Customers are saying

Customers praise the Wii Speak compatibility feature of the game, saying it makes communication easier and enhances the overall gaming experience. They also enjoy the variety of activities available, such as shopping, fishing, and decorating their houses. However, some customers find the gameplay repetitive after an extended period of time, and feel that the graphics, music, and plot could be improved.

Too Addicting - Can't get enough

Since buying this game, out Cable TV has not been on at all. Chores have been neglected and we don't get enogh sleep. We spend way to much time as a family and not enough time fighting, arguing and eating. LOL! Kidding sorta, but this game is fun for all ages (kids who can read) and beware that it's so addicting. We have started acting out the game in real life. It's so much fun. I wish everyone I knew had it so we could visit each others towns.

You can only play once player at a time. If you are connecting with a friend online, it may take a couple tries to connect. Sometimes it may not connect at all. I lost my connect with my friends online a couple times. When this happens, you lose your progress for that time you played. I never had this problem with any other online games. Maybe it's the Wii server. Other than that, I love this game. I haven't got board with it yet.

Dissapointed with the lack of improvement

I think this game has excellent graphics and I really like the new features, such as the opportunities to visit the other city for shopping, design your own constellations, and use your own Mii as your player. But there are quite a few things that I did not like about this game. I didn't think the game was very kid-friendly because of the way the animals often insulted you. I wasn't offended by it, but I'm sure any younger kid (4-9) who might play this game would be. But other than that, this game is okay for children to play, as long as they have a long attention span. My reasoning for that is because I was bored with this game after the first hour of exploring. I thought it was much too similar to Animal Crossing Wild World for the Nintendo DS. I've been trying to sell this game for a while with no luck. It's definitely not a huge improvement from Wild World at all, even if the two are on seperate consoles. The new features weren't enough to call this game an improvement in my opinion. But, if you've never played Animal Crossing Wild World before, then go ahead and buy this game because you've got nothing to be dissapointed in. The dissapointment for me is mainly coming from the lack of improvement in Animal Crossing since the last version of the game. But in my opinion, Animal Crossing Wild World for DS was a much better buy for me. I also didn't think there was much of a storyline to this game, but that's not usually something I care about when looking for a game to play. I usually only play games based on the graphics and how fun other people are saying it is. As you can see, I didn't think this game was very fun compared to Wild World. City Folk wasn't really something I hadn't seen before being a player of both WW and CF. Okay, enough of comparing Wild World and City Folk, now you can make your descision based on the reviews if you'll buy this or not. Good luck with whatever purchases you choose to make, and have fun either way!

    A great game for kids

This is a very cute game. I got it for my kids and they just seem to love it. It's great because you can make up to four characters. So my kids just take turns playing the game with their own character. How you can decorate your house and customize your characters seems to get my kids excited. It would be nicer if you could customize how your character looked from the start instead of having your character made by answering questions. The game is also too addicting. It's all my kids play all day.

overall this is a great game! the only thing bad about it is that it takes 580,00 "bells" to pay off the final level of your house and it takes forever to do so! but, after you play the game for that long if you are new to Animal Crossing, it gets boring, even for a veteran like myself i have/played all the Animal Crossings and after about 6 months they get boring and i just drop them for a while then pick them up later, but over all it is pretty good! great job nintendo!

    Another great Animal Crossing

This is a great game where you are a person who moves into a town full of animals (they act just like people). In this game you do normal things like shopping, fishing, collecting bugs, and going to the city. These things might seem to be dull on paper but in the game they are extremely fun. The game is played in real time so if it is night, then it is night on the game. Also the game has holidays (like New Year’s, Halloween, and Christmas) so in order to do everything in the game, you have to play it for a long time (which is great). The only bad thing is that, for those of you who have Wild World, it is kind of a repeat, although now you can go to the city and use Wii Speak. Overall this game is great and I recommend it to everyone.

This game is almost an exact copy of the old Animal Crossing on Gamecube. The items and some missions are the same. the other negative thing about this is that it might be kind of boring when you don't have any friends who also have this game, meaning you're by yourself on the game. No friends. Anyways, this game is really cool because you can use it with Wii Speak, and communicate with other online friends by simply taliking! I only suggest you buy this game if you have friends to play online with.

Awesome game you'll spend hours on

Just to say, I don't actually own the Animal Crossing: City Folk wii game. But i have played it so many times at my friends house I practically own it. And I'm getting it tomorrow. First off, you'll spend hours and hours playing it and not even notice. the background music is basically unnoticable. You get to shop and go to the city. Get new hairstyles. And in your town you can dig up fossils, fish, catch bugs, design your house, pay off your mortgage, sell things, collect fruit, collect flowers, talk to people in town, donate to the museum, write messages on the bulletin board, and catch a bus to the city. Also if you buy the wii speak (A MUST!) you can talk to all your friends even if they're not at your house. the wii speak works perfectly. it's crystal clear and you can even hear people in the background! It's really fun to visit other people's towns too. So i suggest you ask your friends to get it too. You don't really feel that urge to quit the game because it doesn't really become boring. But it is kind of hard to find your house. I wish you could just click on the map and be transported to wherever you wanted to go. Um, the nunchuck isn't the best way to move. Sometimes you just go in circles! Otherwise everything about the game is fantastic. A few hours will have gone by and you won't notice.

    Hours of fun!

I never played the previous Animal Crossing games, so my experience with Animal Crossing City Folk is as a beginner to the series. That having been said, I do not experience the disappointment I hear from players of the previous games that little has changed. The interaction with characters, other Wii friends online, activities, player and house customization all keep me entertained for far longer than I would have expected. I don't even realize how much time has passed while playing. The graphics are fun, the background music is subtle so as not to be annoying. There are contests on particular calender days/holidays, challenges catching rare fish/bugs, digging for fossils. There is so much to do here or unlock I bought the game guide. My one complaint would probly effect gamers playing at night. The stores close after 10pm which leaves you unable to purchase or sell items. In the end, it forced me to change the internal game clock so that I could move ahead in the game when playing it at night. One more thing, it is not exactly a complaint but when you visit the salon to change your hairstyle you don't customize it yourself. (Which I was expecting). Instead you answer a short series of questions about your choice in style and based on your answers the game changes your hairstyle for you. Surprise!

Fun and addicting game with one small problem

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a very fun game that can become very addicting. You and your family will want to play as much as you can just to see which neighbor is outside; which fish / bug is available. As there are no set goals, you are free to play this game anyway you want (fish all day; or collect money to expand your house; or send letters to your neighbors). The beauty of this game is watching your town change throughout the day (the sun sets and the stars come out) and throughout the year (snow falls; leaves change; spring comes with new insects) - all in real time. If I had to summarize this game - this game is like the Harvest Moon series (daily chores; make friends; never ending play) with a lot more items to collect (there are over 100 neighbors to meet; over 500 pieces of furniture to collect; numerous fish, bugs, and fossils to collect for your museum). There are two drawbacks. The first is that the game does occur in real time – so if you are out on Saturday night, you will never get to see the very adorable performance of a singing dog. Or if you work late, the stores might be closed before you can play. The good news is that you can adjust the time when you start to address this time problem. The second drawback is not so easily corrected. The more you and your family play - the more your grass / snow will disappear. I would suggest researching this problem on the many boards that have been started about this problem. So while you can play this game anyway you want, there are consequences as this can reduce your once beautiful town to a town with only plain brown dirt and no grass.

I love this game. All my friends have this game, and its fun visiting everyone's town and exploring what's in that town, and all the cool events that go on, and rare items you can achieve. Fishing is so fun! and my whole family plays! It gets addicting, though. I didn't get the one that comes with wii speak, but I'm buying it seperately soon. Its so much easier than clicking letters.

Paying off bills, collecting fossils, fishing and decorating your house is a blast. It can get very addicting. its easy for kids and adults to both like and play this game.

This game is, as I said in the title, surprisingly fun. I wasnt sure if I would actually like this game because I thought it wouldnt entertain me, but I play this game for hours on end. There's a lot to do: going shopping, going fishing, going to the city, or even catching bugs. It's a really cute game.

We have had a blast with this game since we bought it. The only problem we have is turning it off and going to bed. It does require reading so our youngest dtr has problems with some of the words, but my husband and I even enjoy watching what the kids characters are doing on the game.

So far I am not that impressed with City Folk. From the commercial it seemed so much more advanced than the Animal Crossing for Gamecube, but right now I am finding myself doing the same things. It was only about 5 years ago I played the GC one non-stop, but after about 2 hours of this one, I feel like it's more of a burden to play. I feel like I'm playing the same old Animal Crossing, just starting from scratch now. It's not a bad game at all for gamers new to the Animal Crossing games, but I feel like I already played this one. I'll give it more time before I eBay it. I hope once I get further in the game it'll look more like a "City" than the same old boring town.

We bought this game for Christmas after reading such great reviews and let me tell you they we right. We love it, My husband, and my two older kids (9, 4) enjoy playing, however my two year old doesn't play...yet. But loves to watch us play. The kids love to fish and shop and interact with all of the charchters around the town. There always seems to be something going on. Fishing tournaments, bug catching, things that kids like to do. We also bought the guide for $20, that was a little over priced but gave us great tips and prices on things. It is something we also use to track the fish and bugs we have caught. I have to say it has been our new family favorite game. I HIGHLY recomend it. We have not visited other firends town yet because none of our friends own the game. Even with that it has been a blast.

My sister and I borrowed this game from a friend and it was really addicting and fun! There was always something to do. We were sad to have to return it back to our friend and were thinking of buying the game ourselves, but the price was too high. I think that's our only complaint. Besides that, it's a great game that keeps people entertained.
