The AMBIR photo scanner is an easy to use photo scanner. SETUP: Setup was simple. It only requires a single USB connection and no external power. It does have USB-C which is nice for newer devices, and it includes a USB-C to USB adapter if you don't have those connections. APP INSTALL: The app isn't digitally signed so Apple devices will have to bypass some warnings to install. That's not a deal breaker, but does require some additional steps which feels like a miss for the target audience of those wanting a simple, easy to use photo scanner. SCAN QUALITY: It scans at up to 600dpi. Again, this feels like lower than it should be for a photo scanner. Many All in One devices have much higher scan quality. FEEDING: The feeder mechanism works well, but is not quick. They claim 3 seconds for a 4x6 at 300dpi. You have to feed a single picture at a time. OVERALL: Honestly, I wanted to like this, but had a hard time doing so. At a $250 MSRP, it feels like it should be faster, scan at higher resolution, and have the ability to feed in multiple pictures in a single pass. However, if you want something that is easy to use and only requires a single cord to operate, this is an okay choice. It'll sit on the shelf in my office and I know I can grab it to scan in a photo if I don't want to put it on a flatbed scanner.

The best way to preserve and organize old pics!

This photo scanner helped me take boxes and boxes of old photos and organize them in a way I didn't think was possible. I have seen other photo scanners that just save photos with file name, dump them on your hard drive.... and that is it. The Ambir scanner came with software to help sort, label, tag people in the photo and much more. The best comparison I can make is that the things you can do with your pics on your cell phone can now be done with your old boxes of photos. Finally, a product that make it worth spending the time to preserve these old pics/memories!
