I was amazed when I viewed this fantastic movie for the 1st time. I was aware of the ending from a previous TV presentation about the movie, but it still didn't prepare me for the shocking end to a "true American Hero". The way the producer was able to interweave the back and forth between the action and the home life was very well presented. As a veteran of another controversial war I can understand the feelings that this film generated for numerous fellow Americans that couldn't quite understand the harsh treatment/cold shoulder upon returning from action. The actors truly made this life story of an American Icon become very true to life filled with love, hate, and relief that all involved felt about the war and love one's at home. I didn't expect to see such an honest presentation that didn't hold anything back, which is almost as always the case when making a film like this.

American Sniper is an incredible film! I got an immediate feeling with the man and his views on his duty to America. We are blessed, as a country, by men and women who sign on to his creed. The film also portrayed the strains that were placed on his wife and family. The tragic end that became his fate was handled deftly. The change in America from WWII to the nasty wars of today was an underlying theme. Our soldiers too often are unknown to us unless we know them personally. The impact upon their families and friends is unchanged, but most of us know nothing beyond the daily news. I can distantly recall rationing during the waning days of WWII. There were times when my mom might have the "right" to buy flour, sugar, etc., but there was none on the shelf in the market. She had to make do. That has not been our experience at any time since.

I honestly cant say enough about this movie. I remember driving down the freeway one day and seeing the overpasses covered with flags & emergency vehicles. I had no idea what it was for at the time. Ive never cried so hard at the end of a movie realising what that day on the freeway meant. I love my country & the men & women who protect it.. This to me is the most emotionally connecting patriotic film that relates to how life is now for our troops. In support of the studio & the family of this fallen hero, I actually bought it as xmas gifts for almost everyone in my family for xmas that year.. I really can't explain how that movie touched me & the reaction of the american people. GOD Bless America

American Sniper was the best picture of a story about one brave American, Chris Kyle, who fought to keep our soldiers safe from the enemy in the field of battle. It took a lot of guts to go over not once but four tours of duty. It also shows the effects on the families and the men after they come back from the time spent fighting the enemy. I highly recommend this movie to all your libraries. The best buy edition has one extra behind the scenes of the movie that are worth the extra dollars. Get it now while it's on sales this week for the same price as the blu ray version that has only two making of the movie. Either version is good if you can't get the extra clip. The movie looks great in blu ray too even better than in theaters.

as good of a movie as I expected it would be. Shows the toll on the soldiers and the families during and after four tours of duty. Not only is Chris hunting, but he is also hunted by enemy sniper, couldn't get off my couch for the entire movie. Especially great if you have at least a 5.1 surround, you might be dodging bullets! After reading hundreds of pros & cons about this movie from people who only saw this in the theater, I would highly suggest buying the movie, if not just for the special features and commentaries from Chris' wife, the writer, producers and director Clint Eastwood, your opinions may change and any negative thoughts about this true story may be quelled.

I admit I had a different idea of what this movie was going to be about. No politics as I expected. This movie was bloody without being ridiculous and portrayed war as real as you can on film. I grew up in Texas and I knew these guys. The moral character portrayed was that I was taught and ridicule was for those that couldn't live up to it. You were expected to put your life in jeopardy to defend you brother. Your neighbor. And especially your family. This is the most realistic portrayal of being an American as I was taught that I have ever seen. Every American should see this film and feel short if they do not measure upto this character. Thank you Clint Eastwood!

Based upon the book and life of Chris Kyle, this is an inside view to the real life of this American hero. Directed by Clint Eastwood, this movie does deviate from the book and does "Hollywood'ize" from time to time. Thus this is not an exact depiction of Kyle from his autobiography, but it is still highly recommended. The actual videos of the funeral procession and service are tremendously touching. When I first saw this movie in theatres, NO ONE, not a soul, made a sound as the movie ended. Instead, everyone was somber and respectful as though they too were at the funeral service themselves. Still wonder why Hollywood never gave this movie any recognition...

American Sniper is one of the best war movies to come out in recent years. A harrowing look at the brutality of war as well as the equally brutal return to civilian life. Chris Kyle was a true American patriot and hero who sacrificed so much of himself to protect others. The movie differs slightly from his autobiography at some points but for the most part it is spot on. Bradley Cooper's performance is a tour de force as he captures the heart and soul of Chief Kyle. With Memorial Day around the corner you owe it to yourself to buy this and remember those who gave their last full measure of devotion for their country.

This film was based on the "American Sniper" autobiography book written by Chris Kyle who was served four tours of duty before being killed before this movie was released. The movie goes into his life before, during and after his service and how it shaped and changed his life and the wife of his wife and those around him. It doesn't go and try to influence someone's on whether or not they support the war, it tells about one mans life. The acting and the storyline is really excellent and will make you think and look at the people who serve our country will a new respect. I would highly recommend this film to buy.

When I first heard about this movie, more specifically I who would be playing Chris Kyle, I was deadest against seeing it. As a combat vet myself, I assumed that Bradley Cooper was going to ruin it. Not due to being a bad actor, but he's more of a Comedy Actor instead of Action/Drama. Thankfully I was completely wrong. Bradley did an amazing job with the role, and it felt like it should fit. With Clint Eastwood directing, you'd hope so, and it does. The movie does a pretty great job at depicting not only combat, but some of the struggles service members face after returning from a deployment. a must see!

I saw this movie twice in the theater and once at home! As a Veteran, I loved that they show an accurate portrayal of what a lot of us go through after being in combat or protecting this country! It also shows the other side of the coin with what it does to the families back home! Bradley Cooper hits it right on the head as Chris "The Legend" Kyle! He saved the lives of so many of the men that he was sent to protect! A must see for Veterans, family members of Veterans, film buffs, Clint Eastwood fans and Bradley Cooper fans! It's a deeply moving film that deals with an even uglier side of war: Coming Home!

This is one of the best Military movies I have seen. I think the movie did an excellent job of letting those of us who have not experienced something like this get an accurate feel of what it must be like to experience an environment of war. Not only that but to be in a position to have to make life and death choices in an instant and have to live with those choices. I have the utmost respect for the men and women who serve and protect our country and after watching this movie that respect was reaffirmed. This is a very emotional movie so have plenty of tissues on hand!

Only about 7% of Americans serve in are armed forces at any given time, leaving 93% that have absolutely no idea what so ever the cost paid for them to seat back and enjoy all the freedom that they have. This movie shows what the people paying for that freedom must go through. Kris Kyle as a sniper went far above and beyond. I am one of the 7%, and although everyone does'nt serve in combat, this film gives the 93% and up front safe seat to the daily heartships and stress are sniper's and troops have to endure. This film is well worth watching several times - 6 STARS!

This movie presents one of our true heroes in very realistic accounts; his home/family life, his military career, and his exceptional skills. I don't usually buy movies with violent material in it, but did anyway since this is a true story. I've already watched it a couple dozen times, and in spite of the unfortunate way it ended, it's the most amazing story of a true hero. The characters are presented in a very natural relationship, and the acting is superb, not to mention how "hot" Bradley Cooper is in this movie. Excellent buy with both Blu-ray and DVD discs.
