Fire HD 8”
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really a very good product at a reasonable price. It comes with the Kindle app which is great for Ebooks. It’s nearly is fast as my phone for searching the internet. The 8’ screen is plenty big and it keeps the tablet compact.

Great Tablet
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have 6 foster children and these budget friendly tablets help with learning. You can set time limits and playing hours. There is a parent app that controls what they can access. Only drawback is you can only set 4 profiles but the workaround is using the same profile on more than one tablet. The information for apps and games is only saved on the tablet that it is opened on. I recommend getting a screen protector and kid proof case.

Highly recommended as an e-reader
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE my Kindle Fire. I bought it primarily for reading ebooks and Kindle's paperwhite technology makes it easier on the eyes than reading on a phone or tablet. I added an after market strap and it's even more enjoyable now. It's lighter than my old Kindle Fire and just as good, of not better on color and graphics. I'm so glad I purchased mine.

It's ok
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen is good the color and size is nice. When viewing some movies it's good. For reading it's good. The bad thing is it drains the battery fast. You can watch at least one movie without having to charge it but that's about it. Even if you sideload Google Playstore you still cannot get a lot of things. For example,Mario Kart cannot be downloaded even if you sideload Google Playstore. You can't download Viki Rakuten and I'm sure there are many more apps that can't be downloaded. It has some games that are okay and the color is nice. Though you have to put it on the highest brightness setting in order to see movies and Youtube properly. I did sideload the Youtube because if you use the regular one that comes on the device you can't watch Youtube movies on it. Only with the sideload Youtube you can. Reading on it is very comfortable, I have several bible apps on it for studying and it's good for it. I do have Amazon Kids subscription and my son borrows it for kids games and he seems to like it. The speakers and sound is not really good on some videos. Some websites take forever to load, like Best Buy. I would only suggest to buy it when it's on sale.

Fire review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tablet and value for the money. Highly functional and accessible to your favorite apps and streaming services. Screen could be brighter with more vivid detail but an excellent option verses the more expensive tablets. Would definitely recommend! FIRE.

It’s an Ad-support device…misleading info
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had no idea this was an ad-supported device until I was well after the return window. To remove the ads you have to pay an extra $15 to amazon. It is misleading to not include this information in the title or the specs for the device. It is noted at the ads are a “feature” but that leads one to believe a feature can be turned on or off at will. I have no issue with ad-supported devices, but that is not what I intended to purchase. I am frustrated that this is basically a hidden fee. It is very misleading not to include this information clearly in the title of the add or in the specs.

Posted .Hello Veeak. Thank you for your feedback on the Fire HD 8 tablet, and I sincerely appreciate you sharing your concerns regarding the lockscreen ads. I understand how frustrating it can be to discover an unexpected aspect of a product after purchase, and your feedback about transparency is valued.
The Fire HD 8 tablet includes what Amazon calls "Special Offers," which are lockscreen advertisements that help keep the device at a lower price point. This is part of how Amazon is able to offer the tablet at its affordable price — the ad-supported version is discounted compared to the ad-free version, and the one-time payment to remove them covers that price difference.
To remove the lockscreen ads from your device, you have two options:
Through your Amazon account online — go to "Manage Your Content and Devices," find your Fire HD 8 in the device list, click "Device Actions," and select "Remove Special Offers." You'll be prompted to confirm the one-time payment.
Directly from your tablet — navigate to Settings > Lock Screen and follow the prompts to unsubscribe from Special Offers.
It's important to note that these ads only appear on the lockscreen and do not interrupt your use of the tablet once unlocked. They do not affect performance, and your browsing, apps, and content remain unaffected during active use.
I want to assure you that your feedback regarding how this information is communicated at the point of sale is heard and appreciated. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, Amazon Customer Service is available 24/7 at 1-888-280-4331. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Not bad

Posted .Hello SaimaZ! Thank you for your feedback on the Fire HD 8 tablet. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing freezing issues that are causing frustration. Freezing problems can often be resolved through a few troubleshooting steps. First, ensure your tablet has a strong internet connection and that you're running the latest software version by going to Settings > Device Options > System Updates. Restart your tablet by holding the power button for 40 seconds, then pressing it again to turn it back on, which can clear temporary glitches. Check your available storage by going to Settings > Storage, as low storage can cause performance issues—consider removing unused apps, clearing app caches, or moving photos and videos to cloud storage or a microSD card. Close apps running in the background by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and swiping away unused apps. If freezing persists during specific app usage, try clearing that app's cache and data through Settings > Apps & Notifications > Manage All Applications, or uninstall and reinstall the problematic app. For persistent issues, you may need to perform a factory reset as a last resort (Settings > Device Options > Reset to Factory Defaults), though be sure to back up important data first. I hope these troubleshooting steps help resolve the freezing issues and improve your tablet's performance.

A surprisingly delightful little tablet
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up the Fire HD 8 (2024 release) mostly for simple, on‑the‑go entertainment, and it has genuinely exceeded my expectations. It’s lightweight, easy to hold, and the 8” HD display is crisp enough for reading, streaming, and browsing without straining my eyes. I love that it feels portable without feeling flimsy. The 3GB of memory keeps things running smoothly for everyday tasks, and the 32GB of storage is plenty for my apps and downloads — plus it’s nice knowing I can expand it if I ever need more space. The battery life has also been a pleasant surprise; I can take it with me throughout the day without constantly hunting for a charger. What I appreciate most is how simple and reliable it is. It’s not trying to be a high‑end powerhouse — it’s just a friendly, dependable tablet that does exactly what I need it to do. For reading, watching shows, checking emails, or relaxing with a game, it’s become my go‑to companion. If you’re looking for something affordable, portable, and genuinely enjoyable to use, this little Fire HD 8 is a wonderful choice.

One of the better buy tablets...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the better bang for buck tablets you can get. Its decently spec'd, 6 core CPU, 3GB of RAM for the 32GB version. FireOS 8.3.x isn't current to Android OS and Amazon's Appstore is more limited than Google Play, but its hard to beat a 65-75 dollar price tag. Battery life is excellent and the tablet is great for reading & streaming. Display is decent, though only 1200x800. Not the greatest resolution but acceptable for something in this price range.

The Perfect Gift
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my mother who was in desperate need of an upgrade. What made me choose this product over the other competitors was because of different reasons. 1.) Price: the price is unmatched and for what you get, you cant really complain. 2.) Battery Life: my mother watches shows/movies throughout the day, and becasue of the amazing battery life she only really needs to charge it every other day. 3.) Reliable/Sturdy: unlike other fragile tablets out there, i really like how this product feels and holds up to drops. Of course we have a case on it to extend the life of the tablet, but i just like the build better than the other options out there. 4.) Simplicity: its not the flashiest tablet out there, but it does what we need it to do. My mother can easily navigate through her tablet with ease and has no problems figure out how to use the other benefits it offers. Overall im very please with this purchase and i will most definitely be upgrading my daughters soon to another one down the road.

Used as a Kindle
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Fire tablet. I only use the Kindle app (an actual Kindle is too small for my liking). I don't check email or watch videos; it is strictly a "Kindle" to me. The screen is large and easy to read. I have never had a problem with either of my Fire tablets. Since I don't use it for other tablet-type activities, I am not sure how well videos and games work, but the Kindle app is top-notch.
