I bought this for my grandaughter for Christmas and she loves it. It's helpful for learning not just playing. She uses it for both.Time limit is still a good idea.

Bought two Fire HD tablets for our kids for Christmas. The price was good on Black Friday so we got the 16 rather than 8 GB. So far they have been great. Only wish I could figure out how to only use Amazon gift cards to purchase apps without having a credit card also listed.

Bought this newer version for my wife who previously had the 1st gen. She loves it and loves the color!

We ended up returning the tablet because it wasn't what we needed. You are not able to get Google Chrome on the tablet which was very inconvenient.

I have 2 generation 2 kindle and then bought this one for my daughter. I love the new feature of having multiple profiles. It lets me control the content better. with the profiles there is no need to set up separate accounts so you can control content. Only downfall is that some apps are not available for it that are on gen2.

I was looking for a lower budget tablet and bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" thinking it was as nice as my phone. It was mega slow and I couldn't use at all. A total waste of money! I bought the Fire 7" hoping it would be better. I was very surprised! Love to play games, surf the internet and read on it. Highly recommend!

Great price for a tablet of this capability, but there are definitely some shortcomings, most of which are by Amazon's design. The Google specific apps are not available for the Kindle Fire. There are also a number of apps that compete with Amazon offerings that are excluded. The first to come to mind is the Disney Movies Anywhere App. That would be great for the kids, but we're not able to access it on the Kindle Fire, even though my wife has it on her iPhone and I have it on my Android phone. This is the first tablet we purchased for our kids and it will do the trick, but I'd be hesitant to go back to the Kindle family when they're older and ready for more.

This was a gift for my stepdaughter. She loves that it came in magenta, and now she has all the same techie gadgets that the older kids have. She is very pleased with her Kindle Fire
