I bought this when my Kindle died. It is amazingly versatile for a low price. When I have access to wifi, it is easier to use then my phone, because it is larger (for old eyes!). It has more storage than my phone, too. The camera is not great. Phone wins there. The battery lasts longer, it is lightweight, I love it!

I purchased as a gift for my child. It has a decent size screen. plenty of storage for apps and pictures. The apps do not freeze this product supports them. had it for over a year no problems. Very durable and has a sd card compartment. the only problem the charger stopped working after 4 months purchased another one no big deal. great product at a reasonable price

I've had this device for 5 months now and it works ok. The charge does last long but the screen does flash in and out when surfing the web. The size is great and the price was awesome. I like the fact I added a 32 gb sim card so it has lots of memory. It's great for what I bought it for and I would buy this again.

There is nothing left desired about this tablet. Yes, admittedly the battery does not last as long as others on the market, but, it outperforms beyond my expectations. I can run any app and game that I want. With high performance and great response times for the money. I heard that Asphalt 8 was not recommended for this tablet, but I think that the game runs fine. I like the size. It is big enough to be satisfied with, each to hold with one hand, can be easily mistaken for an iPad, has a great weight, and is great for business. The outlook is beautiful for this small sized machine.

I purchased this tablet as a backup due to my other tablet starting to show its age and slow down alot. This is a great starter tablet for anyone new to the tablet industry. It came pre-loaded with games/activities for children, all of which can be deleted. I loved the fact that this tablet is expandable up to 32GB in addition to the 16GB installed. Battery life is decent as well as volume. I have used this tablet on a day to day basis and love it. I will recommend this tablet with the basic features and the price.

Good amount of memory for the price. Better priced than Samsung and more memory capacity and larger screen for the price. In the past I have bought 2 acer laptop one was a mini which lasted 10 yrs forgot to upgraded to windows 10, its still functionable and the second is a touchscreen which I love. The brand Acer does all the things are major design brands we love cause easiness of getting fixed . Acer is not far behind at least with them you can fix alot of the issues yourself.

Qualify my 4 stars that it is based on the fact that this was for my 4yo son and the price I got it at (I paid $70 or $80). This tablet is pretty solid. No real complaints on freezing or processing time. Has been reasonably sturdy (kids drop constantly, and not yet broken). Screen is pretty good. Battery life is decent. Two major complaints, which would make me not buy this for myself. Casing does feel cheap. But my biggest complaint is the audio sucks. Doesn't really suck for a 4yo, but for me I wouldn't even want it.

Good tablet for the price--especially for kids

The best thing about the Acer Iconia One 8" tablet is the price. Finding a tablet that works well and is reliable for under $100 is an amazing thing these days, particularly if you have several young children like I do. You can get one of these for three children for the same price as an ipad mini. To be clear it's NOT an Ipad mini, but it is a solid tablet that can run most anything.
The tablet itself is attractive--white plastic with a good looking screen. It's light and easy to hold. If you are going to let young children use it I do recommend a solid case, as the tablet is plastic and will bend (and likely break) if put under too much stress.
The instructions recommend charging it out of the box, but mine came fully charged (I have no idea if this is typical or not). Set up was a breeze--it walks you through step-by-step and takes less than five minutes. It's an android operating system so it uses the google play app store. You can also link it to Amazon's app store fairly easily. There are quite a few links to "recommended" apps already on the tablet. They are easy to install if you're interested, and easy to remove if you're not.
The screen itself is good, with bright, vivid colors. I tested a high definition movie through the Vudu app, and while it played, it did not look great. Less than HD videos played perfectly fine, and looked as good as they could. In my experience kids do not mind at all if the video quality isn't excellent, so this may or may not matter, but if you're particular about having the best video quality you probably want to look elsewhere. I tried a couple of game apps (the farm app and a star wars game) and the video quality on those was outstanding, with no noticeable chop or washing out of the picture.
The processor is good enough that games played very smoothly, even when a lot was happening on screen. I did notice with extended game play (an hour or more) the tablet did get warm. Not so hot as to be uncomfortable to hold but noticeably warmer--this happens near the camera so I'm assuming that's where the processor is located.
Speaking of the camera, it's not great and subpar when compared to more expensive tablets. Kids won't care, but most tablets these days have better cameras than this, so it is a knock.
There is a minimum of memory on the tablet, but it is expandable. You are limited by which apps allow themselves to be stored on a memory card (many don't), but the expanded memory slot is fantastic for storing movies to watch on long car trips. You can find micro SD cards up to 128mb, which can hold hundreds of hours of movies--perfect for long car trips.
The description states the battery should last about nine hours with extended use. The longest I used it (between myself and my kids) was about three hours, but the rate it was using the battery looked to be about right for lasting nine hours overall. It uses a micro USB charger for charging, which is great since nearly everything in our household does as well. It's easy to charge either in a car or at home. A wall-charger is included.
Overall if you're looking for a cut-rate tablet that works well you can't go wrong with this one--particularly since it has a one year warranty on parts and labor. It's especially recommended for kids.

Great tablet for the price. Very compact and has a powerful processor that is comparable to the more expensive samsung tablets. This tablet is great for checking email, surfing the web, and or playing games. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to save money and yet not miss out on any features. I have an 8 inch digiland tablet, iPad, and galaxy tab 3 and can say that this Acer Iconia One keeps up.

Good graphics, good speed, good battery life, and it works well. Bad points are; only 2 foot charging cable (standard mini usb and usb 2.0), and it takes about 20 to30 seconds to boot up, maybe that's standard too, first tablet.

Purchased this Acer tablet for my kid who is 2 yrs old for mere 80 bucks, accidentally happen to see this by browsing through many tablets at best buy, its got great family-friendly features especially for the kids , one is kids center app, that includes parental controls and child friendly interfaces, the kid will always stay in the kid app center, and if he needs to move into normal mode i.e other apps like youtube or so, he wont be able to go, due to parental controls. which i feel is good.
Good battery life, 8 inch a little big for the toddler, but, they will get used to it. what amazed me was the 16 GB internal storage capacity with an additional 128 GB of micro SD that can be used, u can put all the videos downloaded into the SD card, and leave the kid watching the videos or games, sufficient for a long drive without the use of internet for watching videos.
For a price of 80$, its just worth, good video quality, sound, and it is not possible to get an special case, You can use a general purpose 8" tablet case available at bestbuy for some bucks.

I bought two for the kids. Seems like it will be a good tablet for them. Not the fastest, not the best screen, but it gets the job done. Loved the price. If you are tech-picky, you may want to definitely get something nicer. It is way better than most of the more generic foreign tablets in the same price range.

Tablet has good resolution and battery life. It is pretty fast switching apps and surfing web. Only issue was stopped charging after 20 days. Had to send back to Acer and wait for servicing. It did come back quick though and has worked fine ever since. That was 3 months ago.

Absolutely wonderful tablet, I bought it to replace my nexus 7 that finally died after 4 years of heavy use. This tablet feels like an upgrade over the nexus 7 in every way, at half the price.
Pros: Lightning quick, nice display quality, seems solidly built
Cons: only thing so far is that as other reviewers have commented the built in speakers are rather quiet even at max volume, however this is a non-issue for us because we use bluetooth speakers.
Decided to buy a second tablet for the husband for when his nexus 7 inevitably dies also.

Decent Entry-Level Tablet, But Lacks Power

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Full disclosure: I primarily use Apple devices (including iPads), so this was my first meaningful experience with an Android device. That being said, I was happy to give this a try to see just how capable a sub-$100 tablet could be. Bottom line: if you're in need of a powerful workhorse, look elsewhere. But for basic tasks and light gaming, this tablet might fit the bill.
PROS:
- Nice, lightweight form factor makes the tablet easy to hold in one hand and is comfortable for long stretches of use.
- Easy setup, especially if you already have a Google or Gmail account.
- Decent screen. This isn't "retina" quality like modern iPads, but it has nice viewing angles and rich colors.
- The inclusion of a microSD card slot makes it easy to expand the storage space of this tablet and load music or videos.
- Decent battery life - should last most of the day with normal use.
- Performance is decent enough for light web browsing, email, e-books, music, videos, and light gaming.
CONS:
- Performance pales in comparison to most modern tablets. Full websites (not the mobile-optimized versions) are slow to load and often glitch or judder as you scroll through them. Switching between apps and browser tabs forces content to reload. There is often a lag between tapping an item on the screen and the tablet finally responding. Larger apps like Microsoft Word take a long time to launch.
- Spotty Wi-Fi performance. Over the course of three days, the tablet lost its connection to my Wi-Fi network over 5 times. To fix this, I had to go into the Settings menu and manually reconnect to my network. I haven't had this issue with any of my other devices.
- Horrible -- and I mean HORRIBLE -- cameras. Seriously, please don't use this tablet as a primary camera. I couldn't get either the front- or rear-facing cameras to focus on anything. Pictures are blurry and pixelated.
- Awful speaker. If you're planning on using this tablet for music or videos, I would HIGHLY recommend using headphones. The speaker is muffled and tinny. It's placed such that your hand will cover it up while holding the tablet.
- Acer has included a bunch of bloatwear. While easily removed, it's still annoying.
- The charging/USB port is awkwardly placed at the top of the tablet, which makes the tablet difficult to use while a cable is plugged in.
Overall: If you're looking for a tablet for kids, or just need something basic to check email and use basic apps, give this one a look. The price-point is unbeatable, and this is certainly a great value. If you're looking to get any real work done, or if you're a power user who needs to multitask, then keep looking -- this one's not for you.

This is a great little budget tablet that I enjoyed. I was a loyal Android phone user since the HTC Hero days all the way up to a Samsung S5 before switching over to the dark side for an ipad and then over to the Iphone 6 plus. This was a welcome little change up from the iWorld I've been living in.
As others have mentioned, this is no ipad but it also does not cost you nearly as much as an ipad.
I've had no issues with Iconia One 8 thus far. I like the screen size, screen resolution and the quickness of the tablet. It's only 16gb, but the fact that it has a micro SD slot makes up for that.
Here are some pros I found:
Screen Resolution. Looks good playing games and watching netflix.
Size of tablet. Smaller than an Ipad mini and can fit in some pockets (jacket, cargo shorts etc) if need be.
Ease of use
Micro SD slot!
Miracast
Battery life seems good!
Kids Center app with an option to lock the screen
No physical on screen buttons (for kids to press)
Feels like a good quality build for it's price point
Price. Under $100 and even cheaper on sale.
Here are some cons I found:
Slick white backing on the tablet - It was the first thing I noticed. It feels like it may slip out of my hand when holding it. I recommend some type of case. and screen protector.
Speakers - Not good, but for a tablet in this price point it's to be expected. Will likely be streaming music to bluetooth devices or thru the 3.5 jack instead of listening to it thru the provided speakers.
Camera - Leaves a little to be desired. 2mp front, 5mp rear but the quality seems lacking. Also the fact that the rear camera protrudes from the tablet, inviting scratches.
Bloatware - This is a major issue that I remembered from Android and this tablet is no exception. It looks like you can remove most of the bloatware one way or another. Theres both acer and iconia bloatware on this.
Other than those cons, I like the tablet for what it is. I give it 4 stars for the pros listed above. Would recommend this to someone who is a light user (check email, social media, light gaming etc) or someone with children (if it breaks your out >$100 not $350+ for apple products).

My wide and I purchased this tablet for out children to use while on long trips in the car. They have enjoyed watching movies and videos on the table as well as playing games without any issues. So far we have not experienced any compatibility issues with and of the apps we have downloaded.
The screen is a comfortable size for them to hold and to watch. The clarity of the display is much better than the previous tablet that used so that's even better.
The battery life seem pretty good, but it would have been nice if there was a bigger battery even if the tablet weighted somewhat more.

I received this Acer 8" Iconia Tablet in exchange for my honest opinion so here it goes.
With having a top of the line smartphone and a laptop, for the longest time I believed that having a tablet was just going to be me wasting money on an oversized paperweight. After having this for a few days, all I can say is WHY DID I NOT GET ONE SOONER? The Acer 8" tablet with 16 GB of memory, a quad core processor, and 1GB of RAM is the perfect balance of my laptop and smartphone. Anyone who is familiar with Android products will have the same experience with this tablet as they do with their smartphone, with a few perks added.
Taking it out of the box, it has very sleek look. (Anything that I own that is white quickly gets some kind of stain, and 4 days in, its still looking like its fresh out the box, which is a win for me!!) Looking it over, there is a slot for a mini SD card to expand the memory, the usual Android charging port and a slot to plug in my headphones. Having the SD slot was already winning me over, I must say.
When I turned it on, it asked for my email so that it could load the same items that are on my smartphone to my tablet, which left one less thing for me to be worried about. It was very nice to see all my settings, apps, and displays that I was used to, now just on a bigger screen. The bigger screen is definitely better for my bigger hands and streaming TV shows and Movies is a much more enjoyable experience. WiFi and bluetooth also work flawlessly.
With the good comes the not so good as well. Some apps that I have on my smartphone, i.e., a popular search engines map program, does not work properly on the tablet. Or sometimes it will open and automatically close. I didnt look too much into this as it isnt that big of a deal and has its own maps. The other issue is with the cameras. This does have both front and rear facing cameras and pictures and videos come out better than can be expected, however, the pictures arent up to par with pictures I take on my smartphone.
3 other things that i can not leave out about this tablet: 1. On my smartphone, when I click on a link and it needs to bring up a webpage, it usually brings up a condensed (or mobile) view of that page. When I do it from the tablet, it automatically brings up the desktop version. (not a big deal to some, but for me its a +++) 2. Its lightweight and I dont have to lug around a heavy laptop and a big charging cable when I am on the go and need my computer. I simply have my tablet and a charger that looks very similar to a phone charger and Im out the door. 3. Go look at the price of it! you will want to buy one for everyone in your family!!!
My summary of this product is as follows.
1. I used it way more than I expected to and that is a very good thing.
2. Its the perfect balance between a smaller smartphone and a big laptop.
3. All of the conveniences of both the smartphone and laptop.
4. Lightweight.
5. Expandable memory
6. Front and Rear facing cameras
7-10. DID YOU SEE THE PRICE?!?! Cant get any better than that!!!
