Positive feedback also highlights the keyboard, cooling system, and build quality, describing it as sturdy and well-constructed. However, some users note that the battery life is a drawback, and the laptop's weight may be a concern for some. Overall, the positive aspects appear to outweigh the negative for many customers.

Unfortunately the screen is a little yellowish, the white has a pastel tone. I tried to fix it anyway. The night light is off and i tried to calibrate the screen. I have an 2020 nitro 5 with the screen correctly white for comparison.

The good;
nice keyboard, easy to customize, volume, brightness func keys actually within reach of one hand.
large screen, no light bleed
the 4060 chip is plenty fast for every game.
it well built with very little case flex, decent cooling without being loud
great built in speakers for a laptop, they are LOUD
the bad, limited bios settings for a gaming laptop. i could not find a way to lock the fnc key
the touchpad works fine, but it would be nice to be able to set zones. its very large and i would like the right click area to be smaller
its heavy compared to other modern laptops, not really designed to be carried around.
over all, worth the price compared to similarly speced machines.

The Acer Predator Helios 18 is an absolute beast! I’ve been using it mainly for gaming, and it handles everything I throw at it — Cyberpunk 2077, Warzone, and more — all on ultra settings with no lag. The 18-inch display is stunning: bright, smooth, and super immersive, especially with the high refresh rate. The cooling system works incredibly well even during long sessions, and the RGB keyboard is a nice touch. It’s big and powerful, but that’s exactly what I wanted. Highly recommended for serious gamers and power users!

Spectacular Gaming Laptop

The Acer Predator Helios 18 is a spectacular gaming laptop at a gret pricepoint that also has some serious productivity capabilities too. It says its a laptop, but really, the Helios 18 due to its large 18" screen, footprint and weight is really a desktop replacement that you can move around in a single unit without having to bring your monitor and peripherals.
That really is the best part about laptops, everything you need is included from connectivity to input devices to display. And this Predator 18 on top of that has some serious horsepower under the hood with the latest Intel HX series CPU and an Nvidia RTX 4060 with 165Hz G-Sync monitor.
Some may think the RTX 4060 laptop is too weak for good gaming, but paired with a high refresh display that is at 1920x1200 with a super fast Intel 13700HX CPU ends up being perfect for high FPS without taxing the 4060 too much. I'm currently playing the latest installment of one of my favorite PC Game franchises, Diablo 4, and this laptop runs it amazingly at my set refresh rate 150Hz with everything maxed out except for textures (due to 8GB VRAM).
While TimeSpy isn't a great indicator of actual gaming performance, it does give a pretty good glimpse in terms of difference in performance for raster between the diff GPUs. You can see the 4060 is nearly 2x the performance of last-gen 3050Ti, about half as fast as the desktop 3090, and about 1/3rd as fast as the desktop 4090. Given this fits in a laptop form factor that doesn't even get loud is VERY impressive while gaming buttery smooth at 150 FPS/Hz in Diablo 4.
The build quality of the Helios 18 is amazing as well. Keys feel fantastic, LEDs are vibrant and well done but not over the top. Nice Acer splash screen and audio greet you when you power on the laptop. Keyboard has a satin-like finish so it doesn't pick up fingerprints as much as more glossy finishes. The screen is large and bright, but not as impressive as some OLED displays as it still has some backlight bleed. Its also matte finish which is better for gaming but doesn't look as pretty as the glossy glass. But man this display looks amazing in motion while gaming, super impressed with the clarity and smoothness while gaming.
The Helios 18 has everything you'd expect and then some in terms of connectivity, again solidifying its place as a desktop replacement. You've got 3 full USB-A ports to connect mice and your iPhone like I'm doing now. You've got a full ethernet port, microSD and an HDMI output, along with 2x thunderbolt ports on the back. It also supports WiFi 6E for super fast wireless speeds if you have a WiFi 6E mesh network.
While 1TB of Micron 3400 SSD and 16GB of DDR5 RAM come standard, you can add a 2nd NVMe SSD in the expansion slot and also upgrade to more DDR5 RAM, as they are easily accessible once you open the bottom of the laptop.
Only a few minor complaints I have, and I mean very minor. The power brick is HUGE and the power cables are also very thick to make sure they can handle the rated 330W. I haven't tested how much the laptop pulls under load but it never gets loud, you can hear the fan but it is still quieter than my desktop. The right shift key is also a bit annoying as it is surrounded by Enter, the Up Arrow, the Left Arrow and the Ctrl button. Its about 2x as big as a regular key but I don't love having the shift key boxed in like that. I'm sure I will get used to it however. Last thing is the hinge on the screens creak a little bit, so use caution over time opening the lid. I thought at first it was the protective plastic, but its not, so maybe open the screen with 2 hands from the side instead of lifting with a thumb from the front.
Love this laptop though and I'm not even really a laptop guy. I can definitely see myself getting my Diablo 4 fix while I'm traveling, at the beach, etc. Hook up an XBox or PS5 controller via BT and you have a great portable console too and the 18" screen is big enough to easily handle the display duties without feeling like the screen is too small or wanting to connect to a TV. Great for movies as well with the built-in Dolby sound and speakers.

Blazing Fast Gaming All-rounder

To say that gaming is what I do would be like a race car driver saying that they just like to go around the block. Gaming is in my blood, I have been gaming since I was old enough to move a mouse, furthermore I have been building gaming PCs for the majority of my life, starting in 1994 (shhh, yes I'm old).
Gaming laptops have always been an interesting breed with the attempt to strike that balance between performance and portability. Some manage to do it better than others and some don't even try, instead giving individuals the option of more of an all-encompassing desktop replacement. This device leans towards the latter, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, if you know what you're getting into.
To start, the laptop box is huge, but that's really to be expected for such a large laptop. 18" laptops are just very large, it's difficult to consider something of this size as 'portable', particularly when the power brick itself weighs something like 6 lbs all by itself. That said though, someone looking to purchase a laptop of this size is not looking for portability. They are looking for speed, for comfort in the larger screen and keyboard, and something they can potentially bring with them in rare occasions that they do decide, without sacrificing any of that performance they have come to know and love by using a laptop like this.
When removed from the box there's a separate internal box housing the laptop, which, when opened, raises the laptop to you almost like a presentation. Included in this smaller box is the laptop itself, of course, a small amount of literature, and 2 replaceable vent fan covers for aesthetic purposes. It's an interesting and unique touch, though I will say I'll likely just lose them or the originals depending on which ones I'm choosing to use.
This brings us to use. Upon bootup you're greeted with the Acer Predator icon with a bit of an 'action' style sound, and the keyboard lights up in what I would consider a very unique way, individual keys lighting and darkening across the keyboard throughout the bootup sequence. It's a very cool, very futuristic look.
Once into Windows, the setup is much like any other Windows 11 laptop, there's the general Windows setup and a small amount of Acer license acceptance. Fortunately once in Windows, the amount of bloat on the laptop is very light, just consisting of some support apps and the lighting/performance management app.
I immediately was interested in the speed of the SSD as well as that of the performance of the machine itself, and have included screenshots of ATTO Disk Bench and 3DMark. The laptop itself scores respectably, if right in the 'average' range when the power profile is set to performance. I imagine there's some things that could be done to tune it a little bit, but still, 10,383 3DMarks is nothing to scoff at and will give excellent performance across all major AAA games and I'm sure many future ones.
This leads me to the gameplay. I loaded up Diablo IV and to say it runs silky smooth is like saying cashmere is just 'soft'. The laptop really performs amazingly, the keyboard is incredibly responsive, I was able to run the game at max settings with no issues, and it's really quite a sight to behold.
So what negatives does it have? Not many, being honest. The biggest one is the all-plastic construction. I do understand that it likely saves on weight since it is such a large laptop, but it takes away from the premium feel just a little bit. For some the size might be a negative, but with the number of other gaming level laptops available at various sizes, if you chose an 18" laptop, then you should understand what you are getting in to.
All in all it's an incredible machine, capable of playing games full-throttle across the board and I heartily recommend it to anyone in the market for such a machine.

I'm not one to leave reviews, but I HAVE to for this laptop. I previously had an MSI sword 3060 laptop and wanted to upgrade to a 4060. All of the other 4060 options are well over 2k. I bought this laptop after a large amount of research. Lete tell you i am amazed by how well this laptop performs. I play WoW Classic and get over 500 fps in quite mode. Most other modern games get at least 165 fps on ULTRA settings and the temps stay in check. As for the fan noise on turbo mode it's been the quietest of all gaming laptops I've owned so far, but it's so powerful I can leave it in quite mode and play whatever without issue. The keyboard doesn't get hot after extended gaming. You can undervolt the CPU and GPU on this laptop for increased FPS and lower temps but I'll be honest, I've not had a need to even tweak anything yet.
If you were thinking about buying this laptop, let my review convince you. Nothing but good things so far from everything I've tested.

This is an amazing laptop! The screen is huge! I have never owned a laptop with such a gorgeous big screen. Granted its "only" 1080p (well, a little more, its 1920x1200, giving you a bit more screen state for a 16:10 screen ratio), the screen is gorgeous and its super fast, with a 165Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate too. I can game on it no problem when not at home and I don't miss my desktop monitor at all!
I like that Acer has taken quite a few good decisions when configuring this laptop. First, the RAM, while most manufacturers are soldering the chips on the motherboard (and sometimes only soldering one stick on single channel), Acer has configured this laptop with two removable SODIMM modules, thus on dual channel for best performance. I can easily remove them and upgrade capacity if I so chose so. Also, the included NVME drive is also NOT soldered and can be removed, and they have also provided an empty NVME slot (which I used and populated right away since I had an extra NVME, to use as a Game/storage drive), that's why I opened the laptop and saw Acer took good decisions, bravo Acer!
They are using the latest Intel Core gen mobile CPU (Raptor lake) and a Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060 mobile with 140 Watts. I love that the discrete GPU is wired to the 2.1 HDMI full size port, I can plug the laptop to my TV and enjoy 120hz with Gsync on a big screen (if your TV is modern enough to support those)!
One little con is that this laptop is heavy, but If you are buying it, you know its for its gaming prowess, just wanted to point that out. They are using some sort of new dual cooling and I can tell you, even plugged in and at full power, its quieter and cooler that many other laptops I have tried before. It doesn't sound like a jet about to take off, I mean you can hear the fans, but they are not as bad as other laptops I've heard. All that size is dedicated to a robust cooling system. And its configurable. Acer includes their Predator sense software, where you can fine tune your power levels, fan speeds etc, giving you several presets in case you want full power, balanced or daily use. Battery life is as you expect from a gaming laptop, if using it lightly (like doing some homework, some videos) it will last me about 6-7 hours, gaming that's another thing probably about 2 - 4 hours at the max. I will highly recommend to game with it plugged in anyways, that way you get the full performance.
They were nice enough to include a laptop sleeve (its a soft material). The keyboard is a full size one and RGB illuminated and nice to the touch and the touch pad is huge and responsive, cant complain there (I usually plug an external gaming mouse and keyboard so don't use them that much).
The Nvidia GPU is great and I would say is more than enough to game at max settings at 1080p or with some tweaking 1440p (on an external screen). It does support Nvidia's latest features like DLSS3 with frame generation. The CPU is powerful and is using intel latest gen Raptor lake, its 16 cores 24 threads, so plenty for work or production too.
If you are looking for a powerful gaming laptop, with a huge and fast screen, this is the one for you!!

I am quite happy with my Acer Predator Helios 18" laptop.
It's really fast when playing games, especially now with the upgrades listed below:
I added a Seagate - FireCuda 530 4TB Internal NVMe SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 to the 2nd SSD slot.
I also added 2 sticks of CORSAIR - Vengeance 16GB 4800MHz DDR5 C40 SODIMM for a total of 32GB Ram.
All of my games are stored and played on the 2nd SSD (FireCuda 4TB).
In "Quiet mode" - it's quiet as in no perceptible noise.
When gaming I use "Turbo Mode" and yes it's loud when the fans are running but the laptop itself stays cools and the exhaust vents pump out some serious heat. I can now run Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 without any lagging or stuttering so the trade-off between noise and performance is worth it.
When playing Far Cry 6 or Sniper Elite 5 with the graphics cranked up to maximum on each - wow! Buttery smooth gameplay!
I highly recommend this laptop for gaming.

My laptop was shipped to me. Great packaging, and delivered fast. Really fast laptop, when loading. My old laptop took forever to load. Really well built machine. I am not a gamer. I do however like durable, strong machines. Three years ago I built my first desktop computer. I use a Maghawk Wi-Fi motherboard because I know that gamers push their computers to the limit. Laptop have really nice speakers, and all of the ports that I may need. Great, large super clear screen. Laptop does not disappoint.

A++ Gaming Laptop from Acer

I can’t stress enough how nice a gaming laptop this is. From the screen size to the specs, down to the keyboard. Super-fast, well built, and overall, a great machine.
This machine has an 18-inch FHD display that reaches 165hz. The screen size is lovely, and it hits the sweet spot with gaming portability. For me, I prefer a larger screen for gaming since most sessions last multiple hours, and I do not want to have to strain my eyes to see what is on screen.
The keyboard itself is something else. The MINUTE, I started typing, I was in love. This is, hands down, one of the NICEST keyboards I have every used. The keys themselves have a nice, soft touch to them, and when typing, the keys flow smoothly. I am by no means a keyboard expert, but I doubt you will find many that do not like how this keyboard performs. It also has a 10-key, which for me is expected on an 18-inch. I love a 10-key, and this one performs well.
Since this is a gaming laptop, you do have a headphone jack, if needed. For the sound itself, I was pleasantly surprised. It’s rich in sound and I have no issues with the few songs and games I played. Let’s face it, being a gaming PC, most will use headphones, but its nice to have good sounding speakers as an option as well.
Performance wise, this machine has killed it. Acer should be ecstatic. I was able to run Diablo 4 running with ULTRA for most of the settings and am hitting around 106-110 fps. The game looks beautiful on this monitor. The 16bg of DDR5 RAM is enough for most games, but you can upgrade if needed, which is a nice plus! The Predatorsense software by ACER does have some nice customization options (preset profiles for gaming on and off power, lighting, monitoring, etc.) and is one of the easiest to navigate. I highly recommend its use.
Overall, this machine checks off a lot of the boxes needed for gaming laptops for me. Large screen, top of the line specs, A++ keyboard, and excellent performance. It also comes with a nice carrying case!! 😊

I love this laptop! It doesn’t feel plasticity like other gaming laptops I’ve tried. It’s fast, fantastic for gaming or doing normal day to day activities. I did have mine upgraded from 16 ram and 1TB (you get a little over a 1TB already without upgrading) to 32 ram and 2TB (1TB slot for each one). Geek Squad told me I could upgrade the storage further I think up to 4TB storage if I wanted too but I am good with what I have so far! The battery life isn’t bad at all, I can play several rounds of dead by daylight without needing to charge it. I haven’t timed how fast it drains but if I had to guess..with gaming not plugged in: 3 - 4 hrs max but it depends on your game settings and how heavy it runs. Gaming with plugged in: Perfect, there’s a difference between being plugged in and without. Games usually run better being plugged in so heads up if you need that extra boost. Btw you can turn off the charger beep and initial start up sound, I would recommend you look it up but it’s fairly easy to do.

I really love this laptop. I would’ve given it five stars but the battery life is not very good and it is very heavy. With that said, this is exactly what I needed. I do not transport it every day so plugging it in and transporting is not an issue. However, I can bring it to another location if I need to. I mostly got a laptop instead of a desktop so that when I travel I can bring it with me.

I have had this laptop for a couple weeks now. I love the high resolution screen and its size the most. Lots of ports for peripherals. Compared to my old laptop this one screams. Best gaming laptop I've ever had!
Cons: It's huge! Honkin' huge! Its battery life is somewhat short compared to wimpy skimpy computers but... that's the trade-off for all the power!
Pros: It's fast, it's powerful, and it's quiet! Other gaming laptops sound like a spaceship taking off when the fan kicks in... not this one! Also
