All-around best USI 2.0 stylus for Chromebooks?

I got one of these in a bundle with a Fire 10 (13th gen, 2023), with which it happily resides in a pen loop on the case, and liked it so much that I got another one to use with my chromebook. The latter has a partial wrap with a piece of glow-in-the-dark tape so I can easily find it in my pencil mug in the middle of the night (what? you don't do jigsaw puzzles in the middle of the night? huh) and so I can keep track of which pen is which for battery tracking and such. They perform well with NiMH rechargeable batteries. I've had several rechargeable stylii die within two or three years, most (if not all) from battery problems, so I prefer removable alkalines or NiMH batteries so that battery issues don't mean end-of-life for the stylus. Also, when the battery gets low, you just swap it out and keep working, without having to wait for the pen to recharge. This stylus out-performs several (more expensive) others I've tried from various makers, and it is out-performed by none. It also has a button, which can be useful in some software, and may be more useful in the future with new software or updates.

Picked up the stylus for my new Fire Max 11, through a great price with a reward coupon. Easy pick-up. Got it home, loaded the battery, and immediately it was recognized by the Fire Max, and off we went. Works great for writing, sketching and coloring, various levels of pressure, angles, etc. Magnetically attaches to the side of the tablet. Great stylus that works and the price was right.

Great entry level stylus for kids

This is part of a 'package' review that I've also reviewed the Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet and pad. It's a package designed for kids, and it's primarily that point of view I'm writing these reviews from.
Out of the package the stylus looks nice, and with the battery (included) it's a good weight--light enough for extended use but heavy enough to feel substantial.
It responds well, though it's not super 'accurate' as far as stylus' go and if you want to use it for very detailed drawings or diagrams you'll probably want something a bit more advanced. For my 11-year-old it's fine and she loves it. She mostly uses it for tapping the screen and opening things, but occasionally uses it for the fun, free drawing program that you can find on the Amazon app store. I've played with it some in the same drawing program and really liked it's responsiveness. Again, didn't quite get as detailed as I'd like, but responded well and was certainly good enough for the price.
The only drawbacks I've seen are that it's attachment method is that it's 'magnetized' to use with the case, but there's not a way to actually 'attach' it otherwise. For a kid that is not ideal, and I've already found it 'laying around' nowhere near the tablet a few times now. It would have been nice to have a loop or strap included on the case. The other drawback I foresee is tracking down the required 'AAAA' battery for replacing when the included one runs out. She's used it (a LOT) in the two weeks we've had it so far and the battery seems to be holding up pretty well, but there's no real way to 'track' battery life (at least that I've discovered yet) so we'll have to go ahead and get a back up to be ready whenever it does go out. It's not a battery size that is on shelves very often from what I've seen.
Overall it's perfect for kid's, especially at this price point, you'll just want to keep in mind and plan for the drawbacks with it.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 is their latest and most versatile device offering superb general purpose tablet computing, streaming capability and internet access services. The Amazon Stylus Pen is specifically designed to complement its functions.
Amazon was founded in Bellevue, Washington in 1994 as an online bookstore. Over the next five years It expanded to offer a wide variety of products and today accounts for about 40% of all online retail sales. In 2002 the company created Amazon Web Services to offer cloud computing and web storage services and today it is a leading force in that industry. Amazon Prime subscription service was launched in 2005, offering free shipping and later, music and video streaming. Amazon began creating its own electronic products starting with the Kindle e-reader in 2007. This led to the development of the Fire operating system (based upon Android) and Fire tablets. The first Fire tablet was a 7 inch model released in 2011. Successive generations incorporated various improvements. The fifth generation was a 10 inch HD model in 2015. The Fire Max 11 is the 13th and latest generation of these tablets.
Here are the key features of this new stylus:
• Amazon Stylus Pen for Fire Max 11 (Model: ME-USI306, UPC: 850047941152)
• Manufacturer: Maxeye
• USI 2.0 certified stylus, compatible with all USI 2.0 supported devices
• 1.5 mm tip
• 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity
• Enables tilt support +/- 45 degrees
• Automatically paired with Fire Max 11 tablet
• Powered by included AAAA battery
• 6 month expected battery life
• Sleep mode feature extends battery life
• Magnetically attaches to side of Fire Max 11 tablet
• One replacement tip included
• Tip puller included
• Aluminum body with magnetic edge
• Dimensions: 5.85 inches Long, 0.37 inch Thickness
• Weight: 0.7 ounce
The new Amazon Stylus Pen is the first USI device introduced by Amazon for its Fire tablets. It was designed specifically for the Fire Max 11. It is compatible both aesthetically and functionally with that great tablet.
A USI (Universal Stylus Initiative) device is certified to work with a variety of products (laptops, tablets, phones) which can accept stylus input. The USI pen works by initiating a two-way communication with the writing surface to collaborate on the pressure sensitivity and location to enable more accurate writing or sketching.
It is a nice slate grey color which matches the aluminum case of the Fire Max 11. It has a flat edge which magnetically attaches to the left side of the tablet (in landscape mode.)
The settings function of the Fire Max 11 can adjust the width of line (thin, medium and thick) and select the color of the line (eight choices including black and white).
The tip should last a long time, but in the event it is damaged, Amazon includes a spare in the package, along with a tool for removal/reinsertion of the tip.
There are quite a few apps in the Amazon Appstore which help you to make full use of the capabilities of the Stylus Pen for graphics, note-taking, sketching, calligraphy, etc. Look them over and you are sure to find several which are useful and fun.
There is also a brief tutorial on the use of the stylus built into the Fire Max 11.
If you use your tablet for graphics, photo editing or document review the Stylus Pen is invaluable and adds a great deal of functionality to the Fire Max 11. The tablet has excellent handwriting recognition/text conversion capability so the stylus may be used quite often. One common use is to add margin notes to Kindle books.
It would be nice if the pen was powered by a rechargeable power source , but AAAA batteries are less than $2 and I am sure that Amazon runs sales on them from time to time for even less.
I recommend that any buyer of the Fire Max 11 add the Amazon Stylus Pen to their purchase. For a relatively small additional cost it will enable a great many possibilities afforded by this superb device.

The Stylus Pen for the Amazon Fire Max 11 (2023 release) in a sophisticated gray hue is a seamless blend of form and function. Flaunting a sleek design that feels premium to the touch, its performance is equally impressive, offering exceptional responsiveness without any noticeable lag. Perfectly balanced in weight, the stylus ensures a comfortable grip for prolonged use, enhancing tasks from sketching to note-taking. Effortlessly pairing with the Fire Max 11, it proves to be an invaluable accessory for those looking to maximize their tablet experience, offering good value for its price. I love that the pen comes with a new tip and tip puller, in the event you break the rubber tip and must replace it. There are a few things that I did find on the annoying side sometimes, such as when the pen would release from its magnetic spot on the side of the tablet and fall on the ground, so I never put the pen on the side of the tablet when walking, I would put it in my bag, pocket, or carry it. Overall, I do like the pen and find it helpful with many tasks.

It was fun turning my fire tablet 11 into a drawing pad! My daughter say me drawing on it, so she of course insisted trying it out. It kept her busy drawing pictures of cats, so I’d say it’s a win!
The battery is AAAA, so it’s a bit interesting and specific. The manual says 6 months of battery life, so I can’t complain there!
The pen tip feels rather pointy and sharp. It’s a good thing, but I’m wondering it’s longterm impact on the glass. I’m not an artist so I’ll only use it to write. I know this isn’t a drawing tablet, but I think it could’ve had a softer tip. So far it feels smooth on the glass, but I’m wondering if I’ll need some added protection.
I have a lot of fun using it for note taking. It was perfect for quickly writing down some ideas or creating an agenda.
Pros:
Durable feel
Well built
Replacement tip
Magnetic so it can stick to size of tablet
Cons:
a bit heavy
Tip seems a bit firm for writing on the tablet
Overall:
It does what it’s supposed to do. It’s a decent price and pairs instantly with the fire tablet 11. The tip is a little hard for my liking, but it’s not a deal breaker.

Purpose-built stylus for Amazon Fire Max 11

This stylus provides added functionality for note taking, drawing, presentations, and more. The Amazon Fire Max 11 stylus is bundled with the Fire Max 11 tablet, or with the tablet and keyboard, in some retail packages and also is sold separately. The bundle with all three items is a good deal, costing about half of a iOS bundle with the same three items. The three-item bundle makes a small, lightweight, affordable fully functional computer for business and pleasure activities.
Pros:
- The stylus is designed to match the dimensions and color of the Fire Max tablet case.
- It is flat on one side and attaches magnetically to the Fire Max tablet.
- It has a clickable button.
- The stylus comes with one additional point. You can replace the stylus point by removing it with the included tool.
Cons:
- No stylus case or loop is available to secure the stylus when not in use. While the stylus sticks to the tablet magnetically, it can pop off if the stylus catches on something.
- The stylus uses one battery; unknown how long the battery will last. Unusual size AAAA battery.
- The stylus is short, designed to fit the vertical dimension of the wide-screen Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet. People with large hands may find the stylus too small.
- The stylus point is hardened rubber. I am not aware whether silicone tip covers are available for those who want a softer touch.
As a graphic designer and long-time techie, I enjoy using a stylus; it allows the Amazon Fire tablet to become a drawing tablet. It makes my design workflow more productive, especially combined with a keyboard when I create a lot of text.
If you plan to write or draw on the tablet frequently, I recommend buying a glass screen protector.

It's... fine. Fine? Yeah, really not much to say. The body is sturdy and decently made if awkward and uses AAAAs. But it is very power efficient, having barely put a dent in the battery so far. This is also the cheapest and probably easiest to find USI 2.0 pen that most will be able to find.
It is the first pen I've really used and your mileage varies greatly depending on the app you're using, but I heard thats normal for Android/ChromeOS.
Wait, isn't this thing an Amazon pen for FireOS? Well, yes. But no. FireOS is just a very bad port of Android that is literally useful only for blasting Amazon content and ads directly into your brain, so thank God this is something like USI 2 and not something painfully proprietary.
Was gonna rate this a three but I think being cheap, just decent enough to offer an acceptable pen experience while being a USI 2 device is enough to bump it llup. Decent, not great or good. Just enough.

It’s a pen that works with the fire 11 and fire 10 tablets, only the 2023 fire 10 not the older ones. Toss the battery in it and use it as you please. It’s kinda gimmicky on these tablets as most apps you don’t need it. I use it for keeping notes and drawing rough ideas on the go so I can toss them in to cad or lay it out on the welding table when I have time to do those hobbys. Side load some apps from google and it opens up a lot more options

This pen feels well built and works out of the box. I use this on an (USI 2.0 compatible) HP - 13.5" 2-in-1 x360 Touch-Screen Chromebook and the experience is seamless with the Cursive app. No Bluetooth pairing and none of that is required. I am not necessarily a fan of the fact that it uses AAAA batteries, but it is what it is.
The only thing that is confusing with this pen is that the button on the pen seems pointless or has no function. The button's utility might be tied to the Amazon 11inch Tablet, but on the Chromebook, clicking the button does nothing. Bottomline: this is an affordable USI 2.0 pen that works
