Awesome for a netbook

It's a netbook, so don't compare with full sized laptops that are double or triple the price. Also, the last reviewer compared the speed of this netbook with an Android cell phone. Tell you what, load android on this machine and it will FLY. I dual booted my AO722 to keep the windows, but I primarily run Ubuntu 11.10 and love it. Everything I need on this machine works very well. It is a little slow loading applications, but once loaded it works very well. Streaming video is also a little skippy sometimes, so I make sure that the video application is the ONLY application running at that time. Highly recommend using this machine with ubuntu linux rather than windows 7. NOT ready for ubuntu 12.04 yet, and the linux install is not necessarily for beginners. There are a few performance tweaks required in order to bring this puppy up to speed, but once you're ready, it lasts a good 7 hours battery life for me. Also a little skippy sometimes when doing some photo editing using GIMP 2.8 with multiple transparent layers. Compare THAT with your android phone. I recommend this product. Cheers.

Great Little Pc

I purchased this netbook on sale for $275.00. I upgraded the ram to 4GB, installed a new WD 320 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive, and put the original drive away. After the upgrades it runs reasonably speedy. Though I took the offer to upgrade to windows 8 Pro and windows 8 media center, I just could not get adjusted to the new windows 8 OS. Maybe it works well with a touchscreen monitor, but I did'nt like it using my mouse. So I cloned windows 8 using a 3rd party backup program, onto my spare hard drive and put it away for safe keeeping......in case I decided to try windows 8 in the future. Then I reinstalled my original windows 7 home premium OS that my Pc came with, from my windows 7 installation discs I made. This is my 1st Acer and I think them just fine and a good brand. This Pc is no speed demon by any means, but then agin anyone buying a netbook for under $300.00 expecting high performance picked the wrong product. I got it for traval, wanted something small and light and this really fits the bill. I mostly email, seach the net, play chess, watch movies (streaming online) etc. I have an external USB DVD burner to use when needed. Since this netbook does'nt come with a DVD Burner, it's a good Idea to get a external burner. If you use the burner for nothing else, you should get one to create your windows 7 or 8, Installation and recovery discs. Acer does'nt stock Installation discs for their netbooks since they don't come with a DVD Burner. All in all this is a good purchase for a good price.

Disgrace to all laptops

I bought this laptop mainly for portability and size. Even though it was light and portable the performance was just horrible, most high-end smart phone have 1GHz dual core processors, this only has 1.5GHz processors so my HTC Rezound is WAY FASTER. I install power point on this laptop i couldn't even email that's how long it took me to get on yahoo.com, so i had till wait till i got home to use my desktop.
