Great wireless mic for iPhone/iPad videos

This Aluratek microphone has been just the added item I need for my video blogs. Whether I am creating videos for social media or for friends, my audio is sounding much better now.
The wireless vlogging lapel mic is simple to use and truly plug/play with the lightning connector. No need to connect via Settings & Bluetooth, as it simply syncs with a 2.4Ghz wireless connection as soon as it's plugged in. I have been using this for my social content videos and usually am tethered to a wired lapel mic. This new Aluratek wireless vlogging lapel mic makes me more mobile and gives me the freedom to move on my videos. I also don't need to worry about the visual of having a wire off camera when I'm recording my video content. The wireless look of the lapel mic is compact, and easy to hide or blend in with your clothing.
I have been pleased with the audio quality as it picks up my voice clearly and the video does not have any delay or lag to the audio sync with my mouth moving. I think this will be helpful for me in my fitness, cooking, or instructional style videos. I can be hands-free and move away from my camera without worrying about sounding further away. Another point that I really like is the budget-friendly value of this for my needs.
The charging case that comes with this is nice but could use some additional advances. The charging case can be charged via USB-C from the bottom of the case. Inside the case, you can house the wireless receiver and the lapel mic. The wireless receiver also has a lightning connector port on it so I can charge my phone while my iPhone's port is being occupied by the wireless receiver. The case itself is compact and small. The lid on my case is sort of loose so I wish it had a better quality tension to the open/close function. I had hoped the charging case could be used with Qi charging, but it is not meant for that.
One thing to note is that if you have a case on your phone you may have issues with connecting the receiver to your iPhone's lightning port properly. I am using an Otterbox Symmetry case and the plug doesn't always connect securely with the Aluratek adapter. When I'm using my iPhone without the case I have no problems connecting.
PRO:
Excellent for VLOG content
Easy plug/play setup
Can charge phone while still using wireless connector
Clear audio
Freedom to move away from phone during videos
CON:
Loose lid on charging case
May have an issue connecting if iPhone has a case on it

True Gamechanger for Social Media

--- SETUP ---
This lightning lapel microphone is easy to set up. No installation of an app is required to your iPhone. It’s a simple plug and play device.
--- FEATURES ---
Wireless mic, iPhone lightning connector, no app download required, up to 60 ft. of recording distance, charging case.
--- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS ---
This lapel mic is a wonderful tool to use as a blogger. I have an instagram account strictly for my salsa and bachata followers. As a dance instructor, it is important to post videos in which I am explaining the moves. Viewers can best learn moves when they are facing the same direction as the instructor. This means that I have to give my back to the camera and speak away from the phone. With this wireless lapel microphone, I can turn around and continue talking while my viewers can listen to my instructions as if I was facing them. Additionally, because there are no wires or cables to deal with, I can turn and spin as much as I want to without worrying about tangling myself up or having a cable become unplugged. It gives me the freedom to move as far away as 60 feet, which is something I might have to do if someone is recording me while I am on a performance stage. It really is a gamechanger for dance instructors.
The lapel microphone and iPhone receiver can be stored in a case that doubles as a charging device. It can be charged a total of 6 times on a full charge. The charging case itself can be charged with a USB-C cable that is included. Upon storing the mic and receiver, the devices begin to charge until next use. Additionally, when you are using the receiver, you can be charging your phone at the same time as well. If there was something I would want to improve on this device is to allow the receiver to have an auxiliary port so that we could capture audio and use the headphones to monitor the sound picked up by the mic. Regardless of this, it is a great product!
Things to note: This lapel microphone won’t double as a phone call microphone or online chatting microphone. The mic is on a 2.4GHz frequency and is only compatible with iPhone lightning ports, not the USB-C port from the newer iPads.
--- VALUE ---
This lapel mic is priced just right for any blogger, instructor, or social media enthusiast. You’ll find the value immediately after your first use.
--- APPROVAL ---
I highly recommend this wireless lapel microphone for social media enthusiasts who want to take their production to the next level. This is especially true if your presence online requires you to be away from your phone.

Handy and Quick Connect Wireless Lapel Mic for iOS

The Aluratek Wireless Vlogging Lapel Mic is exactly what I needed for recording my YouTube videos. Until I got this mic, I was using a wired clip-on mic with 30 feet of cable and all the difficulties that come with it. The Aluratek Mic is a breeze in comparison.
I'm impressed with how easy it is to use. No additional software or Bluetooth configuration is needed. Just plug the receiver into the iPhone/iPad then hold down the mullti-function button on the mic for three seconds. The LED light on the mic will turn green when it is connected.
The quality of the sound is sufficient for recording. It lacks some of the lower base tones that the iPhone mic has, but that can be easily adjusted in the video editing process. However, the three noise reduction levels is great for blocking out hum of computers or background road noise, which is something I didn't have with my wired mic. I love that the receiver has a pass-through port. I can continue to charge my iPhone while using the receiver.
My only slight complaint is with the placement of the charging port and LED on the bottom of the charging case. My preference would be in the lower back of the case for the charging port and the front of the case for the LED.
I highly recommend the Aluratek Lapel Mic for audio and video recording. The ease of being able to plug in and start recording in seconds is a great improvement over having to uncoil cabling. While the quality of the mic cannot match the quality of desktop or studio mics, the portability and noise reduction makes this a great solution for out of the office recording.
Features
• Portable charging case
• Lightning connector on the receiver
• Easy to wirelessly connect with a 3 second button hold
• Windproof mic screen
• LED indicator on the mic, receiver, and charging case.
• Charging case is fully charged in two hours
• Pass-through Lightning port on the receiver
• Three noise reduction settings
• Easy power on/off, mute, and noise reduction with the mic multi-function button
• Does not require software or Bluetooth configuration
• Mic and receiver automatically recharge in the case

This is the ideal item to have in your bag if you are capturing/sending any dialogue on a regular basis. It’s compact, extremely easy to use, and doesn’t even need an app to operate.
I have a silicone case on the iPhone 13 Pro I used to test this with. The receiver fits snuggly into the lightning port with that case in place. It’s nice to have it fit that snug when mounted on a tripod as you can still connect a lightning cable to the receiver to allow the phone to charge while in use. That said, this may not fit in all the way if you have a bulky case on your phone.
As good as the microphone is on my phone, it doesn’t follow you around if you’re filming or presenting and can lead to awkward sound issues. Having the ability to capture audio away from the direction of your filming provides a lot more freedom to move around and still capture the moment. And you don’t have to carry around another phone or the phone you are trying to record with to get it.
Excellent item, good quality, works out of the box with zero issues, highly recommended.

It’s going to be hard to beat the Aluratek for ease of use for anyone looking for a mic to use when blogging or broadcasting!
While I’m not a blogger or a big TikToker - I host broadcast remote site events for work and I recently had an all-hands meeting that required multiple camera setups. Adjacent presenters didn’t need to be controlling any shared presentation - I just needed them on camera and for them to sound good. I was able to easily set them up in front of my iPhone, joined the Zoom meeting and adjusted the position of the camera. For sound I clipped the Aluratek mic on the button of the presenters shirt and plugged the receiver into the lighting port. Set-up couldn’t have been easier and I love how much more compact it was than other devices I’ve tried and had to lug around in the past. Audio sounded clear and some might argue that it sounded better than the main presenter sitting in front of a $200+ audio set-up.
If you’re looking for an easy-to-use plug-and-play microphone that you can use when broadcasting or recording TikTok videos….look no further!

Great product, it does its job. But sometimes the audio is a little cloudy if the microphone isn't directly near your mouth. If you're using this, just make sure to have it on your neckline somewhere that's directional to your mouth. I had it on my side and the audio was a little wonky.

Simple setup. Easy charging. Quality sound reproduction.
The Aluratek microphone's receiver plugs into the iPad 'lightning port'. No setup required. The receiver gets its power from the lightning port. The small lapel microphone transmits via 2.4Ghz Wireless so pairing is not required.
The charging case is dual purpose. It safely stores the microphone and transmitter, but also allows the microphone to be recharged on the go as it contains its own internal battery. Perfect for topping off the microphone's internal battery.
One button operation. Long press turns the mic on or off. Three (3) levels of noise reduction via a quick press with visual indication from the green LED flash. Helps deaden wind and ambient sounds when outdoors. This is helpful as I use my iPad and iPhone to add voice notes to my photos via the camera video app. No special software required.
I record health and safety training videos, so this mic setup will be great for training classes. Especially since I need to move about the class room or factory. The lapel mic is small and non obtrusive. The LED glows green so I know its on. I can mute it via a double tap, which blinks the green LED for confirmation its muted.
Great noise reduction and sound quality in a very compact format. Perfect for live chats, vlogging, etc.

Best wireless mic

Absolutely perfect.
The design, to me is flawless. Almost worth changing your phone so that it is compatible.
Have you ever been videoing and then after you’re done you realize that none of your audio is worth using. The frustrating part for me is, I actually like what I was saying. Now I have to do a voice over, which is an issue within itself.
The install took less than one minute. I looked over the instructions and immediately understood how this wireless mic worked.
Plugged it in to the bottom of my phone….
Held the button on the side of the wireless mic….
Light turned green….
And started recording. Worked perfectly.
I had on a gym outfit and my clothing was a little tight but I was still able to fit the mic on the side of my shirt and or the middle of my shirt.
This mic is a great entry way to get sound to my of the video you are recording. It isn’t noise cancelling, so you will be able to hear other things around you but the main focus of sound will be your voice.
Great product.

Good all-around microphone setup

Verdict: Good overall microphone package that will be useful to vloggers. It fulfills some of my recording requirements. With some improvements, it would be perfect.
Use case. I record YouTube videos for a channel that has several thousands of subscribers. I move around in the videos so my previous setup was to use a microphone overhead. The drawback from my previous setup is that the mic picked up a lot of background noise and didn’t capture my voice consistently as I moved.
First impressions. I love that the entire package is in one small case. It is easy to carry and quick to setup. It requires no software download or setup on the phone. It just works by plugging the lightning adapter and by turning on the wireless lapel mic.
Sound quality. As expected, this microphone can’t compete with a full-size professional microphone I use for voiceovers. However, for on-the-go usage and for capturing voice when moving around, this is a great little microphone. The microphone does a good job at picking up my voice, but the sound of my voice on the recording does sounds flatter and slightly more metallic. The microphone does a wonderful job at minimizing background noise.
Things I like:
- Nice compact all-in-one package
- Very convenient storage case that charges the lapel mic
- Excellent at minimizing background noise
- Quick setup and starts recording in seconds (but don’t forget to press the power button!)
- Wireless mic
- Great price
Things I don’t like:
- The lightning adapter should have a longer extension to ensure compatibility with more phone cases. As designed, the lightning connector does not fully fit in the lightning port of my iPhone because the case I am using on my phone is a little too thick. Of note, I do not think that my phone case is unusually thick; it provides just the right amount of protection for a phone. The adapter does work on with my wife’s phone case, which is on the thinner side. Unless I change my phone case, this is not a tool I would be able to use quickly. To maximize compatibility, I would recommend making the lighting extension slightly longer. This is the primary reason for removing one star.
- The mic should automatically turn on when removed from the case. This is the typical behavior for earphones now. On one occasion, I removed the lapel and wireless adapter from the case to use them, and started talking for a while, and then realized that nothing was recording because I forgot to press the “on” button for 3 seconds. Automatic turn-on of the mic would make for faster and smoother on-the-go use of the wireless mic
-The voice recording sounds a little flat and metallic instead of full and rich
- Wireless charging of the case would be nice to have, but not a big deal
- While I appreciate the use of USB-C over Micro-USB on the charging case, I think I would have preferred a lightning charging port. Since this is an accessory for Apple devices that use lightning ports, it seems more logical to rely on charging cables that are readily accessible with the other devices being used
- The mic is quite thick, so it will be noticeable on camera. This is not an issue for me, but it could be for someone else that doesn’t want a noticeable black mic on camera.
Overall, this is a good microphone setup. It works well for rapid setup and use while moving around. It is not perfect, and it will not fulfill all microphone requirements you may have, but it works well and will certainly be appreciated by the majority of vloggers.

This is regarding my new Aluratek Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone. I like it alot, it's convenient and easy to use. Recording is so much easier and the audio quality is great. What a great difference it is making for my YouTube, Tik Tok videos and vlogging. Pairing and syncing is very easy with instructions being very clear. I could have figured it out quickly even without instructions.
I like how it is wireless and easy to use and so simple to set up with my iPhone and Ipad. The clip on the mic is nice, stable and sturdy. It stayed attached to my shirt during multiple sessions, even when using while walking. The audio still worked well while outside and I think the way the mic is made was very helpful even with a little wind outside, the quality was still great. Even though the quality of sound is good, I recommend being careful with this mic to not have too much movement or sound will not be as clear. The charge was good for the whole time I needed to use it and I love that the wireless case recharges the mic which is very convenient. The size is good and small so can easily travel with it when recording or during lives outside of home.
Two suggestions I have, one is to also make it compatible with other products too so more people can access it. My friend loves it and finds it works better than the one he is currently using but he has an Android Galaxy so he had to try it using my iPhone.
My second suggestion which is my only drawback is that I did have to remove my phone case for the receiver to go all the way in. It would be great to update a newer version to not have to remove the case. I love the plug-and-play option but wonder if having an app or Bluetooth connection could possibly replace the receiver and then no need to remove the case.
Having to remove my phone case is very concerning because I have a great case to protect the phone and it makes me nervous to remove the case. For this reason, I cannot give it 5 stars from my personal experience with my phone and case. But if I didn't need to use my phone most times and could just use my Ipad, I would give it 5 stars.

Best lapel microphone for the money. This microphone is very easy to setup. The packaging is easy to open and get the box open. It comes with a case that also charges the microphone, a lightning receiver and cord. I really like the charging case as it does charge the unit when stored inside. This was for an apple product only but I do see they have another one for usb-c devices. I only used this with a iphone 13 pro but I plan on trying to use this with an ipad. The sound is really nice. It states it has an omni-directional microphone that can filter out ambient noise. We have used this with a youtube video as well as a Tik Tok video and the sound is perfect. It takes an amateur recording and makes it sound like you have an audio setup. The microphone once connected has a light on it that turns green when connected to your phone. This system is very easy to use. The case also houses the microphone and the receiver. One item I did notice is with one of my iphones I had a secure case and it was a little hard to plug the receiver into the bottom of the phone. Otherwise that was the only con I could find.

To set a reference point, I am not an avid vlogger or social media creator. To get the opportunity to test the device for a product review even though I was not actively vested spoke volumes to me for the company. Even though they understand who their target audience is, they were confident enough in the unit to allow a foreign opinion. They were not wrong in their assessment that even a general consumer would like it and could find practical uses for the microphone. The Aluratek - Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone is quite simply impressive. I would have posted this review earlier this week, but I had to make a quick business trip from Texas to one of our warehouses in Alabama. I thought this would be a prime environment to truly evaluate the microphone in. Our warehouses do not have monstrous sized machines running in them, but they do have power industrial trucks, huge noisy fans, and other loud ambient decibel producing background noisy factors that I was sure would be a great test for the Aluratek lapel microphone.
My task while there was to collaborate on processes and leave them with anything we might be doing that would improve their efficiency and likewise vice versa. I spent several hours on their floor walking around and making observations. Normally, when walking through the warehouse, I take notes on traditional pen and paper or using the notes app on my iPhone. As you can imagine this poses several adverse safety related factors that we have to be super cautious and mindful about while engaging in them. However, the Aluratek _ Wireless vlogging lapel microphone eliminated this aspect for me. I was able to walk around and through vocalized voice dictation I took notes on what I was seeing. My phone was in my pocket, so my head was up allowing me to be alert and safe while out on the warehouse floor. Then while back in the office, I was able to replay my notes and write down any formal notes or talking points that I had while in the warehouse. The clarity was shocking at times when using the noise reduction features. I was next to a honking horn and almost whispering but the reply was crisp enough that I was able to easily distinguish and decipher my words. For me, this is a big deal. I may have looked like a crazy man walking around talking to myself. Using the wireless microphone allowed me to do something particularly important to me, which is to be safe but also practice safe behaviors as an example to our teams and not as an exception. To be clear, using this as a peripheral device, one could take my story and just change the setting or environment and all these factors for safety are still true advocates for the use of this device.
Take aways:
The battery life is great but because the case charges I never ran it dead and could not tell you how long it actually last
The case, adapter device, and microphone are well built but do not step on them
The absolute best part is the plug and play ability... No apps, no stupid pairing, just plug it in and you are rocking and rolling
The worst part is that lighting adapter. I had to take off my case to use the device. Another reason I left my phone in my pocket :^)
10 out of 10 – I highly recommend for anyone!

Could not wait to try this out when it was released. All I can say is... how did I get along without this in my life.
1. exceptional battery with on single charge. I got many hours of use and after placing it in the case I was able to use multiple times without having to connect to USB cable for charging. it
2. it is small and easy to use. I attached to may shirt and off I was making memories with no looking back. I did not notice it was even there as I was going about my video creation,
3. sound is great and wind (mild) did not even get picked up with the enclosed windscreen. So audio was crisp and static free.
4. receiver is powered by Apple device (lightning port) and even though I have my phone in a slim case, it attached perfectly.
5. open any audio or video app on your device and go for it. I have many that I use and each one was captured in perfect sound, They say that the most important thing in making videos is the audio.
Downsides.
1. although you can seen a charging light when plugged in, you do not know battery level at any point during use or when in case.
2. Lid could be stiffer to avoid it opening easily, I had it flip open many times while packing and unpacking the vlogging setup. Thankfully I did not lose either parts from inside the case, But, it is still a concern.
3. No app to set levels, effects, or get basic device information to maximize the use to the person shooting video.
So with all the positives and negatives, I would still spout the great product this is to all my family and friends, If you have a iphone, ipad or any lightening port device you will love this mic.

I love this lapel mic.
I recently have started to have to do presentations at work during our virtual meetings and typically I would use a stand alone mic and be on my computer, but I’m not always on my computer and have to more recently be using my phone or iPad to conduct these meetings.
So I picked up this mic to use and it has been great everyone has been able to hear me very clearly and easily I have used it a couple of time for videos and the quality sounds great.
I also let my son use it as he likes to make stop motion videos and dub it later and has been using this mic on his iPad and it has made it easier for him.
It’s plug and play very easy to set up and get gong and sounds great. I love that It has a case that’s stores and charges the mic. It uses usb c to charge and it’s a great size to easy to Cary around without taking too much space.
Battery life is very good, I haven’t had any issues and since it’s very easy to charge I tend to just stick on the charger every couple of days. I do wish there was a better way to know how much charge you have. But overall it’s a great small mic
I couldn’t recommend it more.

Don't you love it when things just work? Me too, and this doesn't disappoint. With my new video blog going this is one thing I have been wanting to have for quite some time. Some shots require that my phone is quite far away and in those situations capturing great audio is not only challenging but requires some degree of luck. Also, when shooting various segments at various distances, the sound quality will also be tricky to normalize. Not any more. Just plug in the transmitter and you are ready to shoot.
The small size is easy to manage both on your phone and when clipping the mic on your clothing. Also, I love the convenience of the charging case. It allows for safe storage and a charge when you might not be able to plug in.
As for sound quality it is spot on. Upon playback I found it captured the full range of my voice and was pleasant to listen to.
All in all, especially for this price I think this is a great device for anyone who uses their phone for audio recording whether with or without video. Enjoy and happy creating!

I have been using this mic for awhile now. It’s pretty great. It is super easy to use straight out of the box. You literally just plug in the receiver to the bottom of the device. Then turn on the microphone and bam! It’s automagically connected and ready to go. When I say it steps up your audio game that’s understatement! You get crisp clear sound and from a distance! They say when it comes to video audio is everything and this microphone is worth it. I love using it for when I’m reviewing products and needing to have consistent audio. It’s also great for recording voice memos and instrument demos. It automatically puts uses the audio from the mic without having to select it. The case it comes in is sleek and makes it easy to charge the microphone when not in use. The charger case is USB-C and the receiver that connects the idevice has a USB-C plug for power pass through making it easy to only have to use one cable. Overall I am very happy with this microphone. It has great quality and super simple ease of use.

Finally an affordable microphone solution for content creation! The Aluratek - Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone is such a convenient device to have when on the go. I love how you can package the mic and adapter into the charging case, which is very compact itself. So, you can charge it whenever you're not using it and be ready to go in a moments notice. Not only is it compact, but it is also lightweight, so you can easily carry it with you wherever you go.
The setup is as easy as plugging the adapter in to your phone, switching the lapel mic on, and you are ready to vlog wherever you go. No need to go through your phone settings to make a connection. There is one downside to this and that is that I was not able to connect the adapter due to interference with my Otterbox Commuter series case. A slimmer case may work with the Aluratek - Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone.
Overall, the audio quality is good for an on-the-go microphone. For the price, the Aluratek - Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone is great. It has been a very handy tool to have when I'm out in car shows, or just about any other event.
So, aside from me not being able to connect the adapter with my phone case on, the Aluratek - Wireless Vlogging Lapel Microphone is great. You really can't go wrong for the price and value that you get from it.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The Aluratek wireless vlogging lapel microphone is an excellent product for anyone looking to get into streaming or creating video content and looking for an easy method of getting audio into your content. This is the version of the wireless microphone that uses the lightning port, so it can only be used on iPhones or iPads that still use the lightning port. This is great for anyone who is still using those devices, myself included, but with Apple's recent changes on most of their devices going to thunderbolt or usb-c and the EU's recent legislation on standardizing ports on most devices, this will be less and less useful in the coming years. However, for the time being, this is still extremely useful for anyone that is still using lightning devices, and it is a great product for anyone who is just getting started with video recording and is looking for a lapel style microphone.
The fact that this device doesn't require any specific application to record or ingest audio is amazing and makes it so that you can use whichever application you prefer for recording audio. With the multitude of recording applications available on the iOS store there is a multitude of choices available for recording your audio, including the already included Voice Memos application that comes standard on iPhone and iPad. If you are trying to do live recordings you may have to get creative in how you add the audio depending on what you are trying to record, if you are doing live YouTube or Twitch videos on your phone using their apps then it will work just like any other audio device, but if you need a wireless lapel to record live video on your computer and want to get it into your livestream using your phone then you would need to look at using something like Discord on your phone to capture the audio and to then record the Discord program on your computer and add it into your livestream, you would also need to adjust the audio timing to your video but from a few short test that I tried of doing this it seems very possible if you need a wireless microphone for your livestream. Again, the easiest way would be to just use your phone to record the audio and video for a livestream like that and it would be much easier. In the case of videos that you are creating that don't need to be live then you just take the audio from your phone onto your computer and edit it together with your video and you would edit it just like any other video.
Overall, this is a great product and it does everything it advertises which is to make it very easy to capture audio for content creation, there is no additional application that you have to use, it is completely wireless with great battery life, it offers a way to charge your phone while using it so that you don't have to worry about your phone dying while recording your audio, and it is super easy to setup just by plugging the receiver into your phone and powering on the lapel. I really cannot complain about anything with this device and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and easy way to capture audio with a wireless lapel microphone.
I would recommend this to a friend

For years I’ve been looking for an affordable, high-quality audio, noise-cancelling, no-extra-software nonsense required lav mic that works natively with the iPhone. I got close with a bluetooth setup not too long ago, but it was very fussy.
The ability to directly connect in the same way a USB mic would, without being tethered to a cord or the phone itself, is so valuable. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been stuck trying to get good audio, trying to hide cords, recharge battery packs or porting around tons of batteries… only to have the darn thing not work. I’ve run the gamut of shotgun mics and offset audio and all sorts of techniques but realistically nothing beats a fully-fledged lapel mic.
In testing this, I found the noise cancellation feature was very effective on just default mode - an interview subject about 2-3 feet away was easily heard but surrounding adjacent noise was significantly diminished. Higher levels augmented this and narrowed the range of audible sounds.
The case charges the mic (the lightning attachment needs no charger) and the charge seems to hold for a good while. In between locations you can set it back in the charger for a refresh. The case charges quickly and everything fits in your pocket nicely.
The audio I was able to capture was crisp and clear and made leveraging the cinematic functions of my iPhone camera super easy. I was able to record two separate videos in various environments that would normally have a lot of echo or background noise with minimal audio issues - a few more experiments with the various noise reduction settings would probably yield awesome results.
The only thing I wish is that it had an add-on mic capability. The 360* is nice but I suspect more than a 1:1 interview will be less than optimal.
Long story short: I cannot wait to do walk+talks or interviews with this setup and it’s a huge improvement over the wire-heavy/battery heavy alternatives.

The Aluratek Wireless Vlogging Lapel Mic with a Lightning connector for iPhones is a compact lapel mic, with it's own receiver and charging case. The mic design is nice, it's sleek, unobtrusive and has a sturdy clip on the back to attach to clothing.
The receiver however is flimsy, extremely light and I am really concerned about the longevity of the connector support for the lightning port. It isn't strong and can bend easily when plugged into the iPhone, to the point that it looks like it could snap easily.
Connecting the mic to the receiver is really simple, plug the receiver into the phone, press the button on the mic for 2 seconds and they automatically connect. the 2.4GHz mic/receiver has a 60ft range, and in my experience that was true. I was able to walk around from my phone and not have an issue with connectivity.
Moving on to recording, this is another ding where I have to disagree with the 'professional grade' statement. There are no controls over the mic itself, no accompanying app to control it, so the settings it has, are the settings you get. I record my YouTube videos on my iPhone, and then edit them in InShot. I dub them after the fact using the voice record feature. The Aluratek mic sounds very tinny and doesn't bring out the bass in my voice, unlike the current mic that I have been using (which isn't wireless - and is why I wanted to check out the Aluratek wireless mic).
The sound is somewhat tinny, and a little muffled at times, compared to other mics I've used. This was disappointing, as it felt like it reduced the quality of the final output of the video I was creating.
The noise canceling feature does work, and I was able to block out some of the surrounding noise in my garage as I recorded videos, so that is a nice feature and they have that down. Works great.
Overall, this is a nice little set up, but I wouldn't say it was 'professional grade' (per the marketing speak), handy to have in your vlogging backpack on occasion, but I don't see it being a go-to mic.
