This was a gift for my mother. Easy to set up. Basic tablet

The first thing that stood out to me when opening the package was the weight of the box. This is a 10.1-inch tablet so I expected it to have a little heft but this took me by surprise. When I removed the Acer Iconia One from the box, the first thing I noticed was the feel of the back of the tablet. This is an inexpensive tablet but the feel of the plastic case is smooth and silky. I was impressed it shipped with a screen protector already installed, all you had to do was remove the top protective layer. Unlike an iPad, the Acer Iconia One is designed to be held in landscape rather than portrait. although the screen does rotate when you flip it, the camera on the back protrudes a little bit and is exactly where your hand sits when holding it. Already having a google account and another android tablet, setup was a breeze. After logging in, my previous programs were installed from my backup. Using the Ace Iconia tablet is just like any other android tablet. Running Android 5.1 lollipop, the tablet ships with last year’s version of the OS. The display seems bright and colorful but it's 1200x800 resolution is a bit of a disappointment compared to other tablets with 1920x1080 or higher or iPad products with “retina” displays. It's not so much a problem for graphics but text on some web pages like Facebook seem a little blurry. There are two small speakers on each side of the display when held in landscape. The sound from the tablet has ok volume but sounds very tinny and base rumbles and cracks. Headphones are definitely preferred over the built in speakers. The tablet also is good for pairing to Bluetooth speakers for playing audio like Pandora. This model has 32GB storage so there is plenty of room to store your music or videos. Acer pre-installs it's own software programs that may appeal to some. There is a multi-tasking program that lets you split the screen and run two applications at the same time. This is great in theory and does work with most google apps, like calendar and chrome. This leads to probably the biggest negative. The Acer Iconia tab only has 1GB ram. 1GB may have been sufficient on older android versions and phones but with most tablets shipping with 2-3gb or more ram, this is probably the largest negative. Conveniently, Acer also includes a system doctor application which dumps/clears the ram, which you will be doing fairly regularly. Even viewing web sites in chrome caused the low memory icon to appear. Cameras. Well let’s just say this tablet has 2 of them, one for selfies on the front side and a 5 megapixel on the back for snapshots & video. Pictures were just ok in bright sunlight. Low light pictures were grainy and blurry. Pros: Inexpensive Good battery life Feel 32GB ram storage and memory card slot Cons: Display Speakers 1GB ram Overall this is an ok tablet. Consider the reasons you are purchasing a tablet first. The 1GB ram and constant low memory reminders become a bit annoying. With all the competition, I would have a difficult time recommending this to anyone unless there was a really low sale price.

Love this tablet it is use friendl in accessing all the apps.

I was pleasantly surprised when I started using my Acer tablet. The display is wonderful and includes Google play so I can Download all my favorite applications.

This have been the best Android Acer tablet for the price.

This tablet is built tough. Our 11 year-old has been playing on it and dropping for almost a year with no issues. He enjoys playing all of his apps on his tablet.

I bought this for my mother, who would only use limited features in any tablet I would purchase. Unfortunately the sound and video quality of this product were too poor to be able to enjoy this device for any type of communication (Skype, Hangouts, etc.). I returned it the next day. If you don't have high expectations, at all, it is a very cheap tablet. Just not good enough for my purposes.

Bought this for my grandchild as a first tablet. She loves it, very easy to set up the clarity is really great for the price and above all else she loves it.

I just received the Iconic One tablet and have been using it for about a week. It was easy for me to set up and search the internet successfully right away. I am by no means a tech expert, but feel I am an average user of tablets, etc. The size of the screen is great and the weight is perfect to use resting on your hand or lap. I like the overall feel of this tablet. It came with Google Chrome which was nice. I mainly have been using it for internet searching and checking email, but I did download a game via the app store to see how it plays games. No issues there. The sound and screen were great and the game played perfectly. I did decide I needed a case since the tablet alone would not be protected from a drop. This is where I found the most frustration. I went to 2 stores and could find no cases that specifically fit the Iconia One. 95% of the cases available were for the iPad. I did find a few universal cases for 10 inch tablets, but they all had elastic corners to slide the tablet into and did not seem very secure. I ended up ordering a case with detachable Bluetooth keyboard online. It should be here next week. That is really the only negative thing about this tablet, the lack of accessories. Overall, I am very pleased with the Iconia One so far. It fits my purposes and I like the size and feel of it. The battery lasts and the screen is very clear. The camera seems average in it's resolution, although I haven't taken many pictures yet. Not sure how the memory is yet as I have only downloaded one game and I do not do a lot of streaming of video, etc. I think for a basic tablet, the Iconia One is perfect. Once I receive my case, I will feel more comfortable using it away from the house. I will continue to add apps and hope the storage is sufficient.
