    Improved Picture Quality

This edition of An American Werewolf in London is the one to own. The picture quality is superior to the previous version. Scenery and close ups of the actors reveal more detail than I thought was possible. David's horribly torn face are more gruesome and very lifelike which proves how skillful the makeup was applied. The hi-def format often reveals imperfections and seams in makeup, but not here. If you don't own An American Werewolf in London on blu-ray, buy this edition. If you are a fan of the movie and own the previous version, buy this one.

An American Werewolf In London is a beloved horror film and any guru of the genre is likely to have seen it (and multiple times at that). It, along with many other horror films, have more than one version available on blu-ray and this new release is the better of the two. The other edition, called the "full moon version", while a nice blu-ray transfer in of itself, is not as well-done as this new "restored edition" so, if you're after some great werewolf action on blu-ray, this specific copy is the one to get.

This film is amazing and should be in anyone's collection who appreciates horror with a hint of comedy. This is John Landis and special etc Artist Rick Baker in thier prime. The transfer looks great as it looks like film. The photographic grain is there due to the stock it was filmed on and isn't due to dirt or scratches. It looks as good as it did when it was first shown in theatres. The special features from the DVD are there as well as a couple of extras. This is more than worth the asking price.

I remembered watching this movie as a child and it left an indelible mark on me. The transformation scene has yet to be surpassed; CGI just doesn't have the same physical presence as actual latex does. The script is intelligent with self aware characters, placing it above your typical horror film. The special features included peel back the movie production to give a glimpse of what John Landis, Jim Baker, and company did to truly make this timeless film. A great purchase whether watching for the first time or revisting an old favorite.

    A Classic Werewolf Movie

This is one of the best werewolf movies ever made, rates right up there with the old Universal Wolf Man movie in my book. The acting in the movie was quite good but the special effects for the transformation scenes is what really helped put this movie on the map... I can remember seeing him transform for the first time and being in awe at the magic I was seeing on the movie screen. If you haven't seen this one yet and you like werewolf movies, check this out!

One of my all-time favorite movies! A cult classic that I am not ashamed to say I have double and triple dipped on over the years. This latest release offers better video quality and does not disappoint. If you a fan you have to take the leap and buy this version as it is the best quality dvd you will find on the market. I get goose bumps just thinking about this movie. Far better than any vampire or zombie flick you might be considering watching.

I bought the original "Full Moon Edition" blu-ray release of the movie back in 2009. This release is the same exact "Full Moon Edition" but with steelbook packaging with icon artwork. There is no reason to upgrade from the original blu-ray release unless you are like me, a sucker for steelbooks!! Plus they are at a great price right now. I got mine for $9.99. Also buy the way, these new Universal "Iconic Art Series" steelbooks do not come with digital copies of the movies.

I was hesitant to buy another copy of a film that I already have three other copies of, but since it is my favorite movie, I decided to get it. I was not disappointed. The quality of the resolution is exactly as advertised. The sound is a little bit better from the Full Moon Edition, but not by much. Overall, a great purchase, especially when it was only ten dollars. If you love this movie as much as I do, you will want to buy this version.

Classic movie with a story and special effects that have stood the test of time. Sometimes high-definition can ruin 80's movies when exposed to the higher resolution images, but this movie fares very well, and for the most part it relies on suspense more than effects anyway. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it yet, or are thinking of upgrading to Blu-Ray, the extras are great too.

Universal has done a nice job updating and improving the video compared to the previous 2009 Blu-ray version. Outside of that, it appears to be the same audio, and the same special features from the past Blu-ray. For those of you that own the 2009 Blu-ray and are considering a double-dip, it probably depends on how much you love the film. At least Universal and Best Buy have priced the new version at a great price.

I enjoyed watching An American Werewolf in London on Blu-Ray. As with all films presented in the Blu-Ray format, the visuals really come through. The extras on the disc are nice to see. I really liked the interviews with the film makers and actors. Some great stuff there.

If you have skipped the other blu ray version of this, jump on the wagon and buy this one. The restoration is nicely done with nice bright colors and the right amount of red in the gore. Sound can be a bit fuzzy in some scenes but the spots are brief and it's still clear enough to be easily understood. Much better picture quality than the older restoration and the old original DVD release.

My girl's second favorite horror film. I picked it up so I could finally see it (killer price off the shelf for blue ray). I was pleasantly surprised to find that while parts of it were a little campy, they seemed to work well, and overall was a really enjoyable movie. I haven't enjoyed a scary movie in a while, and it was nice to be able to. Would definitely recommend picking it up and checking it out.

Great special effects, some dark humor, and the classic look of early '80's defines this horror classic. Add in director Jonathan Landis and you have a timeless telling of the classic werewolf myth. Hands down one of the best transformation scenes in any werewolf movie. Enjoy this movie with the lights turned off and the moon shining bright!!

YEARS AGO... I bought this movie on DVD. I have a pioneer blue ray player (which is great) but the translation to my pioneer “elite” tv is a little... meh. Now I have the blue ray of the movie and WOW!!! brought me back to the old days. Crisp and clear sound is great. The sound—- the sound of the werewolf in the moors... Holy crap!!!

A Classic Horror Comedy from the Director of Anima

I saw this movie way back when and remember enjoying it very much, so when I saw it offered as a Deal of the Day--and in a steelbook edition, no less--I had to get it. It holds up fairly well. The special effects seem a bit quaint these days in an endearingly cheesy way, but this was before the advent of computer graphics. David Naughton (whatever happened to him?) is an adequate lead, but his partner Griffin Dunne steals the movie. Some good laughs and ghoulish humor. It's too bad director John Landis' career would soon run off the rails with the "Twilight Zone" debacle.

An American Werewolf in London is a 1981 British-American horror comedy film written and directed by John Landis, and starring David Naughton, Jenny Agutter, and Griffin Dunne. The film's plot concerns two young American men, David Kessler (played by Naughton) and Jack Goodman (played by Dunne), attacked by a werewolf on a backpacking holiday in England. With Jack killed, David is taken to a London hospital, where his disturbing apparitions of his deceased friend informs him that he is a werewolf and will transform at the next full moon.[4] Filming took place in London, Surrey, and Wales.

This is a great Horror/Comedy from the early 80's. I had not seen it in more than a decade but, I'm glad that I picked this up for a reasonable price ($7.99) for the Halloween season. The transfer from Universal is sub par and not quite up to blu ray standards so, keep that in mind if you are a hardcore videophile. It does look better than DVD,but you can tell that Universal put very little to no effort into this release. The sound quality is decent for a film of this era, just don't expect it to sound like a modern action flick. If you like films with a great story you should definitely check out this classic.

long before cgi there was the painstaaking effects done actually live and the effects in this film still are great today, the film has a great story with a tragic ending the transfer is really good considering it was shot on film 35 years ago, the sound mix is also good but it was originally stereo so they just digitally enhanced it worth a pick up
