This groundbreaking movie has been one of my favorites since way back. I'm not really into anime anymore, but this is one worth checking out...again and again. I've been looking for it for about three years and could only find it in Japanese format or the US releases in the 2000's that were priced over $100. $10 and a free reward certificate is a no brainer.

I first viewed AKIRA approximately 30 years ago. On a VHS tape, boot-leg copy from a LaserDisk, it was in Japanese, no subs. It was a breakthrough imo, what we called, "Disney-type" animation, sans 99% of the hallmarks of "anime". To refer to AKIRA as anime, is like saying that ALIEN is just another monster movie.

This is one of the greatest achievements in hand-drawn animated films. When it comes to the world of anime, this film is essential viewing. This 25th anniversary edition looks amazing and comes with three audio tracks to choose from- the 1988 English, 2001 English re-dub, and a 2009 Japanese re-dub. Totally worth putting in your collection.

Akira is Masterpiece that stands up as time goes on .Akira is about two friends Kaneda Shotaro and Tetsuo Shima. That are part of a biker gang one night Tetsuo is hurt in an accident Tetsuo starts going throw some changes he starts to get psychic powers. Kaneda and Tetsuo find themselves on opposite sides

Akira is a classic anime. To some people, it is one of the best anime out there. While I don't think it is the best, it is really high up on the list! The animation is top-notch, especially it being done in 1988. The voice/lip-sync is right on, if you watch it in subtitle that is! The story is extremely intelligent and sometimes brutal. You will not be disappointed!

if you never owned or seen this movie you owe it to yourself to do so its a masterpiece of animation with a great story and great characters great music great action i mean i love this movie and anyone whos a sci-fi or anime fan should own this piece of cinematic history

Finally, one of the best Anime movies EVER gets the special edition treatment. And they do the best on this edition. If you like Akira in any way, get this now. If you have an older copy, give that copy to a friend and buy this! THIS IS THAT GOOD!

Back when Anime was known as Japanimation, where classics that gave birth to the era. Like old school stuff, you hipster? Get this movie and you won't be disappointed.

This is a must watch anime. The story is crazy and out there, but it's a wild ride that must be taken. The Blu-Ray is great because it includes both dubs of the movie.

The greatest sequence is when one of the girls loses her top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Often imitated, rarely matched. I admit to getting a bit by the end of each viewing, but the journey is always rewarding.
