You need it for your 3DS XL. 3DS XL does not come with one, you need to purchase it separately.

Standard Adapter. Does the trick. Should be included in DS purchase but oh well not too expensive.

For some reason, The Nintendo 3DS does not come with an adapter. This adapter is a definite necessity.

It charges the 3ds but the 3ds should come with a charger you shouldn’t have to buy it separately.

You need to have one of these to charge the 3DS so you might as well buy it.

Do yourself a favor and purchase the official Nintendo branded charger. You'll sleep soundly at night.

Best Buy has the item for more in the store than online, price match was no problem.

It charges a Nintendo 3DS XL perfectly. I only wish that the cable itself was a detachable USB cord.

A must have for the 3DS gaming system. Just wish I had known when I first made the purchase
