Received All Local Channels With Some Tweaking

I live in a high-rise in Downtown Memphis and bought this antenna after trying several different ones to be able to receive OTA signals from the local affiliates. I am using this as an indoor antenna. I can easily receive stations located within 10 miles of my location without any signal dropout and probably stations within 20 miles if I have the antenna pointing in the correct direction. The only station I've had some issues getting with any antenna is channel 5 (a VHF channel), but after various cable lengths and positions I was able to find a spot where I can get the signal clearly. Unfortunately with the antenna in this location, I lose most other stations, so I disconnected the VHF antenna from the cage and connected the two pieces together with a longer cord so I could maneuver the UHF antenna without moving the VHF antenna. The reception is very good for an indoor building with a high rise office building between it and the broadcast towers to the east. Also if it's pointed just right and in the right direction, I can pick up stations in Jonesboro (70mi away) or even Little Rock! (150mi away). Like I said, the only drawback is that the VHF and UHF antennae have to be in the same direction. Otherwise it works perfectly.

We only have PBS in our area but with Portland 67 miles north and Eugene 45 miles south I figured I would give this a shot. Without a pre-amp I received only three channels but picked up a pre-amp from RadioShack and now I get 40+ channels (only 20 are worth watching) all Eugene stations and almost all Portland stations. Still tweaking the positioning for better reception on a few but overall very happy.

    Works Great!

Purchased this antenna to mount in my attic to pick up free TV. We live in the midwest, 43 miles from broadcast towers. Tried it indoors before mounting in attic and reception was only so, so.....But, once in the attic, terrific reception. We live in a ranch with asphalt shingle roof. All channels are clear, some 1080i some 720 ---just like cable in my area. Another plus, Antenna Direct support was terrific in terms of choosing an antenna. The assembly instructions could have been a little more clear and the pictures could have been much better, but in the end, there was only one way to assemble everything and I had no problems. Mounting bracket, while adequate for an attic may be a little flimsy for outdoor use.

    Works in an apartment window

At 61 miles from the transmitter towers I tried this antenna in my first floor apartment window with a 28dB amplifier and it worked! It pulls in 24 channels, just about everything that is available in my area. The high definition channels are sharper than my cable TV signal. That is good enough for me to drop cable TV. Not too bad considering the antenna is only five feet off the ground and it is pointed 75 degrees in the wrong direction. The towers are east of me and my best window faces north. The antenna sits on a window sill behind plastic mini-blinds, so it is not visible and it does not violate my apartment rules. The antenna amplifier is a Channel Master #AP-8275.

Rigged the antenna up to the same mount that the direct dish was on using the same cable that it was connected to, pointed toward the nearest cluster of towers in Memphis more than 30 miles from our home and scanned the television on the antenna setting to pick up all available channels. Within 3 minutes we had 35 channels, with a better picture than the satellite dish. I no longer pay for channels that I didn't watch, like CNN and MSDNC or the no longer fair and balanced FoxNews. We still get great reception even when the storms roll through! We get to watch all the classics without profanity and all our local news channels in crystal clear reception! Wish I had done this years ago! Highly,Highly Recommend!! AND IT"S FREE!!!!

Installed this antenna in attic did not pick up but 5 channels moved to top of roof outside and got all 25 HD channels. Live in hall and Jackson county Ga towers are 53 miles away point antenna and free TV .works better for single coax to TV no spliter .buy coax cable with ground for easy instal from antenna to ground stick or buy green thicker ground wire to atach to mast pole scrape paint off .cant go wrong if installed correct not a good inside attic or low point antenna if signal is weak test before choosing a place to install .good luck

Wasted money on the DISH for 5 years now (HDTV since 2009)! If all you're looking for are local channels and some bonus LATIN and sub-channels like COZY (a sub-channel of NBC) then this is a great choice. I receive close to 20 channels with this antenna. There's an assembly instruction on YouTube which is pretty easy to follow. Go for it, the channels are clearer than what DISH gave me.

My last resort gets 5 stars!

I moved to a mountainside home over 40 miles from the nearest major city. There is no cable here and satellite cannot work due to heavy tree cover facing south west. I tried a small Terk indoor antenna with limited success, only 1 major station plus PBS came in. A few more were pixelated but not watchable. While at Best Buys I saw this 4V antenna on sale for $79 so I went for it and am glad I did. I now get over 16 stations, most in perfect HD. After spending over $16,000 in cable bills over the last 20 years I have found relief. This works so well the kids are getting one for Christmas and cutting the cord on cable forever as well.

    Fantastic reception, small footprint

I have had the Clearstream 4V for about 6 months. I mounted it in my attic, about 18 feet agl. It was easy to assemble and mount. I have an unusually long cable run from the antenna to the TVs, well over 100 feet because of the house design, and I use a signal amplifier- all hooked up and aimed properly, I get 61 channels from 2 sources 37 and 41 miles away which are at an over 90 degree angle away from each other. I could not be more pleased.

    Beats Leaf 50

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the Leaf 50 initially. With programing less than 30 miles from my house I expected to get all 15 channels. It looked stupid on my wall, I only got 11 channels, and they were in and out all the time. I returned the Leaf 50 and got the Clearstream 4v, placed it on my old dish pole, and pointed through trees and part of my neighbors house towards the stations in my area; never goes out, extremely clear, and I get all 15 channels.

This is an excellent antenna. I followed the directions exactly and was receiving 8 channels consistently. Decided to turn the antenna exactly away from the towers and went all the way up to 14 channels which is all the channels available for South East Idaho. Bottom line is make sure you point the antenna in all directions before finalizing your install. Direction is very critical with this antenna. We received no channels at all with rabbit ears and even tried an amplified antenna which also yielded 0 channels. This antenna however has exceeded all my expectations and we now have free HD local channels.

    Great tv antenna

Got this antenna per the recommendation from my cousin. The house is in the country, it's my dad's boyhood home. We stay there when we visit family and was just renavated. Got fed up with the rabbit ears. Mounted this on 2 10ft connected sections of conduit so its 20ft above the ground. Bought some brackets from Radio Shack to secure it against the house. It's like having an omnidirectional antenna, some better than others. But for the towers of the closest city about 20 miles away the picture is great. But amazed that I am picking up channels 60+ miles away. I plan on buying abother for my house in the city in Houston, mounting it in the attic. Don't understand why some say they can't pickup stations 20 miles away. I will report back .

    easy to put together

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

To the people complaining about putting this together maybe you really just should not attempt any DIY project Putting this together is easy but finding the right place to mount it and run your cable lines yea that could be tricky but the Antenna itself is not any harder then lego's and could the pictures be a little clearer maybe but not any worse then lego directions so seriously people saying that it has too many parts and it too hard probably could not sort a bag of M&Ms by color (no offense to colorblind people) I got it open box for a good price and have no regrets it pulled in 30+ stations after a little bit of adjustment and location changes.. But with any antenna you are going to have this trial and error since I was placing in a attic because I do not want it outside... I am also not sure how well it would hold up mounted outside in the weather so for know it is safer from the elements and hopefully lightning

The C4-V-CJM , VHF Tv Channels 07 thru 13 / UHF Tv Channels 14 thru 51 Antenna is Excellent for Close to Medium Distance Reception. Depending on Building and Foliage and Terrain obstructions and Transmitter Power , out to about 60 miles. Know this , Obstructions of Any Type or Kind Between the Tv Transmitting Antenna and the Reception Antenna , Will Reduce Reception. I have this antenna and it is Built Very Strong and Durable. I Recommend the C4-V-CJM Antenna. The above information is the Truth.

This antenna works great we are able to pick up around 80 channels. While there are s viral home shopping channels and some duplicate channels they pretty clear some even in HD. All the basic channels come in clear, Saves a lot of money over cable and comes in clearer than basic cable.

I recently cut the cord and purchased this item. The single best thing is that because of my location I get multiple CBS channels and therefore on Sunday Afternoons, I get three different early afternoon games. All the main channels ABC, FOX, CBS, and NBC are great and what I watched mostly anyway. Bounce, PBS has also been a great add. Create has made the pain of losing FOOD, COOKING and HGTV easier. Add an amplifier to maximize reception.

    best all-around antenna

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the best all-around antenna I have tried. I already own a directional Winegard HD7694P and a Stellar Labs Dual Quad Bay. The Stellar Labs Dual Quad Bay is similar to a DB8e. Both the Winegard HD7694P and the Stellar Labs Dual Quad Bay are excellent (5 stars) antennas, but I think the ClearStream 4V is one notch above either of these Winegard and the Stellar Labs antennas. While the Winegard HD7694P and the Stellar Labs give a higher signal strength on most channels than the ClearStream 4V, the Winegard and the Stellar Labs each fall short on a few channels that are important to me. This happened to a point where it irked me enough to buy a much more expensive ClearStream 4V. I am glad I did! The ClearStream 4V DOES NOT have as high a signal strength on most channels as the Winegard or Stellar Labs (it's about few decibels weaker on most channels), but where the ClearStream 4V shines is it gives a much more UNIFORM signal strength across ALL channels. The result is that the ClearStream 4V can consistently pick up those few channels that gave the Winegard HD7694P and the Stellar Labs Quad Dual Bay problems. There are no really weak channels anymore. I am picking up over 116 channels with the ClearStream 4V. I am about 30 miles from the towers. I am in a hilly area with no direct line of sight to the towers because another large hill stands in the way between my home and the towers, but the ClearStream 4V works nicely even in this challenging situation. The ClearStream 4V even picks up an important channel coming from the back side. Now I no longer have to constantly use an A-B switch to flip between the Winegard and the Stellar Labs to pick up all channels. With the ClearStream 4V, one antenna does the job very nicely. I give it 6 stars. It's not cheap but well worth the money.

I live in the Oakland hills and am extremely pleased by how clear the signal is and how many channels I get. Amazing reception, no interference, no issues at all. Should have nixed cable years ago and gone to this antenna. I couldn't be more pleased.

    Better Than Expected

I have read an awful lot of reviews in my time, but I have never written one. So I guess you can call me a Review Writing Noob. I was so impressed with this antenna that I wanted to share my experience for those that are considering whether or not to purchase this model. I just Purchased the ClearStream 4V - Model: C4-V-CJM at the Best Buy store in Burbank, Calif. I read the reviews on a couple of other websites before making my decision to purchase this one, and it looked like the right choice for me. I could have gone with the smaller version (ClearStream 2V) as I am only 36 miles from the broadcast peak where most of the towers are located. But I am planning on installing this up in the attic and there is not a clear line of site to the broadcast towers because of all the trees in the area. So I wanted the wider reflection area do to all the obstructions. The assembly was easy enough and took less than a half an hour to put it all together. And then came the moment I was waiting for... I hooked it up to my 32" Samsung TV and did the channel scan. According to the antennapoint.com website I could expect to receive up to 125 channels available for my area for this model of antenna - I was not expecting to see the 192 channels that my TV scanned. Yes – I typed that right. One Hundred and Ninety-Two Channels! Man was I surprised!!! Now keep in mind that I have not even installed this thing yet. It is just sitting on my living room floor next to the TV with 50ft of RG6 coaxial cable coiled up and not even pointing in the direction of the broadcast towers. They're maybe 30 - 40 degrees off in another direction and this antenna is just standing upright on my floor pointing to the backyard (though my brick fireplace, walls, and everything else). All the major networks come in crystal clear and maybe half of the sub-channels are only in 480 resolution, but are mainly not the ones that I would watch anyway. I can't wait to see how it all will all turn out once this is properly installed in the attic and pointing in the right direction. I have another 32" TV and also a 50" TV that I will hook in as well. My last cable bill was just south of $200 a month for their "Package Deal". This antenna cost me $115 with tax and another $15 for the cable. So do you think that I will be cutting the cord??? You better well Believe it!!!
