What is there to say about Akira? It is an all time classic anime and deserves to be watched. Check it out!

Found a great deal at bestbuy and had not seen it but herd great things before purchase awesome movie

Not going to spoil it, if your a anime fan and don't have Akira than your collection is lacking

A beautifully told story in a dystopian future. Recommend to anyone who’s a fan of cyberpunk genre.

The new metal collector's case for the Akira Blu-ray set is the first of its kind since 2001, when Pioneer put out a deluxe metal case for its Special Edition DVD set. That alone makes it worth getting, but there's also a bonus--the case includes a 32-page booklet, previously produced for the very first pressing of the original Bandai Visual Blu-ray in 2009. Out of print since that initial run, the booklet provides a valuable look at the movie, particularly at the remastering of the original Japanese track into "Hypersonic audio" (currently the only audio track of its kind). The discs are the same as in the original 25th Anniversary set, but the package is absolutely worth getting (again), especially for the "Hypersonic" Japanese track, which can be heard with most receivers that decode Dolby TrueHD (and which is really the way it's meant to be seen and heard, in its original language). I couldn't recommend this any more than it has already been, except to say that this version is a must for anime collectors, and a great jumping-on point for almost anyone who wants to try the graphic medium for the first time.

A film ahead of its time. Sets an example for many anime series that came after. Highly recommended.

Animation is top notch even considering this movie released in 1988. Very good action sequences.

Kaneda, Tetsuo, Akira. Wow those names just resonate throughout this complex and compelling film. Flawless transfer to 4k of an 80s print with some of the best hand drawn animation you will ever see. I haven't compared it side by side with my Blu Ray but, it does seem extraordinarily crisp with great black levels. If you even remotely like anime (or Heavy Metal or Blade Runner for that matter) and haven't seen this, pick it up with confidence. I also like the audio track quite well here and as before the English dub actually shines. You'll need it in order not to read and miss all the jump cuts, visual detail and richness of this work of art. Which on the first time through can be disorienting. Enjoy!

I haven't seen the movie but the case is truly unique. The main character and his cycle are embossed.

My nephew loved this as a birthday gift. It was actually cheaper purchasing here than Amazon.

Nice reworking on the classic Akira poster pic. Bonuses are the same as other releases before it, but I bought because the other version I had was a Japanese release and this steelbook had the same booklet info anyways.

I already own this movie but I couldn't pass up the steelbook Edition. It looks so cool
