These are just a few of the things I didn't enjoy during my 3 week install process. I'll try to keep this short while still giving enough details so you can make an informed decision on your own. I had one of their specialists come and do an in-home consultation to make sure I was ordering the right equipment for my home theater. One of the things he confirmed was that there was a smurf tube running from where the receiver was to the roof where the projector should be mounted (The home is fairly new and the room was built for this purpose). What this meant was that I didn't need to purchase the wireless model because they could easily run the HDMI cable through the tube. Flash forward 3 weeks. I have all the equipment from the list he told me to purchase and am ready for the installers. The guys arrive on time and get to work. The first issue we run into is the installer can't find the stud in the ceiling. He ends up drilling a dozen holes before finding it. None of the holes are where the mount will eventually go. They throw some plaster on about 8 of the holes and leave the rest open. I will now have to paint my ceiling because there are white patches on my green ceiling. OK, stud found, mount attached. Now, where's that smurf tube? The install team is unable to find the tube. They call in a second team who is also unable to find the tube. I am now presented with three options: 1. Run HDMI cable which will involve multiple holes needing to be cut into my wall and ceiling. 2. Purchase the wireless model for an additional $300 (none are in stock so they would have to leave and come back in a week or so. 3. Purchase a 3rd party wireless kit for $300 which they could get right away. I chose number 3. They installed the wireless unit and everything seemed ok. Until it started dropping the signal every 5 minutes. Called them up and was told that I needed to purchase the wireless model then arrange for a new install after it arrived. I should note here that I waited until the projectors were on sale before buying and the sale was now over. I told the Magnolia guy that there was no way I would pay full price since I purchased what their expert told me to purchase and wanted the sale price. After speaking with the manager they gave me the sale price. Flash forward a few days to when the new wireless model is installed by a new team and immediately drops the signal. Turns out that the wireless technology isn't perfected and this issue isn't uncommon. We are now back to running HDMI cable. There is one guy on the team who is a pro at running cable and will do minimum damage. Great, I make an appointment for him to come out. Flash forward a week and the pro-wiring guy arrives. I recount everything and he goes to work. He finds the smurf tube in about 5 minutes. They are easily able to run the HDMI cable directly to the unit. The whole process takes about 1 hour. Weeks of frustration, multiple trips to Best Buy, arguments over pricing and to top it off I have to repaint my ceiling (remember that part?).

took them over 4 hours to set up and did not know how to program. still was not working. Called Best buys and said that we need to call who they sent. Best buy would not take care of it. I ended up contacting a professional to program the projector and receiver. cost me more money but worth it. to bad Best buy does not stand behind their geek squad.

Probably should start sending persons with more training on projector setups. This setup went smoothly regarding the items they did. What they did NOT do however is more telling. For instance, I initially had an issue with the projector not connecting to the Samsung App download server. This issue could have and probably WOULD have been solved if a better trained installer had been present to troubleshoot. It took me about a week to find and correct the issue after having been told by both Best Buy AND Samsung that I needed to ship the unit to Samsung for repair. Turned out the projector was 100% operational and the connectivity issue was being caused by settings in my VPN router. Bottom line, Best Buy Geek Squad employees should probably be more "Geekier" than those that "installed" my projector. All in all though, Best Buy's Total Tech membership is still worth the annual cost. I'll be signing up for another year when the time comes.

The plan got started by Travis. He made a couple of calls and got the plan started working quickly and smoothly. It started with Roger getting the electric part of it done. Then came the geek guys to run wire, install the speakers, hung the screen and then hooked everything up. I’m convinced that the system sounds so much better then it did when it was first installed back in Indiana. Sounds “fantastic”!! Thank you so much!!!!!

If I could give this 0 stars I would. For years the Geek Squad had done a good job, but in the recent year it has been horrible. First you can't really get service over the phone, you have to go to the store to get anything done. So to get a projector that they originally delivered and installed I have to order the projector on line, then to get an appointment to have it installed I have to go to the store and speak with a manager, they do make the appointment, but have the wrong address even when I told them the correct one. I get multiple text messages that they will be there on the scheduled day and that the night before they will send me a time. When I have not time the morning of, I have to call and go through the ridiculous phone tree only to be told they have to reschedule, you think they might have been able to let me know before I called to find out what was going on, but no. I am assuming that I will now again have to go to the store to get an appointment and again wait another month for them to probably not show up again. Don't waste you money on Geek Squad as Best Buy has thinned it down so much they are not able to do a good job any longer

They did a good job. It’s very pricey. If we weren’t dealing with recovering from medical issues we could have and would have done it ourselves. Since we were replacing one. It was pretty straightforward
