Customers express satisfaction with the Bolt Charger's Bluetooth connectivity and microphone quality, frequently praising its ease of use. However, negative feedback centers on the Google Assistant functionality, with comments citing slow response times and compatibility issues, particularly with iPhones and other non-Android devices. Some users also reported difficulties during the initial setup process. The overall experience appears mixed, with strong positive feedback on certain features offset by significant concerns about others.

Worst Google assistant on the market

Anker seem like they released this either too early or they just never tested the product in an actual car. First off, when you use the wake up command "hey Google" or "okay Google" it takes anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds to wake up. Other times it does not wake up on those commands. Secondly, I ask the Google assistant a question and it either doesn't answer back, answers a whole question I didn't ask, or it takes 8 to 10 seconds before it actually does what I asked it to do. This to me is straight trash. I'm giving it a month. If I don't get a firmware up date by then, I'm bringing it back to best buy and picking up something else.

I call this my Google Home for the Car. Love how easy it works love how I'm many ways it does more and reads more from my phone than the actual Google Home does.

This device can be great and frustrating at the same time. Operation seems to be inconsistent and very slow at times. Unfortunately, at this time it seems to be the only device of its kind available at its price point.

I wanted to give this a shot since I am a Google fan boy. Not really sure how this device would fit in my day to day commute in the car by saying "Hey Google" when my phone already performs that feature. Overall the USB charger does what its suppose to do.

I have been using it for about an year now. While it works to stream music to my car speakers, I am not very happy with it. It has connectivity issues and sometimes it won't work. I needed to reboot it often for it to work.

I did not know before purchasing that it works best with Android and iOS is a beta setup. Has about half the functionality of Google Home device. I have it plugged into my audio aux but it still is barely audible. Hopefully, it will improve over time.

Works as promised in my 2013 Mini. I am not sure why people find it hard to set up. Like most Google-related products it is mostly foolproof.

I like it but it requires a bit of fiddling
Once your phone pairs to it, it works well
Needs a louder decibel for voice commands

I am fairly well versed in tech and I was able to set this up quickly - but for the life of me I could not get it to follow my commands. It would react to my voice and/or pressing of the button but it would not take the action. And the hesitation between saying “hey google” and it reacting is unnerving. The google assistant would appear to be listening based on the dots on the screen as well as on the top of the bolt - but then it took no action and continued playing the current song....needs some major work for iPhone users still.

Pretty reliable and nice to have in the car. It has some hiccups sometimes and just needs to be pulled out and put back in to restart, but other than that, it's cool.

It isn't 100%, but it works great making Google Assistant far more usable in my car. It changes my phone fast, and responds quickly to the "hey Google"command.

It doesn't automatically connect to my phone, which is annoying. I don't have to re-pair it, but it would be nice if it just connected when in range.
Sound quality is fine. I am using the aux output.
Assistant is kinda worthless, it doesn't hear me very well when playing music. On phone calls I sometimes have to yell for people to hear me.
And then every now and then it just doesn't work at all. I wipe my BT cache, unplug the thing for a day or two and re-pair and it works again. Annoying, but it works I guess.
I have an older vehicle without bluetooth. If I could bluetooth to my car without this product I would ditch it.

As a Bluetooth receiver with an iPhone it’s not fully functional. It works as far as being able to answer phone calls and stream audio. However, there are no controls to tap to skip or repeat songs and the verbal commands simply don’t work. Furthermore, only the right audio channel works. Initially I thought it was the aux cord it came with so I tried one that I knew works with other drives then ordered an additional one just in case and it had the same problem. Right side works fine, left side is practically muted. Needs work.

Mic pics up too much road noise in older cars, which is the market for this device. Then waze added the same functionality in app so it's already obsolete.
