It's a great PC and I really do like it. Only thing is that it does run a bit hot in certain spots for the first few weeks before it starts to settle down a bit. Much smaller than my previous gaming laptop and more portable.

After returning the first laptop with a minor crack in the screen we received the laptop we have currently. It was already way slower than the first, had issues with apps opening, and now the whole keyboard doesn’t work.. (other than the power button and touch pad). Wish I understood what happened to this beautiful laptop. Not sure maybe it was refurbished? Wish I could get ahold of real people thru Acers website as my year warranty will be up in 5 months. I already used Best Buy’s warranty because of the small crack with the original shipment. I guess I’m stuck with a broken waste of $1,000+. Here’s a picture of my uncomfortable setup. I can’t even take the laptop anywhere because I need the keyboard. I’d rather deal with the small crack in the screen than this.

Right out of the box I loved the design of this laptop and the bonus zipper carrying sleeve. The configurable RGB lighting patterns/colors, vents and solid feel are impressive without being gaudy. << Pros >> 1. The performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070Ti has been impressive; requiring almost no tweaks to the default graphics settings and nearly doubling the frame rates that my old laptop with a RTX 3050Ti could barely handle. So far, I have tried: Metro Exodus Enhanced (RTX enabled) ~ 95fps, Fortnite ~ 120fps, Doom (2016) ~ 180fps, FNAF:Security Breach (no RTX option available) ~130, Quake II RTX Demo (90% resolution scaling enabled) ~ 57fps. 2.The 1TB hard drive is a good start, even with a few extra applications that Acer/Microsoft include there is still 898GB available. For additional game storage I installed a second SSD (2TB) and was pleased to see that Acer integrated a heat sink in the case (with a preinstalled thermal pad) for the second drive which is running very cool (~35C). 3. The included AcerCare application has some useful system checks and allows limiting battery charging to 80% for battery health. 4. The PredatorSense applications allows adjusting RGB lighting and setting performance modes: Quiet, Default, Extreme (overclock w/throttled fan speed), Turbo (dedicated button w/max overclock and fan speed). 5. There are a good selection of ports: 3 USB-A, 1 USB-C, HDMI, mini-display, LAN, headphone. << Things To Consider >> 1.Windows 11 seems to do a good overall with managing RAM; peak RAM utilization was around 80% while playing Metro Exodus (so having only 16GB could be an issue in the future or for some higher end games). 2. Limited portability. Weight comes with the solid feel and the AC power supply is large. Battery life has been only adequate (around 3hrs under normal use and less than 2hrs for light game play, with diminished performance). Swapping to Extreme or Turbo performance modes is only possible w/AC adapter AND >40% battery. 3. I am not really a fan of the trackpad, it supports multi-touch gestures, but is stiff (not really a deal breaker since I planned on using a mouse). 4. The speakers are clear, but lack bass and volume. This a bad combination with the cooling fan noise in both Extreme and Overclock performance modes. Head phones are in my future.

For the price and the performance it offers, it’s hard to beat this thing. You get a high wattage i7 and 3070 Ti, and a great QHD display all in one attractive build. It’s not hits all around, but where it matters (gaming performance) it comes through. It performs more than well enough to use as a replacement for my RTX 2080 desktop. Looking at the device, the build is a mix of metal and plastic. You won’t mistake this for an ultrabook, but the design is attractive and understated and I appreciate that. You could easily use this in a professional environment and most people wouldn’t bat an eye. I like the dark brushed metal look. The vents around back give sort of a sports car vibe; if it were me I would have squared them off, but they don’t look bad. Overall the build feels extremely solid and not budget at all. It is not a light machine at nearly 6 lbs. though, so if it is not going to live on your desk make sure you’ve got a good backpack for it. The 280W power supply brick is a big rectangle, though it’s relatively thin, so it shouldn’t bulk out your bag too much as long as you have room for the x and y dimensions. I did notice that it tends to collect fingerprints, so keep a microfiber cloth handy if that’s something that bugs you like it does me. For ports there are 3 USB-A, 1 USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 supporting up to 100W PD charging), a headphone jack, Ethernet, HDMI (2.1) and mini-DisplayPort (1.4). It’s a good port selection overall, though I am a little perplexed by the mini-DisplayPort; I feel like this would have been better as a full size DisplayPort or even a USB-C display output. It’s a minor quibble, but it’s one more adapter I’ll need for connecting to my monitor. Opening up the back of the laptop, I found the plastic bottom panel to be pretty easy to remove, although the first time I opened it up it did require a little extra prying. I’m happy to report neither the memory nor the storage are soldered in and can be upgraded. The 16GB of memory consists of (2) 8GB DDR5 modules, so if you are looking to upgrade to 32GB in the future you’ll have to replace them both. The memory is hiding behind a metal shield, so you will need to remove that before getting access to it. There’s also an extra PCIe Gen 4 slot for another SSD and I can confirm it operates at those speeds using my WD_Black SN770. I won’t rehash all the specs because you can read the Best Buy and Acer page for that, but I would point out that for the RTX 3070 Ti, you are getting something that can run at up to 150W (runs at 140W in default mode), which not a lot of smaller gaming laptops do. You could get another laptop with an RTX 3080, but if it’s only running at 80W you are not going to see the same level of performance. It’s definitely something to watch out for as just going off the name alone can unfortunately be misleading. Getting into actually using the computer, I was pleasantly surprised to find it doesn’t come preinstalled with an obscene amount of bloatware. There is some, but what is there is easy to remove. I was able to get up and running in under 20 minutes and begint the task of installing games. The keyboard is full size with a number pad, which I appreciate as that is my preferred method of keying in numbers and the laptop does not have a fingerprint scanner or Windows Hello, so I’m entering my PIN in a lot. The keyboard is also RGB and the key colors can be programmed individually, but I just went with static white for the whole thing - RGB isn’t really my thing. The QHD 240Hz display looks fantastic; the colors look accurate and I did not see any kind of ghosting in my time with it. I do wish the display was a 16:10 aspect ratio; there’s a big chin underneath the screen just begging for more screen to fill it out. Gaming on this is a dream. I tend to lean towards quality when it comes to my settings and most games I can run at 1440p max settings at 60+fps no problem at all. For more demanding games like Control and Cyberpunk I was able to run those at or near max settings (with ray tracing) with the help of DLSS and even when those games took minor dips below 60fps G-SYNC eliminated any stutter or lack of smoothness I may have noticed. For my gaming I had the laptop at the default power profile, which runs the GPU at 140W. Turbo and Extreme power modes will allow the full 150W of performance, but the fans get crazy loud in those modes and the performance gain of maybe 5% or so was not enough to warrant using those modes most of the time. Even in the default mode the fans can get pretty noisy, but the sound isn’t too harsh and did not break through my headset or distract from my game. In addition to running noisy it can also get pretty warm, though internally it never got hot enough to hit any thermal throttling limits and it did not feel overly warm at the keyboard deck where my hands were. Overall the system performance was really snappy. Some final things I noticed. The speakers are pretty good and the webcam is bad, though I imagine most people will have their headset connected and if you are doing any kind of streaming have already invested in a better webcam. The keyboard and trackpad are both fine; they didn’t blow me away but at the same time there is nothing wrong with them. The battery life off of the charger is also not great; I did some basic web browsing and YouTube watching and I would not seeing this making it much further past 3 hours in most cases. In reality though this is a machine that’s meant to be used plugged in to unlock its full potential. Overall I’m so happy with this laptop. As a gaming or even a higher-end media device it just hits everything it needs to. I think this system has an excellent price to performance ratio - going for specs beyond this feels a bit like diminishing returns. If you’re in the market for a higher-end gaming laptop I can absolutely recommend this.

Got this on sale for $1500 total (including/after taxes), price was $1,399.99. Which is/was an absolute steal! This laptop has been able to run anything I throw at it while maintaining at least 60fps on High/Max settings at 1080p. 1440p is a different story on High/Max settings, which is unfortunate considering the native display is 1440p. Temperatures while playing Atomic Heart maxed out at 1080p had a peak of 103°C (CPU) and 88°C (GPU) which was concerning since I had the fans at max RPM and disabled the default Turbo Mode overclock. Ultimately I just ended up purchasing a laptop cooler, which has significantly dropped cpu/gpu temps for me even with the cooler on low setting. Honestly probably also just need to repaste. The screen/display is amazing. Fans can be really loud, but havent experienced any coil whine. The fact that it has MUX Switch is great too. Overall this laptop performs super well and I do not regret buying it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good deal that cant quite afford the 4000 series Gpus.

It’s got everything you need. Turn on DLSS and you have a very crisp 1440p gaming performance. Works perfect for a college student too. Bit heavy to carry around with charger though. Loud fan at turbo speed, but you can still use the default auto fan and default power mode, since this laptop is powerful as is already. 3070ti gets 150W (with dynamic boost). It also have hybrid mode, which is like mux screen but much better, allowing you to bypass the iGPU. It’s a free frame boost so please turn it on in the NVIDIA control panel! The temp for CPU runs on a hotter sometime, peaking at 93c, so I recommend getting a cooling pad if that scares you. GPU runs at around 68, and I’ve never seen it get higher than 73 before, so it’s runs pretty cool. Battery life? I could get maybe 5 hours out of it, if I’m lucky. It’s a gaming laptop with powerful spec

I bought this laptop for work and liked the gaming aspect of it. My older Lenovo with an I5 processor couldn't keep up with all of the video work, multiple open apps, and was getting annoyingly slow. This thing is a beast, it sounds like a spaceship when you turn it on which can sometimes be startling, especially late at night or in public spaces. The only gripe I have is on how hot it gets on my lap, but I picked up a lap desk and that solved that issue. Most of the time I have this on a desk and don't notice the heat. What I do notice is that it handles anything I throw at it, can do all kinds of intensive tasks with no noticeable lag, and I can play any game I like without issues.
