Best laptop for the money, runs everything pretty smoothly. It heats a little but it's tolerable, specially when you max out the speed of the fans. Fantastic 2k resolution screen.

This laptop is so good! I tried several laptops that were on sale such as the G14 6700s, MSI Sword 3060, G15 4060, and they all had issues! Either the GPU was not good enough for 1440p or they were missing stuff like LAN port, DP port etc! This HOWEVER is AMAZING. The HELIOS 3070Ti will run almost anything at High/Ultra/Max settings at 1440p. It is a nice looking laptop too! 1399$ is an amazing deal for such device! Buy it!

Bought this PC on the strength of reviews on BestBuy and was not disappointed. I had a laptop running simulation software with a RTX3050 video card and it struggled. This PC has the Nvidia RTX3070 Ti and that made the difference for my work. Everything else works as expected, after a month no problems to report. No one should expect great battery life with a video card capable of drawing 150 watts, so three stars there to keep potential buyers from being surprised.

    Helios 300 - Performs Like a Beast!

Over the past few weeks, I have tested and used several gaming laptops amongst different price points while trying to find the right one for me. This included the Strix G15 Advtantage, Legion 5 Pro/Legion 7i, Alienware X15/X17, and others. While I'm generally a fan of Alienware laptops, this Helios 300 might be my favorite of them all for a few reasons: First of all, I love the overall design of the laptop. I had an older model from a few years ago, and Acer has come a long way here. The lid looks nice and clean with the two tone finish and logo, and it has a nice very dark blue color. It still has that gamer look to an extent, but I appreciate the personality here. The Legion 5 Pro simply looked like any other business-style laptop. The screen is fantastic. It's QHD, so things look sharp at 15 inches. 240 Hz is perfect for me, as I play a lot of competitive games like League of Legends and MW2. Colors look vibrant and the brightness is decent, just over 300 nits I believe. The keyboard and touchpad work well and I appreciate the addition of a number pad. The keys feel fine to type on, but not a ton of travel. The touchpad feels a bit loose when pressing at the bottom, but that's a minor annoyance. Probably the most impressive part of this laptop in comparison to the competition is the pure gaming performance. The 3070 Ti here and in many gaming laptops is capable of boosting up to 150W. However, one of the things I noticed in a number of other laptops (such as the X15 R2) was that the GPU wasn't getting anywhere near that. On the Helios, I was consistently getting right up against that 150W threshold, and I was blown away with the performance. Also, the cooling system here is really good, utilizing liquid metal on both the CPU and GPU. I was seeing the GPU stay chilly in the low 70s, with the i7 not usually getting hotter than 85 C, which is excellent in my opinion for a 12th gen Intel laptop. Overall, one of the best performing laptop I've tested, even in comparison to those utilizing a 6800M or 3080. Finally, the PredatorSense software is really nice to use actually. It's pretty straightforward to use with the different performance modes, and the RGB control is easy to use. The Turbo button on the deck is convenient to quickly squeeze a bit more wattage out of the components at the expense of noise. Overall, I think the Helios 300 is a wonderful package, especially when on sale. The 3070 Ti performed well above my expectations, even when compared to other 3070 Ti or higher laptops. The thermals are good, build quality is solid, and the keyboard is nice to use. I can easily recommend this to anyone as a competitively priced 15 inch gaming laptop.

I usually don't rate items with five stars, as there's always room for improvement, but... for the sale price, for this laptop, there really isn't anything, that I can complain about. If you've watched any reviews, regarding the 2021, and this 2022 version, you'll find that Acer addressed most, if not all of the issues, that this laptop used to have. It's a fantastic deal, for the $1299 Sale price.

This laptop is great for playing mid range games and video editing. The processor and graphics card are powerful but does heat up quite a bit, although it does a great job at cooling down with 2 internal fans. The fans can get noticeably loud at max speed. The display looks amazing with a QHD resolution and 240hz refresh rate.

Solid gaming laptop. Durable, able to handle a lot ( can play Baldurs Gate 3 without issue), and very compact. Also the laptop options provided with it also are useful ( like controlling settings and ram usage) and fun ( like keyboard color and pattern options). I highly recommend if you are looking for a laptop you don’t have to worry about being able to run any game you want and need to be strong to handle traveling.

Best price to performance ratio by far. Sure a 3080ti would be better, and the VRAM would be nice, but it will cost you 30% more. Also the fan system is incredible. Reviews don’t do it justice. I had mine set to auto, I guess they only really like kicking up to 1/4 speed on auto unless your temps get too high and dangerous. Mine were like 87 for cpu and 80-85 for GPU the one time before I went into the Predator Sense (has its own key) program and put the fans up to half of full speed. On 1440/60 max settings my temps dropped to 60 cpu and 58 GPU. On half fan speed… if anything is going to stop this laptop, it will be a lack of VRAM. And even then, 8GB isn’t bad at all unless you’re playing a brand new game with a terrible launch because the game is unoptimized garbage (Star Wars Jedi Survivor and many other recent releases spring to mind). The laptop feels good, trackpad is super soft and smooth, keys feel nice and not too loud but still have a satisfying click. Also the screen is phenomenal. I bought a QLED in 2018 Samsung Q70 and I have to say my laptop screen looks better. Really just wish it had a bigger screen. About my only issue besides that I also wanted a 3080ti. But not many good priced machines around with those specs. None near the $1300 this costs during the sale at least.

This laptop has great thermals and good performance. I returned it a few days after purchasing because it heavily throttles the CPU under load to maintain an 80*c temperature, at least it seemed to. It also ignored all input from MSI Afterburner and, as with all 12th gen CPUs, any undervolting and overclocking is locked out. If you want something that is good out of the box and don't care about tuning this is a great machine.

This laptop is very fast and worked with all games that I loaded on it with the Xbox Game Pass. All the games looked great on it. The screen is wonderful, but the colors, even after some calibration, were a little washed out looking. Keep in mind my eyes are spoiled by OLED TVs, phones, and tablets at this point. As a person that has not owned many gaming laptops, there are a few things to be aware of. First, this laptop with its charger is heavy in comparison with other laptops I've had. While it's a 15.6" laptop, it's bulky and does not fit in a typical 15.6" laptop sleeve. It just needs a little more room due to the hardware, which is understandable, just didn't expect that myself. It was a wonderful laptop and did everything I needed, but ultimately it wasn't something I wanted to haul around daily in my backpack. Also, while using this laptop for multiple different tasks as well as some light gaming, the fans are loud at times, and the keyboard gets very warm, like causing my hands to sweat while typing. The battery does not last very long at all, meaning 2-6 hours depending on what you're doing. There are features where you can adjust things to where you can get better battery life, but then you have to remember to switch it all back when changing from gaming to productivity tasks. Ultimately, this did not work for my use, but I could see the value others might be able to find using this laptop to fit their needs. It's a great laptop.
