This is definitely one of the prettiest monitors I have used personally. YouTube videos recorded in 2k look flawless. There are a few nature videos (I believe originally recorded in 4k that can be downscaled) that looked amazing. Level of detail for videos is superb. Playing FPS is also amazing! CS:GO and BF1 have a whole new life on this monitor. I rated this high, 5/5 for its intended purpose, which is advertised as a gaming monitor. I purchased it because it was a great sale price, and it wasn't much more than my AOC 27" 2k @ 60hz monitor. Text is beautiful, colors are great. Surfing the web, paying bills ... normal use is great. The ability to adjust the monitor is outstanding! Typically, you have to adjust screws or tighten something. But it is almost like a free motion stand: you physically move it to where you want, and it stays rock steady. Extremely well-designed stand! It does have a bit of bleeding when you're on a black screen. I'm huge on movies, and I love my plasma TV black levels. On that note, I don't plan on using this monitor to watch all my movies. But for those of you that this is the only monitor in the room/dorm, then it is something to consider. For photo editing reasons, the center of the screen is well-controlled. The edges is where it bleeds more, so it doesn't affect me much. With that being said, my only gripe was for editing. PhotoShop Lightroom and CC are my main concern. I came from a MacBook 13" retina display. So my PPI is in the 200's. Most people don't care for this because for video, you wouldn't be staring from a foot - foot and a half from the monitor. For editing purposes, it lacks that pixel density. An image that I know that looks razor-sharp on my MacBook looks laughably pixelated on this monitor. As a photographer, I look for smaller details like this. It also is important so I don't over-sharpen the photo. Because the display looks "less sharp" (again, relative to the retina display), I will naturally compensate by increasing that sharpness, when in reality, I didn't have to at all. The pixel density is about 108 PPI, which is just less than half of the retina display. Again, I wanted to be fair and rate this monitor for its intended use. I only wanted to give people a heads up looking for a good editing monitor because the price was so enticing. Gaming/Video streaming is an absolute joy. Photo editing, quite the opposite.

    Exactly What I Wanted

I have been shopping around for a new monitor for a while now. What I wanted was 1440p, 144hz, IPS, and either FreeSync or G-Sync technology but at a reasonable price. I happened to purchase a XB270HU refurbished on eBay at first, but I had to return it due to a few dead pixels that were on the monitor. If it weren't for those dead pixels, It was the perfect monitor paired with my GTX 1070.The picture quality, along with colors, coupled with the g-sync was glorious and game changing. So having tasted the epic difference VS 1080p and 144hz, and having to return it, I continued my search once more shopping around but could not find any g-sync capable monitor for the same price. That is when i realized maybe i should buy a FreeSync monitor instead and turned to purchasing the FreeSync version of the G-sync monitor that I had previously had. With all else basically being the same (1440p, IPS, 144hz), I took the leap and purchased this bad boy knowing that I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the FreeSync. The differences between the XF270HUA vs the XB270HU are that the bezels are much slimmer on this model and there are more connectivity ports such as 2 HDMI ports along with the DisplayPort, meaning I can even hook up my console to this monitor unlike the XB270HU which only had a DisplayPort. Ultimately, I am missing out on G-sync because I have an Nvidia card, but I do plan on utilizing the FreeSync on this monitor as soon as AMD releases their new Vega cards. At which point, I will most likely sell my GTX 1070 and pick up those radeon cards to get the best out of 1440p, 144hz, IPS, and FreeSync. But for now, the 1070 is killing it at 1440p and 144hz, and this monitor looks absolutely amazing even without the adaptive sync feature enabled at the moment. If you are looking for a monitor with the same capabilites that I listed, BUY THIS MONITOR (Note: BEWARE OF BACKLIGHT BLEEDING ON IPS PANELS, THESE ARE COMMON. I can live with mine as it isn't too bad but you may come across one with horrible backlight bleed.)

My 10 year old HP desktop died and I replaced it with one of the few offerings with Windows 7 -- HP ProDesk with Intel i7. I also bought a Sony upscaling BluRay to run independent of the computer. Everything works great right out of the box. I turned the brightness down for everyday computing and use another preset for movies, video, etc. The screen is very steady at the default 60hz and doesn't need tweaking to 144Hz for my uses. Good thing, because the browser crashed at 144Hz when I tried it. Maybe gamers need it, but I don't see a difference. I was advised to get a better graphics card if I wanted that max refresh. The Sony BluRay detects what to provide and the images are extremely detailed and dynamic. 27" is huge compared to 23", BTW...

I bought this monitor refurbished, and let me tell you it was money well spent. I mostly use this monitor for school work such as coding and projects, but the gaming aspect is great. I have only been able to see it's 120hz capability due to only being able to use an Xbox One S for gaming, but with a new PC build coming soon, I can't wait to see how much better this monitor can be. Barely noticed the 4ms response time and overall a great purchase.
