When it was time for a new budget gaming PC build, I was torn between going Intel like I normally did in the past or finally jumping over to Team Red and giving AMD another shot after a lot of years of being away. The Ryzen 5 7600x can easily be found in the $200ish price range and this thing is a monster for the price. It may only have 6 cores and 12 threads but if you are looking for a purely gaming PC with some light video editing etc, this thing performs great. The cores are super fast at stock clocks and there is quite a bit of room to go with some proper cooling and overclocking. I was looking for a strictly gaming PC with this as I do have a workstation PC and did not need to go overkill for the CPU. This is paired with 32GB of 6000MHz DDR5 ram and I have been pleasantly surprised with this when editing videos and photos and find myself doing more tasks on my gaming PC instead of transferring to the workstation. Core count is not as necessary currently for PC gaming but core clock speeds are and this thing won't let you down for gaming. Also, don't worry about bottlenecks and pair this with any GPU you want, you won't be disappointed for the price and performance. It's a super fast chip and for gaming, you can't go wrong if your budget is tight.

Honestly the best value CPU to get started on AM5

It handles gaming and productivity tasks just fine. Sure maybe it isn’t the highest core count or highest rated speed. However you can run it with an affordable air cooler and not sacrifice performance. It also runs far lower wattage than most intel chips under real world usage. AM5 is also going to be around for years so you’ll be able to upgrade from this without buying another motherboard.

Paired with a 3060, this chip is capable of so many frames, I’m so glad I upgraded from my old workstation. And the price is spectacular for the performance compared to intel cpus.

Paired with 32gb ddr5 6000 cl 30 and NO GPU this thing RIPS. I get 400+ fps in minecraft with the settings maxed, about 100 in overwatch with medium settings, and still playable fps in Helldivers 2 low settings. I messed around in blender (still no gpu) and was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up. General compute is super snappy, and for only $230 this thing is great for a budget, new cpu. Only 4 stars because I wish it came with a cooler I did have to buy my own.

This CPU was an impulse buy, I really wanted to upgrade from the AM4 socket, and boy do I love this chip. It's not any kind of 7800X3D (those were around $800 when I bought this), AND I got this for a discount at around $170. Fantastic chip, super fast at editing and any game you throw at it. I matched it with my 7800XT and I get over 100 FPS at max settings with literally any game I play. Literally unmatched price-to-performance chip. Highly recommend if you're looking for a budget chip that won't break the bank (especially if you find it on a discount).

Upgraded sim racing PC from a 5.1Ghz 8700k system and gained a ton of FPS in heavy CPU tracks like Sebring and Daytona on iRacing. With my 6800xt and 4k I now never drop below 90fps where before I would see frame rates in the 40’s or lower on parts of the tracks mentioned above. I plan to upgrade to the 9800x3d later but for now I’m happy and may not need to upgrade.

Upgraded my computer with a new Gigabyte motherboard that needed an AM5 desktop cpu... Being a loooong time Gigabyte devote and AMD lover... the Ryzen processor was as not brainer... Got it all put back together, hit the start button and BAM... just the speed the system booted up was amazing... everything worked at seemingly super speed... the processor only modoestly heated up until system was all installed and working flawlessly... then cooled down in seconds.... My long time affair with AMD is still in effect!!!!
