that is not to say it's bad at all. But recognize the pacing isn't for everyone. the actual quality is set on from visuals to acting. You go on the discovery of the unknown and discover at the character's pace. You are equally powerless and surprised as it unfolds.

Great 4K release. One of my favorite movies this year with a great ending, the 4K release offers a nice bump in resolution, and more importantly some of the coloring is really made to pop in the HDR showing, especially later in the movie.

For me this was maybe one of just a few truly original Sci-Fi flicks of the year. This is not to say that the movies itself is so great as much as my appreciation for an original premise and story line. Looks and sounds fantastic in 4K!

My 25 YO son (a pre- med student and medical researcher) and I watched this together. We both loved many aspects of the film and some of the visuals are quite amazing, considering the low budget of the film. The acting was also quite good. The issue we both had with the film is the way it ended. It was very thought provoking; however, for both of us it left us with more questions than answers and as we discussed the ending, it became obvious to both of us that this was a missed opportunity. The ending, to both of us, was too ambiguous and left us both puzzled. Many excellent films leave you with questions that are never to be answered...and provoke continuing conversations. This one flopped on that point, at least to the two of us.

Annihilation might be the best science fiction horror thriller since Alien with imagery that is hard to forget or easily shake. Uncompromising, visually stunning and intellectually stimulating, this is top tier filmmaking with a compelling central performance by Natalie Portman and one of the most frightening original premises for a horror film in recent memory!

    Dark Sci-fi

From the director that gave us "Ex Machina" comes another dark sci-fi thriller. This does have an interesting looking alien we've not really seen before - hard to do in this day and age. Though some might find some conceptual similarities with "The Thing".

Can't say too much about the movie's plot without getting into spoiler territory. Portman goes with group to investigate a shimmer that engulfing land. FYI no one has returned since going into the shimmer in the past. If you can get 4K pay the extra.

Annihilation is a riveting mix of the fantastically beautiful with the horrific and terrifying. Annihilation is high-minded science fiction where only those who actively enjoy thinking about and dissecting multiple themes may enjoy.

This film is a different type of science fiction thriller. There are moments of horror and moments of awe. The awe is the special effects, the set design and the imagery that will stay with the audience long after seeing this film.

Between Dredd, Ex Machina, and now this, Alex Garland is quickly becoming a master of heady science-fiction, and Annihilation is sure to spark further conversation about what its events mean and where it goes after it closes.

Wanted this on 4k and best buy has the exclusive early release. I really like buying online and then picking up in store, I have just realized I need to pay more attention to the condition of the items picked out by the staff because I received a black panther steelbook that was bent so bad that it didn't close properly but I had opened it without examining before.

Entertaining, with excellent production values. High creepiness factor, lousy science. I give it a "no" on recommending to a friend, but only because whether someone is going to like or hate it depends on their personality.

If you are looking for a SciFi movie to watch, this is a very good one. It doesn't tie up the story as much as I would like, but it looks amazing and has some great actresses in it.

The 4k version of Annihilation appears to be a bestbuy exclusive until October 2018, so you'll need to grab it from bestbuy if you're in the US. The HDR is an upgrade so highly recommended to experience the movie in 4K HDR.

I think this film unfairly received some criticism for trying to be the all-female team like the ghostbusters movie but really these have nothing in common. Natalie Portman is one of the best actresses we have today, and this film did a great job of sticking to the important elements of any sci-fi, like the weird science fiction based future.
