bought this for my 4 yaer old son and he loves it. can play all his games , read books and watch movies as well as take pictures.

Bought one each for three of the grandkids and they were all thrilled. Since grandpa is the resident techno nerd, all were pre tested and received my personal seal of approval. Thank you Amazon and Best Buy for making Christmas fun and affordable!

we bought this for my son (11 years old) mainly because amazon markets the freetime function as a way to control screen time for your kid. well, it can technically do that, problem is that's ALL IT CAN DO. when you set up a child's user profile, you can choose a younger child (8 and under) or older child (9 and over). then you have to select specifically what apps/books/videos the user can access. this is fine for a toddler but for any child older than 9 is a major pain. here's why: 1- the child's profile has no access to the app store. so either you always sit with them to browse the app store or you have to give them full access without any control over what they can see(on ios you can restrict the type of content on the app store to age appropriate only). 2- once you download an app, you have to go into the user profile and select that app to give it access to the child's profile. EVERY TIME. 3- because the kindle is tied to your amazon account, your credit card info is already stored into the kindle. which means if you give them access to the amazon store, they can see what you have been looking at. this was almost disastrous during xmas as he could see everything we were looking at and some of the things were for him. 4- also because the kindle is tied to your amazon account, when my son renamed his device to his name amazon decided to rename my account as well. the kindle is fine if you are buying for yourself or as a glorified reader. otherwise i found the settings difficult to configure and interface confusing to navigate. could be that i'm just too used to my ipad. anyway, this device ended up on ebay (where it sold for 30% less) and he's saving up to get an ipad mini.

Love this kindle! Great size, love being able to carry my "library " with me. Doctors appointments, traveling, wherever! So easy! Actually love mine so much I gave this as a gift.

My grandson loves his Fire HD and is an avid reader. It was a great gift idea! My husband has had his for awhile and loves his too.

Gave this to my dad for fathers day and he loves it! I thought 8g was not going to be enough but it is! we have downloaded many apps and he still has a lot of space left over.

Purchased this tablet for my aunt, and she brings it everywhere it her. It's stylish yet portable enough to carry in her bag. The Amazin Fire is the perfect I'm between tablet!

I love this light weight HD tablet for my kids. It's is very compatible and affordable. I am a fan of Kindle products. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. My kids loves to read books and do research for school projects. I encourage them to use this tablet to its full potential because it's very capable of doing so.

I'm not able to get the apps I like on this tablet. However, I do like it for getting ebooks from the two libraries I belong to. Simple downloading, and manuvering and it was priced right.

All of the new features are a benefit to have. This new one is replacing the first Kindle Fire

It is a little smaller than I wanted. Also would like instruction booklet. They give u 6months free internet security program it is for your computer not kindle like I thought. Went to helpfully Geek Squad at Best Buy. Love my kindle.b

I can watch movies from amazon on my FIRE HD and Netflix,read books. It is a touch screen,I can get on the internet very quick,play games,email,it is alot of fun to use.

I bought this as an alternative to buying a full tilt computer since it would be primarily used by my son and my wife for occasional Internet use and Facebook, plus any Amazon perks that come with it. So far, so good, have had no issues.

It would be nice if hard copy instructions were included, for those of us who have been late to the revolution.

I purchased 2 Fire HD 7" as presents and was pleased to receive a price match of a sale price from another competitor. I used the savings to purchase a warranty for both.

Bought this for my wife to replace her original Kindle. Lots more features. Far more useful. Only complaint is battery life. Got a great sale price and could not pass it up. She uses it mostly reading, email, Facebook, and games.

I bought this as a present for my 11 year old.. HE LOVES IT.. it has the books (he isn't a big reader so it in courages him to read) and he can also use it as a tablet
