Easy to read screen in daylight and battery lasts easily a month

I have had one for a year and recommended that my father in law purchase one. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to read and has issues with reading on a smaller device. The screen is easy on eye strain and it is still compact enough to take anywhere.

This kindle is excellent, it's really good for you to read novels. You can add bookmarks, notes and etc. In addition, the battery is really good and it can lasts for a whole week without worry about it. Finally, the best part of it is the fact that it does nothing harm to your eyes. I would recommend it.

Extremely lightweight and simple to use. Much better than hauling a bunch of books around on vacation.

As a bookworm since I can remember, I TRULY like the ease of use of this machine. Owning an older Kindle, I was a bit skeptical about adapting to this new model, but, no worries, at ALL. I like the compactness, the fact that it's very user friendly, and the fact that you are never without something to read! WARNING: This does NOT have a built-in light, but for the price, that's a SMALL quibble (external lights are TOO easy to come by).

It is the perfect size. I love being able to carry around so many reading choices. I read voraciously, and I live out in the country. I love being able to shop and buy books whenever I want, even the middle of the night. This is my second Kindle. I used my old one for 3 years. The only thing I miss on this one is my old game of Solataire. I can't seem to find those types of games anymore.

Not a book reader at all but this definitely helped get my attention. Love the battery life: one charge 2 weeks still about half battery left. Don't use the Internet but love that it's available for those "uh ho" moments. Overall very happy. OH BY THE WAY awesome for beach days.

Easy to use and and load books only needs a light to read in the dark

Really light and easy to use. Set up was simple and it is perfect for reading books.

I love to read outside but hate the glare that comes with the Apple (Iphone/Ipad) and Android Products. This Kindle has a Matte Screen so you have literally NO GLARE! I can lay on the beach, next to the pool or even on my patio at home and read without having to shade my Kindle(which would defeat the purpose of even being outside.) I love this product and would recommend it to all of my reading friends!

This was purchased primarily as a reader but provides additional benefits for a reasonable amount of money. I own a smart phone, a wonderful small laptop and have good computers for home use. The purpose for this was to make reading easier while traveling and yet provide a means of checking mail, and online information. If I had children, this would be a great device to have as a learning tool. Pleased with the size and quality.

Excellent ebook reader, light weight and the battery last forever.

Had to buy this because my Mother-in-Law's Kindle finally died... This model is dependable, clean, and easy to see and use. I was happy that it was still available, even though the newer version was also in stock. She's happy, I'm happy, and most importantly, my Wife is happy with me... Yep, totally worth the effort and cost, so all is good.

I purchased this as a gift for my girlfriend because she had been brining it up for a good while and gave it to her as a birthday gift. She loves it so much. She takes it wherever she goes and the size of the kindle makes it so portable. Reads it wherever there is a wait or a line. It was a great choice.

This is just the basic old school Kindle. I bought it for reading on the beach in bright sun and didn't need any of the extra features of the higher priced models. Just remember most all the units you buy in the store are ad supported and you will have to pay Amazon an extra $20 to stop the ads. They are particularly intrusive and irritating. As an extra reader to use in daylight it gets the job done.

This is my first Kindle and I love it. I highly recommend it for the price, especially if you catch it when it's on sale for $59 like I did! The only negative thing I would say after having it for a while now, is that I kind of wish it had the backlight option that the paperwhite does. I might upgrade to that when it goes on sale again.

I like this Kindle very much, very light and easy to use.
