The computer has gone beyond my expectations of what was listed, and has worked great since I got it

I recently just purchased this laptop and I have to say, iam very impressed with the specs and the hardware of the laptop. First off, the ACER R15 boast a beautiful gorgeous IPS 10-point touch screen at 1080p. This means that you will see everything on your screen at HD resolution. The 10-point touch screen is a bonus, as you know this is a convertible laptop that turns in to a tablet at the fold of the hinge, and can draw, write notes on one-note, evernote, ect. This is perfect for people looking for a laptop to draw on . This laptop comes with a Intel Core i7 6500u dual-core low watt processor. This means that it has low power consumption which saves your battery life. As other much bigger, wider notebooks that have a quad-core for more gaming possibility, it is still as strong to run virtual machines and multitask. 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM memory translates to serious multitasking. I opened up 16 tabs on both internet explorer and google chrome at the same time while running VMWare and outlook, notebook did not flinch one bit. It handled all that processing quite well. The ACER R15 is one of the coolest notebooks I have ever owned, meaning the bottom of the notebook did not get as hot as other notebooks in the same range. It was quite cool to the touch and to actually not have my legs burn after a gaming session on the couch was A+ on my book. The ACER R15 comes with a wide array of inputs. 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, HDMI out, Media Card Reader, Headphone jack, and to top it off, it comes with a USB-C Type connector which means you can connect newer models of external SSD for lightning fast photo/video editing and faster transfer rates. Battery life is Ok, although the claim is you can get 9-10 hours of battery before you charge. You probably can with the screen dimmed all the way down running a single session of a web browser or maybe even word. I got about 6 hours top if that on a fully lighted screen doing regular things (email, web browsing, etc.) Battery life can be better. ACER R15 also comes with a full lighted keyboard that you can turn off and on or have it turn off delayed when you only press a key, thus saving battery life. The ACER R15 does not come with a CD-DVD rom drive, which is why the laptop is pretty thin to me. Everything nowadays is digital content so you don't need the CD anymore unless you have a collection of Music or DVD's that you want to add to your iTunes then you probably want to invest on a external ROM drive. Ok now for the CON side of the laptop. All the specs are near perfect for me for the price on this laptop. Except it has a HDD. The ACER R15 comes with a 1 TB Hard Disk Drive. This means that the hard drive still has physical internal parts moving, takes longer to access data than a SSD. I would of loved for this laptop to come out with an SSD but that's wishful thinking. Most laptops have a access panel at the bottom to swap out the HD in a jif, but ACER has turned this solution into a nightmare. You have 9 screws on the bottom of the laptop to remove. you have to turn the laptop around, open the screen up, snap off the top bezel, remove the keyboard, remove the 3 ribbon cables and careful you don't sever them, then you can access the HDD. this process is a pain for the regular consumer but techies out there probably wont have a problem with doing that. I just wished it had came with it. I have all nice things to say about this impressive laptop except for the HDD that slowly boots up the system. I know replacing the HDD yourself will probably void the warranty but if you can take care of your laptop and god forbid your logic board or some other hardware internally malfunctions, you shouldn't have a problem for the life of your laptop. I have never purchased an ACER PC before but so far, this has got to be one of my better buys I've done in a while. ACER, your climbing to the top with computers like these!

I bought this lap top because of the good reviews and because it looked great and had everything I needed. I took it home and it had an update, then I went to use it and it was INCREDIBLY SLOW. I don't understand why but I did notice it already had a bunch of programs loaded on it. To be exact there were probably 10 or 15 desktop icons. I would think buying something new would have a fresh clean slate and ready for ME to put what I want on it. I return it and bought a dell and haven't been happier. I actually got a better Dell with a bigger screen for the same price.

First a little about me, I built my first laptop when I was in the 8th grade from parts off amazon, I use countless programs such as Python, Photoshop, auto desk 3ds Max, and others. I know my stuff about computers. The screen has a maximum brightness of 310 nits (one nit is = to one candle). The processor is great, colors are nice and vivid, I can play dungeon defenders 2 1920x1080 Max settings, I can play trove that way too. The computer has a great battery life (7 hours if you know how to tweak it) the speakers are surprisingly loud for a computer, the touch screen is great, this is an excellent buy for the money. Also I got 150$ off for being enrolled in college so it was an even better buy for me. I'd give it 10 out of 5 stars

Unfortunately, the Acer R15 laptops have a screen defect. There is a serious light bleed problem along the top and bottom of the screen. The first of these laptops that I ordered arrived at Best Buy with the box smashed and I had to return it on the spot, so I didn't get to check the screen on that one. The second, I brought home and began setting up. On reboot, I noticed a strong light bleed at the bottom of the screen near the hinges. On a black or very dark screen, it appears like a white smudge, even if it's not visible during everyday tasks. It would be very visible on anything with a dark background. So I returned it and picked up a new one. The replacement has an even worse light bleed problem than the first. I picked up these laptops from 2 different locations is different states, so it's not just an isolated problem. Acer is shipping defective units. Sadly I can't recommend this laptop despite the specifications being what I was looking for. Be sure to check your screen within the return period. I chose this laptop because it has very good specs (12GB RAM, i7 6th generation processor, 1TB, dedicated graphics, etc). When I saw it in the store, I felt that the body had a good, sturdy build quality. The keyboard is comfortable and the touchpad decent. The only other issue I had with it besides the light bleed is the graphics. While the screen is reasonably bright on maximum setting (default) and text is crisp and clear, images tend to have a yellowy hue over them which will need to be calibrated. On top of that, Acer has a tool that you enable for "Color Intelligence", which helps with better lighting for photos, but not so much with things like product images, so it is an imperfect solution that you have to keep adjusting. I found YouTube videos to be fuzzy, even in HD, in comparison with my 7-year-old Acer laptop that I set up next to it. Finally, this laptop ships with an unfathomable amount of bloatware. Give yourself a few days to get rid of it, if you can.

Not happy at all. The fan is on all the time. For an Intel i7 it is not what it should. The PC is slow. Don't buy.

This is my first Acer laptop. I like it a lot. It has a great HD screen. Battery life is good. I haven't had any issued with it. The sound the speakers produce is great. The touchscreen is a nice feature. You can turn it into a big tablet if you want. The screen can swivel 360 degrees. It is very handy to have that ability. It charges fairly quickly to full power. Also, having the latest Wifi (AC) is very nice. I can download and upload things so much more quickly. It comes with 1TB HDD and 12GB of RAM. It can multitask nicely. I really like this laptop. Overall, I fully recommend it!
