A great e reader , easy to buy books, easy to side load books, easy to borrow ebooks from library. Good screen. Good battery. It would be 5 stars if it had page turn buttons, and a Power on/off button anywhere but the bottom. One handed holding requires a finger under the bottom which occasionally will press the button and put the reader to sleep while you are reading. A little less likely when inside a case, but it is sleek and pleasant to hold and read without a case.

Been using Kindles and a few tablets for about ten years now. From strictly a reading device perspective this is super clear and crisp and I think the perfect size to handle easily in all of the different relaxing positions you read in different places (bed, recliner, car or plane, etc.). The battery life is a very nice plus. The two downsides to me are 1) price (now on sale at $99 to me is really the upper end of where I think something with this limited function should sell) and 2) the “touch” of the screen for turning the page. Bottom line though is I just bought a second one for the wife.

Wow! Coming from a cell phone with an app, this device works so much better. It's comfortable! It worked well on the beach in bright sunlight, and it works great in the dark. The controls are simple. It's light and well balanced. The battery lasts a really long time. I thoroughly enjoy using this.

Very easy on the eyes. Responsive, great battery life. This is to replace my previous 2012 model Kindle which is still working well but I decided to upgrade for more storage and battery life. Plus, since this new one is waterproof, I can use it while floating in the pool. I expect this one to last as long as the last.

This Kindle is great. Screen is amazing, great battery life, form factor and the color... My wife loves the color! Browsing the store is slow at times but we mainly buy our books on our phones or desktop! Only thing that I can say that would be a negative. No USB-C charging on the 19' model but it holds a charge really well so not a huge issue!

This is my 1st Kindle. I have bought them in the past for my wife, but never for myself. I never have liked reading books because my eyes would get tired and I would get headaches. So far, that problem has been eliminated. So much better to "read the book" than "watch the movie". I can read at night and do not have to worry about the lighting in the room. I find myself reading for hours before putting the Kindle down. I used to give my wife a hard time about reading too long, now it is the other way around. I was on vacation at the beach and I was able to just sit and read. Funny how things can change!

I have been extremely happy with this purchase. The size is ideal and easy on the eyes. Got 2 of these for me and my wife before our Alaska Cruise rather than take my Kindle Fire (which I need to charge daily). Used it all week, read 6 books and did not need to charge it until I got back home. Downloads are seamless once you are registered to your amazon account. I love the paperwhite quality and the backlight for night reading is great. I got the Kindle cover for both and it works great. Snaps shut and puts the device to sleep. Wakes up when you open it so you don't need to touch the power button. Font adjustment is excellent. My wife didn't need her glasses as she increased the font so she could read. I also really like the touch page turn feature. Just touch the screen and you turn the page. It works great. I also signed up for Kindle unlimited and have found some great books to read. A great value if you read a lot. Again, very happy with this purchase!

After buying one for myself least year, my son wanted one as well. We were concerned about it not being made for a 10yr old, but this newer model is even sturdier and now waterproof. We got it up and running in about 10 minutes and loaded him some Dogman books and he is in heaven. He reads it at night with the softer light setting and during the day. He likes the bookmark functions and really appreciates the ability to have multiple books in one handy reader. At the end of the day, it has a 10yr old boy reading because he wants to... what else needs to be said?!

The BEST e-reader. I’m an avid reader and I love this kindle so much. It’s backlight makes it perfect for reading any time of day. It’s also very lightweight so it’s not uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time.

Having access to the well of human knowledge and literature is such a joy. I’m reading more than I ever have since getting this Kindle. Adjusting text size to my liking is so nice and makes reading comfortable. The screen is great bc it resembles paper, which eliminates the eye strain usually accompanied with other screens. Adjusting brightness and the ability to switch to dark mode for late night reading are also really nice. Making highlights is also really great. The Kindle doesn’t have the click around speed of my smartphone, but this isn’t a big deal as most of my interaction on is simply reading. Would buy again.

I have always had trouble reading books on a regular basis until I decided to give the kindle paperwhite a try. It’s so much simpler to access the books I want, basically just open the Amazon app and pick a book and instantly gets delivered to the kindle. Reading the books is also more enjoyable because you can choose how large the font is, how bold, which style font and is even backlit for night time. I’m extremely happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it. Only thing I would change would be the on/off button located at the bottom and switch it to the top.

This is a great device! The ad version is not as annoying as I thought it would be. The paperwhite is a true pleasure to read from. It is easy on the eyes and feels like you are reading from a real book. The letters are crisp and clear. It is incredibly light weight and the battery lasts a long time between charging. I honestly cannot tell you how long because you forget after a while and suddenly remember you should charge it, but I've never been left without enough juice for reading. It is nice, too, to get the cheaper digital copy of books versus the physical copy. I bought this for my wife who is an avid book reader. She long preferred physical books, but she likes this device a lot.

the best e-reader i have ever used hands down. The value is amazing with this product. the screen is lit from top down, so it doesnt damage your eyes when using it in the dark. The screen looks like real book paper and ink when brightness is set up properly. Battery life is unreal. lasts weeks. You can download books from wifi then read them wherever you want without wifi. Its great. I have nothing negative to say here. Buy one, you wont regret it.

I lost my Kindle just before Christmas and bought this one as a replacement. It works just like my old one, but I am enjoying the smaller size and lighter feel. I love my Kindle and really felt like I couldn't go a day without it. I still like books, but I actually prefer reading on my Kindle now. Easier to hold than a traditional book when my arthritis is acting up. I also love that I can adjust the light level so easily at different times of the day and I love it for reading in bed without keeping my husband awake!

I've owned two Kindle Paperwhites prior to this one and I sold or returned those, but this one is a keeper. The Paperwhites that I previously owned did not have a flush, one-piece front--the bezels were slightly raised above the touchscreen. I did not like this because every time I pressed the touchscreen (even if just gently), I felt that I was pressing the screen IN, because it was a second piece that seemed behind the bezels (kind of like a picture frame, and I was pressing the picture inward). The cheaper, non-"Paperwhite" regular Kindle has this exact set up (like a picture in a picture frame). I'm a very voracious reader and I love this Paperwhite Kindle. The back of it is a smooth yet rubbery-feeling material that makes it nice to have a good hold on while reading with one hand. It is so light I can hold it for hours on end while reading. I can read peacefully at night without disturbing my husband's sleep because I can turn all the lights off and still read in the dark. I think Amazon finally got it right.

I simply love this Kindle Paperwhite 8GB! It is waterproof. I had the same one for over eight years, and it finally died. I was so pleased with it and its longevity, that I wanted another one. Although this one took a little bit of time to learn the new options that were available, I am so pleased. The battery life is very good. It is very easy on my eyes as well. I highly recommend this and felt for the price, it was a great value!

After thinking about it for a long time I finally made the switch from physical books. I've read ebooks on my iPad previously but found it was a bit heavy to hold for long periods of time and was hard on the eyes. Reading with the Paperwhite feels natural. It's very light and doesn't give me headaches when I read for extended periods of time. Would recommend.

Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader has performed well. Easy to use and read with this device. Not hard on your eyes and can readily change settings. I like it’s size and lighter weight. I also like how you can highlight words and can access dictionary, translation, or Wikipedia for definitions or more information. Only slight negative I my have, and this may be the case with all e-readers, is difficulty in highlighting footnote asterisks to get the footnote information as you’re reading.

I love using the paperwhite. It is lightweight and easy to operate and a breeze to purchase new books.
