I love Ubiquiti products, whether you are a basic user or advanced techie, they always bring solid, reliable performance. Bought this Ubiquiti AmpliFi intstant router for my daughter's house - easy setup, great whole house coverage (2 floors, ~2100 square feet), works great for office work, video streaming, whatever. One tip - it can take a few minutes for the satellite unit to connect - thought there might be a problem, but the link came up after 3-4 minutes and works flawlessly. This is a little more expensive than some other options, but more than worth it for the quality. Don't hesitate - go AmpliFi

I work in the IT industry with a company that heavily relies on equipment from Ubiquiti (AmpliFi's Parent Company/Commercial grade equipment) and it's a surprising joy to use. Their devices are extremely relied and priced phenomenally in the commercial sector, so I was overjoyed to see them getting into the home/consumer sector as well. This device was perfect for my needs seeing as my place had just okay wireless signal (signal strength or "bars") with another single unit wireless TP-Link router before but when I'd test the speeds or try to game on my Xbox in another room, the connection quality (connection speeds, ping drops, etc.) was very spotty and inconsistent, so I had to do something to get more reliable wireless service in my house. The setup is super easy on these devices if you're comfortable with downloading and installing mobile apps on your phone (I work heavily with enterprise networking, so this setup was cake for me but my girlfriend who hates downloading and installing apps might not love the setup process as much). The instructions included in the box are quick and easy, though their 2 minute setup promise might be a little overzealous. Regardless, it's a smooth process and worked well. Their app is actually a pleasure to use and doesn't try to push a bunch of other "Family" or "Security" subscriptions on you, as I've come to notice is common in other home routers sold now. The two units are very understated and out of the way. It matches up perfectly with my Philips Hue home hub. The underlighting of the unit is cool looking for nerds but completely optional for people who don't want that attention (it allows you to time the lighting or turn it off, a nice and unexpected feature). The primary units touch screen is an interesting addition but I'd be a liar if I said it's not a bit unnecessary. Typically, if my home wireless is experiencing issues, I jump into their Amplifi app to use their super useful Diagnose function or I just restart the modem or router (which, thankfully, has not needed to be restarted for anything but firmware upgrades since I've purchased it). The touchscreen shows same information that you can obtain in the app but if you are one to lose your phone often, I could see it being more useful. Most important of all, the thing just WORKS GREAT. The wireless signal is consistent and fast throughout the house. I work from home on this unit for a minimum 40 hours a week, then hop off my desktop and into video games, HD streaming, etc. for the rest of the night with numerous devices. There's Rokus, Amazon Echos, iPads, Macs, Surfaces, Xbox, etc. on the network and they all work flawless. I don't have to baby this thing, hop onto a nerdy IT adventure, or play around with the network configurations like I'm at work; it just runs solid. My girl's new laptop was experiencing constant drops with our old wireless router that I was contributing to her wireless NIC or drivers before but that issue vanished once the new Amplifi device was installed (I've seriously never seen anything like that). My only super minor complaint is I wish the back of main router had 4 LAN ports like their other units do but I already had network switches around to absolve that issue. I imagine most average home users are mostly on laptops, iPads, phones, smart TVs, etc. now but for some houses that still keep a family desktop or two around, those extra LAN ports could be crucial. I do give them an extra star for having a LAN port on the primary and secondary device though because some of these mesh networking units are completely wireless now. The overall on this unit: If the device meets your needs, BUY IT! Don't let the price of more expensive units seem to belittle this one and don't let the cheap stuff burn in a few months. This device is price right in the middle-tier of mesh networking units and I imagine it's perfect for most modern home networks.

Bought this to get more range than the router/modem combo AT&T gave us. It was easy to install and works well but on the wireless node used to extend the wifi signal cuts your speed in half. We have 300 mbps service, we get average of 340mbps at the main unit but the wireless node only gives us an average of 140 mbps. I spoke to Ubiquity about the issue and they did some trouble shooting but in the end said it was working as it should and if i wanted full speed at the node i would have to connect the node to the main unit using ethernet cable. I do not have the means to do this.

The AmpliFi mesh wifi router and endpoint are easy to setup and manage. You will need the app downloaded on your smartphone (android for me). it will provide you with connection information, easy to use device management for groups or individual devices when you feel like something is impacting your connection. There is also a guest wifi option that I haven't enabled, your mileage may vary with that feature as I can't speak to it. Coverage in a 2k sqft home (two story) is good but I'm heavily setup to one side of the house, you may get even better coverage if your wifi setup is nearer the middle of your home.

After moving around the main node and my modem, I was able to fully cover my house and barn. Modem and main node are in the basement, which reaches up to the second story and covers the whole house. I then placed the mesh extender in the barn about 60-ish feet away. Able to stream and game with no lag. The app makes set-up a breeze and gives a lot of customizable options. Overall very happy. Just interested on seeing the lifespan of the newer mesh systems!

I’m new to mesh router systems, but I did quite a bit of research before landing on AMPLIFI’s system. So far it has been an amazing experience. SUPER simple and fast setup. Much easier than any other Wi-Fi router I have ever used. The app provides a lot of control and makes it a breeze to customize. If you have the resources to buy something much higher end, I’m sure it would be worth it. But this system is worth every cent.

The Amplifi system has proven to be the best investment I've made to date for my internet connection at home. I had previously purchased an Amplifi system for my place of work and had the easy-to-use app. The purchase for my home was a no-brainer. This system is simple to use, easy on the eyes, and worry-free. You can't go wrong with this system!

Really easy to setup. I was up and running within 5 minutes with great, intuitive instructions on my phone through the Amplifi app. Good range, but not the fastest router out there, but to be expected for the price range.

This mesh Wi-Fi system was easy to set up and provides speeds to my network switch equal to hard-wiring on the 2.4GHz setting. I've had no connectivity issues at all, and the ability to control the devices connected is an excellent feature, as well, especially if you have children.

This router slaps. I’m really, really dumb and I was still able to set this thing up easily. The app to control it is very intuitive and shows you who is using your WiFi at any given time. It’s got a great coverage area and also has a little helper thing that you can plug in to expand the area.

I want to be careful with this review so I don't discourage anyone that it could be perfect for. I think that this would be a fantastic unit for anyone that wants easy setup, lower cost and has a really small place, like an apartment. It will certainly work for a small to medium home.

This is a great wifi system, the mesh was dead simple to set up. I set it up in an almost 3000 Square foot house and I have wifi in every corner and even outside to some wifi light bulbs. At 180 it is a no brainer in the price range.

This AmplifI Instant mesh system is ridiculously ”easy” to install, easy to monitor signal strength on my iPhone, and covers a 3600 square-foot structure as described. The signal strength to the one single mesh node is 80%...It seems to work perfectly well with a SimpliSafe alarm system which requires a 2.4 GHz signal for the cameras and the video doorbell to operate properly. Within the walls of the office we haven’t lost a beat. It’s solid as a rock in terms of Wi-Fi signal. Several previous powerful routers failed miserably compared to this mesh system. I highly recommend it so far. I’ve had it for about a month. Again no drop outs and no dead spots. My iPads now function seamlessly and rapidly with this single node mesh system. I say try it. You’ll like it.

Got this to replace an older router since I figure 10 years is long enough! The AmpliFi app is amazingly simple to use and it does d a pretty good job getting you up and running. I wish that they had better analytics in the app (like, it shows internet usage "running up" on devices which is totally not accurate) but for the price and the intended audience, it's fine. If this is the same app for their high end routers too though, then it's a shame. Anyway, if you're looking for an easy to set up WiFi mesh system that's small and out of the way, and you have a smart phone, it's a great little system!

I end up returned this units because all I can get is nice router, and easy setup. Speedtest only haft speed of my current router that I want to replace (I paid $5/month rent to Spectrum). Cover not go outside my house. The Spectrum router wifi gives me around 460 to 480 Mbps; after connect to these mesh wifi I got around 170 to 250 Mbps. If I walk outside only few feet, I only get 5 to 20 Mbps. and signal goes down worst. I give it 3 stars because its name "Amplifi" and this company make good products further more it still better than some $300s or $400s Linsys.

Setup was really easy with the app but that isn't for everyone. Very good coverage and speed. Added a third instant router for maximum coverage for a two level home. The app will display the signal strength between the main router to the other meshes and you can test internet speed using the app or reboot the system. Much better than the discontinued Luma mesh system, but it is lacking the parental control. Never used Eero or Orbi mesh systems so I can't say AmpliFi's mesh system is better or not.
