Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the Bolt Charger's Bluetooth connectivity and microphone quality, frequently praising its ease of use. However, negative feedback centers on the Google Assistant functionality, with comments citing slow response times and compatibility issues, particularly with iPhones and other non-Android devices. Some users also reported difficulties during the initial setup process. The overall experience appears mixed, with strong positive feedback on certain features offset by significant concerns about others.

Works Perfectly Fine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure why some people are having trouble with set up, my Bolt finished connecting and updating within a few mins with my Nexus 5X and an aux cable. Mic functionality is great and hears my voice above my music at pretty loud volumes. Google Assistant is also very responsive and there's only a couple seconds of delay between me giving a command and it being executed (although I've mainly been using it to control music, so YMMV) Design is very sleek and fits right in to my black interior. A quick side note, a single button press will stop Google Assistant from listening to a command if you're worried about your friends using this to control your phone as a prank :^) Overall, does exactly what it's advertised to do and does it well.

Works Fine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works just fine. I use it in my work truck a 2017 Peterbilt. I'm sure it's noisier than most of you're cars. The software is a bit clunky but it will improve in time. I have used it to send a voice to text, listen to podcast, phone call and listen to Spotify. I also have the Roav Viva and this is better.

Great Customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was having issues with the Roav Bolt not reading my text messages to me out loud so I emailed the company letting them know of my issue. Within a day they replied to me letting me know that this issue shouldn't be happening and gave me suggestions on how to check my settings in my phone to make sure it was correct. After going through those settings, I still wasn't able to hear the text messages, so I emailed them back with a video of what was being said to me through the Roav Bolt when I tried to listen to the message. They replied back to me with a customized video showing me another setting I needed to change in my phone, and this time it worked. Great customer service and now I am having no issues with any of the features.

A cool way to add tech to your older vehicle
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I experienced issues on day one. Everything worked except any response from a "OK Google" Command. I would say "OK Google", it then would act like it was listening, I would issue a command and then it would act like it timed out and the lights would go off with no response. I contacted support and they recommended that I update my Google app to a later version than what was available in the Google Play store. I ended up finding the update elsewhere. Everything works as it should now. I would recommend everyone who is having any issues to opt-in to the Google app beta updates to allow all features to work.

the best Google Assistant in-car gadget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is super tiny and very stealthy. It only lights up briefly when I talk to it so it's not distracting when driving at night. I have a Pixel 2 and drive a 2009 BMW M3 and it works exceptionally well in aux mode. I listen to lots of podcasts, radio stations and musics and it covers them all, rather than usually I have to unlock my phone and glide thru the apps to find the right app and content. It's a very different driving experience and you should definitely try it.

Very low call volume
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought one of these, it works great until I try to make a call. The audio on calls is super super quiet. The google assistant and music are set to a seemingly normal volume, but calls are nearly silent.

Bluetooth volume is extremely low, almost useless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this gadget recently, nice little toy and was able to connect it to my iPhone 5S without any issues, just had to install Google Assistant and rest was quick and easy. The only concern, and its a real BIG concern, is that the BLUETOOTH volume is extremely low. Its almost must. I play music over USB all the time and I would expect GOOGLE will respond to my commands while music is playing and it does respond but barely audible. Its pretty much useless. The other option is that I switch to my car's BLUETOOTH and then start taking to GOOGLE. Its decently loud there and I can turn up the volume as much as I can because I have no music now.

Wow, just wow!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, am I glad to have this product. Totally hands free and convenient. couldn’t be any happier. The best thing I’m most happiest about is the microphone. Doesn’t matter if I’m in heavy downtown Dallas traffic or back roads, it has no problem detecting what you are saying wether you are mumbling or whispering. This is a MUST HAVE for your vehicle. Never looked back

Great product for older cars
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was able to connect this with my Samsung Galaxy A8 within a few seconds, and connected to my Dodge Journey via aux cable. There's a bit of a delay (2 seconds) after saying "Hey Google" and the acknowledgement from the assistant, however if you say the trigger followed by your command the assistant will do it. Overall I'm really happy with it.

5 stars thanks to Anker's customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally would have given 4 stars since the device itself is still kind of inconsistent, considering it's a new product. However, when I started having issues with connectivity, I contacted Anker for troubleshooting and Cherry was diligent and very helpful with resolving the problems. The Bolt has been becoming a better device as they keep developing the software.

Bad connection quality!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Connecting to this device is VERY spotty. My phone was better than my wife’s which never got connected consistently. Maybe 2 phones aren’t supposed to be able to sync ? Anyway I updated to a new iPhone and now it just stopped connecting completely. I followed all the guides about resetting etc. no luck.

Did not connect to Samsung Note 8
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Made my purchase, and was very excited to set it up. I spent half an hour trying to pair the device with my phone, I reset the device 4 times, ad restarted my phone twice, before giving up and returning it to the store. I tried going to the official google website printed in the instructions, but the site did not exist.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Box advertises iPhone support although its in beta and hasnt worked for months. Very slow at responding and poor bluetooth on android too. Bigger than it looks in pictures, feels very cheap. Not usual Anker quality I've come to expect.

No good for me.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sadly when setting up it stated Bluetooth was not supported on my radio and cable setup was a no as radio removal would be necessary since when first installing head unit I did not put female extension aux jack on the rear of the unit since nothing I've used needed it, all my other Bluetooth devices work fine though?

Doesn't work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't get past the setup. I am using a Galaxy S8+ and an aux cable. The thing is stuck on "Preparing Roav bolt...Try again." Rebooted the phone, reset the device. Nothing. Nice idea. Lousy execution.

Shockingly Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're expecting a device like a Google Home, this is not it. The Roav Bolt has extreme difficulty hearing, understanding, and responding to commands, even in a quiet vehicle. When it does hear "Hey, Google" or "Okay, Google" there's a very long delay between when you speak and when it starts listening, and at least an equally long delay between when you finish speaking and it responds. Constantly repeating commands and getting no response or a wrong response is distracting while driving. This device should not be used in a vehicle
