I haul fuel for a living and my fellow company drivers and I spend most of our road time each shift talking with each other over the phone. The problem with hearing other drivers while driving, as other truckers know, is that the cab of most trucks are noisier than one finds in a car, or in some office environment so a lot of the conversation can be missed, or it includes a lot of, "What was that, I didn't hear you?"
Blue Parrott blue tooth devices are of course a big favorite among truckers, I have one myself, and it works very well, but it has drawbacks. They're kind of bulky, when I'm outside in the hot sun the padded ear muff gets sweaty and slides off my ear, until recently they only had a one-ear receiver, if you lose the fluffy ball at the end of the boom mic the noise cancellation suddenly goes in the dumpster (which means the real noise cancellation IS the fluffy ball and the actual noise cancellation sucks), and the over-the-head design means you can't wear a hat while using the device because it is too short to go over the top and doesn't allow a hat to go over the device.
Enter the AfterShokz OpenComm. I had never used a bone conductive Bluetooth before so I was kind of unsure about this technology, but also kind of excited to try it out. I decided to try it by buying from Best Buy because they had a 15 day no hassle return policy which would allow me to buy with confidence in case the AfterShokz didn't work well in my work environment. Well I can say, after about five weeks of use with the AfterShokz at work that I love this thing, I've even been trying to get some of my fellow drivers to get their own. The bone conduction actually sounds as clear as any device I've used over-the-ear or in-the-ear, it's really weird how it sounds as if you're hearing it through your ear canal. It cures all the issues I've had with my Blue Parrott as well, I can wear hats, it doesn't slip off, it's very lightweight, it's flexibility makes it feel like it could take beating, and the noise cancellation in the boom mic is second to none. I can literally wear this thing next to my trucks exposed running engine, or in very strong Oklahoma winds and the other drivers tell me that they can hear me clearly and don't even hear the external noise around me at all, that is amazing!
Now I will point out that there is one drawback to this device, and at the same time that drawback can also be counted as a plus for truck drivers. We professional drivers are only allowed to use hands-free devices (Bluetooths) and in most states we have to have at least one ear unobstructed so that we can hear sounds around us. So the good point is that both of your ears are unobstructed with this device so you can stay within the law, but on the down side a pair of unobstructed ears allows outside sounds in your ear canal to compete with the bone conducted sound vibrating against your skull. Fortunately there is a fix for this issue, and that is to plug an ear. I actually use an old Bluetooth ear bud that is turned off, but which happens to fit very comfortably in my ears, as an ear plug. I only need to do this in noisy environments, like in a truck, so that I can hear better, in quieter settings it is not necessary to plug an ear, the bone conduction works great.
So my assessment is that this is probably the best Bluetooth headset I have ever owned and I am very pleased with my purchase (although I wish I had waited a few weeks because the price dropped $30 after that), so for my fellow drivers out there I say give it a try, Best Buy lets you try it for 15 days so you have nothing to lose. Truck Driver Approved......Copy that!

So far I really love this headset. The battery life is the best out there right now and the recharge time is sure fast. This headset is so comfortable you can wear it all day long and forget it is there. With the battery life that is not a problem as well. Best headset for the money you will find

Great headset. Waterproof is real. No issues getting wet while sweating, in the shower or cleaning. Great sound even while being able to hear what going on around me. It's a different experience and not for everyone. If you are. These work great. The battery life is as advertised. I seldom have to charge it unless i am listening to music in the background all night at work. The proprietary charging cable seems a little flimsy BUT....it is well though out and makes a great connection. It won't wear out like the USB cords of past headsets. The noise canceling is 9 out of 10. It works a lot better than most out ther but after having Plantronics set the bar with the Wind Noise canceling t's hard to get a ten. Comfort is great. I forget i am wearing them even after 12 hours. I wear them more than the Plantronics because of the stereo sound.
The price is a little of a shock. I was skeptical at fist but not i feel the value is on point with the quality and function. So far the durrability is impressive. I am rough on headsets. I get them wet and take them in rough environments.
Kudos After Shocks

This is made for people who zoom constantly or people who stay on the phone all day for their job. I wear these 8+ hrs a day remote teaching. These are not hi fi headphones although music sounds fine. Also, these leave the ears unimpeded so you can hear ambient sound. Good if you are taking a call but want to be aware of your surroundings.
Comfortable and charge lasts all day. Noise cancellation works well. I was going crazy from the noise by the landscapers but the students didn’t even notice it. Sometimes, I don’t even notice that I still have them on.
Charger however is proprietary. Would be useful if it used an open standard so you could have a charger in multiple places (car, at desk and bedroom.) Other aftershokz will pair with multiple devices. Would be great if this did as well so I could answer calls on my cell as well as teach. No such luck. Will pair with one device only.
Good device. Would buy again. Happy to buy with discounts. Too expensive otherwise.

I had previously purchased both types of the bone conduction headphones for my outdoor exercise, and found both to be reliable and comfortable, so when I saw that these were available, I thought I might try them for connection to my work laptop for online meetings.
After opening the box and fully charging for the first time, pairing with my laptop was super easy and quick. The quality of sound is quite clear, and in polling the team with whom I work, they all stated that the sound of my voice was also clear.
Additionally, I wear glasses and find over the ear headphones to be uncomfortable; this headset is not, and I definitely appreciate that I can hear sounds in my surroundings during calls. I haven't had a super heavy (7+ hours) meetings day since purchasing these, but so far, I've not run into an issue with the battery dying before the end of the day.

Super comfortable headphones. You will forget that they are on. No discomfort since they do not go in your ear. Super long battery life and very quick to charge. Pairing is simple and you can have two devices connected at once

I like this one, as my friend who's a trucker now sounds as if she's at home when I call her. I'm bummed as they are a bit bigger then I wanted. I could have bought a smaller one, but it wouldn't have a mic.

I wear my Shokz every day for work, connected to my PC for Zoom / Teams calls and have a 2nd pair I use with my smart phone. They are lightweight, have great sound and leave your ears open for interaction with people around you. These are perfect for anyone who drives for a living or needs situational awareness that in/over-ear designs limit. They last an entire day on a single charge and their noise-canceling mic is excellent. Cons: They sometimes disconnect from their host and I've not found a way to upgrade their firmware.

Product is very comfortable and rests on your ears without putting any pressure on the skin. The sound is clear. The bone conduction technology takes a few hours to one day to get used to. The person on the other end reports the sound coming through clear and sharp. The only complaint someone gave me while I was talking to them was background noise only because they had air pods in with the volume up too high. Otherwise noise cancellation is great and background noise almost never problematic. Battery life is very long. Excellent purchase. Very satisfied customer.

New teleworker, Getting my Home Office set up. I have probably been through 15 other headsets mailed and return back that have just been uncomfortable or bad quality or caught that I would not want to wear for 8 plus hours a day.
I'll admit I ordered this mostly out of curiosity and really did not want to like it because of the cost but Wowzer, the sound quality is just amazing and that's on both ends - the incoming audio and the outgoing audio as well. This bone conducting audio is magical sourcery!
Definitely keeping it! It is definitely something that you would wear all day not even notice you have it on. Super light and comfortable and doesn't mess your hair up :)

Use these everyday! For the most part they are comfortable and very flexible. Great sound especially on calls and Teams meetings. I have them connected to my phone and laptop (search online how to do it) and for the most part switching over is easy. When I play a video on my phone audio comes in, as soon as I open a Teams meeting the audio switches over. Same with calls.
Audio quality for calls is great, for music it’s so-so. Not bad, but I’m a bass head so don’t expect the thump you’re use to. They are for the most part comfortable to wear, but do become irritating as the day goes on. The rumble from the ear nodes from high volumes can make you a bit uncomfortable. Not the worst to wear laying down, just need to tilt them up a bit depending on how you lay.
Other issues: Controlling sound levels on a teams meeting. The built in buttons on the device doesn’t control the sound in all cases. When connected to Teams on my iPhone, it works but to my laptop, no.
Also the battery life is ok, not great. Coming from the 16+ hour battery life from Bose was a little troublesome but 8 hours is workable. I charge everyday and haven’t run into any issues, but I do panic when I hear the prompt on the headset say “battery medium” after 5ish hours of use.
Overall great product and worth the price if you work from home or want to stay aware of your surroundings using a quality headset.
Giving 5 stars because no headset is perfect and the pros of the open ear design and clarity of the microphone outweighs any of the issues above. Works flawless in most cases and music sounds great at low-medium levels. Comes with a nice case, but very bulky. It’s somewhere in my closet, but if I ever really need to use it, the headset fits right in with enough space to hold maybe a phone size amount of extras.
Cheers all, hope this review helps

I want to say I love these, because to an extent, I do. In the older model, it seems like the mic would die a lot. Had two of those do that in the last 3 years. This new model is great so far. We have two of them. I will say I had a way better experience purchasing through BestBuy than I did with my purchase through Shokz themselves. The salesman I felt with at BestBuy was in a bit of a rush, however, when I expressed I was frustrated with this and just wanted him to slow down, he was great. He apologized, we ordered online through the store, and my item arrived a day early.

As a salesman Im on the phone mininum 4-5 hours a day. I tried every headphone and earpod, airpod, this and that. Either customers couldnt hear me or battery died on me, my ears hurt i had to take them off etc. I decided to try Aftershokz headset because it offers a new technology. Yesterday it was my first day using them. I started using them wihtout charging them and all day no problem. Sound quality is amazing. No headache or earache. Im a bestbuy elite member so i shop at bestbuy a lot but i dont write reviews often. Im taking my time to do this because im very very impressed.

The noise cancelation of these is amazing. If someone is talking and they are more than 6 feet away, you cannot hear them at all. If they are closer and not in your face they will be heard, but only faintly.
I have my parrot in my office and she has to be loud for anyone to hear her talking. Her normal noise cannot be heard.
I also love the bone conduction. I am in meetings for up to 7 hours a day. I don't like my ears covered for that long.
So far the charge lasts for a full day of meetings. We will see how that lasts as they age. Also they charge fairly quickly.

''AN EXCELLENT HEADSET FOR A TRUCK DRIVER OR CONSTRUCTION WORKER.'' IT ALLOWS YOU TO WEAR A HAT OR HARD HAT WITH THIS HEADSET. IT KEEPS YOUR EARS OPEN SO YOU CAN HEAR WHATS GOING ON AROUND YOU-MEANING THE BONE CONDUCTION. THE SOUND QUALITY IS GOOD FOR SUCH A SMALL DEVICE AND THE BATTERY LASTS ALL DAY. THE NOISE CANCELLING BOOM MIC, SO FAR, SEEMS TO BE GOOD FROM WHAT OTHERS SAY, THAT I TALK TO. IT IS SMALL AND LIGHTWEIGHT, AND COMES A REALLY NICE HARD CASE. I LOVE THE WAY THE CHARGE CONNECTOR IS MAGNETIC AND CONNECTS ITSELF WHEN IN PROXIMITY OF HEADSET. I HAVE HAD FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND SO FAR SO GOOD.
