It Performed better than I thought it would! Only thing this is missing is some better mouse feet, but it has become part of my collection next to the Logitech's and Finalmice that I have. Feels nice in my hand, and I love that it is ambi. The price range is a little high for it, but other than that, really impressed with the mouse.

The mouse itself glides smoothly and works well with either usb cable , usb dongle or Bluetooth. The magnetic quick connection is very clever and makes it easy to charge and use at the same time as well. I use it with 2 PCs , one Bluetooth and one with the usb receiver and switching between them is easy. I just wish the design was the same as the AW610M I have because that one feels much better in the hand.

Solid mouse so far. I’ve had it for around a week. No complaints. I typically only use it in wired setup. The RGB works nicely with the native Alienware software on my laptop. A+ hardware

KEY FEATURES 26k DPI Resolution Customizable Buttons No Overdone LED lighting effects I have gaming mice from nearly every manufacturer. The manufacturers include: Razer, Corsair, Logitech, Roccat, Steel, and Microsoft. Much like a car or truck, peoples’ opinions vary widely and differently and what one likes, the other may not. Designing a mouse to appeal to a wide variety of folks can be a challenge. Did Alienware do it correctly? The short answer is: Hardware-wise: Yes, Software: No. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS Hardware-wise, Dell aka Alienware, knocked it out of the park. The mouse has a nearly perfect weight for me and a very nice design. Unlike my G303 Shroud, the Alienware’s curves are comfortable and the buttons all line up perfectly for my average sized hands. I especially appreciate the actual physical buttons and switches on the bottom of the mouse. So many manufacturers are trying to eliminate buttons and switches, it is refreshing to know that I can set the mouse exactly how I like it (as far as DPI and transmission mode) without relying upon button programming and the manufacturer’s software. The bottom of the Alienware has dedicated switches for power, DPI resolution, and wireless connection method. Simple, effective, intuitive. Thanks, Alienware! Speaking of connection method, this tri-mode gaming mouse has what I consider the single, most important, must have feature for any mouse. The ability to work via wired, Bluetooth, or wireless 2.4G. The AW720 checks all my boxes. It can use Bluetooth 5.1, thereby saving battery life, you can use the included USB-C wireless dongle for ultra-fast, low latency response times in gaming, or if you are running out of juice, you can just plug it in via the included USB-C cable. I’ve concluded, that if a mouse, gaming or otherwise, doesn’t have these 3 communication methods built-in, it is instantly stricken from my list of consideration. Being a frequent traveler, I don’t want to have to pull out my wireless receiver to use a mouse. Those receivers are often so small and if you lose it, it renders a mouse useless. USE As I stated above, the AW720 has an awesome weight and feel. It is light and comfortable. It is not near as heavy as my Corsair Dark Core Pro, but more in line with my Razer, Roccat, and Logitech Shroud. The Alienware supports some VERY impressive specs. According to Dell, the AW720 supports a sensor resolution of up to 26k DPI, up to 140 hours of gaming using the 2.4G receiver and mind boggling 420 hours of battery life via the Bluetooth connection!!! Wow! Impressive. Even more, should you need a charge, you can get up to 20 hours of extra juice with only 5 minutes of charge. Excellent work Alienware. NEGATIVES Software and firmware. Ugh. What a debacle this thing is. I was able to connect the mouse initially via Bluetooth with little to no issue. Everything was going smoothly. So, I tried the included USB-C cable. Everything worked as expected. But I hate having a tethered mouse, and I was ready to try a few games. I plugged in the wireless dongle and after several frustrating attempts, the mouse paired to the receiver, and all was good. But my laptop only has 1 USB-C connection. So, I tried the USB-C splitter, giving me a place for my 2.4 receiver and an extra USB-C port. Problem solved? Nope. That when everything went downhill. My laptop lost its connection to the mouse. I unplugged the adapter, oh wait, its magnetic. The USB-C connector is just barely long enough to fit in my laptop. So, Alienware includes a metal “gripper” to put around the connector. But it makes the connector stick out too far and doesn’t allow for a secure connection. So, I ditched everything and went back to a wired connection, and everything started working again. My next thought; firmware update. So, I headed to the Dell website and sure enough, there were 2 firmware updates listed, one for the mouse, and one for the receiver. After downloading them and following the instructions, I hoped it solve my problems. Did it? Nope. 2.4 mode still didn’t work. So back to the Dell support site I went. Ah, the Alienware Control Center, I must need that to control the mouse. After installation, my computer, nor the Alienware app recognized the mouse. Not even with it plugged directly into the PC. Back to the Dell support site for a 4th time. Yet another file is available that must be installed to get the PC and the Alienware software to recognize the mouse. Ugh. What a joke. But at least I have it working now. Right? Nope. As soon as I launched the Alienware Control Center, it told me I needed 2 mandatory updates for the mouse and receiver. The same 2 I just updated less than 10 minutes earlier. Seems the firmware updates on the Dell support site did nothing. After nearly 30 minutes of troubleshooting, downloading, updating, flashing, I am happy to report that the mouse now works properly now matter which connection method I use, and the receiver now works whether its plugged directly into the laptop or into the splitter. FINALLY. The Alienware Control Center (AWCC) lies my next negative. As much as I dislike software to control peripherals, some companies offer a ton of features and options for their devices. Anyone that has used the Razer Synapse software, Corsair iCue, or Logitech G-Hub knows how you can fine tune nearly any and every aspect of the peripheral attached. There are so many parameters in some of these that it makes you nauseated. The AWCC is half-baked, at least half baked for this mouse anyway. Selecting certain features, disables other options, etc. For example, I like to dim the lighting on the mouse. I don’t need a glaring LED light show on my mice, so I like to lower the brightness & conserve battery. Great. My choice. However, if I select my desired illumination theme, I can’t adjust the brightness, nor can I use the mouse as a temperature gauge showing me the current temp of my CPU like I can with my Corsair products. These are just two of my frustrations with the Alienware software. The AWCC feels like a beta software. MY THOUGHTS & CONCLUSIONS I really want to like the Alienware AW720 mouse. The hardware seems to be first rate. The mouse has a great feel, excellent ergonomics, and the best battery life I’ve seen to date in a gaming mouse. I love the fact that Dell has shown great restraint in not blowing the mouse up with unnecessary and tacky RGB lighting. The glowing Alienware logo is just the right amount of RGB. The mouse tracks true and consistent, glides easily on all my mouse pads, and even after long gaming or working sessions, does not make my hand and arm feel tired. I have no issue giving the Alienware hardware a 5-star rating. However, the initial device setup and Dell support site stinks. It took me longer just troubleshoot this mouse and get the bugs worked out than it did to set up ALL my other gaming mice combined. In this day and age, that is totally unacceptable. Like I stated earlier, I have a lot of experience with the competitions’ products. Not a single other manufacturers' software failed to recognize their device. Not a single manufacturer put out firmware update files that didn’t update firmware. Not a single manufacturer makes you manually install a separate file and program to get its own program to work correctly with its peripheral. I give the overall setup, configuration, and software a 2-star rating. I’ll be generous and give this product a 4-star rating. I really do like the mouse. It is enjoyable to use and checks all my necessary boxes for connections. It is a shame that Dell / Alienware has not included a USB-C to USB-A adapter with the product. My laptop has 4 USB-A ports and only 1 USB-C. While they do include a small splitter / hub, it isn’t very robust and the half-hearted metal gripper (it looks like the metal levers on a binder clip) doesn’t work right for me and that is on one of Dell’s own laptops. While I’m giving it a 4-star rating, I CANNOT recommend the product at this time. Once Dell is able to work out the kinks in the software, which I’m sure they will, I’d be willing to change my review, but as it stands now, there are too many other products that do the same, without the frustrations. NOT RECOMMENDED.

I never cared too much about my mouse, as long as it worked. Last year I decided to treat myself to a Razer Basilsk Hyperspeed, which was much better than my $20 Logitech, but after a year of use, didn’t feel so great. I tried another Razer, the Viper, and was very let down that it wasn’t Bluetooth. I then went for the Alienware and was blown away. Fit and finish is as nice as the Razer but the mouse buttons feel much higher quality. Smoother in the hand and more premium in every way. Lighting is easy to set on my Alienware system. Well worth the price.

I have to hand it to Alienware with this Tri-mode AW720M mouse - it's the third new mouse I've used in the last month, and the last two were actually really cool in their own right. However, Alienware has delivered an extremely thoughtful, versatile, well executed mouse that has a ton to offer for gamers and also for those of us who have to contend with office work in between gaming sessions. As far as gaming prowess, the Alienware AW720M checks the normal boxes - at 89g it's not incredibly lightweight, but it's not heavy either. The sensor is a 26k DPI sensor and it has software-less adjustability for that DPI via a button on the bottom of the mouse next to the sensor. It's got a very understated aesthetic (other than the Alien logo, this thing looks 'normal'). The RGB lighting and other settings are controlled with the Alienware Command Center app, which may already be installed on your Dell G series or Alienware computer, and as such it integrates with the Alien FX lighting profiles you may have created there. Ergonomics are interesting. This is a pretty small mouse. I use both claw and fingertip grip so mouse size doesn't matter to me much. The AW720M has these ridges on the outside edge of the smooth plastic buttons that keep your fingers centered and give you some extra lateral purchase on the mouse if you use a fingertip grip. What really blew me away with the Alienware Tri-mode mouse was the incredible execution of the "Tri-mode" capability. You get wired mode via USB-C, wireless with a low latency 2.4ghz dongle, or wireless via Bluetooth. Most of the mice I've used have been highly specialized - either fully wired, or with perhaps two modes (either 'gaming grade' 2.4g + bluetooth, or 2.4g + wired) - never all three. Not only does Alienware combine all three in this mouse, they do it REALLY, REALLY WELL! Included in the package is a magnetic quick disconnect USB-C tip along with a splitter that allows you to keep the longer USB-A to USB-C cable plugged into your PC all the time, connected to one port of the splitter. The other port of the splitter connects your 2.4g low latency wireless dongle. On the other side of the splitter is the magnetic port for the quick disconnect USB-C tip, which you leave in your mouse. What all this means is that you can leave a fairly compact little wireless transmitter connected to the end of the USB cord, which is connected to your PC all the time. Then when you need to charge the mouse (only every 140 hours or so), you can slide the cable up your desk and it snaps into place on the tip which you can leave in the charging port on the mouse itself. It's ingenious. Seriously, it's really amazing how well it works. I keep geeking myself out on it, and I immediately shared some videos of it with friends on discord. You can also game with the mouse charging using the magnetic connection, it's a pretty strong hold, although it does add some weight that can throw you off. Bluetooth is easy to pair with your work PC for work from home desk sharing scenarios. You can essentially use the mouse like a 3 device KVM - one connection wired, the 2.4ghz dongle plugged into another PC, and a third paired via bluetooth. Really, really awesome! I tried to capture some pictures of the USB quick disconnect tip/splitter to include with this review, because while I have read about this feature online, I didn't really understand what anyone was talking about until I saw it for myself.

Great mouse have had for almost a year smooth movement and very durable

A nice looking minimal wireless mouse that matches the Dell R15 white case. I originally had the mouse dongle on the back of my computer but was experiencing delays with the initial mouse response. When I moved the dongle to the front usb C connection on the PC the response was immediate, and the issue was fixed. Very happy with the mouse performance.

What’s a gaming mouse for? It needs to be responsive, display pretty colors, and be comfortable for long term use. It’s helpful if it’s also wireless and has programmable buttons. It’s essential that it be built well to hold up for long term, everyday usage. Alienware is known for their gaming systems. This mouse is a move to complement their systems both aesthetically and functionally. One nice piece is that the same Command Center software will work with both. That saves a large download if you already have an Alienware system. Colors will also then be coordinated. The mouse will also work with other vendors. Usability: Either way, I found the mouse to be very responsive, especially in high DPI modes. I used it with the included cable, with the 2.4Ghz USB-C mini dongle, and with Bluetooth. In all cases, the mouse worked well, connected to my laptop quickly, and felt comfortable. Programming must be done through the Alienware command center. The main elements to be programmed are the colors and macros to be assigned to buttons. Unlike my work mouse (a Logitech MX Master), the buttons and wheel have only default Windows supported behavior. Clicking the scroll wheel brings up a scroll lock mode which allows for constant scrolling based on how far the mouse cursor is from the cross hairs. Tilting the wheel gives the same thing, but only while the wheel is engaged. Both modes are useful for scrolling vertically or horizontally through documents or spreadsheets so you can use the same mouse for all your needs. Comfort: The mouse has nice finger grooves which keep your fingers well positioned for clicking and moving. The texture on the bottom gives grip for your thumb and other fingers on the far side of the mouse. Buttons on each side are large and easy to access. Unfortunately, only the buttons on the left side can be used out of the box. The right side buttons can only be used to assign macros. While it’s otherwise an ambidextrous mouse, the current software prevents it from being all it could be. Setup: Setup was easy, especially the bluetooth. I only needed to put it in pairing mode and the laptop recognized it right away. Using it with the dongle and the wire are easy as well. The wire is very flexible and doesn’t get in the way of any movement. One note: While the dongle and charging port are both USB-C connectors, the other end of the wire is USB-A. This means your machine MUST have a USB-A port in order to update firmware or configure the mouse. There’s a USB-C joiner plug in the package which can be used to host the 2.4Ghz receiver if you don’t have a USB-C port on your machine. Overall: My overall impression is of a high quality mouse that will last for a long time. The sensitivity is superb both on a desk and on a mouse pad. This is ultimately what you’re paying for. That said, there are other mice from Logitech and Razor which may be a better value and provide similar options. This is unique in having a USB-C dongle which may have value for newer laptops which are leaving out the older style port. Even in those cases, Bluetooth provides the connectivity needed. Get this if you have an Alienware machine and want the color coordination. Otherwise, look for the best price.

I have been using this mouse for about a week and really fell in love with it!  Fits in the hand phenomenally for me, very comfortable.  The two main click buttons are solid and responsive and execute the action easily and with minimal input due to the long footprint on the top of the unit.  I can almost just think about the action and a slight movement of my fingers makes it happen effortlessly! A nice audible click confirms it.  The wheel is nice and has an industrial look to it. There are additional 2 buttons on either side for a total of four.  Solid rubber tread wheel that does not slip and tracks on point! Four buttons are programmable in the alien software for the macros you create.  Macros are a little tricky at first if you are not used to Alienware but easy to figure out. I really like the way this looks as well.  Really beautiful and sleek and the ever present alien RGB head is really cool!   You can program the color of that as well in the Alienware software.    Clicks perfect, feels perfect, got all the high end boxes checked with a mouse you would expect in this caliber but the one thing that really plusses this up for me is the forethought they put into the connection and accessories they put with it!   It comes with a braided USB cable and an adapter set that can turn your mouse into a magnetic charging cable device or you can just plug in the cable and run it that way or 2.4ghz or my favorite Bluetooth for the convenience. So versatile!!!! Just an awesome gaming mouse that really locks my gaming into overdrive.  If you are looking for that slight edge in your gaming arsenal...this is it for sure.  Highly recommend!

This thing goes so great with my Alienware pc. I just wanted to get that out of the way. The mouse is the perfect size for gaming and doing serious editing. The box comees with the 720M wireless mouse , a very comfortably long braided connector cable, a really cool dongle case comprised of type C dongle and magnetic mouse dongle. All chargeble using the dongle adapter. It's really cool. The mouse has RGB lighting, somethng many PC gamers have been waiting for. The light pattern on the mouse's alien head, can be adjusted using the Alienware Command Center or through Alienware software for other PCs. The DPI can be adjusted in this same command center as well. And woo mama, this thing has crazy DPI. Up to 26000. That's insane The battery life for 720M is very nice, so long gaming sessions are a go. Plus it has magnetic snap fast charging. Playing God of War and Scarlet Nexus is smooth and responsive, as I'm able to program different pronfiles that will switch depending on what game or job I'm doing. The 720M that i have is the black, though the lunar white would've gone perfectly with my PC. Not to mention, it''s very affordable. I have to make sure that is noted. So I'm happy to recommend the AW720M Tri-Mode wireless gaming mouse to all of my gamer friends and family. Put in your cart.

Best buy totally sent me the wrong accessories, then I chatted with them for a while and they couldn't do anything. As you can see from my picture, they sent the dongle with 920h, instead of 720m. So I'm screwed, cool.

Great gaming mouse, came very well packed and all its accessories in a nice little plastic box inside the main box. Included was also a large and very soft USB cable, braided, kind of in a fabric material (USB type C to A). It took a little to figure out how to use it as it has some nice accessories in the above mentioned plastic box (a little wireless dongle, and magnetic charging adapter to type C usb and a Y type adapter 2-1). The way you do, is use the Y adapter to plug the wireless 2.4 Ghz receiver and the large USB cable on one end, then on the other end there will be some magnets, which easily attach to the little magnetic type C USB male adapter that goes on the mouse. So any time you want to charge it, you just clip that magnetic adapter to the Y one and it will start charging the mouse. First time I see this concoction, but its effective and fast for when you want to charge the mouse. Now, the mouse has 4 side buttons (two on each side) positioned symmetrically plus the main two ones (very clicky and sturdy feel), these are symmetrical to, so because of this, it can be considered an ambidextrous mouse (great for people that are lefties). There is an "alien" RGB logo around the area of the palm and it's not that large or on your face (if RGB lighting bothers you, but is fine for me). The mouse is super responsive and accurate (26000 DPI!!) and you can download Alienware's command center to further customize it. The main buttons feel super sturdy and a great tactile clicky feel (almost like a mechanical keyboard switch), maybe it's me that feels them that way, because my previous mouse was so mushy. The mouse wheel feels great too and very responsive. I can't say its made me a better gamer, but I can really feel when I'm clicking it and has never failed me. I highly recommend this mouse, and specially if you are a leftie and looking for a good mouse (I know most mouses are designed for right handed peeps, but this one is for both, not an easy find!).

The AW720M is and has been perfection in my palm. The mouse is designed to accommodate all hand sizes and preferences. I'm a right handed with long fingers. It was extremely comfortable to hold and to use even for hours at a time. I used gaming mice with weighted systems, but the AW720M doesn't really need any adjustment. It's light enough to glide seamlessly across my mouse pad, but heavy/firm enough to not feel cheap. Having all connectivity options available is a major plus when it comes to using this product. Being tied to a dongle doesn't bother me much, but it is helpful to know that I can rely on a Bluetooth connection when other parts are occupied. Dell made it convenient to house all additional accessories in a compact case for easy transport. My complaint is that the dongle is only USB C. If a separate USB A dongle or USB C-to-USB A adapter was included then I would be 100% satisfied with my options. Yet, everything included is sufficient enough. The mouse performs completely is expected. I get fast and immediate reaction from the mouse during gameplay, and my macros execute without issue. The RGB on the mouse is nice, but I did wish the mouse had more lightning to give it more pop. What has impressed me the most is the battery life which holds up tremendously well. I maintained well into the 95%+ range even after very high usage. I'm not saying that this mouse is perfect, but it is pretty close to being perfect for the gamer and the average consumer. Overall, it's a high quality product in the look & feel department, but performs wonderfully for me as a gamer. The AW720M is a true winner.

Having used the Alienware AW720M now for over a week, I’ve come to appreciate all its features and quirks. It feels good in the hand and has an exceptional finish. The design is well done, sleek and stylish – keeping a noticeable but not too overstated gamer aesthetic. In the box you’ll find some interesting accessories. You’ll get a USB-C cable, a USB-C extender/mini-hub, a USB-C 2.4Ghz wireless adapter, an interesting magnetic quick disconnect adapter and a removal tool. The magnetic adapter for the mouse is pretty small – using the removal tool makes the process much easier. In general, I find the whole construction interest but a little over engineered and unnecessary. I’m sure attitudes very – you may find the setup convenient, I find it a little unwieldy. I’ve used several different shapes and brands of mice over the years. There is something special about the construction – I suppose unsurprisingly – that feels familiar and high end. I don’t know if it’s the smooth finish, grippy sides or classic shape. Regardless, I love the way it sits in my hand and glides like it’s on glass. Keep in mind that there are tons of features packed into this tri-mode gaming mouse and ends up sitting in the middle to high end of the weight spectrum at 89 grams. I’ve been really impressed with battery life. On a full charge I’ve been able to get a full week of constant use have yet to need a charge. Alienware says estimates about 140 hours on 2.4Ghz or 400+ hours on Bluetooth. Pretty impressive!

The Alienware Tri-mode mouse is both unique and comfortable. It handles like a dream, easily gliding across my desktop. I have no complaints whatsoever with its performance. Setting it up was a little tricky. First, it took several driver installs, reinstalls, and reboots for the Alienware Command Center to recognize the mouse. Second, you can only adjust the lighting effects and button functions while in 2.4 ghz, dongle, mode. You can’t access any of these functions while connected via Bluetooth. The lighting seems to persist when you switch between modes, but my macro keys didn’t seem to carry over from dongle to Bluetooth mode. The mouse is designed to be ambidextrous. It’s shaped so that it fits the hand the same way no matter which hand you use. The side buttons are also positioned on both sides. I like how the side buttons are slightly separated with a small gap between them. This makes it easier to differentiate them by touch. The charging cable is one of the most unique things I’ve ever seen. First, the cable has an optional magnetic adapter that plugs into your mouse. This connects quite securely, but it pulls free easily when you want it to. And second, the other half of the cable’s magnetic adapter (the part that attaches to the cable) has a 2nd USB-C slot for storing the dongle on it. This is kinda cool (but a little weird). The dongle, magnetic adapter parts, and a tool for removing the adapter from the mouse all come in a little plastic case that doesn’t open the way that you’d expect it to (pry up on the plastic lip that sits closest to the edge of the box). It should be noted that the 2.4 ghz dongle is USB-C only. The cable is a nice length and is braided with a soft, fabric material. I really quite like this mouse, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a premium gaming mouse.
