Next level chrome book! Fast, easy to use, and very portable. The stylus tucked under the keyboard is brilliant. A mouse comes with it and that is much appreciated. Touch screen is super sleek and very responsive.
However, it isn’t easy to take the top off from the mouse in order to put in a battery or find the usb piece. I also dropped the mouse and part of one of the clips to keep the top on broke. Still an excellent chrome book.

I bought this based on specs and how wonderful my Acer 713 has performed. I hoped the complaints here were overblown, but they weren't:
- The mouse pad rattles to the point you will hear it even using the lightest tap on the pad
- The speakers will pop just opening a page/app that uses sound, even if no sound is playing and volume is on mute
Compared to the previous version of the Chromebook, it is quite overpriced. The Black Friday pricing on this one is closer to a realistic list price in my opinion. The screen, keyboard, mouse, and overall chassis/thickness is a downgrade. The only thing it has going for it is the built in stylus, but even that is worse. The universal USI stylus is great in concept, Google can't seem to get the palm rejection sorted. My 713 (not USI, Acer's own stylus/palm rejection) is excellent. This 714 and my other two Chromebooks with USI are unusable unless you firmly plant your hand on the screen and don't move it.

It’s hard to believe I’ve had this almost a year. It’s my first Chromebook, and I love it. No more Windows lag with constant updates that take forever to install, making the computer slow and glitchy. This Chromebook starts up fast, letting me get right to work. My only complaint is battery life. It does not last long, but it does charge fast.

One thing keeps me from rating it 5-stars.......the volume control doesn't allow for loud enough volume. I've never encountered that before!

OK so i bought this to replace a Pixelbook Go when its hinges went out. In many ways this is a better (newer) machine. Brighter screen, more ports. Keyboard and trackpad are pretty good. Faster/more responsive. Speakers are good but not as good as PG; have to use full volume for Netflix, et al. Battery life has been good, charges fast. Heavy compared w/ PG (3lbs vs 2). Seems very solidly built.
The BIG FAIL is the sound... At times the speakers just go mute; other times they get all static-y. In either case, the only resolution is to reboot. Annoying AF. Haven't tried connecting BT headphones when this happens yet. Also connection with Pixel phone worked fine for a while but hasn't lately even after rebooting both. And for some reason some video streaming (eg, Netflix, AmznPrime) will refuse to play after it's been closed all night, requires reboot.
So far after 2 months still not up to date on latest ChromeOS version; also annoying.
Bottom line it's a good chromebook for the sale price but they have some bugs to work out.
Delivery from BB was a day early and flawless. Often have problems with deliveries at this address but this one was on point.

This chromebook was bought for web surfing most of the time, and some light gaming. Overall it's a good product but the downsides were just too much for my liking.
Good;
Very fast
great screen that is bright enough
16:10 aspect ratio
Bad;
small touchpad
loose touchpad, would give a little while using it
popping noise when using sound, youtube, spotify etc.
screen would sometimes freeze when flipping it to tablet mode

I bought two of these and both have the same issues. When you close the lid bluetooth shuts itself off, which makes smartlock unusable. There are random speaker pops STILL as of February 2023. The screen looks dingy yellow and not bright white like it should. Very disappointed as I had an Acer Spin 13 from 2019 that was flawless until the internals started feeling slow.

Purchased for work. So much quicker than the previous laptop purchased. Love that it included a pen & mouse. The flip to tablet feature is also nice. Which we got a bigger screen but also like it’s compact size me weight when carrying it back and forth from home to office.

My Acer Spin was my second Acer Chromebook. The first one, purchased in 2016, is still going strong. A delightful practical rugged machine. My Spin, purchased in 2021 already has a faulty track pad and a black blob in the corner of the screen. I am outside warranty so I asked Acer for a screen repair quote. It was $489.99 plus tax and freight. It looks like quality has fallen and after sales service is prohibitively expensive. Hence the poor review.

Dear JoeMax, We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with the repair fee for your Acer Chromebook. Our repair fees are flat rate depending on the model, and cover what issue(s) are reported when the repair is set up. In this case if the touchpad and LCD screen are to be replaced, both would be covered under this flat rate. We understand you are unhappy with the repair fee. As you are out of warranty you do have the option to take the Chromebook to any repair shop of your choice. If you would like us to repair your Chromebook please let us know. We appreciate you taking the time to write this review. Regards, Acer America

Got the device for my wife it has a great build latest Intel CPU good screen plus styles. Overall a good price for the device my only small issue is there is a pop cracking sound that comes from the speakers every know and then. I think Acer is looking more into this I've seen others bring this up so hopefully its something they can address. Overall it's a good device.

I bought this thinking it was an upgrade to my Acer Spin 713 which I like a lot. It is not that at all. In everything but the processor itself, it's actually a noticeable downgrade.
Right out of the gate, the trackpad feels super sloppy. You just touch it and there's this noticeable give to it, and it makes an annoying sound. Another review on the Best Buy site confirms this. I was just hoping that person got a lemon. Even the tracking of the cursor with my finger movements feels somewhat off. This in comparison to the 713, which has a really nice feeling solid trackpad.
On top of that, the screen on the 714 is noticeably not as nice. I might go as far as saying it's kind of garbage-y. I was rocking a Toshiba Chromebook 2 for a long while, and the screen feels very similar to that. The 713 next to me looks so crisp, while on the 714 everything looks somewhat muddled. The settings on my 714 are at default 1536x960. The settings on my 713 are at default 1410x940. Just looking at my gmail homepage, the profile picture of my google account, while very small, looks so crisp and nice on my 713 and then I look at the exact same image on my 714 and it's a blurry mess with no defined lines. I did a monitor test on the EIZO website and the 714 objectively failed the frequency pattern test. All the individual lines just blur together. The 713 on the other hand looks great. The icons in the tabs at the top of my screen are really crisp and defined on my 713 whereas on the 714, again, noisy mess. On top of that, I have both devices' brightness all the way up and the 713 feels brighter and the colors are much more vibrant.
The speakers being under the 713 have really annoyed me since I got it but I just did a comparison between the two and the 713 with the underside speakers sounds way better. I haven't had the crackling issues others have had but the sounds just flat out isn't as good.
All in all, I really cannot recommend this computer (for the price) and will ultimately be returning mine.

great chromebook, keyboard is nice to use, battery life is decent and charging doesnt take very long. Software and apps are snappy and the screen is fantastic to look at. The only issue is that bluetooth turns off and has to be manually turned on after the machine goes into sleep mode.
