Good basic headset, but a little clunky/chunky

If you saw last year's version of this one you won't see much different. They do have an all cloth ear cushion, but the rest is about the same. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done.
Previous year's version was a little higher priced, so these being a bit less is a good thing. Out of the box these just come with a detachable 3.5mm connector style cable with in-line controls. A Y-splitter audio/mic for computer use is also included. No manual or instructions, but there isn't much to a wired headset. The mute and volume controls are on the 3.5mm cable, so there are no buttons or switches on the headset itself. The microphone slides in and out of the left ear cup and is flexible.
Sound quality is about average and so is the microphone. I got no echo problems with the mic on PS4 or PC and people could hear me well enough. The sound quality and bass is pretty solid and for a stereo headset you can detect where certain sounds like gunfire or footsteps are coming from. So they pass the gaming test overall.
The style of the headphones is a bit clunky and bulky looking. These won't win any style points and are a bit big. The all plastic design is a little cheap feeling and the way the headband expands and shortens to fit your head doesn't feel very durable. It's not a traditional design of an adjustable band with a metal inner band.
So if you are in the market for a solid, yet uninspired headset on a budget, these will get the job done. I would recommend these if you aren't looking to spend big $$ on a headset.

The Alienware AW310H wired gaming headset surprised me with the amount of comfort and sound output when I first tried these on!
In the box, the headset is secured in formed plastic and held in by a velcro strap on each side of the arm. The 3.5mm plug and splitter is contained in a fold out portion at the bottom. Taking the sleeve off of the box proved a bit difficult sometimes due to a piece of plastic they decided to glue to the inside of the sleeve that makes it catch on the box as you open it. Taking the headset out of the box, it is very sturdy and rigid feeling, but made me hesitate on its quality the way the cups slide and rotate. The cups slide up and down inside the arm, instead of like other headsets that the arm pulls out and adjusts. I do like the way it adjusts on this headset. The swivel for the cups feels sturdier than it looks and has a nice feel.
The cups are very large. I have big ears and the cups fit over them completely and very comfortably. I can't really say that about many headsets. Also my head is large and the headphones fit nice on my head and does not feel tight or compressing. There is a nice foam padding on the top of the arm and is comfortable on the top of the head.
The 3.5mm wire has an inline volume control and mic mute. The mic mute is on a slider switch while the volume control is on a dial. You are not able to adjust voice level separate from what I have experienced. There is also an included y cable for you to be able to plug the headset into the mic input and headset input on the computer.
The microphone on the headset is short and retracts into the headset when not being used. It is a nice feature but I would almost like the mic to be a bit longer. Even with it being shorter though, the mic quality seems solid and everyone was able to hear me loud and clear on the other end.
The headset is advertised as only for certain Alienware computers, but the basic 3.5mm works in any headphone jack and the Y cable works with any computer that has the mic and headphone ports next to eachother. I'm not really sure why it is only advertised for select Alienware computers. I have an Alienware laptop and desktop that say are compatible with the headset, but then it works fine plugged into other devices with headphone jacks. Maybe I'm missing something?
On to sound quality. The sound is sharp and can get loud. When it is turned up, there is almost no distortion and plays very clear. The headset boasts large 50mm drivers, and you are able to hear a lot of things you can not normally hear. The surround effect is engaging and accurate. The bass in the headphones is average but not enough sometimes. It has enough of a beat to be strong and eccentric, but for music it could provide a bit more, or maybe an equalizer in some capacity.
Overall, I love these headphones for gaming. They fit so comfortable, and I can wear them for hours with out ear fatigue. The sound is a great quality and they can get loud. Overall definitely worth recommending.

Upon opening the box, there wasn't much else inside. Besides the headset, there was a Y splitter cable for the microphone and a small paper with warranty information. The headset was easy enough to plug in at first, but because there was no setup guide I had a hard time finding the mute button. I eventually found out that there is a sliding mute button on the main headset cable, which also has the volume control wheel on it.
When wearing the headset, the level of comfort is very high. The ear pads are nice and big, made of a soft material, and don't squeeze your ears too hard. The headband cushion is also very comfortable, allowing you to wear it for long periods of time without getting sweaty or hot. Finally, the headset stays on your head really well without being too tight and causing headaches like many other headsets.
In terms of audio the mids and high are very clear, perfect for listening to voice chat or game audio. The headset is also able to get very loud without too much distortion. However, the bass is a little quiet and muddy, making a lot of music not sound the greatest.
The microphone can retract back into the headset, so it is out of the way when you don't need it. Nevertheless, the microphone quality is pretty underwhelming. There is no pop filter so there are often air popping sounds while talking. In addition, when the volume is turned up there is a small, constant amount of background noise. In general, the mic is clear and does what it needs too, but is a little low quality compared to the rest of the headset.
Overall, the headset is not perfect but it is a very good quality for the price. This makes it a great choice over other headsets at the same price point.

The Dell Alienware AW310H Gaming Headsets are a good set of headphones for gaming. They have an all plastic design that are leightweight, but seem to be pretty sturdy. It has a fabric material underneath the headband that is a soft fabric type material. The earpieces are made of a soft fabric type material as well, and they can easily be removed. This can come in handy if you need to gently hand wash the ear cups or replace them. The ear cups can be adjusted up and down by sliding the ear cups within the groove of the piece that ear cups are connected to. The part that the ear cups are attached to have an Alienware logo, but they are not RGB. They do not light up at all, but it would be cool if they did. The ear cups can be folded which allows you to wear them around your neck, and also for placing them in your bag. The retractable microphone can be extended when needed and manually retracted inside of the left ear cup. This makes it great for those times when you do not need the microphone but don’t want the microphone sticking out. Some headsets allow you to remove the microphone boom, but you can also misplace it. No worries of misplacing the microphone boom with this setup. The ear cups fit very tightly to my head. It can become slightly uncomfortable if I’m wearing them for too long. However, the tight fit has a plus in that it does a really good job of blocking outside noises. The included cable has an adjustable volume control. I noticed the volume control does not adjust the volume of your computer, but only the volume of the headsets themselves. On my MacBook Pro I’m able to plug the single cable into my headphone port and use the headset’s microphone. It pics up my voice much better than using the laptop’s built in microphone. Overall, I’m enjoying this headsets and hope to get longtime use out of them.

Good Gaming Headphones

These headphones are pretty comfortable, but a bit heavier than other gaming headphones I have used in the past. The sound quality is great for gaming, as they have strong bass, and fairly clear sound. The mic quality is pretty good, and it is very convenient to have it retract when not in use. They are close back headphones which do a great job at keeping outside sounds dampened and let you get focused when using them. The mixer is actually very conveniently placed on the cable, and has a good range of control. I have a couple headphones that use chat a gaming sound as separate which creates a inconvenient experience of changing both of them and the digital mixer, so it is nice that these just have a simple mixer on the cable. The main things I dislike about the headphones are that they are a bit ridged, but they do have enough points of movement that they are comfortable once broken in. The other thing I found annoying was the short cable for the connection to my computer as it is only roughly 5 feet long. This is not very much distance unless you are using a laptop or a computer that is right next to you.

This is a full sized wired headset that plugs into any 3.5 mm jack. My favorite feature is that the microphone is retractable. I like that when I hang up my headset, I don’t have to worry about the microphone getting in the way. It slides right in and out of the ear cup.
Weighing in at ¾ of a pound, this headset is lightweight and the memory foam used for the ear pad makes them very comfortable. The fabric and leather-like material make so that these do not get hot while you are wearing them, which makes them even better.
The noise cancellation on this headset is great. I don’t like being interrupted by background noises while playing because it is very distracting. These really work at getting rid of that noise. There is also a volume control on the wire for the headset so that you can turn the volume up or down with ease.
The microphone is Discord-certified, which considering the price on this headset is really good. There is really no distortion but if there is some background noise the microphone may pick it up. Knowing the microphone is unidirectional, I was a bit surprised.
If you are looking for a good mid range gaming headset from a renowned company for an inexpensive price, this is a great choice. With the price of this headset, you are not getting all the bells and whistles. There is no 7.1 surround sound, no game modes, or software support. With all that said, the headset sound and price is really good for what you are getting.

This Alienware 310H wired headset is an excellent product and good purchase for anyone playing games, listening to music or perhaps taking zoom calls.
For starters, even without active noise cancelling, it blocks out sounds really well and immerses you into whatever it is you are listening to. Built for gamers, these are also excellent for listening to music while working or studying. With crisp tones and adequate bass, you can certainly lose yourself in the moment whether gaming or being totally into your music.
As for the fit, the cushions are super comfortable and the fit is snug. For some they may be a bit too tight for lengthy listening times. That said, they will not feel loose as your head as it moves or changes position, staying in place as expected.
The retractable microphone is very good. It sounds smooth and I haven’t heard anything cut out or sound scratchy. With mute and volume controls built onto the cord, they are easy to get to and change as necessary.
I really like that they come with a 2-year warranty as it shows a commitment to stand behind their product.
Overall, good purchase for a decent headset that won’t disappoint!

These have got to be the most comfortable set of headphones I have ever owned. I think fit is subjective to the person so hopefully a description will help any buyers. I have an average head and wear a cap size 7 5/8. That cap size is a little loose around me which I prefer. The earpads and the padding on the headband is made of memory foam and is very comfortable. I have used this headphone for a few hours at a time and have found no discomfort. A little warm yes, but I think that could just be me.
Aesthetically, I think they look great. Plain and simple all black with Alienware logo on the side. Love the retractable microphone which helps when storing or hanging it up. The microphone itself is clear and precise. I had no complaints from anyone I was speaking too. I even had loud background noise to see if it effected the other person ability to hear me. The sound quality was very good. Not audiophile quality but very good. My children said it wasn't loud enough but for me it was more than enough. Noise cancellation was outstanding. Buyer must also know that these are wired headphones so absolutely no latency as I could tell. I think for the price of the headsets from such a well known co., it is an exceptional value. Definitely a must buy!

Looking to get a high quality headset that takes gaming to another level?
Look no further than the Dell Alienware AW310H Wired Stereo Gaming Headset. This headset brings everything you could ask for in a gaming headset.
This headset features a custom-tuned 50mm 20Hz-40KHz drivers for high-resolution audio. How did it translate into real world performance?
Booted up Call of Duty and I could hear the enemies footsteps behind me and before they were visible when it mattered. The clarity was really good and surprised me with how amazing it was.
The headset comfort was exceptional with its very plush ear cups that sat perfectly on my head. The top band didn’t press down and cause discomfort after a long session.
The overall build quality I would rate is exceptional. The Plastics are noticeable but not to the point where it feels cheap. The style and design complements this headset form and function.
One added bonus is that the headset is discord certified and has a retractable boom. The noise suppression worked really well on it.
Over all the sound quality is amazing and headset I would use as an everyday headset for gaming.

The AW310H Wired Stereo Gaming Headset is a great starter headset. No frills, and they get the job done.
The headset is adjustable to give you a tight, but comfortable fit. The microphone is built into the left earcup . It is retractable. So far I have not had any complaints on Zoom calls. The microphone can be muted right from the headset which is a nice touch. The volume dial is nice to have, instead of having to use the Windows volume control.
For my use, they have worked well for Zoom calls, gaming, and some phone calls via my computer.
They look and feel great. The included 3.5mm cable is well made. There is no sound from the cord when moving around either. I had another Alienware headset that had that issue. It was very annoying, and I ended up not using them, since it was past the return policy. These work fine. They are only STERO, not 7.1 Surround. For the price though, they work great.
Very comfortable too. I used them watch around 3 hours of YouTube videos, and I felt no fatigue on my ears.
All in all a decent set of headphones to have by any computer.

These headphones look large, but are actually light for the size. The sound quality is great and works seamlessly with Dolby Atmos. The mic pulls out of the left ear piece and pics of your voice clearly. It pushes back in when not in use to neatly stay out of your way. There is no actual mute button so you must push it back in to deactivate. The volume control is a few inches down on the cord and is convenient to control. The cord length is plenty long enough and has a clasp to wrap extra. I mostly play first shooter games on a Xbox Series X. It works well with my Xbox controller and I can hear sounds in the game as if they are actually in the room. The ear pieces are foam and stay cool under long gaming sessions. The head piece is also well padded and does not put pressure on your head. Adjusting the headset is a little awkward when you are not wearing but adjust easily once you put them on. The are made by Alienware and the quality is what you would expect from a major gaming brand. The look is high-tech as well and rounds out your gaming attire.

I've used a few stereo headsets over the years, these are up there as a good enough entry level headset. They sound good, they look cool but they have some downsides.
The good: They are ridiculously comfortable, due to the size of the drivers, they should fit over everyone's ears really easily. The cups are really soft and after hours of constant use I don't feel any fatigue at all. They sound good for a stereo headset, music sounds crisp and clear and sounds as good as I expect them too. Game audio, especially spatial awareness, isn't held back by being only stereo audio, footsteps sound directional which is important for games like Warzone or Apex. The inline mute switch is a nice touch, I won't buy a headset that doesn't have one, it's a lot faster than hunting for the software mute in a zoom meeting. The retractable mic is really nice as well, I really like being able to tuck it away when not needed.
The downsides: They're big, like comically big. While it's an upside for fitting probably everyone and good sound quality, the cups are massive and makes them annoying to handle occasionally. On one of my laptops I've tested with, the universal port (audio and microphone in one jack) doesn't work with the mic in this headset. That's only one laptop though, it works fine on some and not others, so keep that in mind. If you don't have separate mic and audio ports on your computer, you run the risk of the mic not working. The biggest annoyance to me though is that the cups rotate the wrong direction. So if you want to lay them down flat with the soft side face down on your desk, you have to flip them over. So the left cup is now on your right when they're face down. So you can't just pick them up off the desk, you have to flip them over first. Something like that is really frustrating to me, it might not bother everyone, but it's a poor design choice IMO and worth pointing out. And with how big the cups are, the ergonomics in this scenario aren't great.
There are a lot of headsets in the price range, I think these sound better than others I've used (brands that start with L or C) but some of the ergonomic choices here would make me consider the others over this. They sound good, and definitely will not let you down in normal use that's for sure.

Poor Quality Sound, Not Worthy of Alienware Name
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I'm shocked by the poor audio quality of the Alienware AW310H stereo headset. I have owned and used Alienware products for a while and normally they're at the top-end of quality gaming, but the AW310H are best described as mediocre. Out of the box the build quality feels great. The AW310H have decent weight, the foam earcups are soft, feel comfortable, and there is ample padding on the headband.
Personally I'm not a fan of the AW310H's retractable microphone, but it works although isn't great for a rapid mute when you're AFK. As a wired headset, the AW310H's connect using a 3.5mm audio jack (standard) but also in the box is a stereo adapter. FYI, the audio cable has an inline mute and volume control (there's no volume control on the headset, it's on the inline control). Don't be tricked by the photos, the inline control is not a microphone.
Using the Alienware AW310H's though left me very disappointed. The audio tuning is very high in treble and sounded has not bass and is washed out - Overwatch League, Overwatch League 2 (Beta), Fortnite, and more just sounded so flat and lifeless, it felt like I was using a cheap disposable set of headphones. Disappointing. And I'm running a very well configured desktop gaming rig. In a world where games have Dolby audio tracks and game developers put so much effort into sound design, a headset can make or break the atmosphere of a game.
I really think long and hard before leaving poor reviews, but I would not recommend the Alienware AW310 headset. They are not worthy of the Alienware name. To wear, they feel very good and very well made (which is why I didn't get them 1 star) but looks aren't everything.

Dell Alienware AW310H Wired Stereo Gaming Headset
Covers all the bases at a nice price point…
These caught my eye because they seemed to cover all the bases at a very nice price point. I have always associated Alienware with good performance and more of the “high end” of the pricing for technology carrying that brand name. This headset was used on a gaming PC including a lot of chatting on Discord (which is mentioned in the product description).
It is always possible to spend more on audio and gaming accessories, so I decided to try backing off of the price and looking for a good basic set of gaming earmuffs that was comfortable, had full sound, and good microphone placement. This set seems to check all the boxes very nicely and also leaves some cash in the pockets.
These are very comfortable over the ears with good cushioning on the headband. The fit adjusts easily and then stays put once you get it dialed in. No problem wearing these for extended periods, and the material keeps the area around my ears cool.
Discord is used very frequently, and voices are clear coming in, and reported to be clear going out. Having the flexible microphone boom is a plus for me to get the mic exactly where I want it. When not being used, the microphone can be moved up and out of the way – but I don’t find that necessary very often.
Sound quality during gaming is just as good as some more expensive headsets that I have used. Alienware promotes their “Immersive Audio” and this works very well during gaming to pinpoint location and distance for sounds.
Overall, there are always more expensive models with more features, but these do what headphones are supposed to do, are comfortable, and have a very nice price.
Greetings from Central Georgia!

Not what I expect from a gaming headset

I don't like this headset.
It feels heavy on my head and uncomfortable on top, although the earcups are fine.
Plugging it into the computer gave no sound. Jiggling the cord around the jacks gave it sound from one earcup, but it took some more tugging and jiggling to finally get them both to give sound. Not a good way to start.
The sound is very basic. The volume is low even with your settings turned all the way up. And where's the bass? Not in this headset! Maybe it's hidden in "Area 51".
Trying to hear if your enemy is near? Forget about it. Which way they are coming from? Nope
Best way to hear anything from them is holding both cups close to your ears, still not great and you sure can't get your game on that way.
Microphone is okay, not great but works. Retracts well, and I do like the in-line volume control with a red tip to verify mute on/off.
Just need a headset for phone calls or watching videos alone, this will work. You need a better quality headset for gaming.
I expected much better than this headset from Alienware. Very disappointing.

The main reason I got these was to have a headset that is not USB. I was not impressed though with how these performed.
The mic is nice that you can push it into the headset to be out of the way. I prefer that you can lift the mic up out of the way and have it mute when you do so. These do not. You do have an inline mute/volume button, but no clip to clip to shirt.
The sound was nothing special.
They are very comfortable though. I like how they look as well. The cord is not braided but is plenty long. If you need to have the sound and mic separate, they do come with a splitter to do so.
My main use for these is to use with my laptop so that I don't have to use up any USB ports as my laptop is limited on ports. I also use them with a mixer board as that needs a 3.5mm headset.
As far as price range, they are not so bad of a headset compared to others in the same range. So, if you are looking for a headset that is wired and is a 3.5mm jack instead of USB then this works well. But I would suggest saving to get a better headset.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
