I left a previous review about how the laptop is extremely laggy, making it difficult to use. Since then, I have unsuccessfully attempted to contact Acer using both the link they posted (was expired when I tried to use it 3 weeks later) and via the support center (kept hanging up on me after putting me on hold for >30 min). I'm extremely disappointed in their service and would not recommend buying from them again.

My Acer Gateway's fan broke after several years of excellent condition. I then purchased this Acer Aspire laptop which after 2-1/2 weeks I recognize as a lemon. The screen jumps up and down, circles all over the screen and cursor, touchscreen, mouse inoperative. Acer could not resolve the issues. I cannot provide a better review due to my inability to use the Acer Aspire.

I was used to a old laptop, heavy, slow and bulky, and hot! With the SSD drive it boots in 5 seconds, and is so cool it is amazing . I can't belief it doesn't put out heat. I thought it didn't have a backlite keyboard because it was not mentioned in the specs but it does, with a 6th gen i7 and 480 plus ssd drive, it is the best buy for 2 in 1's . I love the way you can turn it over and use it like a iPhone or tablet, with the touch feature, and the battery lasts a long time.

Purchased to replace 5 yr old laptop at home. Great for social media, social media games, etc. Easy to use. Still figuring out Windows 10 after years of Windows 7, but the transition has been easy. Like the touch screen and folding features on this model.

    I GOT A BAD ONE

I bought the i5 Version first and everything work flawlessly, fast, rotation, speaker, mics camera all work properly, i really like it so i went in and exchange it for the i7 with more storage too, well i got a bad one, the moment i open the box the laptop doesnt even have a charge in the battery, i charge it up, turn on works fine then the speaker blows up, there is no mic detection and voice just dont work, i even enable it in the speaker/recording section. i thought it was a driver but then soon i try to rotate the laptop and it would rotate then freeze i thought it was the freeze rotation turned on but it wasnt and i cant even rotate back i have to restart the laptop. now its booting up and making the static speaker/mic sound, this is a bad one i know for sure that the laptop is good i was just unlucky.

Lots Of Features For The Price

I was looking for a decent laptop that was lightweight enough to travel with easily, but that still had decent performance. This ACER laptop has been working out great, it's snappy, it has HDMI, USB 3.0, USB 3.1 Type C, a Full-HD Screen, Backlit Keyboard, Windows 10 and the body doesn't attract fingerprints like many other notebooks on the market. I bought this laptop to do basic office work, Internet browsing and mild media viewing. This laptop easily handles these tasks. I would obviously not recommend for serious content creation with the lack of a discreet graphics card and the non-expandable storage and RAM. This laptop isn't intended to replace a powerful desktop PC, but rather to give you some of that functionality while away from home. This laptop worked out so well, that I am picking up a second one. I just wish that it was still at the sale price I picked it up for a couple months ago, cause it was nearly $100 less.

    Great computer for the money

I bought this Acer after my old Toshiba hard drive failed catastrophically. Wanted SSD and fast processor with touch screen. This is the best computer with premium components at a bargain price when you compare to others with similar specs. Love the fast booting and am getting used to Windows 10 although I was somewhat suspicious after all of the bad reports on Windows 8. Despite some criticism about the screen brightness, I find it quite good overall. Would definitely buy this computer again if I needed one.

Really Wanted to Love This Laptop

Great specs, great physical attributes. This a fast laptop with a rock solid video. Not crazy about Windows 10 but I'm starting to adapt. I don't use the touch screen much, I still like to use a mouse. The touchpad is interesting - I'm trying to get used to it but it's taking some time. Since I still prefer a mouse, I bought a good Bluetooth mouse and that's where the problems started. Bluetooth randomly disappears. It's isn't the mouse. Bluetooth disappears from Setting > Devices - it just isn't there at all. It also disappears from Device Manager. I try rebooting, searching support forums, etc and I get nothing. Then Bluetooth will suddenly reappear - sometimes hours later, sometimes the next day. I also have a couple Bluetooth speakers that I use to play music and watch streaming content. So, I have a fast laptop that is only partially functional about 15% of the time. If I could do it again, I would definitely not buy this laptop . . . and being my first Acer product, I will not be a repeat customer.

    Beware of WiFi issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

There appears to be an inherent issue with Windows 10 on this laptop where the wireless connection would randomly drop and fails to detect any available access point. The issue sometimes may resolve on its own and sometime won't be corrected until a system reboot is performed. After spending almost two weeks tracking down this issue, it turned out to be an issue caused by multiple factors. First, the issue only occurs if the system was upgraded from Windows 8/8.1 to Windows 10 (which is what is done in this case at the factory) when a VPN software is installed (which is present in this system, again, from factory). The fix is to cmpletely remove the network driver from the system, reboot, and then reinstall the driver. If you want to continue to use the VPN software then you will need to uninstall the VPN software and then reinstall it. I'm honestly surprised that Acer let this issue slip through during QA. Normally I'd chalk this one up as a one time coincidence, but I ran into this issue with both the 16GB and the 8GB model of this ultrabook. Hopefully this helps someone else who is having this issue as well.

Nice Quality at a reasonable price

I purchased this laptop when on sale and for the price, it performs very well, looks nice, and appears to be of good quality. The brushed aluminum top cover and keyboard surface plate provide a nice quality look and feel, while the more compliant base cover reduces the laptop sliding around. It had all of the minimum features that I was looking for: 512 GB minimum SSD, backlit keyboard, being able to disable the touchpad. With the SSD, the boot up time is very quick and the file access response is quite fast including when moving files to USB 3 devices. Battery life and overall weight are both very reasonable making for a good travelling laptop taking into consideration the durability of the case enclosure and SSD. Overall very happy, and Windows 10 is a little better than Windows 8.1. I only gave it 4 stars as I too experience the Intel graphics error handling glitch at least half a dozen times per day even after updating the Intel 520 display driver. The glitch isn't too distracting as it self recovers fairly quickly, but is still an annoyance.

Acer is making some of the best laptips out there. This particular laptop / tablet is a great product. Extremely fast startup due tongrest processor as well as ssd. There was a Toshiba there with the same specs but cost more. Also the acer has eye popping true hd resolution. Very light in weight. The only downside is that RAM standard is locked in at 8g with no way to add. 8 is more than enough for me but it may be an issue for someone else. I highly recommend this even with that issue.

    Haywire out of the box

I bought this laptop because it had everything on it I wanted and some. The reviews were great although there were not a lot (11) yet. I got home unpacked the laptop and got started setting it up. Almost immediately I started having problems with it. The touchscreen began activating rapidly and randomly without even being touched. I was pretty much unable to do anything until I figured out how to disable the touchscreen. Once I got that under control I started looking into updates, patches, fixes. I figured someone else must have had this problem already. Nope. Contacted Acer support and posted in their forums with the only real response I got to do a factory reset! It was fresh out of the box! how much more factory can we get!!!!! I'll be returning the laptop to Best Buy when they are open. I don't think I'll be replacing it with the same model as much as I would like to. The support is just not that good in the event there are problems.

    Snappy

Excellent performance, fast. After using a 15.6" laptop for the last few years, I've had to adjust to keys with less travel, and slightly different layout, and size. The f keys and cursor keys are on the small side, as is the palm rest. Apart from this, I'm very happy with the machine. The quietness is a big plus, as is the lack of heat generated which makes it very comfortable to work with.

    Very Disappointing

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I spent a lot of time in the store and online trying to find a SSD laptop. I ended up going with this because the reviews I found weren't bad, the price was reasonable, and the laptop had most of the features I wanted. This is my first experience with Acer and I am pretty disappointed. If the computer worked properly, it would actually be a great machine. When it is operating well it is pretty fast, relatively light, portable, and has some great features. However, it is the buggiest computer I have owned. I finally had to turn off the touchscreen function as it would randomly act as if an invisible hand was touching all over the screen. It crashes about once a week. The bluetooth connection is spotty. The most recent bug is with the touch pad, It is just not working well. When using it with one finger, it acts like you are using, two. At almost 1000.00, this was way too much to spend on a computer with this many issues.

    Versatile

This computer is definitely versatile. The hinges work great. Easy to make it a tablet. My biggest issue with it is that it keeps locking up while I trying to extreme Xfinity over Wi-Fi. Then I switch to my iPad and it works flawlessly. So that's a huge disappointment for me.

I in the past I have a problems with Acer, why did I even think about wasting my time. Saw this one, and liked it, still in the back of my head was questioning it, but it had somewhat good reviews. I got it home, all went well, its fast, set up was fast, and I input all my information in. The next morning comes, I left it sleep all night, just to see how to wake it up, and when I went to wake it up, it said there was no driver.... it crashed! I new better before I purchased, to good of a deal. So no more Acer for me. Good luck to the rest of the customers.

PSU Died in 5 Minutes; Get Dell Inspiron Instead

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Pros: None if you can't charge it due to PSU failure. Cons: PSU can easily fail, has Intel graphics chip that is not compatible with Windows 10 (crashes a lot), ugly black, USB C of no use for a long time yet to come, consumes a lot more power than a Dell Inspiron, too bulky for any practical convertible / tablet use.
