Solid, Working exactly for what I need why not 5?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So my daughter and I are playing pokemon go. I had tried to go with the Insignia Flex 8 inch and that was a P.O.Garbage. Touch screen didn't work bla bla. Anyway I went back to BB, another store, and they had 6 Androids out. I tried all 6 (Insignia 8 inch non-flex, 10in flex, 10inch Acer, 8in acer, Fire and Digiland). However I didn't want FireOs, and Digiland.. well.. I couldn't help myself no. While in the store, I hooked each tablet to my Hotspot (phone) and logged in my account and verified I could install PokeMon Go, without any side loading. Bingo perfect. However they were out of the Insignia 8 which I would have bought, because it was 10 bucks cheaper than the 80 dollar sale price on the Acer. However, I didn't choose either 10inch because walking around or biking, I truly felt more comfortable with the 8 inch, as I could hold it and use my thumbs without feeling "stretched" like I was trying to play Piano. I am a 6 foot tall guy with, I dunno large / average hands haha. I bought it, went into the car, unwrapped it it was like 90% charged already. While sitting in the car (no I didn't drive and play) but I did setup my account etc etc. Got home, went walking, was perfect. So why not 5? Well, maybe I need to take off the protecting plastic cover on the front, but even with the brightness on high, in the daylight (I am in Florida atm), it was a bit... harder to see. Sort of like when you set the brightness on your phone to low. and you go wtf I can't see anything. Again, Maybe I should take off the cover and try it again. But at night, it was a gorgeous picture, the battery... not as good as the Nexus 7 I got my kid, but I have a portal battery that goes in the pocket and a 4 foot cable I can run to it and I never had an issue. Its not gonna die in 5 minutes, but it won't last the 8+ hours the Nexus does. GPS seems to work great and the keyboard too, and so on. There is a lot of junk installed.. that I might remove, but for now.. no issues. for 80 bucks I absolutely recommend it

Not bad for a starter tablet, NOT pocket size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being new to the Android operating system, I was a bit concerned about learning a new OS, but that quickly went away after using this tablet for a few minutes. It was easy to navigate. Everything is straight forward. The speed at which programs loaded is acceptable, but most smartphones now-a-days will out perform this tablet. One thing I really don't like is that you really do need some form of antivirus and/or malware protection. Thankfully, there are plenty of free trials out there, but eventually you'll need to pony up and buy one. Upon receiving this, I noticed a couple thing immediately. It is NOT pocket size. It may fit easily into a backpack or purse, but in no way a pocket. And if you somehow managed too, it feels flimsy, to the point where you know it would probably break. There is no auto dimming feature. The on-board speaker is weak sounding(poor quality), and doesn't get very loud. Even with headphones plugged in, the sound is still low quality. Also the camera is not the greatest, but I didn't get this for the camera.

Nice size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am an Apple fan but wanted to try this little Acer tablet and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I have owned 3 iPads and a 7" Nexus. I really like the size and feel of this 8" tablet in my hand. I prefer this over my older Nexus 7" tablet. It was quick to get up and running. Found my wifi quickly and everything functions very well. While the display isn't as crisp as my iPad, it is WAY more affordable. It connected to my Nexus via Bluetooth so I could transfer my contacts without having to manually enter them. I would recommend this tablet to anyone on a budget. It does "stutter" a bit while playing a simple match game. Surfing, Facebook and kindle all work perfectly.

Decent for my 4yo kid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my 4yo. Tablet does the job. Pros: Nice screen (size and quality), decent speed on processor, reasonable price (bought on sale for $70 - would not pay full price for this), lightweight. Two big issues are 1) speakers are on the back and don't sound that great and 2) tablet feels cheap and like it could break easily if dropped.

Great Value
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is primarily used to let my 4 year old watch movies. I've installed a 128GB MicroSD card, and the video looks amazing. I encoded the movies in H.264 and use VLC to let her watch them. While the speaker isn't great, using headphones with it is perfect. One of the only things I miss in this product is the ability to have profiles to log into, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. The way I understand it, there are apps that you can download to accomplish that purpose.

I recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had a Lenovo a5500 f tablet and it was a good tablet for 2 years. It ended up taking a good amount of water damage and would not turn on. I play clash of clans, boom beach and clash royale and am an active member in a clan/task force so I was in the market for a good android tablet that wasn't much over 100$. Having android 5.1 lollipop was a good selling point for me also. I first found this tablet on bestbuy.com while looking for a new tablet. Best buy was the first place I looked. I then read the reviews and they mostly seemed very positive. I then head to the nearest best buy and was looking in the tablet section. I soon found the budget section for tablets. I'm not going to lie after trying out the Samsung tablets the word budget didn't seem like a good thing. Especially cause most the tablet didn't even function in that section. Lucly they had this tablet on display and it was working. My first impressions were wow it feels cheap and the screen isn't great. I then thought I'll just buy it and not open it then I'll go to Walmart an check the one I kinda liked there for the same price. Lucky I decided I'll just stick with this one and skipped Walmart because when I got the tablet out of the package I realized it was well built and sturdy with that good weighty feel. I like how it looks! I then got it home did the start up and set up only to learn I could basically restore everything from my old tablet on to this one via googles backups. I was excited. I knew the games would transfer but to my surprise it even knew what tablet I previously had. The operating system is a mixture of that of my old lenovo and Samsung's tablets. Its well done. The screen looks good and is responsive once you take the factory screen protector off. Its got a good feel as well. My only disclaimer is if only owned this tablet two day(non stop) so I can't speak for its longevity.

Good value for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a technology consultant with an emphasis on Macintoshes for over twenty years, so, naturally, I gravitate towards comparison with Apple products. I have to say, this Acer tablet is a really good value. People don't necessarily want to spend, or need to spend, $300 on tablet. I've used this tablet by the side of my desktop to watch Netflix with no issues for hours. I like how the OS indicates that it is actively procuring an IP address unlike Apple's iOS which tells me nothing. The scrolling is not as fluid as an iPad. The plastic body feels a little cheap but it seems to preclude the necessity or having a bulky, weight-adding case to the tablet. It doesn't appear to be recyclable since it's not aluminum. That's not good since this is essentially a disposable tablet. I'm not a fan of the protruding rear camera lens as it seems it would be more prone to fingerprints and damage than an iPads' recessed camera lens. Images taken with tablet looked soft on the display. Apple places their speakers at the base so when you cup it with your hand, the sound is directed towards your ear. The Acer's rear speaker is poorly placed for decent sound as sound is directed away from the user's ears. I can't tell for certain, but the display seems to be made from plastic, not glass. There's no mention in the specs. Plastic will pick up fine scratches with use much quicker than glass will. The Acer comes with an abundance of apps, mostly bloatware with what appears to be some redundancy. Deleting them, like the Kids' apps, doesn't seem possible. I downloaded the user manual and followed the directions but the Kids' apps don't appear in the list. It's a clunky interface. I have no idea what "delete updates" means as opposed to just deleting an app. When using Netflix, the volume buttons are reversed. That is the left section of the rocker button reduces the volume when in landscape mode. I received this unit as part of the technology insider network.

Great budget tablet.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Acer Iconia 8 inch tablet is the perfect size for reading books, comics, or just going online. While it only has 16gb of storage it has a microsd slot that works with up to 128gb cards. I used a 64gb card and it works well. The sound is decent for a tablet but using headphones is recommended. The only downside is that it only has 1gb of ram. The Facebook app tended to crash quite a bit but the app is buggy to begin with. For a sub $100 tablet it is a great choice.

Great little tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy set up - even for someone not all that tech savvy. Clear graphics and easy to use. Would have loved to have had a stylus included with it, though.

Great little tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is great for games and streaming video. The built in kid zone app is a welcome addition, allowing my children to play age appropriate games and watch videos from their favorite TV shows. The tablet has plenty of space for apps and music and has the option for expandable storage. While it is a little slow to boot up, it is snappy and very responsive while running and it powers off almost instantly.

If You Must
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Acer 8" Iconia Tablet should only be bought if you really can’t spend a bit more. At this price point there really isn’t going to be a good choice. The screen is dull and lifeless but we shouldn’t be surprised by that. Otherwise it’s not a bad looking table. I tried to not like the white case and the white power and volume buttons but they keep the low cost theme going. I will give it credit for having a microSD slot. I put a 64GB card in it and it worked fine. It came with most of the standard Google apps and some Acer branded apps. Unfortunately if you try and run the Acer apps it wants you to create an account with them and I don’t see any easy way to uninstall them. Besides the screen quality which is the single most important part of any tablet the overall build quality is just marginal at best. I will say that if you just looked at the specifications alone from just a few years ago this would be an unbelievable buy. And if it is all you can afford just be careful with it. I didn’t get the feeling it could take much abuse.

Great Value Tablet That Runs True Android
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is perfect to use for travelling or just when sitting around surfing the web. I couldn't believe that a tablet at this price point has dual hd cameras. I like the fact that there is a slot for microsd cards which could prolong the usage of this tablet. The only room for improvement is changing the cheap plastic, but that might impact the price. This is a great option if you don't care about having one of the big brands.

Use Bluetooth Up-Front
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $80 it's hard to beat. Everyones right the speaker is no good, but the Bluetooth is fine. Acer makes good equipment: however on this one they missed the mark. I'm going to keep mine.

Good Basic Tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went looking for new tablet because my NOOK HD was having issues I could not overcome despite all my efforts. I use my tablet strictly for entertainment purposes. I like to read, web surf and watch youtube videos. I have had this tablet for less than a week, but so far so good. It does what I need it to do quickly and without a problem. My only complaint is the location of the power cord jack doesn't seem ideal. It's difficult to plug it in when it's in its protective case. Also, the power cord is pretty short. I'll probably replace it with a longer one eventually. Others have noted that the speaker on the back of the tablet in not a very good idea either. I got the tablet on sale for $69 and a case to go with it. The whole thing came to less than $100. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Very low price for a decent product.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are on a very tight budget or just want to try an Android tablet I would definitely recommend this tablet. The price is just crazy low and it does function with normal apps, but not the greatest for graphic games... The display resolution is limited and slightly fuzzy but not bad. Not recommended to use as an ereader. It is good for video streaming but due to the small amount of storage its not great for downloading a lot of apps or videos. Build quality is okay but all cheap plastic. Screen does appear to be decent glass and it comes with Android 5.1 and is very responsive in normal use. It's a decent tablet at a very low price.

Good, but limited, Tablet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used the Acer tablet for a couple of days now and it's surprisingly good value for the money although you should know it's definitely limited in it's capabilities and the Android ecosystem is fragmented. What I mean by this is that not all Android apps work on all Android devices. If you're looking for a simple tablet to browse the web and read email this could be for you but if you need to get stuff done I'd look to the Surface tablets from Microsoft or other hybrid tablets that are capable of doing work usually done on a laptop.

Surprisingly Powerful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Iconia-One 8" tablet is a powerful new comer to the world of handle held devices. The OS is stable, applications launch quick and the screen resolution is amazing. Navigating through the menus and applications is very fluid. Easily connect to wifi for internet access and enjoy streaming movies or games. The light weight design makes it very portable and the kids love it for watching movies and playing games. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a versatile tablet device.

only for browsing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had thought this would be a cool little tablet, I was mostly wrong 16GB of memory gets eaten up pretty fast with all the preinstalled bloatware. The 1 GB of RAM also goes pretty fast. I used the built in optimizer and went from 80% memory utilization to 65%, but still does not free up much. The memory is not expandable, but there is a usb port, so you can add movies on the go.
