Great Style, But Not the Last Word on Comfort

THE GOOD: STYLE: I am a BIG fan of the style of these headphones. They are a mix of dark-gray/black fabric, with a sturdy black plastic that helps them feel very light-weight and far more premium than your average pair of wireless headphones. There is a white Adidas logo on the inside that accents the black head strap, and each earcup is labeled for convenience. Unlike many wireless Bluetooth headphones which have a glossy plastic design, these feel right at home with other high-end athletic styles. Overall, while the style might not be to everyone’s tastes, these fit right in with what one would expect of the Adidas brand, which I consider a great compliment. FIT: They conformed nicely to my larger-sized head, with earcups that rotated to the size of my ears, and a just-right level of tightness that always kept them on my head without feeling like my skull was being crushed. Despite my best attempts, the headphones never shifted as I lifted weights, did calisthenics, and biked; they really do what they are supposed to as a pair of headphones designed for all manner of exercise. No complaints in terms of keeping these on my head. EASE OF USE: These headphones are generally very easy to get set-up and get running. There is a companion mobile app which walks you through the set-up process, and allows you to tune things like audio equalization, as well as a customizable action button on the left earcup that can be mapped to three different presets, such as a voice assistant, music app, and more. There are also a number of preset sound profiles such as “Rock”, “Pop”, “Electronic”, etc. for those who don’t wish to spend much time create a custom equalization profile. In general, I found the default “Adidas” equalizer to be good for most of my music needs, which provided a more neutral sound signature that never overpowered the music. The right-earcup contains a control knob which acts as the power button, Bluetooth pairing button, volume dial, and music controller, and together is very easy to use to control the core functionalities of the headphones without needing to regularly open the mobile app. The headphones charge fully within just a couple of hours via USB-C, and have a battery rated at up to 40 hours. I am not sure if this claim is true, but since getting them, I have only needed to charge them once, so I have no reason to doubt these claims. No complaints from me on the battery life. CLEANING: Since these headphones are designed to be used primarily for exercise, it is important that they don’t suffer excessive wear and tear or sweat absorption. Thankfully, Adidas’ claims about their sweat-resistant fabric hold-up, as these headphones do a very good job of repelling sweat, rather than absorbing it into the earpads like many other headphones I have owned. Additionally, the fabric portion of the cups can be removed, making for easier cleaning after a heavy gym session. As a minor nit-pick, the headphones themselves don’t come with detailed instructions, and so it took me longer than I would like to admit figuring out how to get the earcups off and then reattached. The cups themselves rotate about 90 degrees and pull off gently. However, when reattaching them, you need to ensure that the fabric is stretched back over the cup so that you can properly align the pins. Additionally, you’ll need to make sure the USB-C charging port is properly aligned when you rotate the cup back into place on the right ear. Overall, once you get used to it, it isn’t bad; but be aware it can take more than a few minutes to figure out the first time if you don’t know what you are doing. THE SO-SO: SOUND QUALITY: I would consider the overall sound quality on these as good, but a bit lacking as well. For reference, I have a pair of Bose QC15s, a pair of Phillips SHP 9500s, and a pair of Sennheiser Jubilee 58xs, all of which are wired over-the-ear headphones certainly not designed to be used with the kind of versatility the Adidas RPT-01’s are capable of. However, objectively speaking, I don’t think the Adidas’ sound quite as good as what I was hoping for their price point and amazing style. The sound signature is generally neutral, with a present if slightly soft-bass across a variety of music genres. Detail is good, but they can sound a bit sibilant at higher-volumes, which caused fatigue for me after a longer listening session. On the other-hand, while not directly noise cancelling, these do an excellent job of shutting out outside noises. I had a very easy time shutting-out the world when working out, and never had to worry about sound leakage, even when someone was standing right next to me. Overall, I would consider the sound quality on these to be good, if a bit lacking. There isn’t a whole lot to complain about, but just not as much to distinguish them either. However, for the versatility they provide as a pair of wireless workout headphones, they more than meet the standards set for them. THE BAD: COMFORT: This is the one area of these headphones where I feel they simply missed the mark. A lot of this could be down to head and ear shape, however, I personally found these to be quite uncomfortable after leaving them on for a few hours at a time. The water-resistant fabric tends to itch, and I found myself regularly adjusting them when the fabric got uncomfortable against my ears. Normally I don’t think these would be too bad, however, since these are tighter on the head than normal headphones by design, the discomfort caused by the fabric becomes exaggerated over time. Additionally, while I don’t normally sweat easily, I found that the fabric on these tended to heat-up my ears quicker than most headphones, making sweat build-up around the cups faster than normal. Again, part of this is likely due to the pressure/fabric combination, but even so, these were simply uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. Other’s mileage may vary, but overall, I think the comfort on these should be a point of focus for improving if a new generation of these headphones are ever released. NOTE: If you wear glasses, you will likely want to take them off when wearing these. This isn’t a knock against these headphones necessarily, since these aren’t really meant to be worn with glasses due to the pressure they put on your head, but it is worth mentioning that these are very uncomfortable when wearing glasses. I tried using these when working at my computer, and I simply found them too uncomfortable to be worn with my glasses on. If you need to workout with glasses, I would highly suggest buying a pair of earbuds instead. Again, this isn’t a knock on these headphones, since any pair of workout headphones are likely to be just as uncomfortable with glasses due to the pressure necessitated to keep them on your head, but it is worth mentioning for those who need to wear glasses.

    Rugged Chic

The Adidas RPT-01 is a light weight, rugged, stylish and surprisingly comfortable on the ear Bluetooth 5.0 wireless headset. Not to be outdone by the competition, presentation (right out the box) is a big deal; if you showed the meticulously wrapped product to anyone, they wouldn't be able to correctly guess what it was! It has removable (washable) knitted ear cushions on each earpiece and an inner headband. It’s touted as water and sweat resistant (IPX4) rating. I have run with them and they stayed on with no issues. Bass is deep and rich. Mid and treble tones are crisp and clear. The connectivity range, to be expected, is far. In a 3-level townhouse, it retains a solid connection while I’m on the ground floor and my phone is on the highest level. My favorite feature will have to be the multi directional control jog. Being advertised for people on the move, its simplicity of use will leave a lasting impression on anyone: • Upward nudge – volume increase • Downward nudge – volume decrease • Forward nudge – track advance • Backward nudge – previous track Pressing directly: • 2 short seconds turns the device on or off • 4 seconds enables pairing mode There’s also a color changing led for visual confirmation in addition to the various audible tones that can be heard while wearing the headset that serve as confirmation of selected action. • Pairing mode - blue • Charging - light green • Fully charged - dark green • Shutting off – red Action button can: • Play Spotify playlist • Enable default voice assistant • Is customizable and can perform a total of three actions (1 tap, 2 taps and 3 taps) There’s an app (Adidas Headphones) from either Google Play or the Apple App Store that adds an equalizer with (Adidas, Custom, Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Vocal Boost) profiles. The interface is clean and displays the battery level, equalizer and current assignment of action button. It also displays volume level when the volume is changed. It comes with a USB C cable and port (on headset) for fast charging. Have yet to complete the endurance test to ascertain the claimed 40 hours but so far the battery has been phenomenal. At about 85% volume level, it only went through 2% of juice with over 2 hours of continuous streaming from my phone. The low energy profiles associated with Bluetooth 5 and a supposedly huge battery(ies) are to be thanked for. All in all, this headset appears well built and comes out the box with more than enough goodies and functionality for several hours of enjoyable use. Highly recommend!

    My New Favorite Gym Accessory!

I go the gym about 3-4 days a week to stay in shape for my job. The gym is a love hate relationship for me so anything I can do to make it more enjoyable the better and nothing is better than music! I own “in-ear” and “over the ear” high end earphones and use in-ear at the gym and over the ear at home for chilling out on the computer but I had never considered an “on the ear” headphone that would do both until I saw these Adidas! Note: when I say high end I am talking about $200 - $300 headphones. I was super excited to get my hands on them and give the “on ear” a run through at the gym. My main concern was that they would not stay on and fall off while I exercised but that did not happen. They are super comfortable. The only time I had to readjust was doing inclined sit-ups. They stayed on fine but I felt them slide just a bit when I hit the complete inclination of the sit up. They were fine with push-ups. Minor complaint though as my work out consists of about 30 minutes of weights with some setups and push ups thrown in for the abs and chest. Then I run 3 miles for about another 30 minutes and these headphones let me get lost in the music rather than the burn of my workout! Another thing I noticed was that my in-the ear headphones after a long work out would sometimes hurt from being in my ear so long. I pushed a work out with the Adidas and on the ear were more comfortable! Now if I was playing basketball I would have to go with the in-ear but for day to day I will being sticking with the Adidas for sure! They are really cool looking and distinct like Adidas is known for. My wife called them, "sexy". They are super sturdy but light. The whole construction is detailed to a person at the gym and I am going to really love the removable ear muffs to wash them. The whole ear pieces rotate counter clockwise to remove and clock wise to put back on and you’ll hear a little click when they are put back on. You need to fold back the knitting rim around the removable speaker or you’ll think they are not coming off (see picture) . Be sure not to pull too hard on the knitting fabric, it folds back but does not come off the speaker its glued on. I thought at first that the knitting fabric was what came off it’s not it is part of the speaker. The speaker is what comes off not the fabric on the speaker. Anyway, They fit me snug and are really comfortable! I was impressed with how much outside noise they block which lets the music really pop! Now on to the sound! I wondered what Adidas knew about sound…style and fitness for sure, but sound? A quick internet search answered the question ZOUND! These are the people behind Urbanears and Marshall! They really know how to make a speaker! I listened to some of my favorite songs from different genres on the high end “over the ear”, “In the ear “and these Adidas are in that class for sure. The sound is so good that I found myself grabbing these Adidas instead of the over the ear phones for chilling at my house on the computer! The Adidas come with a handy app (see picture) that allow you to customize the sound profile with a simple swipe or truly customize mhz by mhz for your preference. That’s really cool! It also lets you customize a selection button to summons “Siri” or whatever your phone native assistant is. Trying to reach Siri to skip a song did not work very well and was glitchy. That could be “Siri” or just the time it took the headphone to talk to the phone. Frankly, I don’t care, even on my in-ear high end headphones that are designed to work with “Siri” it’s slow and glitchy! The Adidas has a square button that lets me easily and quickly move on to the next song or often I just swipe on my watch for the next song. It also lets you volume up and down quickly. I actually preferred the response and ease of the button on the Adidas to sitting there begging “Siris” slow witted capabilities to do it on all my other headphones! The app also gives you the battery status of the headphones. Also battery life is Awesome! I really love these headphones and plan to wear them out! I’m glad Adidas decided to get into this market and they picked an awesome partner to do it with. Stay fit, look great and enjoy the burn! I highly recommend these phones!

    Great Workout Headphones

I have to say that I am very happy with these headphones. I am not a fan of earbuds since they do not stay in my ears at all and finding a pair of on-ear headphones specifically for working out is a guessing game of what you'll get. Enter the Adidas RPT-01 On-Ear Headphones. COMFORT: First off, these are extremely comfortable. The ear cups and headband are a really nice knit mesh similarly found on their knit running shoes. The headband also has a removable rubber inner headband that does a really nice job of keeping these firmly in place. They do have a nice weight to them, but are by no means too heavy. I typically do weight training but I do mix in a fair share of cardio and not once did I think that these would fall off nor did I find myself needing to constantly adjust them. DURABILITY: They have the feeling of being very well made without the use of any cheap materials. The headband itself is not adjustable and this helps the headband be extremely flexible without fear of breaking parts. For sizing, the ear cups themselves slide up and down and stay in place very well. The buttons are solid and I never once have felt as thought they would break or fall off. I even gave these to my 3 and 4 year old's to mess around with and they remained completely intact! SOUND: Simply put, these sound great! I wasn't expecting the sound quality to be audiophile level, but these are very well balanced and have a nice range with a full sound. Bass is not overpowering, but is present. The mid levels are where you want them to be and the highs are clear without being too tinny. I have listened to various music genres such as rock, classic rock, rap, and EDM. They all sound very nice on these headphones. These are not noise cancelling headphones, but I find that they do a pretty good job of keeping noise out so you can get in the zone and workout to your music. FUNCTIONALITY: My one slight frustration with these was lack of instructions that come with these headphones. The connection instructions were almost a little too basic. They simply say to hold in the on/off button to start the sync process. You actually need to hold it to turn them on, then hold again to start the Bluetooth Sync process. Once they are synced, however, they will connect automatically when you turn them on. These utilize Bluetooth 5.0. There are also no instructions on how to remove the ear cups for cleaning. To do this, you need to turn the ear cups counter clockwise to remove and clockwise to put back on. The knit headband does not come off, but you can take off the rubber liner to bunch the headband up and rinse it out carefully making sure not to get water in the drivers. The on/off button also easily controls the volume (push up or down), previous/next track selections (push left or right), and phone calls/play/stop (press in). Adidas claims 40+ hours of playtime. I have charged these once and used them for 5 workouts (appx. 5 hours) and they have sat without charge for a week now. So far so good! When they do need a charge, they should charge up quickly utilizing the USB C Charger (these do not come with an adapter, just the cable). I do also recommend downloading the App as you can use this to assign the action button and adjust equalizer settings. OVERALL: These are a great headphone for both workouts and everyday use. They are listed at a reasonable price point and offer some great features to meet demands of a sport headphone.

These Adidas are by the same company that makes the Marshall headphones, Zound Industries. These RPT-01 headphones are a altered version of the Marshall Major on-ear headphones, which are clamping little monsters. Overall sound quality is decent with the RPT-01, but that's about where the good ends. They can be a little bright at times and the bass is actually fairly accurate and composed with most music. Positives: + Uses USB-C for charging/connecting + IPX4 water resistant, so sweating on these shouldn't be a problem + App allows for audio and action button customization + Bluetooth 5.0 + Strong battery life Negatives: - Vice like clamping force - Headband extension is limited, so not recommended for larger heads - Material on ear cups is scratchy and not comfortable - Ear cups have minimal cushioning - Headband has no padding and a rubber strap across bottom - Wires going from ear cups to headband are exposed - Multi-jog nub (button) can be finicky - These don't fold up or lay flat - No carrying case of any sort included - No 3.5mm jack for wired use Touching on the clamping force with these, it can be brutal. My head is slightly bigger than average and these clamp my ears so tight that they begin to ache after about 15 minutes. I also have the headband extended to maximum and they barely fit. If I wear a sock hat they are too small. Anybody with an truly large head will have problems with these small sized headphones. No padding at all on the headband also adds to these getting an a big thumbs down for comfort and fit, which is as important or maybe even more important than sound quality. Big head folks had better steer clear.

Hello, thanks for your comments and feedback. You are correct, adidas Headphones are produced by Zound Industries. Zound Industries works very closely with adidas to produce headphones that reflect their brand, quality and vision. Rather than copies of Major headphones, the RPT-01 are designed with their own unique materials, sound cards, drivers and style that set them apart as a dependable sport headphone perfect to use while working out. In regards to the tight fit: you can try stretching the headband outwards so that the clamping pressure may release a bit, make sure to do so with your hands on the headband and not on the earpieces. If you run into any issues, reach out to [email protected] for assistance. AdidasHeadphones

    Nice headphones

These headphones are nice. I will not say they're the best I've ever used, but they're good for the price. They have a breathable fabric that can be removed to wash, which is pretty cool for those who plan to sweat while wearing them. However, I wont be using these, as they are a tad tight on my head. That normally wouldn't be an issue, but I wear glasses and within minutes my head was hurting from my glasses being dug into my skull, not cool. If you don't wear glasses that wouldn't be a problem obviously, for me, its an issue. They have a great adjustable size range, enough to fit myself as well as my 8 year old daughter, who is now the proud owner of these headphones! I will also mention that there was pretty much NO INSTRUCTIONS at all. The manual was a joke. I also was unable to locate the headphones on Bluetooth, on any of my 3 apple devices, UNTIL I downloaded the app. That bothered me. I don't usually download apps as I'm paranoid about privacy and whatnot. Once the app was downloaded and the headphones connected to it, then the headphones became discoverable under Bluetooth. Eye roll. The sound was pretty solid from what I heard in the few minutes I was able to keep them on. Bass sounded decent, words were crisp and clear. Connectivity hasn't been an issue since installing the app. The battery has yet to get low, but my daughter only uses them for a few hours and then plugs them in to charge when she's done, so I cant really comment on the longevity. These are nice quality headphones, from what I can tell so far. Well made and comfortable.

    Great headphones - poor documentation

I selected these headphones to use while working out. The idea of high-quality, comfortable headphones that can be cleaned of sweat is a winner, in my book. I ultimately decided on Adida's over-the-ear model instead of their earbuds because honestly, I've tried a good number of earbuds and they just don't like to stay in my ears, especially when I'm in motion. I was a little concerned about whether these would be tight enough to stay on my head, but that wasn't an issue. They stayed comfortably snug on my head through my entire workout without any problems. Build quality is solid but fairly flexible and I don't see these being damaged from any accidental falls from any reasonable height. As for the audio quality, I listen to a variety of high-energy music during my workouts, from Luniz to All Shall Perish, and everything sounded fantastic. Low bass and djent chords come through chunky and deep without any additional distortion, and it handles everything in the high range admirably, without being tinny. There's an app you can download that will provide you with a customized equalizer. Immediately on paring the headphones with my iPhone, I got a notification that an app was available for it, but when I tapped to go to it, I was told that the requested app wasn't available in my region. I went to the app store and searched, and found the right one for my region and it installed without issue. You can select from a number of pre-set options, or adjust the equalizer manually to whatever you'd like. I do wish the included documentation had been... well, existent. There were two good size "manuals" (and I hesitate to call them that) in the box. One was a warranty information sheet (in just about every language ever spoken by mankind) and the other a "quick start guide" (also in every language) which was literally a step by step that basically read "Plug the headphones in to charge them. To use them, turn them on and pair them with your phone." and while part of me appreciates the fact that Adidas assumes I'm not an idiot and that I know how to do those things, I would have appreciated some other information, such as how to remove the headphone pads for cleaning (it's not at all obvious) and how the headphones should be cleaned. I did find detailed instructions on removing the headphone pads (along with repeated warnings not to submerge the electronics) on their support website after a bit of hunting, but for the actual cleaning method, it refers you to read the instructions on the inside of the pad, which are a series of symbols that as far as I can tell, mean "Submerge in water" - "Cold water" - "No triangles" - "Do not machine wash/dry" - "Do not iron" and "No circles". Okay. I guess I probably got the important ones, at least. The website instructs you to carefully clean the band with water while not submerging the electronics, and to air dry. You can pop the rubber part on the underside off. The fabric part does not appear to be removable. And finally, one little hint for you if decide to buy these headphones. When putting the headphone pads back on after removing, roll the little "sock" part down over the pad first. Makes it a lot easier.

Suitable headphone for your on-the-move activities

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Adidas RPT-01 over the ear headphones are great for sports and/or other physical activities. It feels like wearing a bandana, although not around your forehead, but the fabric covering the headphones makes them feel like it. As advertised, they are meant to be wireless headphones for on-the-move, the tight grip around the head allows the person wearing them to not care much about making a sudden move and losing them. Of course, even these earphones have their limits in what can be accomplished with them when being on-the-move, don’t try wrestling while wearing them or do contact Karate. It seems best to avoid contact sports, and it is easy to imagine other activities in which wearing them wouldn’t be safe nor make sense, e.g. going rafting (?). Setup was easy, as one can expect from modern devices. Only a couple of things you ought to be aware/careful-of. First, when connecting them through Bluetooth to your phone (or laptop), wait until you get the “headphone” symbol for the device. Initially, you will see an Adidas device listed in your Bluetooth device list and connecting to it won’t really succeed. So just wait for a couple more seconds until the device list shows the Adidas with the “headphone” symbol. Second, turn them on and don’t let the power button go until you see a “blue” flashing light, then it will be ready to get connected. I am a big fun of Adidas for their footwear and clothing lines, and yes, there was some bias in me choosing this set. I am glad I did it, now I have headphones that I can use to do some physical activity with. The only drawback I found from my experience, is that I was hoping it could be used every day and for long periods of time, but this set seems not suitable as your everyday in-the-office/at-home headphones. Overall a 4 star seems reasonable for this device (trying to put away the preference I have for the Adidas brand). Pros - Tight fitting: very firmly attaches themselves to your head. It feels like some sort of bandana thanks to the fabric and the tightness, so you feel like you are in “sporty” mode. - Decent noise cancellation: great for the gym since their noise cancelation is decent enough that I don’t need to worry much about the guy in the adjacent station moaning/suffering while performing their routines. - Great (outstanding) playtime: playtime feels like forever, it’s been over two weeks of a couple of hours use every day and they are still running fine! I had to recharge my phone and laptop multiple times already (of course I don’t use the headphones as much as the laptop/phone). I haven’t tried charging yet, so I cannot say how fast it is recharged. - Sound quality fine: I wasn’t expecting a high-end sound quality, the Adidas RPT-01 headphones provide a very decent sound. I like the fact that you can set the volume to a reasonable level so that you don’t hear anything else but the sound coming out from them without any “auditive discomfort”. - Not oversized: I was worried about going with these headphones to the gym and having people stare at the dude with the big device on his head, but so far it doesn’t feel like they are noticed much, or perhaps people assume they are intended to be used for the gym; well, compared to other over the ear headphones, these are smaller and less bulky. Cons Perhaps the only Con: not recommended for long periods of use. The Pros can be also Cons: they fit too tight to the point that it hurts your ears (and feelings). Yes, the tight grip is needed for keeping them in place while you do your exercises at the gym or jog around the park. Wearing them for too long means you don’t have respect for your earlobes; the first couple of days I wore them for around 3 hours (in different intervals) and my ears felt swollen and sensible to the touch afterwards. I even made my wife, who has a “smaller” head circumference, wear them and she also reported they were a little too tight.

A good solid headphones with functional equalizer

I own several headphones. My current favorite is AirPods Pro which has canceling noise feature. It doesn’t really block the sound completely because of the size. So trying out this Adidas headphone was a bit different experience. I wasn’t expecting the kind of sound that I get when I put on this headphone. My ‘go to’ song for trying out a headphone is Tom Sawyer by Rush. And I have to admit, I heard sounds from this song that I never heard before using this headphone. The software comes with several preset equalizers that actually works really well. I ended up doing a custom one since I like a higher trebles on my music but still enjoy the deep bass. And because of the size, once you put this on, with the right volume, you are blocking the sound from the outside - no noise canceling necessary. But beware, the sound do travel outside the headphone, so your neighbor sitting next to you will be able to hear the music or whatever it is you are listening, especially when you are in a quiet place. My partner, who is a huge fan of Rush, was impressed about how the music sounds in his ear. His comment was, that it would great for him to put this on when he is mowing the lawn. And as this one is designed for exercise, it’s guarantee to stay in your ear. The fit is really tight. I have a medium size head, and this thing pressing quite hard on my ears. But my partner has no issue with the fit. So, I guess everybody is different. The instruction also said that you can wash the headband and the ear cushion. I know how to take the ear cushion of, but as of now, I don’t know how the headband would come of. I have not tried how long the battery will last, but according to the box, this one lasts 40+ hours playing time. I didn’t give the full 5 stars because the button looks and feels a bit cheap. And I am not quite sure how long do I need to press the button for the headphone to turn on. Luckily, there is a light underneath the button that will tell me that the headphone is on. But, another good thing about this headphone, once you set up the Bluetooth in your iPhone, it will connect right away once the headphone is turned on. Overall, I would recommend this headphone, In fact, I think this one has a better sound than my old on-ear Bose which probably isn’t fair comparison since that one is really old.

first the packaging was really nice, deff looks like a solid headphones, the fabric of the headphones are washable so incase you’re planning on using this while working out and you sweat a lot it will not be a problem, I find the audio quality on this headphones was just good, the bass and treble was pretty good, but the quality it self where I find it kinda flat, I do enjoy listening to great quality of sounds, first time wearing this didn’t really give me that woah moment. comfortability was good the headphones were light and it offer a decent sound canceling, but the earcups start making my ears itch after wearing them for a bit, I believe it’s due to the fabric cups, that’s bothering. the headphones are also easy to use with it’s navigation, you can also use the addidas app to control it, and it comes with USB C for your charging needs. overall it’s a decent headphone with good quality of sounds, I think the price might be a little too high, might see it on sale then deff give it a try, this grey headphones deff matched my addidas boost so it’s really nice if you care about matching things you wear.

Great headphones. The quality is pretty good and great for workouts. A little pricey, but I think they are worth it. Battery feels like it never dies. Once you get them adjusted they won't move. They are comfortable. Loved them while they lasted. Had them for about 2.5 years now and just this morning they wouldn't turn on. Still show a charge so probably an issue with the button. Once they're available I will definitely buy another pair.

I have owned several pair of earphones. (I do not find ear buds comfortable to wear) Anyway. Thus far, these are the best. I train hard, I sweat a copious amount, I also do a lot of paddling off shore. The problem I have had with various other brands is over a bit of time, sweat, and water, damages the earphones. These wick away the moisture, and thus far have held up well. They also have a washable ear cover. I read reviews that said the cover is a bit difficult to remove. It is, but it’s just something you have to take your time with. The sound in my opinion is very good, with a nice amount of bass. My only complaint is that for whatever reason, the app is not available in the U.S. The app lets you dial in your sound preferences. For someone who will be wanting a great earphone that will get beat up during workouts, or out in the weather, I would highly suggest these. If someone is just going to kick back in a chair and listen to music sipping a beverage. There may be more comfortable options. These are designed to be more rugged, and while comfortable, I would perhaps shop around for a different brand if I was looking for an “easy listening” ear phone.

    Amazing Headphones

Honestly I did not expect much sound quality wise, I just bought them to work out in and have something to sweat into but once I actually listened to them they were amazing and I was blown away! And not only that but they are probably the most stylish headphones that I have ever had. The only two things that I would criticize it for is the comfort, it is not top notch but I guess that is what you sacrifice in order for them to stay on the head. And second while I was running If I wanted to get a tight fit on them they would start to drop a little in the sense of the headband expanding because of the up and down motion of running but at a certain point it stops so that is not that big of a deal. Overall they are amazing headphones and for anyone looking for something to workout in these are the perfect choice. Note that these are only my first impressions so I not know how they hold up in the long term to please keep that in mind if you are thinking about getting these.

When you head to the gym what is the most important accessory you bring? That is right, headphones. With a large variety to choose from it is imperative to pick something sleek, stylish, comfortable, reliable, and of course high quality sound. If you enjoy on-ear headphones, these Adidas will be a great fit for you. Pros: * Lightweight and comfortable. * Easy to adjust with the ability to do intensive workouts without worrying about them falling off. * Sleek design with a high quality feel. * Long battery life. I was able to safely get in a weeks worth of workouts without thinking twice about charging. The USB-C charging cable allowed for fast charging to full. * Nice sound with impressive bass. You have the ability to choose an equalizer within the app. Intermediate: * App is easy to navigate but pretty limited in functionality. * Limited action button support. There are single, double, and triple press options but I only had the ability to toggle voice assistant and play from Spotify. Seems like this could use some further development. * Small LED light lets you know if it is on, pairing, or turning off. Cons: * I was unable to pair the headphones without downloading the app. * Any mid-to-high end headphones should include a carrying nylon bag or case. The last thing I want to do is have them damaged in my gym bag. Overall, these headphones are great with a few small oversights that can be adjusted in v.2. If you want a comfortable great sounding on-ear pair of athletic headphones, these are definitely something to consider.

I have quite a few audio devices floating around between what I use at the gym, for travel, and for work. Not thinking of Adidas as a device company, I didn’t have very high expectations of these headphones. Right away I was impressed with the design and how incredibly comfortable they are compared to my other on-ear headphones from the brand who shall remain nameless. The construction is very adaptive to your size and unusually comfortable. The materials remind me a lot of what Adidas uses to make shoes, and the cups cover my ears perfectly. Another big surprise was the companion app. With multiple EQ settings including the ability to customize, Siri support, and even functionality to trigger actions in Spotify with the multifunction button - it’s easy to see a lot of thought was put into the quality of this product. By now you should be asking, “well how do they SOUND?” Pretty darn good, to be honest. Deep bass, clear highs, and an all around balanced sound make listening to these so much better than anything else I have laying around the house. It sounds like they have awesome staying power as well, with an up to 40 hour battery life. The only thing I would have done differently is the multifunction control, and this is a minor gripe i have with most wireless headphones these days and not exclusive to this product. It’s not naturally easy to find, and when you do it’s not a natural thing to remember which way you’re pushing and what it does. It’s kind of like playing Simon your eyes closed. I can’t stress this enough - these are worth the $ even compared to the established leaders in this space. Definitely check them out!

Okay. I really wanted to like these headphones. Actually, there are certain things that I do like about them, so, to be fair, I’ll list those things first. I like the styling with the cloth exterior. Makes me think of an old pair of comfortable earmuffs, yet they have that ruggedly soft (?), sporty look. Maybe industrial, in a a cloth-covered sort of way, is a better way to describe them. It’s nice that one can remove the ear “cups” and wash them (by hand). If someone is really going to use them during sweaty workouts, I can only imagine that frequent washings would help prevent the degradation of the cloth material from the salts and acids that we produce, let alone odors. For the short period of time that I was able to wear these headphones, by using the equalizer on the Adidas headphones app, I was able to arrive at a sound quality equal to that of some “elite” earbuds that I also own. Decent highs matched by a good punchy bass. (Listening to Tool’s new Fear Inoculum on the apps “Hip Hop” setting was pretty awesome! Go figure.) Using what Adidas calls the “Action Button” (which you can customize to a certain extent), I was able to enable my Echo network and command/play music from my Amazon account. Anywhere in the house. No phone. Cool. Another big plus for these headphones is the 40 hr. battery power (not tested to the limit), and the extremely fast charging capability with the USB-C (went from 58% to 100% in 16 minutes). All that being said — I can’t stand wearing these headphones! Maybe it’s me. I do have a rather large head, as in the last nubbin or two on the old style baseball caps with the plastic adjustable strap. Maybe someone with a smaller sized head wouldn’t find these uncomfortable, I don’t know. Some have commented on the roughness of the material against the ear. I don’t think that’s what’s doing it. I think it’s the overall tightness that causes me the discomfort. I tried removing the rubber arch that goes over the top of the head. That didn’t help. I even tried a layer of soft t-shirt like cotton material between me and the earpiece, just to see if that was it. Didn’t help. I totally get why these are on the tight side since they’re supposed to be suitable for workouts and running. If I actually used these for the intended purpose, I’d then be dog-tired…with sore ears. Sorry, but for me, my “elite” earbuds are the way to go.

Hello, thank you for your great feedback and trying the RPT-01 headphones. We are sorry to hear that you didn't find these to be a comfortable fit. You can try stretching the headband outwards so that the clamping pressure may release a bit, make sure to do so with your hands on the headband and not on the earpieces. These are my new go to wireless headphones, at first it felt weird I'm use to earbuds but hated the fact that i couldn't find a comfortable pair that didn't slip out when I got sweaty, the Adidas headphones have been Awesome thus far, Love the dark charcoal/black color, they are comfortable the earpads are nicely cushioned & they fit snugly, they are adjustable for head size, it was a quick & easy bluetooth set up took a minute to get use to the call answer button, but your are able to customize the amount of taps to your liking after downloading the app. but the volume & song skip/playback button was easy. They have good surrounding noise reduction. Sound quality is good & adjustable to your liking via the app. The charge lasted me the whole week, still haven't needed to charge them, I work out about 2 hours everyday. Getting a pair for my boyfriend since he keeps trying to steal mine!!! I am highly satisfied with my new headphones.

    Great Sound But Some Issues

After using the the Adidas - RPT-01 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, it seemed like the headohones didn't exactly know what they wanted to be. On one hand, they try to cater to people working out. But on the other hand, they seem like they try to be used by people wanting good quality headphones while watching a movie in bed. In the end though, the headphones don't work great for either one. Out of the box, the headphone look great. The headphones are built well and are not flimsy at all. All the coverings are made from a mesh material so it is breathable for a workout. This can also come off and be washed if necessary. Included in the box is a USB charging cord. So far so good. Here is when I noticed some issues. Also included in the box is a Quick Start Guide and a Legal and Safety Guide. These were really annoying though. The headphones are not necessarily intuitive to connect to your Bluetooth device. So naturally one would look at the Quick Start Guide. The font in this guide is so small you may need a magnifying glass or something else to enlarge the print so you can read it. It makes the print on the back of a medicine bottle look big. This was a pain as I just wanted to connect the headphones to my iPad. The Safety Guide is the exact same way too. Once that was figured out though, then it was time to try out the headphones. The headphones come with an adjustable fit. The earmuffs slide either way to adjust the fit. I had to set these to the largest setting and it just did fit. Some people may find these headphones too small. Also the earmuffs don't completely cover the entire ear. The earmuffs then end up smashing part of the ear when wearing them. After a while, this becomes uncomfortable. Getting past all of that though, the sound on these headphones is really good. The bass is strong but not distorting and the treble ranges are clean. I was really impressed by the sound. The headphones are waterproof. So working out with them on or being near water won't harm the headphones. The headphones are snug when on so they really won't bounce around too much if you work out with them. However, I found them to be a little heavier than what I like to work out in. Built in controls allow you to change music and volume so you don't need to do this on your device which is nice. Overall, the sound of the headphones are really great. However, I feel like with minor improvements, they could be even better.

    Quality audio headphones for anywhere

I picked these headphones up in the quest to find a quality headphone that can be used anywhere from the airport to the gym. These do not disappoint. The headphones come in a nice packaging with a quick start guide and USB-C charging cable. I recommend not wasting your time with the quick start guide, instead download the Adidas Audio app (works seamlessly with my Samsung Galaxy phone). The audio app will walk you through a quick pairing sequence and then you are set. From the app you can customize the left button for preselected options - Spotify, default voice assistance, or do nothing. I typically stream my running playlist from Amazon music, so didn't find much help with these features (-0.25 stars). The right toggle is unique, a 2 second press is the power button, long press to pair, left / right are previous and next song, up / down are volume. The one issue I have is that I'm a lefty, so find myself struggling to always get the correct toggle while I'm out running, its a minor thing, but would prefer the ability to choose which side of the phones have the primary controls. The headphone build quality is good, they are lightweight, but with enough compression to stay in place during a run. The downside is that when I wear for extended periods the pressure becomes uncomfortable (-0.5 stars). Not a huge issue since I don't have any other headphones that will stay in place for the entire duration of a 5 mile run. I love the concept behind washing the ear cushions, but had to search for how to achieve this (twist the entire cup counter clockwise). The fabric can then be washed. To put back together, put the fabric back over the headphone and twist clockwise til it clicks in place. I'm not positive the fabric would hold up to frequent washes, but I'm optimistic that it will hold up to being washed every other month or so. On to the audio quality, its impressive! For the size, the depth and range of sound is top notch, and as expected in this price range. The app provides an equalizer to select the following presets - "Adidas" (zero offset), rock, pop, hip hop, electronic, vocal boost, and custom. Your options for equalizer settings in custom are -5/+5 in 160 and 400 hz, then 1, 2.5 and 6.25 khz. If I'm watching a movie I'll tweak these to get the right voice to sound levels, otherwise I set it to rock which gives the expected increase in high and low ranges. If you're a road runner, I find that it blocks out a lot of traffic noise, which isn't always desired at night, but if you're at the gym, you'll find that the sound immersion is perfect to drown out the background. Overall a highly entheuestiac 4.25 stars. I love the sound, but a bit bummed on the all day comfort. Honestly it's an acceptable trade off to have a quality headphone that stays in place at the gym and during general movement.

    Surprised On How They Performed

Basically, these headphones sound surprisingly amazing, considering they are built for those with an active lifestyle. To me, they sound a whole lot better than some of the household brands we all know and love. They do fit tight around the head and ears, so that's something to think about if you are sensitive to such things, but i didn't dock a star for that because they are made to stay in place while you're doing jump squats or push ups. I enjoyed the unboxing of these headphones as it reminded me of unwrapping a fresh pair of shoes. That is very cool. As for logistics, it did come with a usb-c type cable, but no power brick, so you'll have to source that yourself. Changing the audio settings as well as selecting the behavior of the "action" button can only be done with the adidas headphones app. The action button can be configured so that a single, double or triple tap can launch your favorite spotify track or simply call for your Google Assistant (I did not try with Siri, but I'm sure it works). I did have one complaint and it is the fact that the action button can only be customized to use Spotify. I use other streaming apps for my music and it would be to open up this feature to them. Not a deal breaker because I can just ask Google Assistant to play a particular track at any time. Highly recommended.
