watch it!!

If you like classic movies this is the best definitive version of Dickens “A Christmas Carol”. Scrooge, the ghosts, and Tiny Tim are such memorable characters.

I love this version of the Christmas Carol because it the one i grew up watching all the time! Would stay up and watch it on tv every Xmas eve! They stopped showing this version so thats why i got it on blue ray disc!!

This is the best version of " A Christmas Carol ". It has always been one of my favorite holiday movies. I was happy to see it released on blue ray so I bought it. I did not own it before because the quality of previous releases was not what I wanted.

So this is my mothers favorite version of A Christmas Carol and I got it for her as a surprise.

This is the best version of the scrooge/a Christmas carol movies. The acting is great and it makes it seem like you are having the same visions as Scrooge.

I have the original black-and-white Movie. But I must say that the colorized version keep the attention of everybody especially me very good screen quality and very good sound.

We enjoyed watching this movie on Christmas. My husband was surprised I found the Alistair Sims version, and I was happy to surprise him! We got the package very quickly. Ordering from the website was easy.

A classic! One of the best versions of the Christmas Carol story. The quality holds up very well on blu ray and comes with a dvd copy. A true classic !
