Great reader for that money, recommend. 2 week battery life

Kindle has very eye-friendly screen. Battery last for weeks too.

I got one of these when I was working on board a cruise ship.I love reading and would acquire many books to my collection (and had to take them home) so my luggage was always heavier when leaving. This helped fill my need for new books, but never added to my weight. Still love a good book though.

I wanted an e-reader that was still readable outdoors in daylight. The basic Amazon Kindle was exactly what I needed. The battery life on it is amazing. It can be a little laggy on the touch response, however I rarely use any of the additional functions on it so it's not an issue to me at all.

This is my third version of Kindle. Definately smaller and lighter, but I actually preferrred the buttons!! I find it frustrating trying to get out of a book to check on something...not really senior friendly!

Bought this to read while traveling and camping. It's much lighter and takes less space than a book(s). Use a small LED lamp to read in my tent at night. I also stored PDF files of hiking trails to review for the next day's trek.

I love reading but I hate having to carry around books. This purchase allowed to me take multiple reading materials with me and provides a huge convenience as far as purchasing books. The battery life is also a huge plus!

When reading e-books, this little device is a big step up from a tablet or computer screen. The black on white screen does wonders to reduce glare and eye fatigue. While only able to stare at a tablet screen for so long, I can read text on this for hours at a time. The battery life is excellent and can be taken out in the world for an extended time without worrying about trying to find a charger. Highly recommended.

what a great way to read a book.. wonderful.. this is my first time using such a device and I must say it was a real pleasure having the Kindle instead of carrying a hardcover book around, especially on the beach. Thank You for making such a device and I would recommend it to everyone.

I bought this Kindle for my daughter. She likes to buy books but has found this Kindle is perfect for traveling. She's a fast reader so being able to purchase a new book online and have it readily available is great. I love mine and I knew she would like this Kindle.

My Dad loves to read and at his age, doesn't really like to be out on the road and going to book stores. He's got access to thousands of books and can stay at the retirement community. Works great for him. Simple enough to understand.

My optometrist recommended getting an e-reader that was not back lit, thinking it is better for the eyes. I went to the store to find one (and there aren't many that aren't backlit) and I found this one. It does what I need, is very user friendly, and I love using it!

Does everything you would want in a basic e-reader. Excellent for outdoor daylight reading or indoor with sufficient light. Doesn't have a lighted screen. So, if you need that, move up to the Paperwhite.

Initial impressions are excellent. Good feel, responsiveness and clarity. Easy setup to link to your goodreads and amazon accounts. Started reading straight away after following short demo. Pleased :) The "exact" flip style cover, $10, has good reviews on amazon.

I was looking for a gift to give my mother for her birthday. She loves to read and was also looking for something that could make life at work easier. The Kindle was exactly what she wanted and even more. Not a day goes by that she doesn't use it.

I've been very impressed with this device. Setting up the Kindle was quick and easy. The battery life is awesome. You can literally go weeks without having to recharge it. Amazon's library is second to none, so you will never run out of books to read.

I was hesitant to buy an e-reader after my Nook started malfunctioning, but I am so glad I decided to buy a Kindle. It is easy to use, compatible with Overdrive, which is what I normally use from the public library. I regret not buying one sooner.

This Kindle is good although I cannot play games on it as I could with the Kindle I had before. This Kindle would be good for kids to use to read with. I also like the size of it...smaller than other Kindles. Easy to take any where with me...would buy another one later.

With the capability to have thousands of books at your fingertips, the Kindle is the best way to read. Lighter and smaller than most paperbacks, yet all your books in one compact reader. Awesome. No backlight though, so if you are using it at night, you will need light source.

This is a great example of a device that does one thing and does it very well. If you love to read, this is for you
