Customers regard the Nitro 5 gaming laptop favorably for its performance and smooth gameplay, especially appreciating its ability to run games well and the large screen size. The ease of RAM upgrades is also highlighted as a positive. However, some customers noted that the fan noise can be quite loud during operation.

Don't Buy: Poor Manufacturing & QA
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Cannot believe this laptop got through the Quality Control, if ever there was one. This has a backlit keyboard under specification (both BestBuy and manufacture's websites) and the keyboard does look like a backlit one. So I tried everything to enable the backlit (BIOS, F10 key with and w/o Fn Key, etc). Nothing worked, so I opened the back and inspected. The cable coming from the keyboard is simply snapped and stuck next to the battery (see the pic). It wasn't connected to the motherboard! How in the world this got through BOTH assembly and QA process?
Then I thought may be it is accidentally disconnected. No, the motherboard doesn't has a port that this cable can be connected. So this laptop may be Frankensteined at last moment using parts designed for other models.
If something this glaring was over looked, then what else
already wrong and could go wrong in the future?
Battery lasts about 3.5 - 4 hrs playing a youtube video on integrated graphics with balanced setting and without any other load. Pretty responsive on normal operations. But didn't play any games on it.
Returning this as soon as possible.

Bought 2 for work. 1 works great. The other had a vertical line of stuck red pixels, and had to be returned. Unfortunately, they were on sale but out of stock when I received it, and had to get a refund instead of a replacement.

My Experience with the Acer Nitro
Posted .

I decided that I would wait to write this review after owning the computer for about 2 and a half years, and I am now confident enough to say I can provide a genuine testament about the Acer nitro gaming laptop.
For those who want a quick and honest synopsis - if you can save your money some more for a better computer- do it. If you need a computer now this isn’t the worst choice you could make.
Now, for those who want an honest full experience review I shall go in order- I bought this computer ( or smth similar I just can say for certain it’s an Acer Nitro gaming computer. ) back in the early year of around 2021 April - may, I bought this computer hoping that along with a new computer to start off for college, also a nice and functional gaming computer to play between breaks.
Within the first 6 or so months my computer stopped charging and turning on one morning. This was a little annoying but nothing worrisome since I had paid the extra money for 3 years of the geek squad warranty.
Only for geek squad unable to fix the computer at all. I was out of luck, and was forced to then spend a few days fighting Acer on the phone who refused to fix my computer at first and suggest things that geek squad had already tried. Sadly it took mentioning a lawsuit for them to suddenly change their tune and let me send off my computer.
This experience was genuinely unhelpful since this was a mere 2 weeks before my school year started, and if you genuinely don’t want to experience that as well it is something I suggest just avoiding all together.
I will say however, not every experience was negativ. The Acer laptop runs most games rather fine and can run games like Monster Hunter pretty smoothly on high settings with little lagging. However expect the computer to get hot and fans extremely loud. ( you do NOT want the laptop sitting in your lap when this happens it can and will get excruciatingly hot. )
If I were to be nitpicky about one thing is the lack of the sd card reader, again I’m a student as well so often I have things on a sd card and I was pretty disappointed to see the lack of it. But again a nitpick.
The computer is rather durable for the most part, had my young niece to yank it off my desk like a month or so ago, a piece chipped off but it’s still going rather strong.
Overall returning to my synopsis, the Acer gaming laptop is definitely.. something I could see getting for like a kid wanting to start gaming. If I were able to return it? I would. If you’re another person like me saving pieces of your work check to save up for a computer and don’t really require a pc instantly then- save your money most definitely, just save up those few extra 50s to 100s a week to invest into an actual nicer and more suggested laptop.
However if you’re someone that needs a pc instantly and this ( including the warranty ) is within your price range then this isn’t the WORST computer to get ( not the best in my opinion. ) it runs solid and if you’re fine with all the issues listed above then go for it. Most of these pcs do have extra slots where you can add in space which may be cool but besides that’s it’s an okay computer that may be good for beginners, thoughs just looking to start off with a gaming computer like I was.
I would rate this between 2.5-3.5 stars, customer service was poor for me, may your experience be better than mines if you decide to buy this.

Runs most things fine. Runs very loud. The keyboard stopped working within 6 months of purchase. Some of the keys work, but most of them do not. I would look at different options.
