A hunk of junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tablet will not sync with email. Emails that appear on my desk top do not appear on the Kindle.....and visa versa. Additionally, the Kindle servers are programmed intentionally to delete unread emails from time to time in order to conserve server space. This is not something I sucked out of my thumb. The head of the Geek Squad at BB found this out (by consulting the Kindle tech support web site) after I returned the Kindle and told him 6 emails instantaneously disappeared before my very eyes and I never touched the tablet. Truly a P.O.S.

I took this back.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did not like their icons. I prefer to add my own. Also, I did not like to give them a credit card # to get free downloads. Very poor idea.

Too many "gotchas"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My initial evaluation was that this was a really nice tablet for the money, at least for simple browsing, gaming, and books. After 2 days of frustration I returned it and got a Samsung Galaxy Tab E with pretty much the same specs for the same price. The Fire 5.0 OS is very restrictive. 1) You can not change the start screen or the wallpaper 2) You can not download apps from the Google playstore which is clearly the largest online source. You can only use Amazon's app store and they are missing a lot of apps that I use frequently. 3) Every time you wake it up it flashes an ad at you.....I did not buy it to be forced to watch a bunch of useless advertising. 4) The camera takes fuzzy pictures....not terrible, but just not as sharp and detailed as they should be. 5) the software tries very hard to get you to sign up for paid Amazon service. You don't HAVE to but you will not be able to view much in the way of movies/videos if you don't. As I mentioned, it took me 2 days of frustration to discover all this before taking it back to Best Buy where they quickly assisted me in exchanging it for the Galaxy Tab E. It took me about an hour to download my favorite apps and get it all set up just the way I wanted it. Lesson learned.

A Great Starter Tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Amazon Fire HD 10 is a great value for a tablet. While it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of an iPad, it certainly gets the job done. This was purchased for someone who is less-than-tech-savvy, and it is pretty straight-forward. The only drawback is it seems slightly less customizable in terms of what can be hidden/removed from the main screens.

A little too expensive for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the 10' Fire tablet on sale for $180 for my parents for Christmas. I thought it was a great price compared to other tablets; however the capabilities of the Amazon Fire Operating System is sub-par compared to Google and Apple. Very Limiting, Camera quality was pretty pixely, and the processor performance was very buggy and choppy. It does the job. I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use.

Best purchase Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so so happy I purchased my Fire tablet 10. Its the best product (electronic wise) I have ever ever made. I have upgraded the memory with a micro card. My tablet started out 16GB I ran out of memory. I purchased a 32 GB micro card and it helped so much. I wish I had purchased the 32 but my budget was the 16GB. The pictures that this tablet takes are awesome and the videos quality is just as awesome. Not grainy picture or videos in any way.

You have to PAY to get rid of the ads!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so excited for this tablet. The picture quality was great in the store. When I got it home I realized I could not use my Google apps, and there was no Microsoft office. It wasn't compatible with the apps that I prefer and it was so difficult to try to set a work around. Then to top it off, when it went into sleep mode every time I went to turn it back on an ad was on the screen. I spent all night trying to find out how to turn it off. My husband had to Google how to turn off the ads just find out that in order to get rid of the ads you had to pay an additional $15! Ridiculous! This was not a cheap tablet. If Amazon wants to advertise to me they need to pay me! I was so furious I returned the tablet.

Too Slow for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a gamer, I simply like to go through to read news, sports, and I shop around a little on my tablet. I have had this for a yr and i have been very disappointed in it's performance. Specifically the speed to move from site to site. I have just moved on to a surface pro but I am motivated to let anyone looking at tablets know that if you are looking to use this online I would suggest moving to a different product. Anything that is downloaded if fine but the processer is incredibly slow.

Needs revision
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the fire HD 10 as an e-reader with a larger screen that could interpret colors in texts. Returned the unit 15 hours after I purchased it. The good: the sound, the appearance of the device. The bad: Heavy; slow; the screen froze often when using the interactive components of the kindle reader (accessing font size, etc); the resolution was okay for graphics, poor for text (fuzzy). Way too much bloatware from Amazon; it is very clear that the purpose of the Fire HD-10 is to sell Amazon products. Couldn't download Chrome, or any app not approved by Amazon. Exchanged this device for a Samsung Tablet S2. Immediately noticed improvements in speed, performance, availability in apps, and resolution. Even Amazon's Kindle works better on the Samsung then it does on the Amazon Fire. Happy to return the Amazon Tablet and very happy with Samsung.

Perfect for reading, not perfect for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a tablet for school (reading ebooks, watching study videos, performing online simulations) and I'm normally an Apple girl (macbook and iphone) but didn't want to spend Apple prices so I purchased the Amazon Fire HD 10 with hopes that it would do the job. The fire HD is perfect for reading and listening to music and also surfing the web; however, the resolution for watching videos whether on youtube, Netflix, etc. is really bad. I'm sure the large size of the screen plays a role but the resolution is honestly terrible. Also, it was a bit glitchy in terms of wifi connection because it would continue to disconnect me and I'd have to reconnect. Finally, I am used to Apple products so trying to navigate an Android was a new experience (one I personally didn't like). So in terms of using this tablet for reading and a small amount of web surfing, it's great for the money. In terms of a student and my own needs, this tablet just wasn't for me. Good product overall though!

Good reader and video player but menu kind of slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to replace my 8" Tab with the Amazon HD so that I could broadcast my movies (while travelling) to my FireTV. The Tab had too much lag but the Amazon HD worked flawlessly in that respect. Obviously Amazon wants just their equipment to work good and not anyone else's. The Kindle app is OK if all you want to do is read Amazon books but I have over 1000 books that are in the epub format and Kindle doesn't recognize that. Fortunately, I bulk converted my books to mobi using Calibre which took about 15 minutes so not too bad and it automatically sends them to my device. So far my books work just fine, however, the menu system is slow to respond to my touch. Sometimes my finger selects the icon and sometimes not. I'll swipe to unlock and sometimes it works, sometimes not. As long as you're patient you'll eventually get to where you're going. I like this tablet and am going to keep it now that I know what I have to do to make it work. Battery life is good, at least as good as the Tab. Haven't taken pictures with it, I mean, it's a tablet, not a camera and I don't want to look like a dork holding up a tablet for a selfie (you know who you are). I will try Skype when I get a chance.
