Best alternative for most commonly computing needs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A few weeks before buying this device I was deciding between Chromebook or a low price Windows 10 computer. I have 6 year old imac and it runs better and faster than most newer windows computer, but they are very expensive. I can't afford an apple laptop. I don't have that kind of money! I analyse my computing usage and I concluded that most, if not all, my computing task are cloud based. I hardly use the computer's software. I use google drive for all my documents because it is simple and very productive. Before buying this Acer Chromebook I had purchase a Windows 10 HP computer that was about 60% off, open box + additional discount. The decision was mostly because it cost $150 and it was Windows 10. When I turned it on it took a while to open windows, then I had to go through the registration process. Microsoft wanted for me to create/join their different accounts services but I declined. When I completed the registration, the computer needed to update and it was announcing that it this will only take a moment. This is very typical with windows. I went to the kitchen, made myself a snack, talk to my wife for a while on how this new window is annoying as prior windows, and when I got back at the computer it still was updating. After it was complete, I used it for a while but I stopped and decided to return it because Cortana was continually popping up suggesting thing which I was doing on internet explorer. I knew I could turn off this feature but I decided at that moment that I will return this new annoying windows to the store and replace it with a chromebook. The Acer Chromebook gave me a complete opposite experience. It only took 7 seconds to start up and a few minute to register the computer. It is lightweight and the batteries last a very long time. I can take this computer to my 3 hours night class and not worry about the batteries. The biggest PLUS is the quality of the screen. I enjoy this part because it get very close the the apple screens. The speaker sound very good and it is load. I am very satisfied with this laptop. THIS IS THE BEST ALTERNATIVE TO An Apple LAPTOP. Never again Windows computer. It requires wifi connection, but now a days there is connection everywhere. Worst case scenario of no wifi, most cell phone can be set up to allow tethering/ local wifi, just be careful of data plan. Most software are online, for example Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, .... An alternative to the costly and frequent newer version of Microsoft office is google docs/sheet/slide.... (IT is free, simple to use, and easy to share and open on any device).

Great Chromebook. Great laptop.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For people who understand the Chromebook's unique characteristics, the Acer 15 Chromebook is the cat's pajamas. Most Chromebooks feature a 13.3-in. screen, but the Acer offers a sizeable alternative with its 15.6-in. offering. Its full HD clarity is enhanced by a matte finish that reduces glare. The two large speakers--visible on either side of the keyboard offer a full, rich sound--way beyond what you'd expect from a sub-300 dollar laptop. The processor is gutsy enough to keep things moving along briskly. Streaming HD content is a breeze. I experienced full motion with little to no buffering and only rare minor stuttering. It's easy to read on. Magazines are glorious with crisp graphics. Text is crisp and easy to read. Unless you've been doing the homework, you're not going to understand a Chromebooks full capability--and the parameters in which it operates. Take a look. Save some dough. You'll be glad you did it.

Good Chromebook For 6 Months
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter uses this at her desk in her room for her homework. Upon opening the lid yesterday, the monitor "popped". I contacted Acer since it's only been 7 months since we purchased it and they said that monitor issues are not covered under warranty and we'd have to pay to ship it to them, $120 to repair and then pay to have it shipped back to us. Not happy and will never purchase another Acer product again. Wish I had made the purchase at Costco.

Couldn't Be Happier
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was worried that an Intel Celeron processor wouldn't be fast enough because I've heard how much better i3 Core (and up) processors are from several people. However, this computer had all the other features I wanted (4GB Ram, SSD, 2 USB ports one of which is USB 3, SD card slot, huge full HD display screen, long battery life, plus the bonuses of a very wide angle of tilt on the screen and large top mounted speakers for better sound) at a great price so I had to test it out before I blew it off. I surfed the web for about 30 minutes opening up as many tabs as I could and going as fast as I could. It kept up so I decided to add on five more tabs of websites I knew were data heavy and one of which would slow down most computers. Even with these five open plus ten others I had previously opened it still worked fine, so I popped over to YouTube and played a video. With that going I started bouncing around the tabs and it never showed a problem with keeping up once. I decided to do one last test. I closed everything and opened a YouTube video. With that one still playing I opened another, and with that one playing I opened another, and so on. I didn't notice the computer slow down at all until I opened the tenth video, which it just couldn't quite keep up with although they all still played. With nine open, however, there was no lagging or buffering at all even when I bounced between tabs. I was sold! I'm not a gamer, so I have no idea how this would work for a gamer. However, for myself, I have never had a single issue with speed and I couldn't be happier. I'm thrilled I saved my money and didn't buy a faster processor which it turns out I didn't need anyway!

Excellent Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this machine because I just wanted a simple machine to watch videos, Facebook, online games, Hulu etc. and this machine hands down is a winner. This got better benchmarks then my HP Envy with the A8 quad core in it. The 1080p IPS screen is crisp and the images are sharp and clear. Keyboard takes some getting used too but it gets the job done. The speakers are crisp and enough to fill the room. I get 8+ hours on a charge with the brightness at 40%. Great machine overall and would recommend to anyone looking for a great machine and a nice price.

No fuss, great price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My third Chromebook-- so easy to get up and going, just moments to automatically transfer everything. A larger screen this time, so a bit bulkier than my previous, but still goes with me everywhere. Fast, long battery life, recharges quickly-- what more could you want?

Great at what it is meant for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great for what it is designed for (browsing the internet and streaming.) It was a little more expensive than other Chromebooks and is large, but it is lightweight for its size, and the screen size and quality and the speakers are great for what we use it for (doesn't leave the house, stays on the table in the living room most of the time.) The speed and responsiveness are great so far.

I love My Chromebook!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time ever owning a Chromebook, and I have to say I love it! I've had it since December, and I use it for at least 4 hours a day and only have to charge it once a week! The best part yet is the speakers in this Chromebook are amazing! I also like that nothing actually downloads to the Chromebook its self; it downloads to google so that it protects the Chromebook from any harmful programs the you might like to go on. I'm personally proud to say that I made the right choice to get with this Chromebook.

Very nice Chrome Book
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice screen size, very good color, good deep and details to go along with the rest of the screen. Very fast cruising the internet compared to what had before.Only had it a few months, but no problems so far. The only down side is your keyboard does not show your backspace or delete keys that's if I remember those were the keys. You see this computer is for my wife, After I set it up and showed her what to do I haven't been able to get on it sense. You must use the shift key, or alt key,or ctrl key along with and another key on you keyboard to get the backspace and delete keys. It's no big deal, but it does add to your learning curve. The instructions that comes with the computer will show you this and what keys to use much better than I can remember at this time.

Best lap top purchase ever made
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned numerous brands of PC's and lap tops over the years. Many were bogged down at the very beginning with all kinds of stuff that I would never have used in a million years. I LOVE how clean, fast, and user friendly this machine is! We don't miss windows AT ALL! We are basic users with a small ebay business and we have not found a thing that we are unable to accomplish with this laptop. SOOOO easy to use!

Great Chromebook for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I am new to the whole Chromebook experience, I bought this Chromebook to replace an aging Toshiba laptop, and wow why didn't I do this sooner! This Acer Chromebook is fast and smoooooooth, has everything I need and more. The 1080 HD screen is bright and clear, and the viewing angles are great, battery life is awesome, and everything I had for my laptop, wireless mouse, portable hard drive works with it, enough USB ports for me and 2 years of 100gb Google Drive and I am set! Don't let this one pass you by, fast and smooth long battery life a large screen you can actually see, and a 7 second boot time and WOW!!!

Excellent for Browsing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was originally looking to buy a tablet to replace the laptop I had that died. I have a work laptop that I bring home for any real work, so I only needed something for browsing. After test driving some tablets I didn't necessarily like the small screens. This chromebook gave me exactly what I was looking for. A larger screen, very good graphics, decent sound, and SO much faster than my previous laptop. Also very reliable. I have been using it for a couple of months now and have not had to reboot it even once. So nice to get away from Windows!

Good Chromebook with Great Display.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a fan of chromebooks for the past few years after purchasing a HP Chromebook 14 which worked well. I started having some problems with that chromebook and I knew I wanted to get another chromebook for the ease of use, speed of startup, and google services. The main reasons I chose this chromebook were the 15.6 ich screen size and full 1080 high def resolution. The display on this chromebook is absolutely great. Videos on YouTube, Netflix, etc. look great. It also has great speakers. Like some others have mentioned this is a big, fairly heavy chromebook but I am using it primarily at home so that is not a big concern for me. I highly recommend!

one of the most satisfying laptops in some years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cheaper than a cellphone, giant display, clear sounding speakers, light, thin, pretty. No antivirus needed, not Windows 10, not El Capitan, no iTunes needed, thank god, no exploding battery (yet). I have setup 4 of these for friends and family in the last year. They were all skeptical at first, but after I got cloudprint to work, on ther Brother MFC and HL printers, they are in love. What's not to like? Do wish it had more memory, for more multitasking, and chrome tabs, and if there is some way to run a VM, or some way to run quicken, quickbooks, turbotax, etc. I hope it will last me 5 years, like my old Gateway Pentium running Linux Mint, before I need to get another chromebook. Thank you Acer, Google, and Best Buy.

pretty good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is my second chromebook. much faster than my ancient ex-chromebook. the 4 gb of ram makes a big difference (i think). nice big screen, speakers are ok, not great as described by others, but still a good improvement. runs fast. had to figure out some work arounds to get fotos on ebay and craigslist. tricky but do-able. chrome isn't supported as it should be but still pretty good. the space bar requires a bit more power to make a space than i am used to. many run-on words, but i am going to change my typing style a bit to make that work. my 27 inch imac looks lonely now. i hope to never need it again. so far, the chromebook is turning out to be a good tool formy needs.

Very nice easy to use chromebook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice laptop for streaming and for getting introduced into chromebooks. It's not too expensive and feels very good with a light weight sleek design. Small comfortable keyboard very nice speakers that have enough oomph for watching tv with a friend or two. Very nice screen but sometimes when going full screen it'll have a distortion line about a 4th an inch at the bottom. You'll definitely feel the lack of ram on heavier sites that load too much at once and when over doing it on multitasking. The battery lasts a good 5 hours of 1080p streaming. Or a full 8 of just web browsing. I really love this laptop overall though and feel I'll use it for at least a few years for school and casual use like streaming music and tv.

Everything you need
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great chrome book. We don't do gaming or anything hi maintenance on a computer. We surf, Facebook, pay our bills and listen to music. The speakers give it a great sound and the 1080 has excellent resolution and clarity. We love it and it does everything we need it to do. Great price.

wonderful!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this on sale! It is quick and responsive. I wanted a Macbook Air but didn't want to spend anywhere near that much. I have tried cheap Windows laptops and that is what they are! If all you want to do is surf the net, watch videos on Amazon Prime, write emails, ect., this unit will be perfect. Screen is beautiful and speakers are fine. A backlit keyboard would have been great, but for 199 I can turn on a light!
