snd8504,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the issues with your computer freezing that you're facing. We'd recommend troubleshooting the freezes with these steps:
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

Really impressed by this desktop except the side lighting seems to cut out sometimes due to software issues. It seems like software issues from alienware are the issue and not the hardware itself. Great package overall

This PC is beautiful to look at, it has all the latest hardware, and I absolutely love it. I was a little worried some reviews mentioned that this PC gets loud, but with liquid cooling, I hardly hear any fan noise. 5 stars.

I didn't listen to the bad reviews when I bought my first computer, this one. I didn't listen to my friends when they told me to build my own and not get an Alienware because they're overpriced for being bad. Within months of having it, it blue screened. Multiple times. It finally stopped and started to have sound issues. It would cut out sound on my game, music, discord, everything and have a red "x" at the bottom with the speaker symbol on the home screen. I would have to click it to make it fix itself. Not to mention how LONG it takes to start up. People weren't kidding!! NOW, something is going out. I've only had it for two years, and I clean it and take care of it. My computer will completely entirely 100% brick. Can't ctrl + alt + delete.. nope. I can't move my mouse, nothing. It just freezes. So I have to reboot my computer. As a gamer, voice actress, and streamer... I NEED my computer to work, and it is failing me one to many times. Do not buy this computer, build your own. I wasted nearly $2000 on something I was going to have to tear apart two years later just to spend more money in rebuilding it. The case is a whole other ridiculous issue too. I have to buy a new case just to fit in new parts because of how they built the Aurora. Just stupid.

I love this computer! If you are a hard core gamer - get this computer. Graphics are smooth, computer is silent. Processing speed is great. Works well with VR. I use this also for remote desktop and doing my work from home.

Out of the box great performance and a good value, especially given the current market for PC parts. It’s hindered only by fan noise and minor software bugs. Good build quality and compact size with less gaming pc aesthetics than the norm. Plenty of ports for all your devices. Pros: -Good performance and cooling -HDD with Optane is on par with SSD -Form factor -Upgradable -Plenty of ports (13 USB, and 2 Type C) Cons: -Fan noise -Alienware Control doesn’t run on startup Build Quality: The build quality is solid, despite being mostly plastic. The form factor is a lot smaller than I thought it would be, more so had they eliminated the gamer aesthetics. The side panels and power button have independent RGB, which you can set through the Alienware Command Center. There are no wires connecting to the side panel so removing it is very easy. There’s a latch you slide down to unlock it. Once opened you can unlock the and swing the side mounted power supply panel to access the interior. On the back, there are so many ports. 6 USB 2, 4 USB 3, and 1 USB Type C. There’s 3 more USB and another Type C ports at the front. Seems to be good amounts of airflow, and so far cooling isn’t an issue. The included keyboard and mouse is usable, but should probably be replaced whenever possible, especially the mouse. Performance: Simply, it’s great. Gaming at 1440p with steady 60fps whild the CPU stays around 50c and GPU reaching around 70-75c. I don’t play the most demanding games, so the 1070 is more than enough for me. The HDD speed was a pleasant surprise for me. I didn’t think HDD with Optane would really be as fast as SSD, but cold boot started up fast and games loads just as fast. The most annoying thing for me is the fan noise. Even at idle this thing is noticeably loud. It’s like having a smaller heater on my desk. Setting a fan curve didn’t make that much of a difference. While gaming, it does ramp up a bit, but not so much to distract from playing. Any possible Windows issue aside, the other common issue I’ve seen is that the Command Center doesn’t start when the computer is turned on, even though it’s on autostart. Not a big deal. I do like the Thermal Controls. It’s simple enough to see the main readouts plus you can pull each tab and dock them on the desktop so you don’t need to have the full window open just to monitor your CPU and GPU temps. While it’s not the quietest rig, overall it’s a good and simple entry machine for those that don’t want to bother and build their own. GPU and ram pricing alone right now makes it a good value.

This thing is an animal with plenty of room to expand if needed. Bought it for an occasional gaming rig. Will update when I get more seat time with it. So far pretty good build quality and specs for the price.

This was an amazing deal! Phenomenal gaming computer. GTX 1070 is awesome! My only complaint would be the lack of an SSD, but for the price I can't complain.

That’s Ian a good equipment but really price for me. My son was requiring this for long time and I did an effort to get it for him...so far he is happy with this without any complains.

Bought this computer 5 months ago and started having problems within the first few weeks. For me the main issue is game lag followed by programs freezing. The initial problem included lag and images not loading properly in various games. I called Dell tech support and they ran various diagnostic software all of which passed but still could not play games. Ultimately I ended up restoring Windows after which things seemed to run good for a couple weeks and then starting having lag issues again. It does seem to do ok browsing the internet, checking e-mail and watching YouTube videos but just not working very good for games. Overall I am disappointed with this computer. At this point plan to continue to try different things to troubleshoot the issue but might just have to get by until I can save up for a different computer and may switch back to my other computer. Note that prior to this computer had an Alienware Alpha and haven't had any issues. Also for reference play games such as League, Overwatch, Fortnite. If you do decide to buy I would definitely consider getting extended warranty. Last thing still happy with Best Buy and continue to buy things. Never have had any issues with products in the past, just this particular computer. My rating is just for the computer. Thanks

2 years out, and this beast is still going strong. Easily capable of handling new games at high quality graphics with ease and speed. I absolutely love it.

Been a solid PC so far .. only use it for fun so games, surfing, music etc etc. It was a better deal, at the time, then having a box built.

I purchased this for the Oculus Rift VR system. Worth every penny! I haven’t had one issue and the tech support is awesome! (I just had a question)

I love this machine. It’s super fast but even with the optane memory it still doesn’t suffice in comparison to SSD

This was my first experience with Dell AlienWare. I will have to say not very pleased. I almost returned system due to various reasons. First, I have to say I replaced a 5yrs HP Pavilion Envy H8-1534 that had its days and couldn’t upgrade any farther. Never experienced so much trouble as I did with this. Issue# 1 is the Hard Drive is not solid state which I replace with solid state and this improved performance. Secondly every time after playing intense graphics games for (shadow of Tomb Raider, Battlefield V,4, &1) the computer would reboot. Thirdly, the video card overheats and shut down. I've run Dell System Diagnostic multiple time and no issues found. I’m contacting Dell Tec support and Plan to purchase a better system however I will miss the multiple USB port (13 total) which was one major factor for purchase and discounted price by $200.
