Great product, functions properly and is perfect for older cars!!

needs more updates to prefect connection and usabilty between all services used with google commands

i use my phone in my car but i have an older truck that it works fine

often disconnects n hard to pair ...didn’t like it!!! took long to return.....expensive

The Anker ROAV - Bolt Charger with Google Assistant is an interesting device that I was very excited about. How awesome to have e Google assistant in my car! I find Siri to be less than helpful sometimes. So this device gets plugged into the charging receptacle of your car. Easy enough - it’s a little plug that fits snugly in - and my interior being black, this black device sits nicely without having to be removed. It houses 2 USB ports and an aux connection - very convenient. It had a difficult time pairing with my Bluetooth, and once accomplished, it had some updating to do. Note that I have an iPhone and I understand this is the “Beta” phase for iOS. Also note you must have the google assistant app open to use this device, so I just keep it open all the time. This device is “buggy” to say the least. There is a little indentation to press for different interactions and a short press should bring up the assistant. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t work for me. Sometimes I can just say “hey google” without pressing and it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I play Pandora a lot in my car, and sometimes google can stop the song that’s playing, reply to my inquiry and Pandora starts back up when done, and sometimes she talks over the music, doesn’t respond or Pandora remains paused and I have to press play. A couple nice things - it announces upcoming events from my calendar and it can read my new messages or place calls... If it is working. This seems like a cool gadget and when it works, it is so cool. Unfortunately, right now, most of the time it just doesn’t work with iOS. I look forward to an update. If you have an Android I think you'll enjoy it much more.

This product is great. But the microphones are so worthless you can't even use it.

I only gave it only 3 stars because it does pretty much everything my car bluetooth does except it charges my devices. The set-up was not too bad, but it took about 15-20 minutes (including an update) after I figured out that you have to download the app first. Online it said to connect via bluetooth than download the app. (I have an Iphone 8+ by the way) You are actually supposed to download the app than connect. So it connected perfectly after that. It allows you to choose how to notify google and what you want google to call you, which I’m pretty sure Suri on my phone can do. After connecting, Suri is actually the one who responds when I say “ok google,’ which is not a big deal. Ne-ways, It says you can voice control music, but it wont allow you to voice control my itunes and amazon prime music, which sucks because those are my main two music apps. It says it can connect to itunes, but with limited capabilities. It looks like youtube and spotify are the main two, but I use neither of those apps. Maybe beneficial to someone who does use those apps. I do like that you can voice control calls and text messages and it picks up on the voice dictation very good. When connected directly through my phone and car bluetooth, the message is always wrong. Google assistant can also tell you the weather, you can input frequent destinations, you can put in reminders for certain dates, it can recognize your voice and you can get email and updates. The other reason I gave it 3 stars is because I tried to connect this in my husbands work truck that does not have bluetooth capabilities and the voice connection and bluetooth connection has a lot of static. You would think that this would be a great idea for older vehicles that dont have bluetooth capabilities, but it actually isn’t. It never stated that either, but what is the point of getting something like this when most cars have bluetooth capability already. It really doesnt add much more than what your car can provide and my car is a 2012. I really wanted to like it, but I think I have to play around with it some more to see what more I can figure out that it can do, that my car can’t. I would still possibly recommend this, but it just depends on what your looking for. It maybe more beneficial to someone else.
