Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought an older model of the Helios 300 in 2018 and two years later it is completely dead and will not turn on. It ran nicely at first, the screen is bright and is easy on the eyes, did everything I thought it needed to. I am not much of a gamer and had wanted something a little more robust than office worker/student targeted laptops. As I started to run it through "heavier duty" (sarcasm for those who cannot tell) tasks like open two youtube livestreams at once, it chugs, lags, and slows to a crawl. My fans span wildly any time I had more than a few tabs open. I have tried playing APEX Legends on it and it heats up to the point where the keyboard is searing hot and impossible to use. Come a few days ago, the laptop crashed. After resetting the battery per forum instructions, resat the RAM, looked for this fabled "power interrupt switch" that only exists on some models, opened the bottom up to look for anything out of place, I have managed to get an amber charging light that is only there to look like a glimmer of false hope. No matter what I try, the laptop has not turned on once. As a warning, if you are out of warranty your only option for support is the internet. When you try to call the in-warranty line they tell you to send it in for $699 for just troubleshooting. Logically speaking, the cost is not worth the headache and is better diverted to a brand new laptop or PC build.
