Halo There, This Watch is a Great Starter Watch

The Halo is an awesome alternative to a smart watch where you want to get started and see what the hype is all about. It’s got a super easy to use interface and setup so don’t expect to be confused at all like some smart watches out there with a similar look.
It’s all about swiping left, right, up, and down. If you can do that then you can manage to use the Halo.
It’s uber easy on the eyes two and is unsuspecting. It looks like a black rubber band on your wrist but it is a great little coach to let you know your heart rate, steps, time, and tracks your exercise/sleep.
If you’re hoping to keep it simple the. The black matte band with the the high gloss screen are perfect for you. The band is comfortable and the size is adjustable on your wrist like a normal watch.
To charge it you clamp the included port to the watch and let it sit. The battery lasted about three full days before it went completely dead.
You have the option to manage your goals through health and wellness applications which I haven’t taken advantage of yet.
Overall a great watch and it is super versatile.

The Amazon Halo View Fitness Tracker does more than track your health and fitness. You are able to receive text messages and calls. I like that the watch allows me to count my steps for the day and allows me to know how many calories I have burnt up for the day. This helps me make progress and stay accountable. The watch connected easily to my Amazon account. Alexa can also be notified of this watch as well. The watch provides stats on your heart rate, how long you have been sedentary, how many hours you get asleep each night, and fits comfortable on the hand. This watch is a touch screen and you are able to scroll up and down for various menus. In addition to swiping left and right to making different selections. The app itself that is on your phone, provides you with healthy meal selections, deep breathing exercises, and much more. I am still learning about new features each day. One thing that was noted is that the watch can last approximately 7 days without charging. In my case I would have to say this is a definite yes. I tested it out and depending upon what you are using your watch for, I do confirm that it can last long without having to charge it. The watch size was perfect for my wrist. I would recommend this product to others, if you have an amazon account and would like to keep track of your fitness goals.

A very typical looking fitness band. Simple touchscreen display with a single area at the bottom for touching to go back. It has all the features most other fitness bands have but with the subscription, included for 1 year, it provides more.
It has all the things you would expect of a smart watch/fitness band. Time, heart rate, footsteps, calories, sleep monitor, notifications, audio control and exercise options. When paired with your phone you can get even more functions like guided exercise routines, scored activities, food plans and more details to each of the normal functions. However, even further with the subscription you can use their body composition toll to calculate body fat percentage and their tone monitoring that calculates the tone of your voice to determine where you are at on a scale of amused, content, reserved or displeased. Though I see these features offered, I feel a little uneasy letting an application take photos of my bare body and my watch listening to every word I say to determine my mood.
When I first pulled it out, it says to charge to 12%, but the charger is the strangest thing I have seen and there was no indication of it actually charging. It is like one of those little hair clips, but with a wire connected to it. Then I didn’t know how to put it on because I have never seen a watch band like this, but the app has a little video for it, so it makes sense. However, it is still awkward to adjust. I have the medium/large band as I have used that size before, but with only 7 holes I am keeping it on the tightest to the one before most of the time and I am having a hard time getting it tight enough. As awkward as it is to get on though, it seems to hold pretty well.
Tracking wise it seems to be doing just as good as my previous watches. I check on my stats each day and see that I really should be more active, but my sleep is usually good. The app is where you get the real details, but I feel like it is just so cluttered with stuff that it is hard to find exactly what you are looking for. Battery life has lasted over 5 days but it notes that if you enable the tone monitoring that it is only about 2 days.
Overall, it is a typical fitness watch with added features through the mobile app that you don’t see in others. I don’t think I will continue the subscription after a year, but we will see it come then.

Let me start by saying I've owned a slew of super expensive watches and that is the last then I will ever buy. Right off the bat. I love this thing. It's simple yet still very intuitive. You don't have all of the fancy stuff at your wrist, but it is built into the app on the phone. So long as you can access it. This watch can do it. Also, I don't recall ever being able to check my blood oxygen level. That's cool. I can change the track on my phone and I tried three different music apps. It seems pretty universal as long as you give permission. It's a simple forward track back a track and pause and play on the wrist. That's all I really need. I don't need to know what I'm listening to. I can listen and hear what I'm listening to. It actually tracks my sleep pretty well as well which is refreshing. Lets me know I might want to start getting a little more sleep and how good or bad I'm doing. Who needs a $500 watch with all its complications and sometimes clunky controls when you can have a simple swipe up swipe down, tap here, tap there fitness watch that does everything those watches do. For a fraction of the cost. Thinking about buying more and some bands to go with it. Just because I can and for once be able to afford it. I have an Android phone but it clearly says on the box that it works for iPhone as well. Highly recommend it.

There is no shortage of options when it comes to fitness wearables. The Halo View by Amazon is a contender with lots to like, and a few shortcomings.
The Halo View comes in as one of the most affordable devices on the market. For the person trying to decide if a wearable such as this is something they would really use, the affordability makes this an easy choice.
Battery life is quite decent. Out of the box the battery was at 75%. I strapped this device on my wrist on a Sunday at 4pm. Wednesday at 9pm, after continual wearing, battery life was 21%.
The included charger has a unique side clip design and offers a rather quick charge. However, the design also makes it difficult to align.
Setup took less than 10 minutes and is rather straightforward. I was disappointed to find there is no way to set the clock utilizing military time.
Night mode works well, dimming the screen, muting notifications, and a customizable time display.
The band is comfortable. As mentioned, I wore this nearly four days and never experienced any discomfort.
The device is waterproof and worked flawlessly during showers and swimming.
Overall this device is great for more of an entry level user. Enough features to track your basic metrics, well priced, comfortable, and good battery life make this an easy contender.

First of all, this is a really well designed fitness tracker that does a lot. I love the feel of the Amazon Halo View. The fit is very nice and its very lightweight. It has the option to increase the brightness of the screen and many different “watch faces” to choose from. Going from setting to setting for me is a little tricky in the fact that I have bigger fingers and the small screen makes that a challenge. I have used it since I received it on seveal workouts and it is very accurate.
It came out of the box charged and ready to go, and I had no trouble connecting the Amazon View to my phone, in fact, I used it that night to measure my sleep after I had connected it and downloaded the App, but the next morning when I got up around 6 a.m. to exercise, it would not connect to the phone. I tried resetting to see if that would fix the problem, however, it did not. I ran out of time and was not able to use it that day to track my exercise. Once I returned home I looked on my Amazon account to see if I could find a solution, I had to factory reset the device and go through the process of connecting to my phone once again.
It has since worked well and I am pleased w/ the Halo View. It has a great battery life and I have now wore it for 4 days w/ out charging the battery. I like the fact that it checks my heart rate as I exercise and I don’t have to go through an act of Congress as I do w/ my smartwatch to check my heart rate. It is simple to use, simple to set up, and if not for the “glitch” that I had when the very first day I would have given it five stars.

Decent Fitness Tracker, Not So Good Touchscreen

I will be comparing this fitness tracker to others which are similarly situated, which I have used in the past or are currently using now--namely: FitBit trackers, a Garmin, Apple Watches, a Citizen smartwatch and a Fossil smartwatch. Although this is strictly called a "fitness tracker", it has a load of features which place it somewhat into the "smartwatch" category, in my opinion.
First of all, it has all the regular functions of a smartwatch, telling time, having timers and alarms, all that good stuff. For fitness tracking and health, it counts steps, measures heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and sleep activity. It also measures your sedentary levels and burned calories. You can even set it to receive text and call notifications from your smartphone. Yes, you have to download the Amazon Halo app and plug in all your info, but the app is jam-packed with tons of extras which show all your data at a glance, help you with settings for the watch, and it has all sorts of supplementary information for your general health which you can click on and read about. Honestly, I wasn't interested at all in the extra stuff to read in the app but it's there if you are interested in those types of health tips; I am more interested in the actual features of this watch and how well they do or don't work. Compared to the aforementioned other fitness trackers and smartwatches that I have used, of which my Apple Watch is the one that I have used the most, this Amazon Halo is adequate to good, given its relatively lower price point.
The screen is one of its best features--it's very bright, crisp, and colorful. However, the responsiveness of the touchscreen is unreliable. When I would swipe it either up/down or left/right, it would only work about half the time, so it was very frustrating to use in that aspect. The home "button" (it's not an actual button but a small area to touch at the bottom of the screen) works great to get out of one of the features quickly, so that you can choose another feature to look at.
The strap is quite comfortable, soft and so far, sturdy. The entire watch is waterproof so it's nice to shower and wash my hands without worrying about getting it wet. As to the actual features, I compared their results head-to-head with my Apple Watch (for the health features such as heart rate and oxygen sensor, etc.) and they were pretty much alike. Battery longevity was good. It uses a proprietary charger (read: don't lose it or break it, because you'll have to buy an exact new one from Amazon to replace it since it's not a universal charger), and you'll also have to supply a charging brick. Charging time is also nice and quick. With purchase you get one free year of what is called "Halo Membership"--kind of like Apple Fitness+ if you're familiar with that service--it's simply access to more exclusive features such as workouts and other personalized programs dealing with nutrition, diet, activity, sleep, etc. After the initial year it's 3.99/month. You can also purchase different colored bands to switch out if you prefer. And it will work with Alexa, but only if you already have an Alexa-enabled device (the watch itself does not have a microphone).
Overall, I would say that for the features, for the price point, it does a decent job. While it has a number of "smart watch" features, I would still say it veers more towards the typical FitBit (the FitBits of which style it mirrors--the elongated rectangular face). However, because the touchscreen responsiveness is so frustrating at times--and that touchscreen is how you'll be interacting with it most often throughout the day/night--I have to dock the stars to a 3/5. The FitBits and other touchscreen-faced fitness trackers and smartwatches I have personally used have had much, much better reliability in terms of more instantaneous responsiveness.

It's very light and easy to forget you are even wearing anything on your wrist.
The band is a soft silky feeling rubber but is very durable and provides some stretching.
The band is an open style, but still makes it easy to operate one handed through it's design.
There is a small peg on the short strap, and an open loop roughly an inch behind it. It's very easy to line the peg up with the right hole with just one hand, and then you get to neatly tuck the excess band through the built in loop hole on the short side. At a quick glance the whole tracker and band look just like some of those rubber bracelets people use to wear all the time.
The screen is a touch screen, but there is a small sensor located at the bottom of the screen that works as the major button for all actions. The watch face can be set to turn on by flipping your wrist and looking at it, or by touching the button.
The watch face is customizable with it's layout, and widget placements. You can even set a security pin to lock the watch if desired. The Halo View can sync this with your phone to receive notifications and messages.
Physically, it's small, lightweight, durable and water resistant to 50M. So it can be worn at all times showering, swimming and at work. I'm not sure of the watch face glass and it's overall strength, so if you work in construction or other abrasive jobs, you might want to keep the face turned in to under your wrist, just keep in mind that the sensors were designed for an outward wear.
The tracker uses green and red lights to record it's data. I have seen some inconsistencies in the O2 reading, but the heart rates have been pretty normal so far.
Most Fitness trackers use green light to record heart rates because of it's ease of use and years of proven data. However keep in mind that green light is easily absorbed by our bodies, and tattoos and even the concentration on melanin in our skin can effect it's readings. The sensors on the tracker record the variations in the reflected light patterns to determine the heart rate.
It's always good to remind ourselves that fitness trackers are not medical equipment, and the data collected and displayed isn't always going to be 100 percent accurate, it's just supposed to be a baseline for us to use. If that baseline seems way out of whack then it's time to seek medical help.
Keeping what I just said in mind, the Halo View also can take O2 readings. My readings have ranged from 85 to 95 in the same sitting. Proper placement of the watch and sensors will lead you to the best readings possible by the watch(remember it's not medical equipment). You should always try to slide the watch away from your hand , up your arm a bit to avoid most of your wrist bones conflicting with the sensors. The O2 sensors use red light, because red light is not as easily absorbed by our bodies, which means it can penetrate deeper into the tissue. The sensors pickup the difference in the infrared light vs the regular red light in the blood streams. Heavily oxygenated blood absorb more infrared light, while deoxygenated blood absorbs more regular red light. It's the calculated ratios here that give the device your O2 levels/percentages.
I got inconsistent readings even with proper placement of the tracker, but most of the readings were still in acceptable ranges.
The Halo View does track something I have never seen another tracker do before, and that is our voice. It's not so much of what we are saying but how we are saying it. Personally I think more people need this. It pays attention to the tone in your voice and tries to let you know how you could be being perceived by others. This is a great tool, as I have tried to express this same point to my kids. People will react to you differently based on your tone. If you have a friendlier happier tone, people will respond positively to you. If you sound angry or depressed all the time people will be defensive or steer clear of a conversation with you. Not only is this a great tool to use to practice sounding more inviting, but just be doing this it lightens your own mental health. If you sound happier, you will feel that as well.
So, while this part may seem to be very intrusive and somewhat rude( to be criticized by an app ) on how we talk, wouldn't it be nice if everyone you spoke to sounded happy and friendly.
The activities tracker seems to work pretty good at keeping track of exercise, steps, movement and calories burned. It gives you a score(percentage) of where you are for the week on keeping up with your general exercise. You can also schedule workouts or 5 minute sessions through the app, to keep you on track for the week. I like to be able to see where I am at for calories burned for the day.
I know this is just a generalized number and it would take much greater equipment to give an accurate measurement, but it's still nice to have something to work with.
It takes 3500 calories to burn off 1 pound of weight. The catch is you have to burn 3500 more calories than what you took in. The bonus is, it doesn't have to all happen in one day. Which is why most people only lose a pound or two per week with proper diet and exercise. It's not healthy at all to completely starve yourself for the purpose of losing weight. Reducing your calorie intake through a tailored diet is the best way. That way your body doesn't get malnourished and cause reverse effects of fat storage. You can actually lower your metabolism and make it even harder for you to burn calories. With continued starvation you will reduce your lean muscle mass and even your organ sizes. It's a very unhealthy and detrimental way to lose weight, with lasting effects.
Other fitness bands, watches and trackers have taken an extra step in trying to get to a healthier goal, but the Amazon Halo View seems to really nail that idea down with their companion app to this tracker. It seems to hit every aspect of health. There are articles and ideas on how to eat healthier, talk happier, breathe better for relaxation and exercise, as well as improve mental health.
The app helps you schedule quick exercise sessions for people with limited time, or full workouts.
It even keeps track of your sleep patterns and lets you know how much rest you are actually getting while you are asleep.
Overall the idea on what Amazon's app and the Halo View are trying to do here is great. They have provided people with an inexpensive tracker, app and health management program (a low cost paid membership service) that when used properly and open mindedly can bring people to not only a healthier physical state, but also mental state.

There's a lot I like about it only a few things I would say I'm not so much a fan of. I'll start with the things I don't like so much. Starting out I did feel that the band could be a little more durable and could possible cause issues depending on what I'm actually doing. During an intense workout with a lot of moving the band didn't break but came undone. It's something I can possibly prevent happening in the future but I see that could become a situation I simply need a backup on standby just in case. Trying to add a code for privacy didn't give me enough options to work with since I had so much trouble getting to certain numbers. I don't have big fingers but could see how that would impose a problem for people who do have bigger fingers. I wouldn't want anyone having the ability to access my messages and recent calls freely only because I am limited on my options for choosing a pin.
The things I like about it. I enjoy having a device that I can see my calls or messages before choosing to interrupt my workout. So having access to the things that are important to me without touching my phone helps. The app keeping track of my sleep patterns and providing helpful tips makes the membership worth while.
