Verdict. Battery packs are tech gadgets that do not excite me at all… it’s about as boring as tech gets… until now! I love this power pack because it sticks to my phone and it serves as a pop-up stand. This is one of my favorite and most useful gadgets this year.
First impressions. The MagGo magnetic battery pack is different than any battery pack I have previously owned. It is fairly small and light, and the flat rectangular shape fits well enough on the back of a phone to minimize any inconvenience while holding the phone to talk. It comes with a USB-C charging cable, but it does not include a plug adapter.
Magnetic capability. Normally, I dislike using power packs because the charging cable that connects the phone to the power pack is always in the way. It’s just inconvenient. However, with the MagGo magnetic battery, you can just stick the power pack on the back of your phone and it starts charging your phone. I do not have a “compatible” phone case, yet my case still works with MagGo perfectly, every single time.
Phone stand. The pop-out sleeve that unfolds to make a stand is really well designed. It is well hidden but easy to pull out when you want to use it. The phone stand capability takes this power pack to the next level because now you can continue to use your phone to watch videos (you can rotate it to landscape, and it still sticks on the power pack!) or pay games while it charges. You can also just leave your phone on your desk to see your notifications while you get a quick charge.
Performance. I tried to charge my phone when it was down to 2%. The MagGo got my iPhone 12 Pro up to a full charge in about 2.5 hours or so, and it still had power left for another charge. I find the charging speed to be quite good, especially for a wireless power pack. Moreover, the fact that you can charge wirelessly while using the phone means that charging speed isn’t much of a factor with this power pack.
Controls. The controls are simple: just one button. Push to turn on, and push to see battery status.
Things I love.
- It sticks to the phone magnetically
- Well designed pop-out sleeve turns the power pack into a phone stand
- LEDs to show battery levels
- It charges phones fairly fast
- Allows different positioning of the phone (portrait and landscape)
Things I don’t love.
- I could use a much strong magnetic connection to make sure the power pack stays connected to my phone even when it is bouncing around in a backpack or purse
- The charging port for the power pack should have been on the side, instead of the bottom, to allow for charging of the power pack while it is used as a stand
Overall, I love the MagGo battery. It is one of the most useful tech items I have right now. While I don’t need to use it daily to charge my phone, and do have it with me everywhere I go now. And when I need a charge on-the-go, it is a quick, easy, and effective. I highly recommend the MagGo as an excellent gift for anyone with a compatible smartphone.

I've been a big fan of Apple's MagSafe technology and their accessories but have to admit at the same time that those accessories are very expensive, unless there are good deals on them which is very rare. So far, I've only got their MagSafe charger which is almost always on discount. Their MagSafe battery pack is just too expensive ($99) but when I saw Anker's MagGo battery pack, I immediately jumped on it. Not only because it costs way less than its Apple counterpart but also because it's from Anker, my one of the most trusted brands. I own several of Anker's products and I'm not disappointed in any one of them so far. This one is no exception. It works like charm. No setup required upfront other than just charging it after taking out of box for the first time. It can be charged using the USB-C slot at the bottom and the same slot can be used to charge your device thru wire. The other good thing about this charger is that you can charge your phone thru MagSafe at the same time you charge the battery pack. The phone charging will be slow obviously.
I have Apple's leather case & a silicone case for my iPhone 13 Pro Max and this battery pack attaches to the phone as if it was glued to it. It does not fall off the back of the phone, no matter how much you shake it. I've read reviews like it not being as strong at the bottom as at the top (circular portion) but that is understandable because the circular portion has larger area to stick to as compared to just a small thin line at the bottom. Personally, I don't have any issue with it as long as it stays connected to the phone. I agree it's a bit on the heavier side given it's small size but not as much that can cause carpel tunnel in your hands. However, once you connect it to your phone, the combined weight is quite heavy, specially if you have the Max versions of the iPhones because if you are charging your phone "MagSafely", there's 90% chance that you are holding it while charging and it feels a bit weird to hold your phone because of added thickness and weight but convenience does come at a price. So no zonk for that. Size wise, it's perfect for my phone and does not protrude outside the phone boundary. I cannot comment on protrusion on smaller phones because the only other phone I've tried it on is my wife's iPhone 12 Pro Max which is the same size as my phone. I have read people complaining about it online though for smaller iPhones, specially at the bottom.
I did notice it getting a bit hot while charging my phone. I'm not sure if that is a common issue or just mine but it isn't that bad, just slightly hot. I had this issue with Anker's MagSafe charger as well which I use occasionally. But other than this, I don't have any issue with this battery pack. Charges my phone at a decent pace. There are four LED dots at the bottom of the battery pack that indicate juice remaining in the battery. I'm assuming it means 25%, 50%, 75% & 100% but I'm not entirely sure of that. Apple's MagSafe battery pack beats Anker's battery in this regard as your iPhone shows exact percentage of remaining juice in the MagSafe charger whereas in this, you have to rely on the LED dots. Not a dealbreaker obviously but something to know upfront. I'm not too thrilled about the kickstand as I rarely use it: One because it's very flimsy/unstable, specially for my heavy 13 pro max with the cover. The phone gets knocked down as soon as you touch the screen and second because I have other better means of keeping my phone upright if I need to, which is again very rare.
So these are the only two reasons to knock off a star in my review: battery getting hot & kickstand being very flimsy. Other than this, it's an awesome battery pack and I would definitely recommend it. Anker really knocked it out of the park this time. Kudos to them!

The Anker MagGo is a nice compromise between size and battery capacity. It doesn’t feel overly bulky when using your phone while the battery is attached, even on a 12 Pro Max. The material Anker uses for the charger feels similar to the material Apple uses for their iPad Cases. The magnet is powerful enough to fully support the weight a 12 Pro Max (see pic) and not drop it. The built in kickstand is integrated perfectly and never feels like it will open until you do. It also makes it that much easier to use the phone while charging. Charging my 12 Pro Max, I was able to get an extra 70% of battery life before the charger died. The Anker MagGo is a great alternative to more expensive MagSafe chargers.

I’ve been using my newly acquired Anker MagGo Magnetic Portable Battery Charger for the past few days and I love how easy and simplistic, yet practical it is. I am able to quickly charge my phone and earbuds with ease. The magnets make it easy to just place my phone near the front of the battery and allow the magnetic pull to snap it in place without looking. The foldable kickstand is the icing on the cake. This stand is easy to put in place for use. I found myself using the stand even when I didn’t actually need to charge my phone because of the conveniences it offers. I now wish all of my portable phone battery changers were this convenient. The other ones I own have a larger holding capacity (more “juice”), but I prefer this one over all of them because of its small size, ease of use, and stand. It also allows for one full charge which is enough to get me through a full days’ use.
The Anker MagGo Magnetic Portable Battery was nicely packaged. There wasn’t much wasted space in the box as it came in a very small box that fit in the palm of my hand. It was easy to open as it had a pull tab, clearly labeled open, with an arrow showing which direction to pull from to open without issue. This is important if you’ve ever had to struggle opening many of the things are are packaged today… very frustrating.
I didn’t see a quick start guide so I wasn’t sure if I should charge it to full capacity before the first use or not. As a result of not having it, I didn’t know how long the initial charge would take to fully charge either. However, there was a pamphlet manual that folds out into five sections. There’s actually only about a half page worth of information but it’s long because it includes several other languages. The drawing illustrations were well done and made it easy to follow along and helps you get acquainted fairly quickly with your new battery.
The battery it light weight. A little less than a third of a pound at just .309 pounds: it may be better to describe it in ounces and it doesn’t weight much at all. This allows me to attach it to my phone while I use it without it being too heavy to hold. It is
fairly sleek in design and easy to grip. It is actually the perfect size for the iPhone 12 Pro Max as it fits right under the cameras. You can keep the battery on your phone and use it as it stays secure with the magnet and it charges while doing so. It doesn’t add too much bulk so you can continue to use your phone as you normally would. And when you’re not holding it, you can use the battery as a stand to display your phone in Portrait or landscape mode, because of the convenient foldable kickstand. You can also plug in the battery and simultaneously charge the phone and the battery. The magnets pull the phone to the battery in the perfect spot each and every time and they same with the kickstand. The back of the battery has an easy to identify section that’s indicates where you to place and fold the flap to make it a stand. Makes it easy to get it right every time.
They Anker MagGo Magnetic Portable Battery offers fast wireless charging at 7.5w. I am able to charge my phone through my thin carbon fiber case and because it also as magnets, the grip is really secure. The battery can top you off with 17 hours of playback time for an iPhone 12. I was able to get one full charge on my iPhone 12 Pro Max; which is more than enough to get me through the day and or keep my phone charged until I get near a power outlet. It takes a little under three hours to change my an iPhone 12 Pro to full capacity when the phone is empty. The included paperwork indicates that it was takes about at 2.9 hours and that’s case free (without a case). It has battery level charging indicator lights to show battery status in 25% increments capacities.
It comes with a 2-year hassle free warranty, which is great. I appreciate when companies stand behind their products for longer than 90 days and Anker has proven to be one of those companies that make good products that are meant to last.
The battery isn’t perfect as it has a few cons as well. The battery does get hot while charging so be aware of this when holding it in your hand.
I also have a few recommendations for Anker for the redesign that could make this good battery, great. For example, it would be great to be able to charge your Apple Watch as well.
I would be nice to include a small carrying pouch for when the battery isn’t in use.
It would be nice to be able to charge your phone wirelessly and charge another device via the type-c port simultaneously
Not all electronics are wireless. I currently have two sets of earbuds that can only be charged via wire. I had to charge them separately and after the other was done.
It would be nice to have the USB-C charging port on the top so that your phone could continue to stand and charge while plugged in.
It would be nice to have the ability to turn the wireless charging off and just use it as a stand alone magnetic kickstand.
In closing, overall this Anker magnetic portable battery, with stand is convenient and easy to use. It is by far my go-to companion device that goes along with my phone and ear buds; and because of its small size, I am able to place all three of them in my pockets. This device it worth the cost and I highly recommend getting it to experience it for yourself.
I would give it four and a half stars because of a few things aforementioned in my cons and recommendations, but four stars is too low and I believe the battery is closer to five stars. So, five stars it is. Way to go Anker.

This is an attractive portable battery charger for you iPhone 12 or 13 if you want to use its MagSafe capabilities. A magnet securely holds your phone in place while it charges, and the battery acts as a stand if you want to use the phone while it is charging.
The case is light- about the weight of your iPhone, and grippy. It should not slip out of your hand when you pick it up.
I charged the battery up overnight, and it topped out my iPhone in a couple of hours. It also has a USB-C cable that works both ways: it charges the Anker batterery and it allows the Anker device to charge other devices through the USB-C cable.
The device has a 5000mAh capacity which should be more than enough to charge up your phone and have some juice to spare.
Highly reccomended if you need an alternate and portable charging source.

## Design
The Anker MagGo 622 Magnetic Battery is a little larger than the first generation of their magnetic power banks, but it features a foldable flap on the back that allows you to prop up your phone while it is magnetically attached to the MagGo power bank.
The MagGo 622 MagSafe power bank has a soft plastic exterior that is comfortable to hold either by itself or when it is attached to your phone. There is a USB-C charging port on the bottom, along with a power button and 5 LEDs that show when the wireless charging is engaged as well as the remaining power reserve.
## Performance
Like most third-party magnetic chargers, the Anker MagGo maxes out at 7.5 watts for wireless charging. Currently, only Apple’s official MagSafe wall charger achieves up to 15 watts of wireless charging. However, since the Anker MagGo 622 power bank is portable, speed becomes less of a concern as you can simply attach the power bank to the back of your phone and go about your day.
The Anker 622 MagSafe power bank does become warm while charging, especially if you have it in your pocket while it is charging your phone. As heat can lessen the longevity of your phone’s battery, you’ll want to make sure there is plenty of airflow around the power bank while it is charging, which is easy to achieve thanks to the built-in stand.
Using an official Apple MagSafe silicone case on my phone, the Anker MagGo external battery attaches very strongly to my phone and does not easily come off. It feels very secure in my hand and only seems to slide off with deliberate force. The magnetic attraction will be weaker with other cases that do not have a built-in MagSafe magnetic ring.
## Features
- Built-in stand: The flap on the back can be folded up to prop up your phone either vertically or horizontally while it charges, kind of like an iPad cover. This makes it great for FaceTime calls or watching a video on your phone.
- Wired charging: If you need to charge a non-Qi device, you can attach a charging cord to the bi-directional USB-C port to charge other devices.
- 5,000mAh capacity: It’s important to note that you will not realize the entire 5,000mAh capacity of the power bank due to power loss due to voltage conversions and through wireless charging itself. On my iPhone 12 Pro Max, I’m estimating about a 50% boost to the battery before the power bank itself is depleted. This will vary based on what you’re doing on your phone while it charges.
## Summary
The Anker MagGo Magnetic power bank is definitely convenient if you have an iPhone 12 or 13 and want an easy way to charge your phone on your go. With the magnetic attraction and wireless charging, you don’t need to worry about bringing a cable with you to charge your phone. Just make sure you’re using a MagSafe case for the best performance.

The Anker - MagGo Portable Magnetic 7.5W 5k mAh Battery with Stand for iPhone 12 & 13 MagSafe Compatible Devices is as near a necessity as you will find in keeping your cellphone charged.
Examples: if you forgot to charge your iPhone the night before, the wireless charger didn't line up with the phone, or you are called to a teleconference that goes long. VERY long. So you run dangerously low on juice; this portable battery comes to your rescue!
SPECS:
5,000 mAh capacity
USB-C Input: / Output 5V @ 2.4A
Wireless Output: 5W / 7.5W
Total Output: 12W
Slim 1/2" thick
Lightweight: 0.309#
Magnetic contact with the iPhone to charge it
Rubberized, non slip case
Color: Black
- Includes 2 foot USB-C to USB-C charging cable
- Built-in foldable kick stand. The fold-out stand is very thin, so supporting an iPhone 13 Pro Max is difficult; it bends under the weight.
- This battery will charge the various iPhone models with magnetic charging capability to different amounts, based upon their battery capability. It will top off my iPhone 13 Pro Max, certainly enough to get out of a bind with hours of additional run time. It cannot charge the massive iPhone battery from 0 to full, however.
- Create peace of mind: for whatever reason you find yourself with an undercharged iPhone, simply press the power button to activate the battery, then snap it to the back of your iPhone. You are back in business!
- Protected by Anker 24-Month Warranty
CONCLUSION:
I enthusiastically recommend the Anker MagGo portable battery without reservation!

Good and affordable MagSafe wireless charger and lot less bulky than their previous model. Well-built, light and comparable size as others with the charge capacity. I like the magnetic foldable/prop up stand that lets you use it as a desktop stand. Powerful built in magnet that holds the phone intact while charging and can still have it in your pocket while it charges. Gets a little hot if you leave it charging in your pant pockets for extended times. The magnet aligns the phone perfectly and holds it a few mm above the resting surface, prevents scratching your phone when you pick it up or slide it around. It can also be used as a USB C portable charger for charging other devices. It charges my phone 1.5 times, so that's good enough for my daily use and I charge the battery charger at night. Couple things to note, the button at the bottom just shows the battery level but it doesn't turn the charger off. You can't have it off and use it for emergencies only, unless you disconnect the phone from the charger. It also doesn't charge more than one device at a time. It’s a good substitute for apple magsafe battery if you want to stay under budget with similar functions

Decent Alternative to Apple's Battery Pack
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Anker's new "MagGo" battery offers a bit more versatility than Apple's MagSafe battery pack, but there are certainly a few quirks to be aware of with Anker's solution. If your primary goal is to have a backup power supply for your iPhone that is easy and convenient, then this is a near-perfect solution for a much cheaper price than the alternative.
=== PROS ===
- There's practically zero setup required. Just attach the battery pack magnetically to the back of your iPhone and begin charging. my battery was already almost fully charged out of the box, but your experience may vary.
- The magnet is quite strong and it has does not fall off during normal use such as putting it in and out of a pocket.
- There are a series of four LED lights on the bottom to indicate how much charge is remaining in the battery.
- The texture of the battery pack is soft and smooth. It has a very similar feel to Apple's silicone MagSafe case.
- The battery pack is fairly compact, but it's obviously going to protrude quite a bit from the back of your iPhone. On my iPhone 13 Pro Max, it fits right in the center of the back of the phone with a bit of room to spare on both the right and left sides. On smaller phones such as the iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13, and iPhone 13 mini, I'd imaging the width of the battery pack will cover almost the entire width of the phone.
- The built-in stand is a nice feature and certainly very useful, though it can be a bit flimsy (more on that below).
- The battery capacity is very good. It cannot fully charge an iPhone 13 Pro Max from zero to 100% -- my experience is that it can add anywhere from 40 to 50% charge to your iPhone. But it's definitely enough to top off your phone's battery while traveling.
- The USB-C port is bi-directional, so you can use the port to charge other devices with a USB cable.
=== CONS ===
- Unlike Apple's MagSafe battery, there's no way to view the remaining charge on the Anker MagGo through your phone's menus. You have to look at the LED lights on the bottom of the battery.
- I've noticed that the battery will randomly stop charging my phone as the phone gets closer to a full charge. As soon as I turn on my phone's screen, it will start charging again, but I find this a bit odd.
- The magnetic hold is quite strong towards the top of the battery, but it's not as strong at the bottom. As such, the battery pack tends to swivel a bit as you hold the phone.
- The stand is a bit flimsy. I've knocked over my phone a few times while using the stand on my desk and touching my phone's screen.
- Since the USB-C port is on the bottom of the battery pack, you can't charge the battery while you are using the stand with your phone attached. Similarly, it doesn't appear that you can charge your phone while charging a separate device via the USB-C port.
- The battery pack definitely gets hot the longer it charges your phone, but I suppose that is to be expected.'
=== OVERALL ===
Overall, this is a great battery pack from Anker and is a great value compared to some of the alternatives. It's a bit more versatile than Apple's own solution, but also has its own set of drawbacks. Still, this is an excellent companion to carry with you on long road trips or plane rides. Recommended!

This Anker MagSafe portable battery is compact and great for charging your iPhone while traveling. The back stand it’s steady, a good feature that holds your iPhone while making a video phone call or even watching a movie, it’s a bit thin so won’t expect to last long, specially if you’re using it with a iPhone 13 pro max, the phone is already a little heavy. The only downside of this battery is that it will not charge my iPhone 13 pro max at full capacity. I tested the battery with my iPhone at 49%, the battery only charged my iPhone up to 76% and it took a couple of hours to get to that point, maybe the battery will fully charge a more smaller iPhone like the 13 or 12, but at least it help me a little bit charging my iPhone 13 pro max while I was traveling. Easy to use and charge, compact to just put it inside your pocket when not using it.

This is another great battery/phone accessory from Anker. MagSafe on the new iPhones has been one of the best features from the last few years because it eliminates the need for magnets to secure your phone while also achieving fast charging wireless capabilities.
The MagGo is small enough and light enough to still use your phone while charging but also secure enough to charge in a bag or jacket pocket without disconnecting or requiring a cable. Huge game changer.
The other interesting aspect of the MagGo is it also has a built in kickstand. Make sure to use the kickstand magnet correct with its own magnet and groove for solid contact and hold.
My only complaints are a few minor design issues. You can’t have the charger plugged in and have it in stand mode because the usb-c plug is on the bottom. If they had it on the side you could have it plugged in all the time and use the MagGo as a stand too.
Other minor complaint is it does not come with a power adapter, you have to buy one separately or use a usb-c plug on your power strip, pc or laptop or buy a power plug. I read a CEO of one of these peripheral companies said Apples decision not to include power adapters anymore has helped the peripheral business a lot, but it’s a bummer for the consumer.
Overall this is a great unit for folks who are heavy phone users or on the go and need quick charging capabilities. I get a little more than 2 full charges on my iPhone 12pro and it has 5 nice LED charge indicators. It also has the bonus of the kickstand which is great.
Definitely recommend for those on the go!!!

Anker - MagGo Portable Magnetic 7.5W 5k mAh Battery with Stand
Intended for iPhone 12 & 13 MagSafe Compatible Devices
Anker has been a trusted brand in my house for all sorts of single and multi-port chargers because they are reliable performers. Anker is also quick to respond to every twitch in Apple’s latest engineering decision so, with hardly a delay, they will have a product for the newest phones.
This charger has an ingenious design, able to both charge my iPhone 12 and provide a stand. Kind’a. Oddly, Anker placed the charging port at the bottom, so that neat “stand-up” trick only works when you’re not charging the stand, itself. Maybe they know something I’m not privy to, but I would like to do both simultaneously, sometimes. It makes only a minor difference in my assessment. It’s another winner from Anker.
My phone is reliably charged on the road and the battery capacity is good enough for any trips I might make (or charge me up on that day I fall asleep and forget to charge my phone over night). I have one of those generic crystal clear cases that does appear to interfere with the strength of the magnetic attraction. It’s a little weak and that makes the stand function a bit unreliable.. It did not appear to influence my phone charging. That was pretty efficient. Recommending it.

Charges fast, magnet holds to back of phone well, stand works great. I’m giving it 4 stars though because it does not always bring the phones charge to 100% before dying.

The battery comes in an Anker-branded box. The front of the box is white with some blue accents including the Anker logo and the back has the model information on it. When you pull the battery out of the box, you will find it in a plastic tray that also houses the multilingual user manual and USB-C charging cable. The battery pack itself is very compact. It’s about half the size of my phone. One of the features I really love about this battery is its fold-out, magnetic kickstand. It gives you the option to be able to have a charging stand without having it be a permanent fixture on your desk. The stand is sturdy, but when the phone is connected to the battery, the entire assembly can become top-heavy and get knocked over quite easily. The battery did have a charge out of the box. There are five LED indicator lights on the bottom that show the different levels of charge on the battery as well as the charging status of the battery.
As a test, I connected my phone wirelessly to the MagGo battery and let it charge for 40 minutes. Every ten minutes, I did a status check on it to check the progress of the charge and noted the progress of the phone’s charging. After the 40 minutes had elapsed, I calculated the total percentage gained and divided that by the total number of minutes the phone was charging to get the charging rate. In this case, the overall charging rate was 0.575% per minute. The battery did warm up quite a bit after charging for that long, but it cooled down quickly.
The battery is a very convenient charging companion for the iPhone. It’s powerful, efficient and compact. It is also cost competitive with other magnetic batteries. I was definitely impressed with its performance and love how well it works with my smartphone.

fits nicely into her purse without much bulk. Also with it being a wireless charger, she doesn't also have to worry about carrying a cable. The flip out feature is an added bonus if she wants to prop the phone up to watch or video chat. It charges at a decent rate, not particularly fast as a fast charger, but quick enough where you're not just sitting there waiting. This is a good product, and we really recommend it.

This battery is small and the maglock works as hoped. Don't settle for cheap clones that charge at a fraction of the speed.
