Runs very nice and pretty cool. I tried 4 laptops and this one is by far the most quiet. I upgraded the ram to 16gb and it made a big difference in gaming. I get 60-70 frames in Red Dead 2 which is impressive to me. The 1650 runs games perfect. The 144hz screen makes this laptop perfect the brightness isn’t the highest but it’s still super nice. It’s pretty easy to open and upgrade. The cpu runs at about 70-75 degrees while playing Red Dead and I’ve never seen the gpu go past 72 degrees.

I think this a good first gaming laptop if your on a budget and I had mine for a year and had used it heavily. I love how promising it is for its price I think laptops like this expose the pc world of things and ppl get hooked to them. Safe to say my time with it is done and now have money saved for a desktop . However performance and terms of power are pretty good . I think it’s performance is relatively strong but it’s weakness does show in some games and have to switch to low settings for smooth frames. It’s a little better than the ps4/Xbox performance wise not stronger than ps5/xbox series x . It runs R6siege rlly smoothly and 144hz gives you a competitive experience , and it can play gta 5 online 60-80 fps on a preset high settings. But games more graphically demanding like red dead redemption 2 you can see a little bit of stuttering and rendering problems with textures and loading props (40-50 Fps). Bigger multiplayer games like bf5 is set to medium and runs about (40-50 fps) full 64 players The keyboard tends to wear and tear and fades away the printing of the letters so my WASD is a faded and so as my shift and alt keys. I do love this laptop and the performance is reliable.

For the low price and being an Acer you might think this laptop is not powerful enough for gaming and other heavy duty tasks. I thought the same way before purchasing this laptop but then I was surprised. I used to own an Alienware before this but in comparison this Acer laptop feels the same as the expensive Alienware laptop I owned. You there are so many options as in upgradability with this laptop which includes putting not only 1 additional SSD but 2 SSD on top of the SSD that is already included with the laptop. The price of this laptop is as perfect as it gets. I also own an Acer 4K gaming monitor so I know based on experience that Acer products last long and they price it cheaper. Acer overall is a better deal which does not empty your wallet. I recommend this laptop as so far it plays my games without a problem. Just make sure to add at least an additional 8GB of ram for faster performance since it only comes with 8GB but other than that it perfect.

I enjoy using my Acer Laptop because it’s fast, the keyboard lights up, and it’s easy to use. I’ve had a graphics issue since I opened it out of the box. It doesn’t glitch a lot but if you’re a gamer it’ll be bad news. I’m not using this laptop for gaming, just office use. The apps are smooth. The only issues that pop up are because of Microsoft updates. I like that I can turn on the built in fan for this laptop if I need to cool it down, which I’ve never had to do. I would recommend this laptop for anyone needing a better laptop than low-end types. I don’t know what the glitch is because I don’t want to deal with the hassle of Geek Squad not being able to replicate the issue and then I would be out of my laptop for a time for nothing. The light up keyboard is awesome and enables me to see the keys in the dark.

Love this laptop for gaming. Everything runs smooth and the games look wayy better than my ps4 pro. I was impaired on new years eve and spilt martinelli's apple cider all over the thing, such a good laptop it fixed itself! Its got a decent sized screen. Definitely adequate for winning in competitive gaming and surprisingly not too bulky. You can still jump on a moving frieght train without it snagging on anything. Great for the price!

My son likes it for gaming. But he would like something better as this is maybe for a beginning gamer. He was 12 when i got it for him and now he is 14. And it was cheap. I also forgot to mention that he has to play with the laptop hooked up to battery 24/7. Battery life is really bed for a laptop

Works great except when you try to alt+tab out of game a lot of time it causes the game to crash I upgraded the laptop with another 8gb ddr4 and now don’t have that issue it’s a 50-150$ part so keep that in mind I have played gta v runs super smooth and even played dying light and ran some FPS cod and ran smooth like a hot knife through butter can even handle pubg

Got this to play on the go, it doesn't beat the specs on my desktop, but it's no slouch. I can play most of my games, with no problems whatsoever. That all being said, the page was wrong saying it has a 1060, it has a 1660

I have had this computer for over a month now. Overall great performance. Downside is the quality of the speakers. They are okay. My previous laptop has clearer speakers, but I play with headphones anyway so not much of a huge problem for me. Bluetooth is finicky. One thing I don't like but more a preference is the FN buttons. On my previous laptop I could just click it to change audio volume for example but this one I have to hold down FN to do. Again great computer for gaming and would still recommend to a friend.

Acer has a widespread hinge problem
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Hinge completely Broke after a couple years along with the screen plate that attached to the hinge. But the problem started long before that when there was just a little "hitch" when opening the laptop. The warranty has since passed and from what I hear-- according to this review I have copied and pasted from reddit (photos are mine)-- I am not the only one. Now I have to source some parts to fix the problem with a otherwise perfectly usable gaming computer. This is a blaring design flaw.
Reddit review (https://www.reddit.com/r/AcerOfficial/comments/krxjn6/acer_has_a_widespread_hinge_problem_with_their/)
"TLDR at bottom
Acer evidently has garbage hinges. They can't possibly be testing these things thoroughly, and they definitely aren't putting much effort towards fixing them. Type "acer hinge problem" into google and look around for a bit.
I'm posting this because my Acer Nitro 5 just broke (Apparently it had been broken for a while). The hinges attach to the lid and are screwed into the back of the lid. Well, the place that the hinges screw into broke. The part alone is a 50 dollar part. The repair would be 300 ish. This isn't my picture, but since it's happened to tons of people this picture was easy to find.
Notice how the screws ripped the plastic out with them? The only way to fix this is to replace the entire lid. Maybe Acer support will have some help?
"I'm sorry to hear that you're running into hinge issues. I can certainly understand the frustration, however, I can assure you that a far larger portion of Acer laptops do not experience this. A lot of research and development go into the hinge design of our products to minimize any issues. Hinges have been failing on clam-shell notebooks for as long as they've been built, and that's not just related to Acer, a quick google search replacing Acer for another manufacture is sure to produce the same or similar results. Unfortunately, the hinge is the weak point in a folding process that also has to be a hollow enough to allow for wires to pass through and not wrinkle them. They take all the stress created when opening the device, but it also has to be capable of moving to allow anyone (think children) to open it." - This is pretty much the response you'll get from acer if you ask for help. Maybe the have a point about this being a common problem.
"I can assure you that a far larger portion of Acer laptops do not experience this." Well these one's do Acer Manny, these one's do.
That's why I did exactly what "Acer Manny" said. I typed "Acer hinge problem" into google. Then I typed "Apple hinge problem" "Asus hinge problem" "dell hinge problem" and "HP hinge problem". Guess what? Acer is the only one. Actually, HP had some hinge problems, back in 2008, but they at least issued a recall. The google searches for Apple, Dell, and Asus had minimal results of customers complaining about broken hinges or denied warranties. Acer's search did.
So.... it's not normal for a laptop to have busted hinges from normal use after one year? Start taking notes acer, these other companies have it all figured out.
Here's some search results for the nitro 5 in particular

this ones a fix lol:

Of course, there's no way they don't know of this right? They'd have to be blind to have not realized by now that people aren't happy. But still no recall. They've had recalls for overheating on their acer predator models though, so where's the recall for the acer nitro 5? Surely a hinge is a lot simpler concept than a cooling system?
In reality, they most definitely realized this. They are probably making bank off of repair and replacement costs too.
TLDR/final message:
To any Acer representative who may be reading this:
Please take this as far up the command chain as you can. Your consumers are not happy. This IS NOT an issue caused by a user, this is an issue caused by a manufacturing defect and a lack of testing. When things break from normal use, especially when they break the exact same way for lots of people, there is something wrong with the model. Stop denying warranties, and give us a recall.
To any redditor that made it this far:
Until a recall is issued for this, I wouldn't buy any laptops from Acer. Their hinges are flawed on multiple models and they make excuses like a 5 year old who just broke the tv. Based off of the links above they probably won't honor a warranty either. Maybe, if you care try to get the news out and maybe acer will do something about it. copy and paste everything I wrote and put it anywhere you want if you'd like.
