The Acer Aspire XC-830-UB11 is a great computer for anyone that needs a simple workstation or a small computer for a home media center. If you are looking for a gaming computer or a 'pro' pc, this is not the one for you, but if you just need a computer for your work/office or if you want something small and light to use in your media center, then this is a good choice for you. I personally have been using this computer as a media computer in my living room, the fact that it has a DVD drive and the small footprint make it fit great into my media center. I have installed Plex and am using this computer as a client to watch movies off of my main computer in my living room and it works great for this use case. The keyboard and mouse that are included are not very good quality, but if you don't already have one, it is included so you don't need to provide your own if needed. The 8Gb of RAM is fine, it would be nice to have more, but I think for this type of desktop it is plenty for most tasks. My only complaint is the SSD is only 256Gb so if you are saving stuff on the computer itself it will quickly use up the available hard-drive space, I personally would recommend saving everything on either an external hard-drive or using some kind of cloud storage. The computer is easily upgradable so if you do need more hard-drive space, you can replace the current SSD or add another drive using the PCIe slot that is available on the motherboard. Be aware that if you do require more memory than the 8Gb of RAM, this processor does not support more than 8Gb so it already includes the max supported memory in this configuration, if you need more memory you would need to check if there is another configuration with a different CPU that supports more memory. Overall this is a great computer for anyone who just needs to do light work or for someone who wants to use the small size and DVD drive as a home media center. If you need more power or your work requires graphics or high compute power then this isn't a good option for you.

When I meet anyone and they learn I work for a software company, no one hears that my job has nothing to do with computer support or repair. They just hear "oh hey, he can fix computers and knows everything." It's not long before the question "What computer should I buy" makes its way into any conversation. After a week with this desktop, I would respond that if you were looking for a computer to browse the web and run Microsoft Office, but don't want a laptop, and you have no plans to ever play video games on the device, than this desktop might be a good fit for you. It's slim, it's light, and it's quiet. No frills, no fuss, just a basic desktop. I do wish Acer had invested a bit more money with the included mouse, which really does feel like something you would pickup at Goodwill. Should you make it to the point of upgrading what's inside, the case requires removing two screws to open. The RAM and SSD hard drive are drop dead simple to locate, access, and replace should you want to bump up the performance of the device as all of the stock parts in this thing are very low performance components. Low performance is not a bad thing, just know going into this purchase that it does best as a very basic word processor and web browser. Overall, it's nice to have a simple no frills desktop that doesn't raise my electricity bill, just do yourself a favor and recycle the included mouse and spend a few more bucks on a better mouse.

I wanted a cheap computer for a couple things. I don't know what this is but it doesn't seem to care what I want, it only wants to get on the internet and do things I don't care about or need. It keeps asking for my phone number. So I tried to install a more useful operating system or hard drive to use it for something else and it's just saying no to everything. I'll buy parts on amazon and put my own box together. I should have done that to begin with, I would have saved time and money and ended up with a much better computer anyway.

No directions or manual. Power cord plug in too tight to allow a vga monitor cable to be hooked in. Pretty slow. Over priced for the budget computer it is. But it will get the job done

The HDMI output does not work. I have no idea how I am going to fix that. No display port for output so 6 weeks after purchase I am still trying to figure out how to make a second monitor work. Acer tech support is a joke, they hung up on me twice

This Acer desktop computer was extremely easy to setup and get running right away. It does not come with a monitor so you'll have to supply your own but as this is considered more of a budget pc, you can still afford a decent one. Once unboxed, I plugged everything in. There is a basic mouse and keyboard included that you will most likely want to upgrade at some point. Go with a wireless set as they will be much better made than what's included. There are six USB ports along with audio jacks on the front and back so you can connect a microphone and speakers. After the hardware was all setup, I ran the relevant Windows 11 and hardware driver updates and then configured the couple of user accounts I needed. This took about an hour in total but everything worked like a charm. For the standard configuration, this comes with an Intel Celeron processor, an integrated video card, 8GB of ram and a 256GB SSD hard drive. It is definitely on the smaller size when you look at the desktop market these days but knowing that this is more of a basic budget pc, it will do the trick for your day to day tasks such as movie or entertainment streaming and less memory intensive games. Windows boots quickly and applications load fast as well. You won't be doing intense video editing with this machine but it would be great for going through email, running Microsoft Office products and keeping your photographs organized. I like this computer for someone needing a basic machine to put in a spare room or a student needing to write papers and work on smaller projects. Definitely recommend if you need the basics.
