Back story -- My car doesn’t have Bluetooth natively, so I have a Bluetooth transmitter in it. The Bluetooth adapter/ system allows me to stream music, however doesn’t support phone audio / calling - which stinks. When this product arrived, I was excited to see if this allows me to do hands-free calling. The setup of the ROAV was so simple, that I completed it before I stopped to get coffee on my 7 minute commute. It quickly paired to my AUX-driven Bluetooth receiver/transmitter and was playing tunes immediately. I found that, because it uses the app to pair to the Bluetooth transmitter, it can’t handle phone calls still. Well, that was until I decided to interface with the stereo via the FM Transmitter function. I went into setup again & picked 107.5FM. Once that was done, my phone paired with the ROAV (making the Bluetooth Transmitter obsolete) and I cut the radio over to the appropriate station. Music is pretty nice. No static, decent bass and get this, hands-free calling works now! Fantastic! Since it’s Alexa it will only play music via the providers it has - and NOT Google Play Music, which I use primarily. However, since it’s paired with Bluetooth, you can still play (but not via voice commands) music however you want, on whichever phone App you want to use, without issue. I did have an issue with responsiveness of Alexa and non-completing of requests -- though a reboot of my phone took care of that. It only happened one time, so I won’t take any points away. The only downside to this device is that the charging ports aren’t ‘fast charge’ compatible. So, I use the power port in my arm-rest + a fast-charge Anker adapter for quick charge, leaving the ROAV for Bluetooth audio & phone calls. I recommend this product VERY highly!

I love the idea of having a dual usb charger and Alexa built in to mimic the experience I have at home but the issue is the connection between my Iphone and the device is inconsistent so everytime I travel it is another gadget to pair up. It is not that bluetooth is not ready just this device. My Garmin and internal car bluetooth connect everytime without fail. Maybe a app or firmware upgrade will fix it in the future. Also wish they made a Google/Siri version.

This device is pretty cool and I like the concept. It uses Bluetooth to connect your phone to your car, along with an aux cable or FM modulator, so you can use Amazon Alexa services. It uses an app to connect and it makes the setup very easy. It connected to my Amazon account very easy as well. Then once connected you can use Alexa to do numerous features from streaming a music service, ask questions, and make phone calls. These features work pretty well for the most part but they do glitch once in a while. For example, if you are streaming Pandora it will actually shut off for no reason. Then, it also does not connect automatically when you enter your car. It actually does this once in a while but not every time. There is a setting in the phone/app that lets you enable the device to auto connect but it still doesn't work every time. Other than Alexa, it works like any other Bluetooth adapter for the car and it does work very well. But it does have the few quirks I mentioned above.

I use my 2 "Alexi" at home frequently and was intrigued by the opportunity to have access to my lists and other features in my vehicle. The product comes in an attractive (but needlessly wasteful?) box with a manual and the ubiquitous "Quick Start Guide" (QSG). The first caution for prospective buyers is the size of this device. If your 12-volt outlet ("cigarette lighter") is deeply recessed it may not fit. Similarly, if you are already using the outlet for other devices and want to use a double-outlet splitter, the unit again may not fit as it is relatively wide. Check carefully. I could only make it fit with the power source for my dash cam by some careful adjusting. Initial connectivity was more complicated than the QSG led me to believe, but ultimately was successful. Again, a caution: The manufacturer strongly advises approving all permissions (e.g.,location, access to photos & contacts, etc.) when installing. I found this needlessly intrusive, but understand that if one wants full functionality it makes sense. (Without access to contact, how would it make calls?) Still, my vehicle has all the features that the Viva Pro offers except Alexa access. The privacy policy is lengthy (surprise!) and vague (again, surprise!). I did not grant all permissions and only wanted to assess access to my Alexa account. After several tries, it did connect, but was not consistent. The "problem" may have to do with my denial of permissions, but I am sure I am not the only one who does not want yet one more device probing my whereabouts, friends, etc. In sum, within its limitations, it did what it said it would do. Other buyers might be more willing to grant the permissions and likely have better outcomes.

Charges my devices. I set it up to use Alexa in my car. Now I just ask Alexa a question and she answers through my car stereo. I use Alexa to do so many things. Play my favorite playlists, turn on lights, turn up the heat in the house when I'm arriving earlier than expected. I can now use my Amazon music without taking my eyes off the road

The Anker Roav Viva Pro dual USB charger with Alexa is touted as an Echo for your car. On paper it looks like it has everything you need but the real world application is a bit wanting. Let's take a look : Setup - Fairly simple setup, instructions were simple. Plug in the device, pair with Bluetooth, and follow instructions on the screen. Took less than 3 minutes to complete. Integrating Facebook and Google to login and import information worked flawlessly. Pros- The charging aspect of the device works as it should – fast , well placed and two ports. For my car, the side placement of the charging ports worked great but I can see that being an issue for some people. Remember, in terms of charging, how much power The Aner Roav provides is limited to the power going through the car’s cigarette lighter output. As advertised, it has Alexa integration built in and works as it should , most of the time. I was able to control my Alexa connected devices not problem . There are some exceptions some key features that are not supported as of yet ( more on that in the “cons” section.” ) Cons- No matter what I tried, I was unable to send and receive text messages with the latest iPhone. When attempting to do so, the device tells you to go to the settings on your Android device to enable this feature. Why it is telling me to go to the Android device when I am testing it on an iPhone is a mystery. After visiting settings on my iPhone, this feature is non-existent or at least I could not figure it out. Navigation works, but only if you acknowledge on the phone itself, it is not truly "hands free." So a lot of what is a con so far appears to be configuration issue, perhaps an update will rectify that. What is a true issue is for this device is when listening to music at a reasonable volume, even when shouting, the device does not recognize the wake phrase "Alexa." Even road noise seems to interfere with wake phrase recognition. There are a lot of factors that can affect that ( speed, where your charger is, how load is the road etc) but this was an issue. For streaming services from Spotify or Pandora, the Anker Roav repeatedly told me "network connection is poor, please try again later" even thought I had 100% signal strength. To test that, I ran hi def videos on Youtube without a hiccup. Final thought- In complete silence the device works great and is able to tell you what's on your calendar, the weather, tell you a joke, give a word definition, and if your device is in your hand it'll put in addresses for navigate to for you. It does as any Echo device would. But overall usability just isn't there yet and there are a lot of things that could be better. I think they need to put in better microphones and integrate noise cancellation. Some issues can be fixed with firmware updates but the lack of picking up wake phrases is a frustrating issue. Better music streaming integration would be a plus but I have read that is on the way ( I have no solid evidence of that.) Overall, this is a well built product that seems to be 1st gen and needs some refinement to be a true contender. As the Anker Roav is now, I would pass and wait for the 2nd generation.

As a big fan of the Amazon Echo, the Anker Roav was unfortuantely a dissapointment.  The concept was appealing, however in practice there are some flaws.  The set up was easy and the design works well.  The two USB ports is a nice feature along with a large mute button for ease of access.  The connection has been flawless and gets re-establised to my phone every time I start my car.  Asking "Alexa" to play certain music, band or genre worked great. Now lets get to the areas where this unit falls short.  "Alexa" wake word is a bit shoddy.  There have been a number of times where I had to repeat "Alexa" just to say a command.  The response to "Alexa" seems to be a bit delayed compared to the Amazon Echoes that I am familiar with.  Catches me off guard that I have started saying my command prior to receiving the confirmation tone that the unit is ready for a command.  I could probably get use to it, however I found that even though my Alexa app is synced up with my contacts, asking "Alexa" to make a phone call never worked.  Alexa could not find the contact.  Asking "Alexa" for directions was a bit hit or miss.  Made attempts to find locations that knew for testing purposes.  Brings up the maps on my phone, however it doesn't always brings up the location you are looking for.  Another thing I disliked was the lack of speaker.  I know a speaker doesn't make much sense, however if I were listing to a CD or the radio, I could not use "Alexa" as all of the responses are synced Bluetooth.  Therefore I would need to switch audiomodes just to use and here "Alexa's" responses.  Therefore if you are using this for navigation, you must use your phone for music streaming, otherwise you would not hear the direction ques.  In the end, I think this is heading in the right direction with voice activation and safer driving, however, this unit is ready for flawless interactions.

Because of the way my charging ports are set up in my car, I was not able to use this charger. The ports are on the top of the charger, making it impossible to connect my cords . I need for my ports to be on the end, where the microphone button is. The only place I could charge was in the backseat, which is not convenient. Would be a great product if ports were in a different place.

I love Alexa. I have an Alexa device in every room of my apartment including the bathroom. I've wanted Alexa integration in my car, unfortunately this is not the device for it. The setup was a pain. it took multiple tries for the device to show in the app. When I finally got it set up, it worked nicely when I had my cars stereo set to bluetooth audio. The problem is, it only really works well when it is set to that input. If I am listening to radio, it will switch inputs if I ask for Pandora or Amazon music, but otherwise I cannot hear it. That's when it works....most times it does not. Sometimes it will work when i start the car and sometimes it doesn't. I am driving and do not want to crash so i don't have time to deal with the connection issues. This device also does not work well with Carplay...at all. Nice idea, but no follow through on making sure the product actually works. Very frustrating. I will be unplugging this device and will never use it again. Not worth the hassle.

Simple and easy way to take your home automation into your car Very easy to setup, fast charging and the ability to complete voice commands from your car without having to take your phone out (and possibly breaking the law) If you have a Amazon Alexa enable device at home, it is simple to enable and control the device hands-free from your car

This could be a great product, but it is simply not working good enough.I have lately the issue that it won't connect automatically to my phone (only this product; no other connectivity issues with my phone). Also the microphone are not good enough, sometimes you have to almost scream until Alexa hears you. Additionally I would like to use it more often for my Audible account, which technically works, but it doesn't sync back to my Alexa at home which is very annoying If everything works, it is actually a good product but it has too many annoying flaws.

This thing doesn't work very well. A lot of times it does not hear the "Alexa" wake word. Having to push the mic button is awkward and dangerous while driving. If it is set up on your car's bluetooth, then you have to be on bluetooth to hear any kind of response/feedback from Alexa. So, you can't be listening to the radio and then talk to Alexa and wait for her to respond b/c you won't hear it.
